REVIEW: DARE TO TEMPT is the second instalment in Carly Phillips’ contemporary, adult DARE NATION erotic, romance series, a spin off from the author’s DARE TO LOVE series. This is professional quarterback Damon Prescott, and PI Evie Wolfe’s story line. DARE TO TEMPT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. You do not have to have read the previous series to understand or follow the current timeline but like the original series, there is a back story involving the Dare family, and by extension the Prescott family. Evie Wolfe is Quinn Stone’s best friend (Dare to Resist #1).

Told from dual third person perspectives (Damon and Evie) following two paths, DARE TO TEMPT follows in the aftermath of a sport related injury, and a positive doping test for our story line hero. Believing he is innocent of the charges, team owner Ian Dare, hires private investigator Evie Wolfe, a woman who stirs something deep within our story line hero. In an effort to get close to potential witnesses or the guilty party, Evie must go undercover at Damon’s girlfriend, an act that will become all to real for our couple but all is not well in Evie’s life as her past is determined to destroy our story line heroine. What ensues is the building but fake relationship between Evie and Damon, and the potential fall-out as as their time together comes to a close with the discovery of the person responsible for setting Damon up to take a fall.

Evie Wolfe struggles with issues of trust in the face of an assault by her former boyfriend. Determined to get revenge Evie’s ex boyfriend takes aim at our story line heroine . Damon Prescott’s was riding the high of his all-star career when a concussion sidelined him for an indeterminate amount of time but Damon never expected to be tested, or test positive for a banned substance. Desperate to prove his innocence, Damon agrees to work alongside PI Evie Wolfe, the woman with whom Damon will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and hot.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Ian and Riley Dare (Dare to Love #1), Alex and Madison Dare (Dare to Desire #2) : Damon’s siblings-baseball player Jaxon, sister Bri, Austin and Quinn (Dare to Resist) as well as their mother Christine, and their biological father Paul Dare. We are introduced to Evie’s large extended family of siblings including police detective Mack Wolfe,Deke, Lucas and Josh, and their parents Sunny and Gary Wolfe, as well as back up quarterback Greg Emerson.

DARE TO TEMPT is a story of family, friendships, betrayal and obsession. The premise is engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are numerous, energetic and charismatic. DARE TO TEMPT is a welcome addition to the Dare Nation series.
