BLOOD AVENGED (Sons of Navarus #1) by Gabrielle Bisset- a review
BLOOD AVENGED (Sons of Navarus #1) by Gabrielle Bisset
NOTE: Storyline contains mature sexual content
This particular storyline contains a wealth of information, and I had a difficult time writing a review that did not contain any spoilers.
BLOOD AVENGED is the first full-length novel in Gabrielle Bisset’s Sons of Navarus series. Vasilije is a 400 year old vampire, but something or someone was missing from his life. Over the millennia, Vasilije has sired hundreds of new vampires, but on this night his new foundling vampire had connections to someone from his past. As an ancient whose own sire was no longer, Vasilije did not need permission to sire his own. But when Vasilije new vampire had a close connection to another, threats were made and Vasilije knew it would only be a matter of time before he was brought before the ruling Archons.
Sasa Lambert is an empath with the ability to read emotions. But for most of her 27 years, Sasa’s mother has been ill and in pain. Hoping for relief, Sasa had made a deal with a voodoo priestess in New Orleans. When another vampire comes looking for revenge against Vasilije, Sasa would be forced to make a deal to save her mother’s life but in doing so will be caught between two powerful vampires.
The Arcons are at war with the Sons of Navarus. The Archon’s desire for control and destruction of the Sons of Navarus would ensure that all vampires sired by the Sons would be targeted for extermination. As one of the Sons, Vasilije will gather the remaining members together to mete out a plan of survival and discover the answers to the prophecy.
The relationship between Vasilije and Sasa is slow to build, and in the end their love or lack of it left me questioning Vasilije’s true feelings for Sasa. I believe that Vasilije has feelings for Sasa, but the storyline did not convey a true sense of love and desire but one of ownership and the need to call someone their own. For this reason, I was unhappy with the ‘romance’ aspect of the novel. It left me wanting …..more.
BLOOD AVENGED is an interesting look at vampire society and the political structure of power and control, vampire laws and regulations, and the corruption bred by those in charge. Blood Avenged introduces the series premise including the Son of Nevarus and the role each will play in upcoming storylines and books. A look at the vampire infrastructure and their societal norms and values, and the political intrigue in a power hungry elite, the Sons of Navarus series will surely grab your attention especially when betrayal and vengeance are on the menu along with a human or vampire or two.
Oh and it doesn’t hurt that the amazing Francesco J. Cura is on the cover. 😉

Great review, Sandy. The story does sound different, yet interesting. Even if you felt the romance left you feeling you needed more.
Yes yes, Francis….that alone would push me to buy the book. Love Francis. 🙂
Another interesting review Sandy. As for spoilers, I don’t really see anything. And Francis on the cover is a major bonus.
I love that you pointed that out: Is it a genuine love or vampire calling BECAUSE of her sire? I am waaay interested.
And I said, Hey!!!! I know him from TRC!!! 😉
Great review!!!
