About the book: Release Date June 30, 2025
Being publicly rejected by her mate isn’t the worst thing that has happened to Sutton Ellis.
Fate brought her and Jagger together when he saved her from a sadistic witch then guarded her until she recovered—but the gruff, stern hellhound insisted he didn’t care what the fates wanted and left her for Hell.
However, when a member of her coven goes missing and Sutton’s fierce determination to find her friend lands her in life-or-death trouble, Jagger returns. And this time the sinfully sexy beast intends to be her giant, growly shadow.
Sutton can’t resist Jagger, or his determination to win her back. But her coven’s safety must come first. She’ll do whatever it takes to protect them…even if it means giving up her only chance at love…

REVIEW: BAD MAGIC is the second instalment in Sherilee Gray’s adult HELLHOUND HEAT erotic, paranormal, fantasy romance series, a spin off from the author’s THE THORNHEART TRIALS and the KNIGHTS OF HELL series. This is hellhound Jagger, and supernatural EMT/ witch/demon hybrid Sutton’s story line. BAD MAGIC can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. For fans of the author, the series was original title HELL ON WHEELS but is now HELLHOUND HEAT
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Jagger and Sutton) BAD MAGIC follows in the aftermath of the humiliation of our story line heroine. After a fateful kiss from Jagger, Sutton quickly realizes the hellhound is her mate but Jagger refuses to accept our heroine, publicly humiliating her in the process. When one of Sutton’s friends goes missing, our heroine finds herself pulled into a world of drugs, human and supernatural trafficking, where she is forced to work for her friend’s freedom, including asking for a favor from someone who can take her soul. Desperate to protect the woman with whom he will fall in love, Jagger becomes guardian and protector of our story line heroine, only to realize he had been wrong about Sutton all along. Meanwhile, Jagger’s past continues to haunt our story line hero, and Lucifer is keeping a secret that is about to destroy his world.
The world building is detailed and complex as our couple are pulled into the bowels of H*ll to search for Sutton’s missing coven witch Luke, and discover there are more beings missing than Sutton’s friend. Rejected by her own mother, and her coven, Sutton has found a family in a coven of hybrid witches, one of whom is missing in the wake of a fight for power in H*ll.
The relationship between Sutton and Jagger is a friends to enemies to frenemies to lovers. Jagger’s rejection of Sutton broke something inside of our story line heroine but a few words from Lucifer finds Jagger on the prowl for the woman that will control his heart. Believing she is nothing more than a pawn in Jagger’s world, Sutton begins to slowly withdraw from the man with whom she had fallen in love. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
There is another large ensemble cast of energetic and powerful secondary and supporting characters from the Thornheart Trials and the Knights of Hell series (Chaos, Gunner, Zenon). We are introduced to Brick, Dirk, Lucifer’s demon Rune, demons Tarrant and Poe, Hellhound siblings Zuri and Kurgan, as well as the return of Lothar, Relic, Warrick, Lucifer and Beelzebub.
BAD MAGIC is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, heart break and forgiveness, secrets and lies, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, dark and edgy; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are desperate, determined and magical.

Sherilee’s always had a big (some say warped) imagination, and as a kid scared herself conjuring up horror stories full of ghosts and other terrifying creatures. She never dreamed of actually writing down any of those wonderful imaginary people or places, not until many years later when her sister introduced her to the wondrous world of romance novels, and her very large book collection.
She’s pleased to say, she still has the big imagination… only now her characters are chasing their happily ever after.
Sherilee Gray is a kiwi girl and lives in beautiful New Zealand with her husband and their two children.
