Review:

A Moveable Feast by Jennifer Ashley is a novella that is part of Below the Stairs Mystery series. Kat Holloway, our heroine, is in the process of cooking dinner for the family.  Kat is a fantastic cook, who always does terrific meals.  Her employer, out of nowhere, decides that they will spend Easter dinner at a friend’s house in Portman Square; and Kat is told that she is to substitute for the family cook, who has fallen ill.  Kat is not happy about this, but she has to obey.  Kat insists that Tess come with her, and despite her employer not wanting Tess to help, Kat gets her to agree.  Now both Kat and Tess have to get a cart to bring all the prepared food and wine to the Portman Square house.

Kat and Tess meet some of the cooks who are not very friendly, but in time, the girls who work there, realize how great Kat’s cooking is.  The main cook is laid up, and Kat goes to help her, only to know that the matriarch is giving her cook bad tea, causing her more damage; Kat will learn that something is wrong, and she decides to change the tea.  Kat, Tess, and Jane and Mary work together to prepare the Easter dinner for the next day.

The next day, the Lord’s son is found murdered, and everyone is a suspect.  Once again, Kat is caught in a household that plunges her into trying to solve the murder; with intrigue and mayhem. After the police investigate everyone, both Kat and Daniel find it difficult as they plunge into a dangerous mystery.

Kat is told to pack up everything with Tess, and help from James and Daniel to move everything back to the home.  At night, Kat will look into the suspects, and she figures out who truly was the murderer.  She and Cynthia go back to Portman Square, and face all the suspects, with the police waiting outside.  Kat will prove who the murderer is.

I do love Kat, Daniel, James, and Tess, who make a terrific group.  Daniel is always there to support Kat; and James (Daniel’s son), Tess is a wonderful help for Kat, and others make a great team.

A Moveable Feast was a very good story, with Kat always becoming involved to find the killer.  She is amazing in solving the crimes.   A Moveable Feast was very well written by Jennifer Ashley.  This was a fun and interesting novella in the Below Stairs Mystery.
