Greywalker Series – Book #9
by Kat Richardson
Release Date: August 5, 2014
Amazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / The Book Depository
Description:
Harper Blaine was your average small-time PI until she died—for two minutes. Now Harper is a Greywalker, treading the thin line between the living world and the paranormal realm. And these abilities are landing her all sorts of “strange” cases….
Turmoil, sickness, and destruction are sweeping through Europe—and its effects are being felt all the way across the world in Seattle. Harper Blaine and her lover, Quinton, suspect that Quinton’s father, James Purlis—and his terrifying Ghost Division—are involved.
Following a dark trail of grotesque crimes and black magic across the Old World, the pair slowly draws closer to their quarry. But finding and dismantling the Ghost Division won’t be enough to stop the horror that Purlis has unwittingly set in motion.
An ancient and forgotten cult has allied with Quinton’s mad father. And their goals are far more nightmarish than Harper and Quinton—or even Purlis—could ever imagine.
The pursuit leads to Portugal, where the desecrated tomb of a sleeping king and a temple built of bones recall Harper’s very first paranormal case and hold clues to the cult’s true intentions. Harper and Quinton will need all the help they can get to avert a necromantic cataclysm that could lay waste to Europe and drag the rest of the world to the brink of war
Review:
Revenant by Kat Richardson is the 9th and final book in her Greywalker series. I had heard a lot about this series, but unfortunately had not read any of the previous books. With no time to go back and read all the books in this series, which I would have loved to do, I did some research and reviewed all the descriptions, as well as many reviews of each book. Once that was complete, I dove into Revenant.
It was an exciting storyline, with a wonderful heroine, in Harper Blaine, who is a PI. Harper died for two minutes in the first book, and when she came back to life, she was a Greywalker. What is a Greywalker, you ask? She can step in the grey in between world of life and death, which includes ghosts and monsters. Harper over time, learned to use this new ability to be able to help ghosts and others as a PI. Each book, had its own missions for Harper.
Quinton is Harper’s lover, who in this book, she has not seen in a year, as he was out of the country trying to find his evil father. This is the focus of this story, as Quinton’s father, and Rui, powerful mage are in the process of using ghosts, bones, and magic to bring upon the destruction of the world as we know it. Quinton asks Harper to help him and come to Portugal. Harper brings her friend, Carlos, who is a master vampire to help them.
What follows is a very complex story of the ultimate evil that seems unstoppable the entire way. It was very good storyline, but I did suffer the consequences of not reading the other books. Perhaps the other stories didn’t matter, and read well as a standalone. Technically this probably was ok to read as a standalone, but I found myself somewhat confused at first with the grey world, and then all the details of what the mages were doing. Kat Richardson has created a very exciting, but detailed story. I came away amazed at how she was able to write things about bones, magic and ghosts helping the villains, and make believers out of us. It was a hard read for me with so much going on, and the in depth details. But I have so much respect for Kat Richardson, for the research she had to have done, as well as her imagination. If you have read this series, you will love this book. If you have not, I suggest you start at the beginning, which I wish I had the time to do.

Great review, Barb. I have a friend who loves this series. Love to win the book for her.
This is a great series, can’t wait for the final book to come out! debra_burge@hotmail.com
Excellent review! Thanks for the chance!
I’ve been a fan of this series since the beginning and was surprised to find out in your post that it’s ending. I’m just hopeful Kat knew that it was the last book and was able to wrap things up. I recently read two books in series I like only to be left hanging as they ended unexpectedly on open story arcs. Oh, the pain!!!
I like both TRC and Kat on Facebook.

Thanks for the review and the giveaway. I am through the first five books and have loved the series. Kat has great world building and wonderful characters. I recommend reading from the beginning as each book helps you learn more. I am looking forward to book 9, even though it will be the last in the series. I cannot wait to see what is next for the author.

Good review. Very tough to review a book when you have not yet read the whole series. I’m not yet caught up myself but it sounds – from your review – that the series ends with all the great qualities of a Kat Richardson book. Thanks. bfree2read@gmail.com
I love this series and I’m sad to see it go. Thanks for the chance to bring a copy home.
