REVIEW: BOUNTY is the first instalment in Kathryn C Kelly’s contemporary, adult MAYHEM MAKERS: RED RUM MC dark, erotic, MC romance series, a part of the multi-authored Mobsters, Motorcycles and Mayhem worlds. This is twenty-one year old, university student Effie Monroe, twenty-seven year old, biker Pretty boy Floyd ‘Slice ‘ Elmont. There is a cross over with BOUNTY and RED RUM MC and the author’s Death Dwellers MC world-several characters from the original series have cameos and secondary roles.

Told from third first person perspectives (Slice, Effie, Daria) BOUNTY follows the building relationship between our story line couple.For months, Effie and Slice had been sending DMs and texting one another since meeting at a cover shoot for one of her mother’s books, and Effie is hoping to attend the upcoming event, as an assistant to her author mother Daria Monroe but Slice has ghosted our story line heroine, not returning her messages or texts, and Effie is determined to find out why. Upon their arrival, Effie will discover her mother has other plans for Slice, and Effie is struggling with what is happening and why but all is not well in Slice’s life-a job went horribly wrong, and there is a bounty on the head of the man with whom Effie will fall in love.

The world building follows several pathways including the dysfunctional relationships between Effie and her mother, as well as Slice and the family into which he was born and bled. Slice has been targeted, and his MC family is willing to let him take the fall but our heroine will pay the price for sins of the past.

The relationship between Effie and Slice is one of mutual attraction but Slice doesn’t do relationships, and in this, Effie feels betrayed and used. Along with his twin brother Drifter, Slice spent his early years modelling , and a chance to reconnect through the romance world, will place a target on the back of our story line couple. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar and determined secondary and supporting characters including several members from the numerous interconnected Death Dwellers MC series, and Josh McCall (Phoenix Rising Rock Band series). We are introduced to several members of the Red Rum MC: Effie’s siblings Heath and Cassie, their parents Lennon and Daria Monroe. The requisite evil has many faces.

BOUNTY is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets and lies, dysfunctional family attitudes; family and friendships, acceptance and love. The premise is dark, dramatic and edgy; the romance is provocative; the characters are charismatic and desperate.
