ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 8, 2019

Dean Walker is all about keeping life simple. He’s effortlessly talented and intelligent—spending his summers playing drums in the local band and the rest of the year teaching high school in the same Jersey town where he grew up. He likes his love life simple too, enjoying the commitment-free hook-ups his good looks and sexy charm have always made oh so easy.

Then he meets Lainey Burrows. And his simple, easy life gets turned upside down.

One wild one-night stand was all it was ever supposed to be, so Lainey is shocked when she discovers that her sizzling summer fling is also her son’s new math teacher. But that’s nothing compared to the most unexpected twist of all—their hot hook-up left Lainey knocked up, and now they’re about to become parents. Together.

What ensues is an addictive, insatiable, sweet and tender romance that won’t be simple, but it will be more than worth the fight.

••••••••

REVIEW:Getting Played begins with Lainey Burrows out one night with her sister and brother-in-law at a bar having drinks and listening to some music. It doesn’t take Lainey, or anyone else, long to notice the hot drummer who keeps staring her way. Once the set is over, said drummer makes his way over to where Lainey is sitting and they strike up a conversation. When it starts to get late, Lainey’s family members leave the bar and encourage her to have a good time.

After Lainey and Dean, the hot drummer, have a few more drinks, they decide to head back to where he is staying while the band had been playing in the area. Lainey is a little hesitant at first, but then decides that a one-night stand might do her some good. She’ll have some fun and head back home to her life as a lifestyle vlogger and single mom and move herself and her son to the house she will be decorating and vlogging about in a new town.

What neither Lainey, nor Dean, plan on is the off the charts attraction they feel for each other. When their passionate night is over, Lainey tries to sneak out, but Dean rouses and they tell each other goodbye. Once Dean wakes later, he is so mad at himself for not getting her number, or hell, even her last name. Little do either of them know how life changing that one will be for both of them…….

Getting Played is a wonderfully written story. The characters are masterfully written. Lainey has made a life for herself and her son and has a wonderful outlook on life. She makes friends easily and is a help to anyone and everyone who needs it. Dean is an easygoing guy, smart and good looking. His circle of friends in his hometown are amazing. He does have a bit of a womanizing past, but his Grams knows that he just hasn’t met the right one. He is a teacher at the local high school and an assistant football coach. The secondary characters are well written and I can’t wait to read more about them. This is the first I’ve read by Emma Chase, but will not be the last. You are pulled into the story from the very first word. If you like contemporary romance with palpable chemistry and a scorching romance, you’ll not go wrong with this one. Well done, Emma Chase!! Very, very well done!

I find Lainey in the living room—standing on a ladder, with those long, toned legs peeking out from itty bitty cotton black shorts and a power drill in her hand, while Bruce Springsteen sings “I’m Goin’ Down” from a speaker in the corner.
And, dear God—the things I could do to her on that ladder.
Wonderful, filthy things that instantly make my heart pound and my cock throb. She’s the perfect height for me to just walk over there and put my mouth between her legs. I picture it, see it in my mind—the way she’d grip my hair and pant my name, arch her back and writhe against my face . . .
But then I catch sight of the small bump of her stomach, and reality smacks me in the head. I think about the baby—and how making Lainey lose her mind three feet off the ground wouldn’t be the safest option. My protective instinct overrides the desire to get freaky on the ladder.
“Hey, Dean.” She sets the drill on the ledge and picks up a beeping light green rectangle, running it along the wall.
“What are you doing up there?” I ask.
I don’t have a decorative bone in my body, but the room looks good—with light gray walls and navy corduroy covered couches, reclaimed wood tables and a dozen different-sized candles filling the white-washed brick fireplace. It’s clean and simple but warm, the kind of place you’d look forward to coming back to every day.
“I’m going to hang up those boards.” Lainey gestures to three square planks, with ornamental arrows burned black into the wood. “I just want to make sure this stud-finder works.”
“If you’re looking for a stud,” I wink, “I’m standing right in front of you.”
“Ha-ha. I’ll keep that in mind.”
She turns back to the wall, reaching up over her head and stretching onto her tippy toes on the narrow step. I move under the ladder to catch her if she goes ass over end, and a stab of terror slices through me at the thought that Lainey would still be doing this if I wasn’t here. Alone. Without Jason even in the room in case something went terribly wrong.
What the hell is up with that?
“I read that you’re not supposed to reach above your head when you’re pregnant.”
“That’s just an old wives’ tale.”
I wrap my hands around her hips, holding her steady.
“Maybe the old wives knew what they were talking about. Come on, come down.”
Slowly, Lainey lowers her arms and turns in my hands. I lift her off the ladder by her hips, tilting my head back and holding her above me for a moment, before sliding her slowly down. And the feel of her softness rubbing against me, the friction—it’s fantastic.
When her feet are on the ground, I dip my head and our faces are just millimeters apart. Close enough to count the sprinkle of cute, light freckles that dust the bridge of her nose.
“That’s better,” I say softly, taking the stud-finder out of her hands. “I’ll do it.”
“Okay.” Lainey’s tongue peeks out, wetting her bottom lip. “Thanks.”
Like I said . . . fucking killing me.

Description:
As the holiday season begins, Laurel McCullough could use some good news. She and her husband, Zach, have been praying for a baby that seems more and more like an impossible dream, and they’ve had to move in with her beloved grandmother, Helen, who’s having trouble taking care of herself. But when Laurel contacts a local home-care organization for help, there are no caregivers available.

Then Mrs. Miracle appears at her door. No stranger to lending a helping hand to a family in need, Mrs. Miracle reveals herself to be nothing short of a godsend. Helen’s even convinced she’s an angel! Still, Laurel has to admit that Helen has become noticeably happier and more engaged, decorating the family Christmas tree and setting up the nativity with Mrs. Miracle’s companionship. In the meantime, Laurel and Zach begin to encounter curious signs, all pointing toward the arrival of a special baby.

With Christmas approaching, there appears to be even more to Mrs. Miracle than meets the eye. In a classic turn of Debbie Macomber’s signature seasonal magic, Laurel, Zach, and Helen experience a holiday of heavenly proportions.

Review:

A Mrs. Miracle Christmas by Debbie Macomber is another one of her heartwarming, sweet Christmas stories. Those who read Macomber are aware of who Mrs. Miracle is, as there have been books on the wonderful Mrs. Miracle and well as Hallmark movies.

We meet Laurel McCullough, who is an elementary school teacher, and her husband, Zach, who have been trying to adopt a child, and suffered a big loss, when they succeeded to foster and adopt a son, only to lose him when the father of the child claimed him in the final days of the adoption.  Being heartbroken, Laurel does not want to go through the pain again; but Zach still does not want to give up hope.

Laurel has lived with her grandmother, Helen, since she was 10 and when she married Zach, they had Helen move in with them.  Slowly, Helen begins to get confused or forgets things, as she is in the start of dementia, and when one day she gets lost, Laurel decides its time to get help from a caregiver, during the hours she is at work.  When no one is available until after the Christmas holidays, Laurel is shocked when Mrs. Miracle shows up at the door step saying she is a last-minute availability and would love to help.

Helen and Mrs. Miracle get along fabulously, and in a short time Mrs. Miracle is telling her stories about being an angel, her friends in heaven, and how she reports to Gabriel.  Mrs. Miracle also reveals to Helen that a baby will become part of their lives in the near future.  It doesn’t take long for Helen to believe everything, but knows she needs not tell too much to Laurel or Zach, as they would not believe a word of it.

What follows is a heartwarming & enjoyable story that pulls on your emotions, as we also get to see the grief and despair that Laurel and Zach suffer through;  but their love is strong enough to be willing give up trying to adopt, as long as they have each other.  Macomber touches base on emotional themes such as, infertily, adoption, foster care, as well as dementia.   A Mrs. Miracle Christmas was a wonderful read, with a Christmas background and a great cast of characters.  It certainly felt like Christmas and believing in miracles.

REVIEW: WAR OF HEARTS is the first instalment in S. Young’s (aka Samantha Young) contemporary, adult, TRUE IMMORTALITY paranormal romance series focusing on thirty year old, Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan Conall MacLennan, and twenty-five year old, Thea Quinn.

Told from dual third person perspectives ( Conall and Thea) WAR OF HEARTS follows the building relationship between thirty year old, Alpha and Chief of Clan MacLennan Conall MacLennan, and twenty-five year old, Thea Quinn. Conall Maclennan has been tasked with bringing in a killer; a young woman of unknown supernatural origin but a woman who has been identified as the killer in a series of deaths across Europe. Unbeknownst to Conall, Thea has been targeted by someone from her past, someone who is desperate to bring Thea under his control. What ensues is the continental journey of Thea and Conall; the building relationship between Thea and Conall; and the potential fall-out as Thea finds herself facing her own mortality.

Thea Quinn lost her parents at an early age and therefore has no idea as to her natural heritage. Raised by an abusive and sadistic man, Thea’s escape from imprisonment meant our heroine must remain under the radar without relationships or friends. Conall MacLennan is about to discover that the woman he has been contracted to bring under control is his fated mate. Unaware of the truth, Conall must come to terms with the possibility that his mate is a killer, and unable to control.

The relationship between Conall and Thea is one of immediate attraction but begins acrimoniously as Conall finds himself battling between head and heart as it pertains to the job at hand. Thea is not what she appears to be, and when the truth is revealed, Conall must protect the woman with whom he will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters many of whom are members of Conall’s Pack. We are introduced to Conall’s sister Callie and her soon to be husband James; hunters Grace and Angus MacLennan vampire Vik; North American Alpha Peter Canid, and his children Richard and Sienna; Jasper Ashforth, and his son devon.

WAR OF HEARTS is a story of family, responsibility, power and control. The premise is fast paced, engaging and entertaining; the character are energetic and dynamic; the romance seductive and captivating. WAR OF HEARTS is an exciting, imaginative and inventive tale of fated mates and happily ever after.

Stepping back inside the motel room, Thea halted as Conall came out of the bathroom. His height caused a logistical problem for her next move.
Although his color hadn’t fully returned to normal, the wolf was looking much stronger. She didn’t know if she could take him in a fight when he was at full strength, which was more than a little concerning. As if he’d read her mind, he cut her an expressionless look. “You should have left me to die, lass.”
“Probably. I guess I’m just going to have to take the chance you were bluffing.”
He frowned and opened his mouth to question her, but Thea had already made her move.
Before he could comprehend it, she was on the bed behind him and reaching for his head before his weakened reflexes could catch up.
The crack of his neck echoed around the room, causing a sick lurch in Thea’s stomach.
For some reason, stupid tears stung her eyes as she watched his body hit the ground with an almighty thud. Why should she care? It wasn’t like he was dead. She’d knocked him out. For … however long he took to heal.
And he had stuck her with that goddamn injection.
Speaking of …
Thea jumped off the mattress, avoiding Conall’s body. Earlier when she’d been treating his wounds, she’d spied the syringes in the first aid kit. Grabbing them, Thea hurried out of the motel room and toward the fields beyond. Quickly she dug a hole with her bare hands and buried the syringes. Hurrying back, she avoided staring at Conall because he looked very much dead.
She grabbed his wallet and as she took his money, leaving him his credit cards, a folded-up photograph caught her attention. Curiosity got the better of her and she pulled it out. Smoothing her fingers across the picture, she spotted who she thought was Conall only to realize it wasn’t. The man who looked like him was standing next to a much younger Conall, and Thea deduced it was his father. The younger Conall had his arm around the waist of a small, redheaded girl buried into his side. And beside the man she’d mistaken for Conall was a beautiful redheaded woman.
Was this Conall and his family?
They were standing on a rocky beach, a beautiful lake and mountains behind them.
Thea wondered which one of them was sick. Which of these people was he willing to sacrifice her for?
Memories of her own parents swelled in her throat, burning and screaming to get out. But Thea shoved them back down as she shoved the photograph into his wallet.
There were times she pulled those memories out and let herself swim in the pain because it was worth it to remember the happy moments.
But now was not the time.
With a ruthless supernatural sure to wake up from a broken neck wanting to kill her, and some unknown entity out there hunting her too, now was very much the time to go.

MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE
Million Dollar #2
by Katy Evans
Release Date: July 23, 2019
Genre: adult, contemporary, erotic, romance

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / Chapters Indigo /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release July 23, 2019

If someone had bet Nell a million dollars that she would be saying “I do” to a complete stranger on national television, she’d have called them crazy, but with her crushing student loan payments sending her deep into the red, she’s out of options. This should be nothing more than a business transaction—until she sets eyes on her groom, and everything changes.

The game is on the instant Luke spots Penelope “Nell” Carpenter. He’s out for the money, yes, but getting a little dirty with Nell doesn’t sound too bad either. Everyone knows he’s not the marrying kind, so it’s a good thing it’s just for show. God knows he’s the worst guy his pretty wife should pick for real.

They have nothing in common, but if they want the grand prize, they’ll have to beat out eight other couples. Proving that total opposites attract should be easy enough…as long as they don’t fall in love in the process.

••••••••••••

REVIEW:MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE is the second instalment in Katy Evans’ contemporary, adult MILLION DOLLAR erotic, romance series. This is twenty-five year old, Dr. Penelope ‘Nell’ Carpenter PhD, and twenty-eight year old, bar owner Luke Cross’ story line. MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. Luke was first introduced in book one Million Dollar Devil.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nell and Luke) MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE follows the reality TV show Million Dollar Marriage where qualifying contestants find themselves married to a complete stranger on day one. Enter twenty-five year old, Dr. Penelope ‘Nell’ Carpenter PhD, and twenty-eight year old, bar owner Luke Cross, who are paired together for their antagonising personalities, contrary discipline, and opposite physical appearances. Nell owes a half-million dollars in student loans, and Luke’s bar is mortgaged for the same amount. Winning the Million Dollar Marriage game would benefit both but falling in love was never on the agenda. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Nell and Luke, and the potential fall-out as perceived betrayal threatens to pull them apart.

MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE is a story of opposites attract where a game show similar to ‘Married at First Sight’™ combined with ‘The Amazing Race’™ finds the contestants battling for a one-million dollar prize package. Our heroine, Dr. Penelope Carpenter struggles with her attraction to a man who is her complete opposite, while Luke Cross quickly becomes enamored of our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are reintroduced to YouTube sensation James Rowan (Million Dollar Devil); Luke’s grandmother, as well as a large number of contestants and officials with the reality game show.

MILLION DOLLAR MARRIAGE is a story of ‘battle of wills’, opposites attract, and physical endurance as our couple muse endure a series of obstacles before crossing the finish line. As the contestants slowly succumb to a losing battle, Nell and Luke’s time together forges a stronger bond, leading them towards a happily ever after. The premise is entertaining; the romance is seductive; the characters are colorful and charismatic but it took me awhile to warm up to our story line heroine who struggled to accept Luke as her game show partner.

Million Dollar Romances with Katy Evans

Meet the Million Dollar series books. Books that are all about passion, romance, and all about what people will do for money—actually, a LOT of money. In book one, Million Dollar Devil, we have a sexy, raw, bad-mannered daredevil willing to pose as a sophisticated rich guy – while skillfully seducing the heroine in the process.

In book two, Million Dollar Marriage, Nell and Luke both agree to become contestants in a reality show that requires—gasp, marriage. Marriage to a complete stranger, which is appalling. But, it’s a fake marriage, right? It doesn’t matter that they are complete opposites. Nell will be the brains, and Luke will be the brawn. For a moment there, they both think they’ve got it covered. But the challenges end up being far more than they anticipated, especially the unexpected challenge of resisting falling in love with each other.

I’d always wanted to write a reality show book. I mean, reality shows are so addictive to watch, but though I’ve loved indulging in binge-watching Survivor or The Amazing Race, I’ve always wanted a little more romance to go with all that adrenaline and excitement. What happens when you’re put under all that pressure, and aside from that, have just met a person who gives your heart wings? Let’s face it. Falling in love is a little scary when you do it privately, so how does the public nature of a relationship hinder or help the romance between two strangers?

Well, in Nell and Luke’s case, being exposed to the cameras all day, every day, was more of a hindrance. And yet without those cameras, would they have given each other the time of day to begin with? 🙂

I would totally write another reality TV show romance. It’s been one of the funnest, most uniques writes I’ve ever written to date.

New York Times Bestselling author

Will Wang says, “Teams, you have the choice to participate in the next challenge. If you decide to, you’ll receive a minimum of seventy thousand dollars! All you have to do is say YES!”I shrug and call out, “YES!”

Will laughs. “Hold on, buckaroo. There’s a catch you might want to know about. And that brings us to the main premise of the show. John Phillips, are you out there? Please, join me on the podium.”

A man in a suit stands up, and the crowd parts to let him through. He jogs up to the podium, shakes Will’s hand, and stands beside him.

“John is here for a very special reason. A very special ceremony, if you will.”

The cameras are focused on our faces, and I know something is up.

“Yes, in fact, John happens to be a justice of the peace.”

The crowd gasps. Next to me, Penny’s body stiffens.

“Yes. In order to participate in the next challenge and any challenges going forward, you and your partner must be man and wife!”

Louder gasp. The screens overhead focus in on the shock of the contestants. Penny’s trembling. Ivy looks pissed. Ace is hurling out f-bombs into the air. The Indian girl has sunk to the ground and is covering her face in her palms. It’s chaos.

Me? I’m calm as can be.

It’s called Million Dollar Marriage. Did they think marriage wouldn’t factor in?

I’m in.

“You will need to spend the rest of the time living with your partner as a unit. You’ll do everything together for the duration of the contest. There will be challenges that test your endurance, your strength, and your ability to work together as a couple. If you win, you’ll each get two hundred and fifty thousand dollars and the opportunity to have the marriage annulled, should you choose. BUT, if you decide to stay together as lawfully married, you’ll together receive the grand prize of ONE MILLION DOLLARS and an all-expenses-paid honeymoon package!”

I look around. All the couples are yin and yang. It’s like they ran our personality tests through a machine and picked out the person we’d be least compatible with.

“Now, we understand this is a big commitment on your part, so we’ll give you and your partner five minutes to talk things out and decide what you’d like to do. Please note that once your decision is made, it is final, and you will be married here, on the spot, before you board a flight to where the real competition will begin.” He winks at the losers’ wall. “If you drop out now, you’ll go home with fifty thousand dollars, but if you decide to continue on, you’ll earn seventy thousand and the chance to compete for even more! Time starts . . . now!”

I turn to Penny. She’s hugging herself and won’t look at me. “Hey. I’m in.”

She doesn’t say anything.

I wave a hand in front of her face.

“Are you crazy?” she finally says, staring at me. “I’d never marry you.”

The relationship between Jake and Mallory is one of second chances; a rekindling romance with the potential for something more but also the possibility of an expiry date as Mallory’s time in Magnolia Sound comes to a close. Mallory struggles with the memories of what was, and issues of trust as they pertain to the man she once loved: her immature attitude left something to be desire. Jake is willing to grovel to ensure Mallory knows she means everything and more. The $ex scenes are mostly implied.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters including all of the members of the immediate and extended Westbrook family. The reading of Zeke Westbrook’s will let’s everyone know the old man’s plans for the future.

REMIND ME is a story of family, friendships, life and death, second chances and falling in love. The premise is delightful and revealing; the characters are sassy and animated; the romance is passionate. REMIND ME is an encouraging and heart warming look as one family comes to terms with love and loss.

“But we were already hanging out,” Mallory reminded him and the look Sam gave her bordered on hysterical. “What? What’s so funny?”
“We all know I’m the third wheel here and the two of you would like nothing more than to be alone, so…I’m leaving,” he said, walking back into the kitchen to put the beer back in the refrigerator. “I’m gonna go home and tell Mom what the plan is–I’m going out to be a good cousin, while you’re here doing…I don’t know…Jake.” He winked. “You two have fun!”
Jake knew he didn’t let out a breath until the back door closed and he saw Sam walk down the deck stairs from the living room window. “Well…that was…awkward.”
“Just a little,” Mallory agreed. “Ugh…why is my brother such a dork?”
Laughing, Jake shifted them until her head was on his shoulder. “I wouldn’t call him a dork, he’s just a little…”
“He’s a dork. Trust me. We’re twins and I’m allowed to say it.” She shook her head. “He’s going to be snarky about this until he leaves.”
“About what?”
“You and me. Us. The fact that he knows what we’re doing.” She groaned. “Now, every time I mention seeing you or doing something, he’s going to make some sort of doofus comment about how I’m doing you. I’m telling you, he’s the worst.”
But Jake couldn’t help but laugh. He didn’t have any siblings so he didn’t understand the dynamics, but from where he was sitting, it was all pretty comical. The fact that they each other and had such obvious affection for each other was a pretty amazing thing. Maybe it was because they were twins or something. All he knew was that he hadn’t met many siblings with the kind of relationship Sam and Mallory had.
Plus, he liked knowing Sam looked out for her when he couldn’t.
And that one single thought had him going still.
This wasn’t going anywhere–this was about passing the time and getting her out of his system. He wasn’t supposed to be thinking about his feelings or hers. This was temporary. They both saw the end before they started up again, so why was he suddenly feeling concerned about how Mallory was going to be when he wasn’t around?
“Jake?” she asked softly, looking up at him. “You okay?”
He nodded. Right now, he didn’t want to talk. Hell, he didn’t want to think either. All he wanted was to feel–feel Mallory’s body against his. Feel her skin under his hands. Feel her breath mingling with his.
Standing, he gently tugged her to her feet before plunging his hands into her hair and giving her a searing kiss. If she was surprised by the sudden change of events, she didn’t show it. If anything, she kissed him back with equal abandon.
So good, he thought. Kissing Mallory was always so damn good…
When he had invited her to come home with him earlier–before Sam showed up–Jake envisioned them coming in and talking and maybe sharing some lazy kisses before he seduced her into staying the night. But as Mallory pressed up against him and purred, he was pretty sure nothing was going to be slow and lazy, and that he was the one being seduced.
And he loved every minute of it.
Without breaking the kiss, they maneuvered across the room and down the hall, stopping once so he could back her against the wall and grind against her. She tore her lips from his and sighed his name like a plea. Reaching down, Jake lifted her until her legs wrapped around his waist and it took every bit of self-control he possessed not to take her right then and there. Her dress was bunched up at her waist and the barely-there panties would be gone with only the slightest of tugs…
“Bed,” he growled against her throat even as he continued to rub against her. “I want you in my bed.”
“Then take me there,” she said breathlessly.
Easier said than done, he thought, forcing himself to walk the last ten feet to his room. At the side of the bed, he simply let himself fall and kept Mallory in his arms. They laughed and rolled until they were comfortable and then he sank back into the kiss.
Mallory tugged at his shirt and once she had it pulled free of his trousers, her nails scraped up his back and it gave him chills. Sitting up quickly, he ripped the shirt off–buttons flying in every direction.
“Wow,” she panted. “That was incredibly sexy.”
“Oh, yeah?” he asked, his own breath coming out roughly. “How do you feel about this?” His hand snaked under her dress and he tugged her tiny panties off–the sound of the fabric ripping seemed insanely loud in the room.
“Oh!” she cried as her hips bucked off the bed. Jake knew what she wanted and he was more than happy to give it to her. In a flash her dress was off. He peeled her bra off with his teeth as she writhed beneath him. “Jake…”
Once he had her completely naked, his self-control completely vanished. His mouth and hands were everywhere. While he licked and suckled at her breasts, his hand was ruthlessly teasing her between her legs. Watching Mallory lose control was one of his favorite pastimes and as he urged her on, he knew it would always be this way. She cried out his name again and again and again and each time it ratcheted his own arousal up more and more.
He hated to move away from her even for a second, but he still had half of his own clothes to discard. Mallory reached for him as he moved away and he smoothed a hand across her stomach. “Soon,” he whispered. “I’m not going anywhere.”

Although she waited until she was in her 40’s to publish for the first time, writing has been a lifelong passion. ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 16, 2019

Even angels have their demons

Jordan Reiss is well aware that if she was on fire the entire town of Oak Creek would probably go inside and make a sandwich. She can’t blame them. Her father scammed half the town out of their retirement funds, and then she…

She did so much worse.

She doesn’t expect forgiveness. But she’s back in town with no other options and just wants to be left alone to live on the fierce Wyoming land she’s missed so much during her six years in prison.

Former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood’s callsign may have been Angel, but he’ll be anything but to protect his sister. Especially from a pretty ex-con who has somehow weaseled her way into a job at his sister’s new bakery.

He doesn’t trust Jordan, even with her big gray eyes and quiet smile.

But when someone decides its time for Jordan to leave Oak Creek—preferably in a body bag—Gabe will have to put his distrust aside. Jordan needs her own guardian angel. And he happens to be one.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: ANGEL is the fourth instalment in Janie Crouch’s contemporary, adult LINEAR TACTICAL romantic suspense series focusing on a group of former Special Forces soldiers who own and operate Linear Tactical, an Oak Creek, Wyoming business specializing in survival skills, security and protection. This is twenty-three year old Jordan Reiss, and thirty-two year old former Navy SEAL and owner of Collingwood Technology Gabriel ‘Angel’ Collingwood’s story line. ANGEL can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.

NOTE: Some of the events in ANGEL run parallel to, and cross over with some of the events in book three-SHAMROCK.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Jordan and Gabriel) ANGEL follows the acrimonious relationship between twenty-three year old Jordan Reiss, and thirty-two year old former Navy SEAL and owner of Collingwood Technology Gabriel ‘Angel’ Collingwood. Eight years earlier Jordan’s world imploded when her sole surviving parent, Michael Reiss, scammed the town of Oak Creek Wyoming out of their retirement savings. Two years later, working several jobs to stay afloat our heroine is sentenced to six years for the death of a mother and child caused when she fell asleep at the wheel of her car. Fast forward to present day wherein Jordan returns to Oak Creek, Wyoming in an attempt to start over. Jordan, now persona non grata and the town pariah becomes the target of many twisted and unforgiving minds including former Navy SEAL Gabriel Collingwood, who is desperate to protect his sister, the woman who hired Jordan at the local bakery shop. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Jordan and Gabriel, and the fall-out as issues of trust, betrayal, lies and secrets continue to send Jordan’s life spiralling out of control.

All Jordan Reiss wants is to be left alone; to earn a little money to clothe and feed herself but the town of Oak Creek, Wyoming refuses to leave our heroine alone. From her father’s illegal scams that destroyed the small town, to the accident that killed a mother and child, Jordan is unable to forgive herself, or forget about the past. Falling for Gabriel Collingwood gave Jordan a hope for the future but like most of the townsfolk Gabriel struggles to look beyond the past.

The relationship between Gabriel and Jordan struggles in the face of preconceived notions, and Jordan’s history in Oak Creek, Wyoming. No longer a prisoner, yet still a prisoner, none the less, Jordan hides in plain sight as she continues to be the target of people looking for revenge, as well as the man with whom she will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters. We are reintroduced to Aiden Teague and Violet Collingwood (Shamrock #3), Finn Bollinger and Charlie Devereaux (Eagle #2), Zac Mackay and Anne Griffin (Cyclone #1); Linear Tactical warrior Dorian Lindstrom; Sheriff Curtis Nelson; as well as a number of business owners and townsfolk desperate to right a wrong brought upon Oak Creek by Jordan’s father Michael Reiss.

ANGEL is a story of betrayal, forgiveness, greed and love. The premise is heart breaking and powerful; the characters are energetic and dynamic but flawed; the romance is gritty and raw. ANGEL is an impassioned and emotional story of one woman’s struggle to move on from the past.
