REVIEW: BROKEN by Serena Akeroyd is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, dark, forbidden romance story line focusing on forty year old Catholic priest, Father Savio Martin, and thirty year old writer Andrea Jura.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Savio and Andrea) BROKEN is a complex and detailed story about two broken souls whose lives will be intertwined, not by divine intervention but by a determined young woman whose seeks the one person who may be as damaged as her.

Thirteen years earlier Father Savio Martin suffered unlike anything he could have ever imagined, and at the same time, Andrea Jura became obsessed with a man she did not know. Believing Savio was and is her destiny, Andrea went to Italy in search of Fr. Savio Martin, the man with whom Andrea would fall in love but all was not well in either of their lives, and pulled together by fate and a need to avenge those who were unable to avenge themselves, our couple would find themselves judge, jury and executioner for those who sinned in the eyes of God and the eyes of our couple.

The relationship between Andrea and Savio is one of the forbidden. Savio is a Catholic priest who struggles with his vows, having broken all but one by the time Andrea arrives in his life. Andrea is pulled into the aura that is Father Savio Martin, an aura that is dark, broken and lost. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense.

The world building is intricate and dark; gritty and dramatic; heart breaking and intense. Pain is a way of life; vengeance is an act needed to purge the world of vile and evil; love will heal the souls of two people caught in an abyss of their own lives. The premise is thought provoking, powerful and edgy; the romance is unconventional; the characters are broken, twisted and tragic.
