ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 16, 2025

She’s got it all—but none of it’s real.

Finlay O’Neill is about to marry the man who’ll make her dreams come true. There’s just one problem… He’s the wrong man. The runaway bride finds herself with an unexpected getaway driver: her bad-boy high school crush.

Jude McKenna’s come home to win custody of his late best friend’s son, but who’s going to let a single, tattooed bartender adopt a little boy? Fortunately, fate drops the town’s good girl right into his lap—or at least on the back of his bike.

A fake engagement seems like the perfect solution—as long as Finlay doesn’t start believing the lie. Because Jude’s all about the open road, and she’ll never let go of her white picket fence dreams.

But, just maybe, he can show her how to break the rules while she teaches him what a real home feels like.

REVIEW:CAN’T GET OVER YOU is the fifteenth instalment in Erika Kelly’s contemporary, adult CALAMITY FALLS erotic romance series, and the first in the interconnected McKenna Brothers series. This is former Marine, bartender and owner Jude McKenna, and thirty year old preschool teacher and soap maker Finlay O’Neill’s story line.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Finlay and Jude) CAN’T GET OVER YOU follows in the wake of the wedding that never happened. Just minutes before saying ‘I Do’ Finlay O’Neill discovered her fiancé had a secret, and struggled with the possibility of more. As a runaway bride, Finlay never expected to find herself on the back of her high school crush’s motorcycle, the man who had starred in all of her teenaged dreams. Jude McKenna was only in Calamity Falls for a few weeks but getting reacquainted with the woman who owned his heart meant a second chance at happiness. Life was about to throw a proverbial curveball when Jude was asked to be the guardian of a five year old boy who had lost everyone he had ever loved but the only way Jude was able to accept was if he could prove he was no longer the trouble boy who was forced out of town years before. A fake engagement but a real love affair begins to blossom between Jude and Finlay until Finlay has a heart to heart with her father, a man whose own place in Finlay’s life was less than attentive or loving.

The world building is inspiring and inviting, and focuses on familial relationships including loss and love, struggles and moving forward, rejection and forgiveness. Finlay is struggling with what was, and what may never be; Jude is determined to prove he is the kind of man Finlay is able to trust and love. As Finlay and Jude begin their fake relationship, everything becomes all too real when the McKenna clan rally to support our couple welcoming both Finlay and five year old Cody into the clan. Jude is determined to prove he is worthy of love and his own happily ever after but the small town of Calamity Falls, and their like-minded people, have no use for a man whose childhood reputation has never been forgotten

The relationship between Finlay and Jude is one of second chances, of a sorts. Jude and Finlay danced around one another for years but when Jude was forced out of town, Finlay moved on with her life, and into the arms of someone else. As Finlay and Jude’s relationship quickly turns into something more, Finlay’s reflections about the recent past push our heroine to rethink the future with the man she loves. The $ex scenes are passionate and seductive without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is another large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and strong secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Jude’s family including brothers Decker, Boone, Wyatt, and their father Gunner McKenna; Finlay’s best friend Willa; Jude’s former nanny Ava, five year old Cody, and Finlay’s ex Matt Jones. Not everyone in town is welcoming of our story line hero.

CAN’T GET OVER YOU is a story of secrets and lies, family, friendships and relationships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is thought provoking, honest and real; the romance is fated and flirty; the characters are sassy, lively and charismatic.
