ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 11, 2021

The job should have been easy.

Get in. Assess the situation. Get out. But for veteran tracker Quentin Rutherford, things get sticky when the girl he’s loved since puberty shows up, conducting her own investigation into the strange occurrences of the small, New Mexico town. He knew it would be a risk coming back to the area, but he had no idea Amber Kowalski had become a bona fide PI, investigating things that go bump in the night. He shouldn’t be surprised, however. She can see through the dead as clearly as he can. The real question is, can she see through him?

But is anything that’s worth it ever easy?

To say that Amber is shocked to see her childhood crush would be the understatement of her fragile second life. One look at him tells her everything she needs to know. He’s changed. So drastically she barely recognizes him. He is savage now, a hardened—in all the right places—demon hunter, and she is simply the awkward, lovestruck girl he left behind.

But she doesn’t have time to dwell on the past. A supernatural entity has set up shop, and it’s up to them to stop it before it kills again.

While thousands of questions burn inside her, she has to put her concern over him, over what he’s become, aside for now. Because he’s about to learn one, undeniable fact: she’s changed, too.

**Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.**

••••••••

REVIEW:  THE GRAVEDIGGER’S SON is instalment 13.6 and novella in Darynda Jones’ contemporary, adult CHARLEY DAVIDSON paranormal, UF series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored 1001 Dark Nights series. This is twenty-seven year old demon tracker Quentin Rutherford, and psychic/traveller Amber Kowalski’s story line. For fans of the series, Amber and Quentin were first introduced in the earlier instalments of the Charley Davidson series. Amber is the daughter of Charley’s assistant Cookie.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Amber and Quentin) THE GRAVEDIGGER’S SON focuses on two of the secondary characters in the author’s Charley Davidson series. Approximately ten to twelve years have past since we were last up close and personal with our story line couple, teens who have been in love for one another for a very long time but Quentin Rutherford disappeared from Amber’s life, a disappearance that ripped out her heart, and destroyed her soul but both Quentin and Amber have psychic abilities, abilities that grew stronger, through their teen years into adulthood.

Amber Kowalski hadn’t seen Quentin for close to ten years but investigating the possible murder of a recently deceased brings Amber up close and personal with Quentin Rutherford, the boy turned man, who is much more than she could ever have imagined. While Quentin is hunting a demon that had quite possibly gone rogue, everything begins to connect including the murder of three people connected by the past. What ensues is the search and take down of a murdering demon, and the potential fall-out as the demon sets his sights on Amber, and Amber learns the truth about the man that she still loves.

We are introduced to Amber’s assistant and earthbound spirit Kyle, and Quentin’s ‘demon’ other Rune.

For followers of the Charley Davidson series, the humour and snark is limited except for the t-shirt and meme quotes at the beginning of each chapter. I was hoping for a little more of the familiarity of the dark comedy, sarcasm and sass.

THE GRAVEDIGGER’S SON is a quick read; a fast paced, action packed story of vengeance and betrayal; friendship and love; second chances and hope. The premise is captivating; the romance is seductive and steamy; the characters are familiar and energetic. THE GRAVEDIGGER’S SON is a welcome return to the Charley Davidson’s series, a return of which there will be so much more. Here’s hoping the author has plans for a spin-off series focusing on Amber and Quentin.

“Intruder!” Kyle said from behind him, a day late and a dollar short.
Quentin glared at him, and Kyle stepped back reflexively. Then he refocused his glare on Amber.
“What?” she asked, her hackles rising as hackles are wont to do.
“What are you doing here?” Again, his signs were sharp with irritation.
As Amber sat in utter astonishment—He Who Must Not Be Named was literally the last person on Earth she’d expected to see today—she used the break to take him in.
How much could a guy change in five years?
If Quentin Rutherford was any indication, a hella lot.
She barely recognized him. He’d hardened—in all the right places. His shoulders had widened more than most twenty-seven-year-olds. He’d always been muscular, even when they were kids, but either he’d been hitting the gym, or he’d been magically photoshopped. The hills and valleys that covered his body to exquisite perfection could be seen through the long-sleeved T-shirt he wore, his biceps stretching the seams to their limits. And the jeans, the ones with a few holes here and there, were not a fashion statement so much as a favored pair of work pants.
“Ms. Kowalski?” Kyle said.
Quentin turned to him, and Amber caught a glimpse of two things: the profile of his steely buttocks that had developed as much as the rest of him, and a particularly well-placed rip in the worn jeans that showed part of the indentation in his left ass cheek. The fact that he wasn’t wearing underwear was a bonus. How could anyone she hated so much be so startlingly drop-dead sexy? Life was not fair.
Then she realized something. He’d heard Kyle. Quentin had turned when Kyle spoke, and she wondered if he’d finally gotten a pair of hearing aids. They’d never helped him that much before, so he never wore them, but technology had advanced a lot since then. Maybe they had more powerful aids now that could help him hear.
She snuck a glance but didn’t see any mechanical earpieces. Interesting.
When he turned back to her, she couldn’t get over how much he’d changed. His hair was shorter now and a little darker but still a rich, tawny blond. And he’d either started wearing it spiked, or he had bedhead. Either way, he was even more gorgeous than before. Full mouth. Straight nose. Deep blue eyes like the cobalt on a ceramic bowl.
Damn it.

They can resist their attraction…until their hearts rocket them across the blue line.

Hunter
Timing. Hockey careers are made or broken on it, and mine has taken exceptionally broken road. I’m not a star. I’m a grinder, I work hard, and I’m finally at the point I can put the past behind me and get the fat, long-term contract I deserve.

But my agent—the man who stuck by me through every crash and burn—has had a heart attack. I need another agent now, or my one chance for the good money will slip through my fingers. Kate’s a rookie, but she loves the game like I do, so I pick up the phone. And I wonder if she remembers that one night in Cancun as vividly as I do.

Kate
Hockey. All my life I’ve lived it, breathed it, played it. Now it’s my business. As an agent, I’m tied to my phone at all hours, but nothing prepared me to hear Hunter’s voice. The last time I saw him—three years ago—there was a lot of bare skin and horny hormones involved.

I’ve handled it all in my short career—sexism, harassment, being broke, being laughed at. Resisting the attraction between us should be easy. Until it isn’t. And Hunter’s past shakes his confidence hard enough that he could make the worst decision at the worst possible time…

REVIEW:  TALK HOCKEY TO ME is the third instalment in Kelly Jamieson’s contemporary, adult BEARS HOCKEY erotic, hockey romance series. This is hockey player Hunter Morrisette, and sports agent Kate Bridges’ story line. TALK HOCKEY TO ME can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Kelly Jamieson pulls from real world events in both the junior and professional hockey leagues including the tragedy of the Humboldt Broncos bus crash of 2018.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Hunter and Kate) TALK HOCKEY TO ME follows the rekindling romance and friendship between twenty-six year old, hockey player Hunter Morrisette, and sports agent Kate Bridges. Kate and Hunter were friends in college but Hunter ghosted Kate following a one-night stand in Cancun while on spring break, breaking our heroine’s heart in the process. Fast forward to present day whererin Hunter Morrisette is now a free agent but his rep had a heart attack forcing Hunter to look for new representation. Enter sports agent Kate Bridges. What ensues is the building professional and romantic relationship between Kate and Hunter, and the potential fall-out as Hunter struggles with what was and what will never be.

Hunter Morrisette struggles with issues of PTSD in the years following the bus crash that claimed the life of so many of his friends but an offer from the New York Bears, where several of his former teammates now work and play finds our hero, once again struggling with PTSD, and the memories from the night that he soon won’t forget. Kate Bridges knows a thing or two about hockey having played the sport most of her life but when the opportunity came to represent our hero, Kate was reluctant, refusing to let Hunter break her heart, a second time. Fairly new to the business, Kate is excited to get Hunter as a client but battles between head and heart when personal feelings continue to re-emerge.

The relationship between Hunter and Kate is a former friends to lovers, second chance romance. Hunter ghosted our heroine following a one-night stand, and Kate refused to cross the line now that their relationship was professional but old feelings and emotions pull at her heart, and Kate is hoping their friendship turns into something more. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include Hunter’s former teammates Eaton Millar and Josh Heller; Kate’s father Joe Bridges, and he brother Ryan.

TALK HOCKEY TO ME is a story of struggle and loss, of second chances and love, of acceptance and moving forward. The premise is emotional; the romance is captivating; the characters are broken, dynamic and strong.

We walk into the bright and sunny apartment. Being a corner unit, it has lots of windows, and the décor is light and airy, all pale gray and white. “Cute place,” I say.
“Thanks. It’s tiny but I love the neighborhood.”
“It looks like you.”
Kate gives me a skeptical look.
“Organized. Tidy. Modern.”
She gives me a long, impassive look. “That’s me, huh? Tidy?”
Shit. There I go again. I called her tough that night and I think she was insulted. Now I’ve done it again.
“Well, not right now,” I admit, eyeing her sweaty hair and face.
That probably didn’t make it better.
“You’re not wrong.” She sighs and sets the bear head on the small island. “Okay, help me get this off. I really need to pee now.”
We wrestle her out of the costume, and I try not to notice that I’m touching her. Under the getup, she’s wearing a thin tank top and a pair of tiny, tight black shorts. I swallow hard.
One hand grazes her bare arm. Then her thigh. I hear her sharp intake of breath and my gaze lands on her nipples, now hard and poking against her bra and tank top. Christ.
I kneel to help her step out of the costume. She sets a hand on my shoulder for balance and lifts one long, sleek leg. I want to run my hands up and down her leg so badly my palms tingle. My dick is pushing aggressively against the fly of my jeans.
I look up at her. She’s watching me, her lips parted, her eyes pupils dilated. A flush stains her cheeks and she catches her bottom lip between her teeth.
Daringly, I set my hands on her calf and she pulls the other foot free of the fur garment. I slide my hands around the back of her firmly muscled calves, and then up to the backs of her knees. She shivers. “Hunter…”
She’s not stopping me. I glide my hands up the backs of her thighs, then over the little shorts to cup her ass. I straighten my legs and stand, pulling her closer. Bending my head, we’re nearly nose to nose. Her eyelashes flutter. Our mouths are so close… “Kate.”
She pulls back, her eyes full of regret. “Hunter. We can’t do this.”
I close my eyes at the stab of disappointment. “Right. Right. Sorry.”
“Also, I still have to go to the bathroom.” She darts away from me and into the bathroom, slamming the door shut.
I lean against her kitchen island, sweating, breathing hard. My heart is galloping. Jesus. I fucked up. Why did I touch her like that? What the fuck is wrong with me?

REVIEW:MERCILESS HUNTER is the fourth instalment in Faith Summers’ contemporary, adult DARK SYNDICATE dark, erotic, crime world, romance series. This is thirty-six year old, Bratva Pakhan of the Los Angeles Brotherhood Aiden Romanov, and twenty-six year old Olivia Markov’s story line. MERCILESS HUNTER can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. MERCLIESS HUNTER is the introductory storyline to the next arc of the series.

NOTE: Due to the graphic nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Aiden and Olivia) MERCILESS HUNTER focuses on nine years after the destruction of Aiden’s life. Having ‘betrayed’ the Order Aiden would lose not only his wife but his infant son to an attack and fire that left so many dead. Fast forward to present day wherein a young woman set about to seduce our story line hero in an effort to locate her missing brother Eric. Enter Olivia Markov, and the woman with whom Aiden will fall in love. Olivia’s brother has been missing for close to five years, presumed dead in car crash, but Olivia suspects her brother is alive and is desperate for Aiden’s help. Olivia is an abused young woman who’s fiancé is deadlier and more evil than anyone could have imagined, and our heroine goes from one captor to another as she seeks to find the brother she has always loved. What ensues is the tempestuous relationship between Olivia and Aiden, and the potential fall-out as their time together comes to a close, and Aiden seeks revenge for betrayal at the highest order.

Aiden doesn’t do relationships having lost the only woman he would ever love. Olivia Markov is a broken young woman, who has sold her life to another man in an effort to protect the family she loves but secrets and betrayal run darker and deep, and Aiden is about to discover what he once thought was lost, may be alive and well. The Markov family lost everything and in the ensuing years, our heroine finds herself a prisoner and slave to a man who seeks to control everyone and more.

The relationship between Olivia and Aiden is predicated upon a lie as Olivia hopes to seduce our hero into helping locate her missing brother but with the help of his ‘brothers’, cousins and friends, Aiden will soon discover that all is not as it appears to be including the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are aggressive, dominant and seductive, and not without some questionable acts of consent.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including syndicate leader Massimo D’Agostino (Ruthless Prince 1), Dominic D’Agostino (Wicked Liar 3); Aiden’s cousin and Sovientrik Maksim, and bodyguard Ilya; Olivia’s fiancé Jude Kuzmin, her friend Amy; mob wife Percephone Falcione.

MERCILESS HUNTER is a story of power, control, betrayal and revenge. A tale of family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is raw and twisted; the romance is aggressive, edgy and provocative; the characters are dramatic, tragic and intense.

“Where do we go from here? Where do we even start?”
That is the real problem. What do we do with this information?
“My best guess is that our next move should be to go to L.A. and find a way to see what Aiden Romanov knows,” Amy replies.
“But who can go?” Mom rasps. It’s another good question.
“I was thinking I could—” Amy begins but I cut her off by raising my hand.
“No. If your next words were to go to L.A. then it’s a no,” I answer and Mom nods.
“We are not putting you in any more danger,” Mom agrees.
“I don’t know what I would do if something happened to you,” I say. “Please tell me Jude won’t know you helped us.”
“No, he won’t. My contact works outside the realms of everything, and that’s why I didn’t use any of my devices at work or at home. He will never know.”
“Good. I think that’s it. You should stop helping now.”
“I can’t just stop helping. What are you going to do?” Her brows pinch and the worry I saw earlier in her bright green eyes intensifies.
What am I going to do?
That’s such a good question.
Eric’s in captivity, and if I marry Jude, the same fate awaits me. Marrying him will be the anchor to my hell.
I will be in captivity, and what do I think is going to happen to Mom?
If Jude can threaten my life so easily and tell me fucked up shit about not wanting something to happen to me after the wedding, what do I really think he’ll do to my mother?
If he can make my brother disappear for five years, can I be foolish enough to think worse won’t happen to me?
This is just the tip of the shit and…I have a really bad idea.
An idea which takes residence in my soul with each passing second. “I’ll go,”I say and they both look at me as if I’ve just lost my mind.
It’s laughable because I wonder the same.
Have I gone crazy?
Do I really think I can save Eric and change things?
Stop Jude?
Find Aiden and do what?
I have no plan and I’m just me.
Olivia Markov.
There’s nothing special about me.
But I’d sure as fuck prefer to walk in the valley of the shadow of death, in the lair of beasts, than sign my life away to Jude Kuzmin.
“No,” Mom blurts. “Olivia no.”
“Then what? What should we do? Leave things as they are? Leave Eric to die in captivity? You want me to marry Jude so he can accidentally kill me, then kill you?”
“Olivia it’s dangerous.”
“Don’t you think I know that.”
“Olivia, I have to agree with your mother,” Amy says. “Aiden Romanov is a very dangerous man, and we have no idea what the newly found Syndicate members are like.”
“You’re telling me this, and you were offering to go?”
“Eric is my friend. I just want to help.”
“You have babies.”
“I know, and I… I just feel bad I can’t do more.”
“You’ve helped enough.”
“But we’re stuck. How are you even going to escape? There are guards everywhere, and they’re with you twenty-four seven.”
And if I escape Mom’s dead. There must be a way around this.
When I think about yesterday when I saw Jude and the way he treated me I shudder inwardly.
He wants us to focus on that fucking wedding, and every time the word is mentioned I feel like I want to die.
I close my eyes and the thought of the wedding stirs an idea in my mind. An idea that just might work. My eyes snap open and I look at Amy and then at Mom.
“I think I might have come up with something. Something that will get me to Aiden Romanov.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 11, 2021

Settled in the tranquil remoteness of the Scottish Highlands, Ardnoch Estate caters to the rich and famous. It is as unattainable and as mysterious as its owner —ex-Hollywood leading man Lachlan Adair—and it’s poised on the edge of a dark scandal.

After narrowly escaping death, police officer Robyn Penhaligon leaves behind her life in Boston in search of some answers. Starting with Mac Galbraith, the Scottish father who abandoned her to pursue his career in private security. To re-connect with Mac, Robyn will finally meet a man she’s long resented. Lachlan Adair. Hostility instantly brews between Robyn and Lachlan. She thinks the head of the Adair family is high-handed and self-important. And finding closure with Mac is proving more difficult than she ever imagined. Robyn would sooner leave Ardnoch, but when she discovers Mac is embroiled in a threat against the Adairs and the exclusive members of the estate, she finds she’s not yet ready to give up on her father.

Determined to ensure Mac’s safety, Robyn investigates the disturbing crimes at Ardnoch, forcing her and Lachlan to spend time together. Soon it becomes clear a searing attraction exists beneath their animosity, and temptation leads them down a perilous path.
While they discover they are connected by something far more addictive than passion, Lachlan cannot let go of his grip on a painful past: a past that will destroy his future … if the insidious presence of an enemy lurking in the shadows of Ardnoch doesn’t do the job first.

REVIEW:HERE WITH ME is the first instalment in Samantha Young’s contemporary adult ADAIR FAMILY erotic, romance series focusing on the Adair siblings of the Scottish Highlands. This is former Hollywood action hero Lachlan Adair, and twenty-eight year old, former Boston police officer turned photographer Robyn Penhaligon’s story line.

Told from first person (Robyn) and third person (Lachlan) perspective HERE WITH ME follows the building romance and relationship between former Hollywood action hero Lachlan Adair, and twenty-eight year old, former Boston police officer turned photographer Robyn Penhaligon. Approximately one year earlier, Robyn’s life on the Boston Police Force came to a grinding halt, and in the aftermath Robyn knew she had to make peace with her biological father, a man she hasn’t seen in close to twenty years but Mac Galbraith had taken a permanent position as head of security for former Hollywood action hero Lachlan Adair, and hasn’t returned stateside in a number of year. Heading to Scotland to confront the father she barely knew, Robyn would come face to face with the man with whom she would fall in love. Enter Lachlan Adair, head of the Manor, and a surly, arrogant and over protective Scottish bear. What ensues is the tempestuous relationship between Lachlan and Robyn, and the potential fall-out as Robyn, Mac and Lachlan have become targets of a twisted mind, a mind that is determined to take them all down.

Robyn Penhaligon arrived in Scotland at the same time threats against Lachlan took on a more sinister pall but when Robyn’s father Mac is caught in the middle, our heroine makes it her mission to find the person(s) responsible for threatening the lives of the people she loves. Lachlan Adair wants nothing to do with our story line heroine believing she has come to cause problems for the man he calls a brother and a friend but something about Robyn pulls at Lachlan’s heart, a heart he refuses to give to anyone else. Lachlan doesn’t do relationships, and in this, he is adamant about never wanting to fall in love.

The relationship between Lachlan and Robyn begins acrimoniously as Lachlan refuses to accept Robyn into his life, a life he believes works well just as it is but someone is stalking our story line hero, and Robyn, with her previous work in the Boston PD, makes it her mission to uncover the truth but the longer Robyn remains in Scotland, the closer our couple begin to fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including the introduction of some of Lachlan’s siblings including Brodan, Thane, Arrochar, Arran; Robyn’s half sister Regan, and her parents Seth and Stacey; Robyn’s former partner in the BPD Autry Davis; Lachlan’s exes, actress Lucy Wainwright, and make up artist Leighanne; housekeeper Sarah McCulloch, neighbour Callum McCulloch; yoga instructor Eredine Willows, as well as several former and current Hollywood stars, and numerous members of Lachlan’s staff.

HERE WITH ME is a character driven, detailed and complex story line. The premise is intriguing and twisted; the romance is intimate and provocative; the characters are spirited, tragic and edgy. HERE WITH ME is a dramatic and intense introduction to Samantha Young’s ADAIR FAMILY series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 11, 2021.

Even though she’s done well with her disability, Nita Yoder has always depended on her parents to help her. She’s happy with her job as a teacher’s aide and living with her mother since her father’s death, but when her only parent is taken from her suddenly, she’s left floundering.

As a local EMT, Ansel “Dip” Watts has seen it all, but he’s never seen anything quite like the beautiful, vulnerable woman whose deceased mother was transported to the hospital in his ambulance. When he discovers Braden “Monkey” Nichols’ wife is her best friend, he sets out to win the heart of the beautiful Nita, especially when he learns her most precious secret.

The attraction is instantaneous, but almost as quickly, danger follows. Her fellow teacher seems very insistent that Ansel is the wrong man for her, and with his pushing and prodding, Nita makes a grave mistake, one that could cost her the relationship she’s built with Ansel. She takes one misstep after another until she finds herself in unthinkable peril, all because of her mother’s insurance policy and her own stubbornness. Ansel tries to stop her. Braden and Tanna try to stop her. She won’t listen.

And she’ll have to pay the ultimate price.

Ansel, Braden, and FBI Special Agent Cruz Livingston, with a little help from San Antonio Police Department’s Lieutenant Quint Axton, are out to solve the mystery and find her before it’s too late. Russian mobsters, ex-convict con men, and Nita’s own stubbornness make that hard to do. When it all comes down, it’s up to Ansel to make it all happen. He’s trained for a lot of unusual situations.

Nothing could have prepared him for this.

Revisit Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Nita’s friends, Tanna, Braden, Max, and Daniel Nichols, in Shelter for Nita, the tenth book in the Bluegrass Bravery series, inspired by an actual event in my ancestry. They’re joined by FBI Special Agent Cruz Livingston and the San Antonio Police Department’s Lieutenant Quint Axton from Susan Stoker’s original Badge of Honor in the hunt for a man who’s not what he seems and the bravery of a hero who will never give up on the woman he loves

REVIEW: SHELTER FOR NITA is the tenth instalment in Deanndra Hall’s contemporary adult BLUEGRASS BRAVERY erotic, romantic suspense series featuring characters previously introduced in one of author Susan Stoker’s many story lines and series. This is forty two year old, EMT Ansel ‘Dip’ Watts, and thirty five year old teacher’s aide Nita Yoder’s story line, SHELTER FOR NITA can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Several characters from Deanndra Hall’s series, as well as Susan Stoker’s series cross over for cohesion and familiarity.

Told from several third person perspective including Nita and Ansel SHELTER FOR NITA follows the building relationship between forty-two year old EMT Ansel Watts, and thirty-five year old Nita Yoder. Nita Yoder has cerebral palsy, and with it often comes the difficulty of not only physical activities but often mental and emotional fractures in her psyche. Upon the death of her beloved mother, Nita was emotionally worn down and didn’t remember meeting our story line hero but something about Nita drew Ansel like a moth to a flame, and Ansel was hoping for a chance at a relationship with Nita Yoder. As Ansel started a slow seduction of our story line heroine, someone else was about to push into her life, confusing our heroine about her current relationship. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Ansel and Nita, and the potential fall-out as Nita’s naivety and stubbornness threaten any chance at a happily ever after, and place our heroine in the direct line of fire.

Ansel Watts never thought he would find someone to love having loved and lost in the past. Meeting Nita Yoder gave Ansel thoughts for a second chance at love but Nita’s innocence and battle with CP may be a hurdle he could not overcome. Nita Yoder believes herself to be independent and strong but our heroine’s vulnerability may be what threatens any chance at a happily ever after. Easily swayed by suggestion, Nita finds herself the target of unscrupulous evil, while pushing our hero out of her. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to firefighter Braden Nichols and his significant other Tanna (Shelter for Tanna), as well as several other characters from previous story lines including “FBI Special Agent Cruz Livingston, and San Antonio Police Department’s Lieutenant Quint Axton. The requisite evil has many faces.

SHELTER NITA is a story of family, friendships, betrayal and greed. The premise is engaging and entertaining; the characters are colorful and energetic; the romance is seductive and sweet but I struggled with the heroine’s attitude on numerous occasions but given that her emotional outbursts and inability to not always comprehend the affects of her actions may be as of a result of her cerebral palsy, I have to take that under consideration for the overall story.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 11, 2021.

Rafe “Rocco” Martinelli was never one for the family business. Alas, being born into a crime syndicate means doing the family’s bidding and making sure you’re connected—and, yes, breaking a few kneecaps. Rafe would love nothing more than to hang up his enforcer apron and live a quiet life, but as more and more higher-ups in rival clans turn up dead, Rafe realizes he doesn’t have a choice. Especially not when the captivating and gorgeous bratva princess needs his help.

Dr. Annika Tarenkov learned early on that her life belongs to her family. She’s a pawn in the long game, a bargaining chip for power and prestige. She gave up the only person in her life she thought she could be happy with, all for the greater good of the family. Now, a newly made widow and desperately seeking answers, she’s forced to confront her past as it converges with her present. But all it does is make her wonder about her future and how she can make Rafe hers again. While being with him is like wrangling a toddler at times, he still makes her heart race and her breath catch. And she wouldn’t feel safer with anyone else.

With the chips seemingly stacked against them, they must work to uncover the perpetrators of the nefarious plot that’s been brewing for some time—before it’s too late.

This is thirty-five year old, crisis management consultant/fixer Quinten Lake, and twenty-nine year old accountant Hayden Prescott’s story line. CALCULATED RISK can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Hayden Prescott no longer feels safe, and at he insistence of her best friend Parker Maxwell, attends a self defense/ weapons class sponsored by Blackbridge Security where she will meet the man with whom she will fall in love. Enter Blackbridge Security crisis management consultant Quinten Lake. Before class ever begins, fellow security specialist Wren Nelson (Shot in the Dark 2) presents our hero with a list focusing on several issues of which each attendee has struggled, and Quinten soon learns that a house-invasion has left our heroine frightened for her life. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the couples we have met in previous storylines as well as Wren’s foul-mouthed bird ‘Puff Daddy.
