REVIEW: HERON’S FLAME is the sixth instalment in Nikki Landis’ contemporary, adult DEVIL’S MURDER MC, erotic, paranormal, MC romance series. This is Manu Hales ‘Heron’ Williams, and Rebecca aka Rebel’s story line. HERON’S FLAME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross over with the multi-authored RBMC series, and the Tonopah MC by Nikki Landis.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Devil’s Murder MC is a group of bikers all with special affinities and abilities related to the crows. Some have the ability to shift; call the crows for assistance, or see through the eyes of their ‘familiars’.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Heron and Rebel) HERON’S FLAME follows the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Manu Hales ‘Heron’ Williams searched for a family to call his own, in the wake of his adopted father’s death, and found a kinship and familiarity with the members of the Devil’s Murder MC. For close to a year, Heron has lusted after our story line heroine but the pain and sadness he felt from Rebel, Heron knew something dark had destroyed her trust and love. Biding his time, Heron will discover that Rebel is his mate, the mate to his crow that calls to his heart but Heron’s past is owed an apology , and Rebel’s past has resurfaced, threatening any potential future for our story line couple.

The world building focuses on the search for Heron’s biological family, and his need to confess the sins of his past. As Heron begins to fall deeper with our story line heroine, Rebel struggles to reveal the truth about what happened and why.

The relationship between Heron and Rebel is one of fated mates. Rebel is unaware of the supernatural aspect of many of the club members but she will quickly discover there is more than one type of shifter, and paranormal entity walking the Earth. As Rebel begins to fall, her past demands reparations and her return. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate .

There is another large ensemble cast of energetic, powerful and supernatural secondary and supporting characters: several members of the Devil’s Murder MC: RBMC- Tonopah, and pack of shifters including wolves, dragon, phoenix, bear, leopard, vampire and gryphon. Here’s hoping the author has plans for a new series. The requisite evil has many faces including the Grave Robbers MC.

HERON’S FLAME is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, acceptance, family and love. The fast paced, character driven premise is detailed and compelling ; the characters are animated, sassy and charismatic; the romance is fated and spirted.

The world building focuses on a woman’s struggle to prove her worth in a male-dominated sport; the rekindling romance between Bexley and Nash, and Nash’s battle to move on from the demons of his past.

The relationship between Bexley and Nash is one of second chances but both are still hurt and in pain from perceived betrayal. Nash is determined to prove he is worthy of a second chance, but Bexley’s struggle as a woman in a male dominated sport is proving harder than she could have ever imagined. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters are energetic and dynamic, yet some are questionable and contemptable. We are introduced to several members of the Titans Racing Team, as well as the return of team owner Brienne Norcross.

FORMULA CHANCE is a story of power and control, misogyny and discrimination, family and relationships, forgiveness and love. The premise is dramatic and edgy; the romance is fated and spicy; the characters are determined and charismatic.

Carmine Barone doesn’t do relationships, and never planned to get married, but his father’s ill health pushed Carmine to the top of the line, and in doing so, a wife is needed to complete the look. Told from dual first person perspectives (Raven and Roman) follows the building relationship between attorney Roman Bianchi and VP of Human Resources Raven Crosby’. Raven Crosby left her previous employer at QI4 in the wake of a failed inter-company relationship. Newly employed at Neuronet as the VP of Human Resources Raven finds herself attracted to the new legal auditor, a man whose need for Raven is dangerous to both. SWEET RIVALRY is a quick read; a novella length, stand alone second chance story line between two people whose attraction to one another has never waivered; whose need for one another will be tested during the heat of battle and competition. The premise is imaginative and stirring; the romance is fiery and spirited; the characters are passionate, colorful and energetic. SWEET RIVALRY is an engaging and hopeful tale of rivals in love and life.

FALLING UNDER YOU by Laurelin Paige

FALLING UNDER YOU (Fixed 4.5) by Laurelin Paige is an adult, contemporary, erotic romance novella. This is chief financial advisor at Pierce Industries Norma Anders, and PA Boyd Barrett’s story line. FALLING UNDER YOU runs parallel to the events in Laurelin’s FIXED series, and the FOUND DUET, and can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous series is revealed where necessary. FALLING UNDER YOU covers approximately 2-3 years in story line time.

Told from first person point of view (Norma) FALLING UNDER YOU is an erotic story line that focuses on a forbidden romance between office colleagues-a romance predicated on Domination and submission. Norma Anders is a successful business woman; a take charge CFA for Pierce Industries, and a woman who has fallen for her boss Pierce Hudson. Enter Boyd Barrett, Norma’s PA, and the man who will take charge and dominate Norma in the bedroom and in love. What ensues is a ‘secret affair’ between Norma and Boyd- a relationship that finds our heroine submitting to a man she ‘dominates’ at work.

FALLING UNDER is a story line that crosses over between Laurelin’s FIXED trilogy, and her FOUND DUET. Norma is Gwen’s sister (Found Duet), and is in desperate need of stepping back from her life. Throughout the original series the author hints at Norma’s possible relationship with Boyd, but we are never privy to the intimate details or the nature of the D/s exchange. At times, the story line advances several months in which we do not have access to the building relationship and in this I struggled with the lack of details as to their building love-for all intents and purposes, the story focused on the D/s exchange skipping most everything else in their personal lives. The premise is entertaining and provocative; the characters are captivating and charismatic; the romance is seductive, erotic and intense. If you are a fan of Paige’s FIXED TRILOGY and the FOUND DUET, FALLING UNDER YOU should not be missed.

This is former rock guitarist turned music writer Royal Ewing , and country music star Jade Cantrell’s story line. HEARTBREAKER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Royal and Jade) HEARTBREAKER follows in the wake of a one-night stand between Royal Ewing and country music star Jade Cantrell. A few years earlier, rock guitarist Royal Ewing lost the use of his right hand as a result of a car accident, and in the ensuing time, Royal began his music writing career. With his song up for an award via the voice of country singer Jade Cantrell, Royal struggles to face the paparazzi and fans, until a rescue by the woman in question. Enter Jade Cantrell. The world building follows several paths including Royal Ewing’s struggle to move on from the past, knowing his former band mates went on without him. As Royal found purpose in writing, Jade finds herself facing down more betrayal at the hands of the people paid to protect her back.

The relationship between Royal and Jade is one of immediate attraction. Royal struggles with the loss of his music career, and battle between head and heart believing he is unworthy of love or a second chance. Meanwhile Jade must come to terms with a personal betrayal, and in doing so, the pain of heartbreak sends Jade into a spiral going forward. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I am not a fan of a certain four-letter word.

The secondary and supporting characters are interesting and energetic. Royal’s sister Briar, and her daughter Frankie. We are reintroduced to Royal’s best friends: security specialist Dash, hockey player Banks Christianson, Atlas; music producer Rico Galagos, publicist Farrah Henley. Dash’s story is next.

HEARTBREAKER is a story of betrayal, secrets and lies, family and friendships, forgiveness and love. The premise is captivating and exciting ; the romance is fated and captivating; the characters are charismatic and dynamic. HEARTBREAKER ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW:BECAUSE THE NIGHT by Kylie Scott is a stand alone, contemporary, erotic , paranormal romance story line focusing on ancient vampire Lucas Thorne, and Skye Carter.

Told from first person perspective (Skye) BECAUSE THE NIGHT follows the building relationship between ancient vampire Lucas Thorne, and newborn vampire Skye Carter. Skye Carter’s latest assignment was to search through an abandoned mansion in Los Angeles, California, on behalf of the Thorne Group but to Skye’s surprise, the mansion was not only not abandoned but a vampire was sleeping in the basement layer. Enter Lucas Thorne. Lucas was desperate to feed having been asleep for close to seventy years but never expected to come face with face with our story line heroine. Feeding from Skye took her life but Thorn was determined to make her his own. With the help of Skye, and fellow members of the Thorne vampire clan Henry, Nicholas and Benedict, Lucas begins to navigate the reality of the world around him : the changes, the betrayals, and the return of an enemy once long thought dead and buried.

The world building follows the building relationship between Skye Carter and the vampire who is now her sire. Skye quickly accepted the life she is now forced to lead but struggles with her attraction to the man who is now in charge. Meanwhile, the world of the vampire has changed in the last seventy years, and Lucas must learn to navigate both the human and supernatural world that is no longer the same.

The relationship between Lucas and Skye is a vampire sire affair but Lucas finds himself falling for a woman who pushes all of his proverbial buttons. Skye knows her life is no longer her own but falling in love with Lucas mean a target on her back from any number of enemies taking aim at our story line couple. The $ex scenes are intimate .

We are introduced to several members of the vampire world including Lucas’ extended family: Henry, Nicholas , Leilah and Benedict, as well as several other vampires with connections to our story line hero including Henry’s brother Marc.

BECAUSE THE NIGHT is a story of betrayal and vengeance, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is dramatic, intriguing and enchanting; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are determined and charismatic- I am hoping the author has plans for more stories involving the rest of Henry’s family.

REVIEW:Perfect title for this book. Ruthless God is dark academia, arranged marriage, morally dark romance. Check your trigger warnings before reading, this is heavy and dark.

Snow is someone who I would describe as being an absolute loose cannon in the worst way possible, but oddly enough he seems to relish that. Lyrical is his sister’s best friend and he has always had the most unhinged crush on her, but one that after their parents agree to marry them to each other changes. He grows distant with her, but always watchful, always protecting her from afar. When tragedy strikes, he does too. Snow doesn’t want to protect her now, oh no, the very opposite of that, in fact he has made it his life mission that Lyrical doesn’t have a moment of peace or happiness ever again. Throughout the next half of the storyline, Snow and Lyrical torture each other with some of the most messed up things, but feeding off each other’s hatred.

To say their relationship was toxic with all the red flags would be an understatement, but it worked for the characters.

Snow and Lyrical’s story kept me engaged, even if it was just to see what crazy thing they would do to the other next. Through trauma, death, betrayal and pain, Snow and Lyrical managed to find a world that they fit together, and fit together they do. Snow is full of possessive alpha, he just has a level of crazy that I don’t think I have read before and that is saying something because I have read A LOT of books.

As a first time reader to this author, it was a smack in the face, but in a good way. Vivid scenes, engaging characters, crazy storylines and a level of crazy I haven’t experienced before. I would recommend it to my dark romance readers for sure.

REVIEW: If you were expecting a book along the lines of “The Soldiers of Anarchy” or even “The Rebels of Sandland” then you’re going to be disappointed. If you thought our “hero” would be like Damien from “Firethorne” then you’re going to sad.

This my friends is sooooooo much more. Darker than anything I’ve read from this author so far. But so much more.

Please read any triggers that are given. It will have you on the edge of your seat.

Me… I took it out on my day off as I couldn’t put it down!

Emma is a news reporter, well she’s aiming to become one. Getting there is proving harder than she thought! But one night changes not only her chances of becoming that writer, but also her chances of survival!

Then we have our “stalker” he has no moral’s whatsoever! Everyone is fair game.

And lastly we have the “saviour”, but is he really?!

Alex Kingston is 7th Duke of Sunford. But he never uses the title (we find out why.) Gorgeous, tattooed, and extremely wealthy, and a collector of beautiful and thought provoking art work.

Emma, S.K.A.M and Alex all meet at an art exhibition. Emma is blown away by the live performance and writes a great story for the paper….

Alex is entranced by Emma, he wants to know more about her….

But S.K.A.M is enraged! How dare she write such a trashy and scathing article! (Her boss decides to “jazz” it up and write a horrible review, and no matter how much Emma tries to explain via email, the damage is done!)

This book moves at a good pace. Nothing is filler, descriptions are on point. And the spice is just right. The background story about his family given to us by Alex is heartbreaking.

I’d highly recommend this book if you like your book with a twist.

And the anagram of S.K.A.M ….is revealed at the end, along with a twist I did not see coming!

This book is part of a series by different authors. So I’m not expecting them to follow on from one another. Seven deadly sins written by seven different authors. (I’ve read books by most of the authors in this series)
