REVIEW:BROKEN BY SIN by B.B. Hamel is a contemporary, adult, dark, Maria romance story line focusing on twenty-eight year old Nico Farese, and twenty-two year old Karah Bruno.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nico and Karah) BROKEN BY SIN follows the enemies to lovers relationship between twenty-eight year old Nico Farese, and twenty-two year old Karah Bruno. Karah Bruno is the only daughter of Don Domiano Bruno, and considered by many to be a spoiled Mafia princess but Don Bruno is about to give his daughter to the Russian mob in exchange for a power alliance. Karah is desperate to remain with the Famiglia, and makes a deal with her father that places our heroine in the direct line of fire. Nico Farese is a man determined to get his revenge, and his hatred for the Bruno family is growing by the day but as Don Bruno’s right hand man, Nico sees an opportunity, when Karah begins her search for someone to marry. All is not well in the Bruno organization, and Karah is ripe for the picking, setting Nico on his path of vengeance for crimes of the past. What ensues is the acrimonious but building relationship between Nico and Karah, and the potential fall-out as Karah is targeted, and memories from the past begin to destroy what’s left of her mind.

Nico Farese lost everything the day he landed in foster care, and vowed to seek revenge for sins of the past but Nico struggles with his hatred of, and attraction to our story line heroine, someone who is just as broken as our story line ‘anti-hero’. Karah Bruno admits she is spoiled but never expected to be sold to the highest bidder. Karah struggles with panic attacks, and the darkness that continues to engulf when she thinks about the past, a past that is about to come full circle for our story line couple.

The relationship between Karah and Nico is an enemies to lovers in which Nico sees Karah as a means to an end. Their hatred for one another, and tempestuous relationship hides a barely veiled, palpable sexual attraction, an attraction that could be the death of our story line couple. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

We are introduced to Karah’s brothers Casso, Flynn and Gavino, as well as their father Don Domiano Bruno; Don Bruno’s wife Elise, and Mafia soldier Rinaldo. Here’s hoping the author has plans for Karah’s brothers.

BROKEN BY SIN is a story of power and control; betrayal and vengeance; murder and retribution; family and blood, love and happily ever after. The premise is gritty and dark; the romance is impassioned and raw; the characters are broken yet charismatic.
