They call him Il Diavolo
When the devil dressed in black crashes my wedding
I know he didn’t come to offer me his blessing
He came to collect what was always his
For months, he’s watched me from the shadows
Haunting me
Biding his time
Planning his revenge
Before he was King of the Cosa Nostra
I was fated to be his queen
I promised him forever
Now, he’s here to remind me what forever really means.

REVIEW:BEAUTIFUL TORMENT is the first instalment in A Zavarelli’s contemporary, adult EMPIRE OF KINGS dark, erotic, Mafia romance. This is Angelo “Il Diavolo” Vitale, and fashion stylist Abella Moretti’s story line. I recommend reading KINGDOM FALL #11 by A Zavarelli, a part of the multi-authored Underworld Kings series, where Angelo and Abella’s story begins

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Angelo and Abella) BEAUTIUL TORMENT follows in the wake of the return of Angelo Vitale who spent six years in prison for a crime he did not commit. Abella Moretti has been sold by her father to the highest bidder, a obligation to an underworld treaty, and our heroine’s future is no longer under her control. Having once loved our story line hero, and believed to have betrayed Angelo Vitale, Abella is about to pay the price for sins of the past, promised in marriage to someone else. Angelo’s anger and need for vengeance, threatens any semblance of normality for our story line heroine but Abella’s life is about to spiral out of control, and our hero is the man directing the traffic through the abyss.

The world building focuses on Abello and Angelo’s contentious relationship; a second chance in the wake of perceived sins of the past but Abello has a secret, and Angelo is about to discover another side to his wife, he never knew.

The relationship between Abello and Angelo is antagonistic. Angelo is determined to make Abello pay for the sins of the past but our hero is about to discover the reality of betrayal as our heroine is about to pay the price for someone else’s deception and greed. The $ex scenes are erotic, provocative and intense

There is a large ensemble cast of powerful, energetic and often questionable secondary and supporting characters including Angelo’s brothers Romeo and Matteo Vitale, their sister Mariella, and Angelo’s Capo Nicky; Abella’s sister Lucia , and their abusive father Maurizio Moretti; Brother and sister Ares and Persephone Stavros; Abella’s former Guard Tony Caruso; Valentina, Gabi, Serafina, Chantel as well as Angelo’s cousin Alessio Scarcello and his wife Natalia (KINGDOM FALL).

BEAUTIFUL TORMENT is a story of betrayal and vengeance, madness and murder, obsession and greed, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is dark, dramatic and thought provoking; the romance is gritty, haunting and edgy; the characters are desperate, determined and twisted.
