ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 18, 2024

Life has a way of making you yield, but it won’t stop me from getting what I want most.
Striker
The first time I saw her, I knew she was pure. Sweet and shy, it works for her. She’s not the type I usually go for, but that didn’t stop me from wanting her.
She didn’t come around often, so it was easy for me to ignore her. Until I couldn’t anymore.
Danger stalks the night and threatens her in a way that draws us in. To protect her, I have to choose, but will I be able to live with it or do I walk?

•••••••

REVIEW: STRIKER’S YIELD is the twelfth and final instalment in EC Land’s contemporary, adult DEVIL’S RIOT MC erotic, MC romance series. This is Jonas ‘Striker’ Alvarado, and Autumn’s story line. STRIKER’S YIELD can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an ongoing premise throughout.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Striker and Autumn) STRIKER’S YIELD follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Approximately eight months earlier Autumn’s life imploded, leaving her alone and lost. Restarting her café business, friended by the Devil’s Riot MC, Autumn found herself fantasizing about our story line hero but Striker had a type, and Autumn knew she didn’t belong. Now, the past is stalking Autumn, and Striker is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love but the past if a familiar face for everyone involved.

The world building reveals the past ,the losses, the connections and the love going forward. Autumn lost the person closest to her heart but a second chance meant the possibility of a happily ever after.

The relationship between Autumn and Striker is a friends to lovers romance in which Striker is determined to claim Autumn as his own but the past demands a second chance, a demand that strips Autumn of her choices and heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Devil’s Riot MC including Horse, Tracker, Thorn, Twister and Rage, and their significant others : Brass and Athena (Brass’ Surrender) Striker’s sister Lila; Autumn’s parents Adam and Vera; and Striker’s former army buddies Tony, Rolland and Jason.

STRIKER’S YIELD is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, loss, protection and determination, acceptance and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is dramatic and twisted; the characters are animated and dynamic; the romance is spicy and flirty.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 15, 2024

Not only the net should be protected.

Felton

I’m a disappointment, a failure, a shit show. Every decision is wrong. None of my accomplishments are good enough. I don’t do anything right.

This is what I’ve been told my entire life.

For more than thirty years, no one knew. What the world sees is a lie. I do a good job of hiding it.

Until I don’t.

Ren

Sometimes, all it takes is a single moment to realize you’re needed somewhere and in that moment, your entire life changes. Felton has so many broken pieces that he can barely breathe.

But that’s okay. I’m going to show this man what love is. If he doesn’t have the capacity to protect himself, I’ll do it for him. The abuse ends now.

••••

REVIEW: If I could reach into a book and hug/protect a character, then Felton would be it.

He may be a huge goalie, a mountain of a man , but he’s been belittled and terrorised all his life, and not by kids at school, no, far worse! By his own father!! His family, especially his mother didn’t really try to stop it! So Felton has no confidence at all, in fact when hearing his fathers voice, Felton goes into panic/shut down mode (his way of trying to protect himself!)

Then Felton’s world falls apart! His career is on the line. And Felton begins to spiral…..

Ren plays on the same team as Felton, they know each other, but not really friends. Ren has his own set of friends and a loving family. So when Ren begins to notice Felton, it’s firstly as a concerned team member. And the more Ren gets to know about Felton (the one behind the fake smile) the more Ren

It’s a sloooowburn, but watching as Ren slowly comes to realise that Felton is it for him, has me not minding the spice scenes being missing. In fact, if they’d gone at it from the get go, I think we would have lost a beautiful story.

Ren becomes Felton’s friend/confidant/mentor and cheerleader. He becomes the wall that Felton needs against his father. And Ren shows him that family can love each other unconditionally. Felton hands over the reigns to Ren, and lets him make ALL of his decisions. Suddenly a huge weight is lifted, and Felton can finally breathe.

I squealed as a crossover character is mentioned. Puzzled to myself as to who will be in the next book. And sighed, as I close yet another emotional book. I love this series.

I like how the author builds the story and the characters. This one has less crossovers, but it does have a few hockey moments. (Which the last few have been lacking. This one is possibly another “gay for you” as Ren has slept with women, and has never really looked at men “that way”, until Felton.

Felton and Ren are probably my second favourite couple in this series.

No need to read in order. You can dip in and out.

Another recommended read from me 👍🏻

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 20, 2024

She came to me as a favor.
A burden I didn’t want or need.
A tiny thing with fiery hair and a temper that defies her innocence.
She holds strong to a faith I threaten to shatter with ugly truths.
She’s my salvation, but she calls me her devil.
I might not be the one who stole her.
But I’ll be keeping Ruby.

••••••

REVIEW: KEEPING RUBY is the second instalment in Alannah Carbonneau’s contemporary, adult VOLKOV BRATVA erotic, Bratva romance series. This is forty-three year old, Russian bank owner Kirill Volkov, and twenty-three year old, Bratva princess Ruby Belle Popov’s story line. KEEPING RUBY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. Kirill is the brother of Ilya LITTLE BLUE (book one).

NOTE : Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers. The author reminds the readers the Volkov Bratva series is a medium/light Bratva romance with some dark details.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Kirill and Ruby) KEEPING RUBY follows in the wake of the abduction of our story line heroine. Ruby Belle is a prisoner of a man she has never met. Oblivious to the point of naive, Ruby is completely unaware of her father’s life. Forced to marry Kirill Volkov for her own protection, our heroine will discover there is more to her father, and the family, she knew nothing about. Defiant and rebellious, Ruby struggles with her new husband, having become a prisoner in a gilded cage, but a prisoner none the less. As the relationship begins to develop, our heroine will be targeted; a price on her head; for the sins of her father, a man she never really knew. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Ruby and Kirill, and the potential fall-out when threats against Ruby come to fruition.

The world building focuses on Ruby’s past; her father’s lies; her husband’s life straddling a dark grey line between businessman and crime lord; and the growing relationship between two people who are thrown together by betrayal, secrets and lies.

The relationship between Kirill and Ruby is an age-gap, forced marriage, in which Ruby is but a pawn in a much large game. Ruby is an innocent, unaware of her father or her new husband’s lifestyles, and in this, our heroine is thrown to the proverbial wolves as she is failed time and time again. Kirill wants to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love but his attempts to seduce are hindered by his need to claim and protect. The
$ex scenes are provocative and intense.

We are reintroduced to Kirill’s brother Ilya, as well as several members of the Kirill’s security team including Maxim and Ilya’s head of security Pavel.

KEEPING RUBY is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets and lies, acceptance and love The premise is dramatic and tragic; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are dynamic, energetic and determined.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 20, 2O24

1957: Three friends—Margot, Gina, and Charlotte—share an apartment above a bookstore in Paris.

Margot is a twenty-two-year-old Australian having the time of her life. Having been sent to the City of Light to be “finished” before her debut, Margot falls in love with Paris all over again. In her mind, all she needs to complete her transformation into “Une Parisienne” is a gown from the spectacular designer Monsieur Dior, particularly if she wants to catch the eye of Peter Mountbatten, a distant cousin of the Queen.

Gina is an American blueblood whose family has fallen on hard times. She’s run away to Paris and is now working in a bookstore while writing a novel at night. But then she receives an invitation to a high society ball at the American Embassy where the man who once jilted her will also attend…with his new wife. Gina must have a knockout gown to wear.

French chef Charlotte is the lone girl in a family of boys and one of the very few women working in the stubbornly sexist restaurant business. She’s always thought herself homely compared with her conventionally pretty mother and is more interested in her work than fashion. But that is about to change…

One night, Margot proposes to share the cost and the gown with her two best friends and roommates. Each will put in some of her savings, and they’ll each get to wear the gown in turn.

Gorgeous, perfectly tailored, lustrous and luxurious, the Dior gown has the power to change lives—as these three remarkable women are about to discover…

••••

REVIEW:THE PARIS GOWN by Christine Wells is an historical adult story line focusing on three friends in Paris: Claire, Gina and Margot, and a Dior gown gifted by a socialite whose own life took a different path.

Told from three omniscient third person perspectives (Claire, Gina and Margot) covering approximately ten years in the life, THE PARIS GOWN focuses on the lives and friendships of chef Claire, wanna-be writer Gina, and sales assistant Margot. In 1950 our trio of friends dreamed of a different life, and the ability to afford a designer Dior gown. Fast forward five years, the friends choices in life have pulled them in different directions but choices often lead to consequences and changes, and the trio will reunite in Paris, with the gift of the original Dior gown. As each struggles to find a new direction going forward, the past returns for one; a family crisis pulls another back home; and a forbidden love will see a happily ever after yet for each, the Dior gown will bring them one step closer to the future they have always wanted.

THE PARIS GOWN is a story of friendships and relationships, secrets and acceptance, forgiveness and love. The premise is spirited, lively and enthralling. The reader is up close and personal with the lives of three friends, their struggles to find happiness, security and independence. The characters are animated, charismatic and real.

With the fate of Asteria hanging in the balance, Leila must decide if she can go against the man she once considered her best friend. In this epic tale of magic, love, and rebellion, only the strongest will survive to tell the tale of their victory—or their defeat.

•••••

REVIEW:Book three starts, where book two ended. And from then on, it’s a fast paced story of betrayal and action. Suitors descend upon Leila to pursue/force/persuade her to marry them! There is no love matches! It’s all to gain power over the Demon Fox. That character grants one wish. But to obtain that wish Leila has to 💀! All but Ronan are happy to sacrifice the princess in order to gain that wish! I did like the prologue in this book, it explains the story/legend of the Demon Fox.

The connection is still strong between Ronan and Leila (even though he did betray her!) I think her faith and trust actually helped him to become a better person.

Leila is growing into her power more and more. Which is why her blood is so sought after! But I also liked that each book Leila had so much to contend with, and with each book she just grows in confidence and experience.

You definitely need to read this trilogy in order, skipping a book won’t make much sense. The story grips you from the first page, and I must admit I did reread the first two books (a refresh and just because I loved the books.)

I also liked the fact we got different points of view. I didn’t warm to Ronan at first, but with each book he proves himself to be a worth companion to Leila. (But his father is definitely a piece of work!)

What a way to end this trilogy. I loved every minute of it. And will go back and read all three again at some point. The fight/battle scenes are intense. Might be a little triggering for a few people. The descriptions are on point, you can easily imagine yourself travelling through different landscapes, and meeting new allies and battling adversaries.

Highly recommended read 👍🏻

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 16, 2024

I don’t want the perfect marriage. I want revenge…

If you had met me a year ago, you wouldn’t have noticed me. A beautiful woman, but a struggling nobody in a tiny apartment, invisible…

Meeting Paul changed that.

And now here I am in Paris, after a whirlwind courtship and a stunning beach proposal. I smile at my handsome husband, my eyes shining in the candlelight, my huge diamond ring sparkling on the starched white tablecloth. Other women look at me in envy. They see a couple completely in love.

They’re wrong.

Despite this incredible luxury vacation, my husband and I can’t escape our problems. I can’t get over what he did with that woman just after our wedding, and my bright smile can’t hide the hardness in my heart.

I wonder if Paul knows the truth. That our first meeting, when we fell in love, wasn’t the coincidence he thinks it was. That what I want from him has nothing to do with his money.

And now that he’s wronged me, I’ll stop at nothing to get it…

REVIEW: THE SECOND MRS. STROM by Kaira Rouda is a contemporary, adult, pyschological thriller focusing on husband and wife Paul and Cecilia Strom.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Paul and Cecilia) using journal entries, present day and memories from the past THE SECOND MRS. STROM follows a few days in the life of married couple Paul and Cecilia Strom. Fifty year old, wanna-be Hollywood producer Paul Strom has whisked his much younger, thirty-year old wife Cecilia on trip to Paris France to celebrate their one year anniversary but all is not as is appears to be. Approximately two years earlier, Paul met Cecilia at the funeral of an elderly friend, a friend who left her entire estate to our story line hero. Cecilia, a struggling artist, began an instant flirtation, a flirtation that would see Cecilia and Paul married within the year but from the start there were issues that threatened their faltering marriage, issues that would inevitably place one another on a path towards betrayal and vengeance.

The world building focuses on the past, the present and a possible future for two people whose lives could not have been more different yet similar none-the-less. The secrets and lies, once revealed, threaten any possibility of a happily ever after; betrayal and vengeance, greed and deception are at the heart of a deadly plan to destroy one another.

THE SECOND MRS. STROM is a dramatic, dark and thought provoking tale of manipulation and madness, power and control. A richly detailed and complex story of greed and determination, THE SECOND MRS. STROM is a tragic and haunting look at years of built up anger and hate.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 15, 2024

Move out or get married. Those are my options, thanks to the trust my grandma left behind.

From Marie Johnston comes a single mom, marriage of convenience romance.

My aunt is determined to see to the terms of the inheritance. If I don’t get married, I’ll have to find somewhere I can afford with two kids and a lot of debt—and do it without losing my brand new job. When she confronts me on the moveout deadline, I try to buy time. I blurt out a name. I tell her I’m engaged to Eliot Knight.

Eliot’s my boss’s brother, and he’s been around the vet clinic where I work. He’s hot. He’s charming. He’s who I’d pick if I had to marry someone at a moment’s notice. But he wasn’t supposed to hear me. He wasn’t supposed to get dragged into my mess. And he wasn’t supposed to agree to help me. Now, we’re Mr. and Mrs. Knight.

We only need to be married for a year, and he runs his family’s ranch in another town. Three hours away. Yet circumstances keep throwing us together, and I get a lot of time with my new husband. I enjoy his company. His…touch. I fall hard the first time I heard him say “my wife.”

But our lives are still separate. At the end of the year, I’m afraid I’ll get to keep my house, but I’ll lose my heart and be left with nothing but endless memories.

••••

REVIEW:A great way to say goodbye to the Knight family and the series 😊

The final book is Eliot Knight, he has long taken on the responsibilities of the Knight Ranch. He’s made a few appearances/mentions in previous books, and I was curious to meet me. He seems like a stand-up guy. Putting the needs of the family before his own, I did wonder if that ever got to be a problem….

Lily on the other hand is terrified of losing her home! The inheritance Lily received from her grandmother, states in order to keep the home, Lily needs to be married! (Rather archaic if you ask me 🤨) and if she doesn’t have a home, then how can she work?

Their initial meeting wasn’t exactly a meeting of souls 😆, but they definitely made lasting impressions on each other.

Eliot walks in on a conversation with Lily and her aunt at just the right time. And being the gentleman he is goes right along with Lily! (He walks in as Lily is claiming that Eliot and her dating!! Oops)

They enter a marriage of convenience so that Lily can inherit her grandmother’s farmhouse and land. It’s only for a year, they can manage a year, right? Though they pretend to be married and living together when needed, the chemistry begins fly between them. And Eliot finally realizes that life is more than just working at the ranch!
He also realises it’s time to confront his troubled relationship with his mother!

Lily wants and needs to be independent, she wants to make it on her own. But can she keep her heart out of this marriage? It’s looking harder and harder! She fears that she’s falling for her “fake” husband!

I loved the ending of this book, even though I wasn’t sure they would make it! I liked how Eliot decides that he wants his little ready made family, and will do anything to keep it. Lily did keep him on his toes 😆 We also get to catch up with the Knight siblings.

I love the chemistry, the banter and the rapport between Lily and Eliot.
Right from the first they are attracted to each other, but neither are willing to put their feelings on the line!

I’ve read a d loved all the previous books, and there is no need to worry if you haven’t read any before this one (they all stand on their own, and can be read out of order with no problems)

I’m sad to say goodbye, but I know it won’t be long before the author gives me a new family 😉 to obsess over.

A highly recommended read 👍🏻

REVIEW:THE FATES WE TAME is the eighth instalment in S. Cole’s contemporary, adult IRON OUTLAWS MC dark erotic, MC romance series. This is thirty year old, MC medic Theo ‘Switch Reavis, and twenty-five year Mafia princess old Sophia Viscuso’s story line. THE FATES WE TAME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sophia and Switch) THE FATES WE TAME follows the building relationship between our story line couple. Sophia Viscuso is in recovery in the wake of a devastating car accident that left her scarred both inside and out. Meeting fellow patient and accident survivor Theo Reavis give Sophia pause as they both struggle with physical disabilities and ongoing amnesia in their accident fall-out. Theo aka Switch has lost ten years of his life, with no memory of what happened or why; and Sophia struggles with secrets and lies her family refuses to reveal but a conversation between Sophia’s brothers sends our heroine on the run wherein she and Switch jump into marriage to protect our story line heroine. What ensues is the building relationship between Switch and Sophia, and the potential fall-out as the power of the Cosa Nostra takes aim at the Iron Outlaws MC.

The world building follows several paths including the mutually and equal recovery of our story line couple. Sophia feels trapped in the rehab facility against her will, as Switch continues to struggle with ten missing years, and the physical disabilities that prevent him from moving on.As our couple begin to search for the truth, threats of a different nature reveal a dark side to living the life of a Mafia princess.

The relationship between Sophia and Theo begins in recovery. Neither one remembers their past, and in doing so, both hope to make memories going forward but danger will begin to descend upon our story line heroine, and Theo is desperate to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense-Theo believes he is a bit of a masochist in bed.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar secondary and supporting characters, most of whom we met in the previous instalments including several members of the Iron Outaws MC . We are introduced to Sophia’s brothers Alessio, Leo and Luca, as well as their father Vincenzo Viscuso. The requisite evil has many faces. Vex’s story line is next.

THE FATES WE TAME is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, dysfunctional family values, desperation and obsession, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is intriguing, dark, dramatic and impassioned; the romance is insta-lust and passionate; the characters are headstrong and determined.
