ABOUT THE BOOK: Release DateJune 8, 2021

Things heat up (and take an unexpected turn) when a self-proclaimed romantic requests the help of a broody small-town mechanic.

Grayson Blake is a jackass.
There’s no other way to put it.
He comes into Fireside every day and orders a beer. It’s nearly impossible to get him to have a conversation while he drinks it. Smiles—or anything remotely close to it—are even more rare.
Despite his cantankerous personality, he’s so freaking gorgeous. His thick black hair, broad shoulders, and the tattoos that mark his calloused skin draw me in like a magnet. I don’t even care that he’s ten years older than me. I’m here for the age gap. And his broody, bad-boy persona is entirely more attractive than it should be.
I have a thing for the rough-around-the-edges mechanic. And I’ve heard through the grapevine that he has a thing for me too. But getting him to admit it will be as easy as catching lightning in a bottle.

REVIEW: My bag is packed and I’m ready to move to Cherry Falls!!

Grayson and Haley are two people that can’t seem to find their middle ground, she pushes his buttons, he is nothing but broody to her. Both can’t stand each other…until they do. 608 was such a fun, quick read that had me cheesy grinning the entire time I was reading it.

As a standalone novella in the Cherry Falls series, 608 was a fun, flirty read and AL never lets her readers down even with her bite size reads
.
Grayson is a Harley riding, ultra-hot mechanic that Haley can’t seem to coax any sort of interest from, and this drives her straight up the wall. Enter a deal between the two and things get real.

Heheheh!

Such a great read!

Vampire Guardian (Vampire Queen 17) by Joey W. Hill-Review tour

Vampire Guardian (Vampire Queen 17) by Joey W. Hill-Review tour

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO / Chapters Indigo / Google Play

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 15, 2021.

Fae and vampires never fall in love. Except when they do.

Adan has come to Club Atlantis to do a job. The BDSM club is to become part of the portal network for magic users. A born vampire with the blood of a Cherokee shaman and an Irish Seer, Adan is apprenticed to a Light Guardian helping him hone his skills to become a full sorcerer. Perhaps even a Guardian himself one day.

But Club Atlantis is a haven for a Fae female, an unwelcome distraction. His hatred for her kind means even her scent can set off his bloodlust.

Catriona is a Fae unsettled in her own world, and physiologically unable to be in the human one without extraordinary protections in place. She can’t put down roots anywhere. For a tree nymph, that’s a serious problem. One that calls for a solution that will appall the Fae world.

History says a vampire and a Fae who fall in love are destined for tragedy. But love has a way of refusing to be ignored. No matter the consequences

REVIEW:Part of a series.

Stand-alone? As I haven’t read any of the previous books in this series, I’d say yes, but I did get the feeling there are things going on in previous books, so I’ll probably go back and read the rest at some point. But it didn’t detract from the main story.

Vampires and Fae are bitter enemies? They don’t mix and they certainly don’t mate each other!

Adan is a young vampire (well to the vampire community he is) but he’s here to assess the BDSM club his boss/mentor sent him to check out.
The club intends to be more a club, it’s going to be used as a portal to different realms, and so it needs to be secure. His job is to enter undetected and then report back.

Adan was taken by the Fae as a very young boy, it changed him, and he swore never to be powerless again!

Becoming a light guardian is all Adan has ever wanted to be, to protect and wield magic, to help others as he himself was helped. He wants to become the youngest to do what only the oldest and strongest vampires can do. That path hasn’t been easy, he’s impatient and a little egotistical, so this job is an important step in his training.

Catriona a wood nymph. She doesn’t fit in anywhere. Too unusual to pretend to be human and unhappy in her realm, so coming to the club seemed the best option until she can work out what she wants. A quiet creature, but with a quiet strength that will hold her steady in this book.

Dealing with loss, pain and rejection, this book deals with it all. Both main characters know that they shouldn’t be together, but neither can stay away from each other.

His hate is all encompassing for the Fae and all of a sudden there is one staring at him from across the water! He wants to rip her throat out and drink her intoxicating blood but he also wants to dominate her! And that has him thinking she’s enchanted him somehow….

Time spent together has them fighting their feelings for one another. But how can Adan get past his hatred? And can Catorina be everything to him?

The master and servant plays a big part in this book, but it’s treated with reverence and respect. Those scenes were some of my favourite parts of the book, reading the interaction makes you understand a little more of the power play between the two characters.

We also get a byplay of secondary characters (these are from previous stories) which I was a totally inboard with (I need to know more about these now) ?

Can this couple really make a go of it? It was great watching them connect and grow as a couple, to read how they fought their feelings, and then fought to stay together.

Romance? There is plenty to keep the romantic happy, there is also enough spice to keep you riveted to the book.

I’ve read a few of the authors other series (Natural Desire) and I loved some of the books and characters in that series.

Recommend? Definitely. This book was one I couldn’t put down. And I’m now interested in the rest of the series. Beautifully written, and thought out really well. This author knows her genre, and she shows it in the mastery of her words. Your pulled in, you become entangled in the world. You hold your breath as they they battle both their feelings and both the communities they herald from. And when Adan gets the opportunity to train in the Underworld as a guardian, he’s torn! That means leaving everyone he knows, including his little Fae!

Will they survive the separation?

Catriona approached the St. Andrew’s cross. Her feet were delicate, lacking the calluses he would have expected from her shoeless preference. If vampires didn’t get gray hairs, it made sense that Fae—at least of her tree nymph variety—didn’t acquire calluses. She laid her cheek on the cross piece between the upper arms. The piece of BDSM equipment was adjusted for a taller person, so she had to stretch to do it. It made her backside tighten and tilt upward. A similar reaction happened in his groin. Was she doing it on purpose?

“What magical abilities do you possess?” Adan asked coolly.

As she turned her head, a light smile touched her lips. “What intelligent being would reveal that to someone who has not decided whether he is friend or foe?”

“Don’t play with me.”

Her smile vanished, her body going rigid as she pivoted back to the cross. “If my company offends you, my lord, you can return to your studies.”

Why the hell was he testing these waters? But he already knew the answer.

Dom, sub. Same room. Dungeon equipment.

Let poor judgment reign.

“Tell me what you’re trying to figure out, about the cross,” he said.

Her shoulders tensed. “How it works,” she said stiffly.

When he closed the distance between them, she flipped around to face him, so fast non-human speed got a checkbox on her list of skills. He logged her rabbiting pulse, her dilated eyes. Flight and defense reactions. But when his gaze dropped to her hands, he saw half-curled fists. Fight reaction.

“I’m not going to hurt you,” he said gruffly. “I’m going to show you. All right?”

She pressed her lips together, gave him a short nod. He could tell her to step onto the cross’s foot platforms, facing him, but he didn’t. He slid an arm around her waist and lifted her. Her willow lean body was surprisingly resilient, and way too female. All the trigger points went off, designed by the smirking, sadistic gods to make him respond to a woman’s proximity.

Keeping a steadying hand at her waist, he gripped her wrist and lifted it, aligning her right arm with that arm of the cross. “Leave your knuckles pressed to the wood.”

He brought down the adjustable handle, guided her fingers beneath it and did the same to the other hand. “Grip those, and don’t let go of them.”

The Dom woodworker had been inspired by a medieval rack, only for far better purpose. Adan slid both handles back up, bringing her up on her toes again. While his vampire senses could calculate precise reach, his experience as a Master told him where that extra inch was, past which a sub had to strain for him.

It lifted her chest, pressed it against his torso. He spread his hands over her wrists, and noted her knuckles were white where they gripped the handles. That, and the quiver of her breasts, told him she wasn’t calm.

Now she had the confused, little-bit-dazed look a submissive new to it did. He’d scented a hint of her arousal when she approached the cross. That bouquet had gone from fragrant, barely there, to a full-on, heady perfume of want.

He should suggest they play, right here and now. If she wanted to learn, there was nothing like hands-on experience. He dipped his head, intending to test those waters by brushing his lips up along the shell of her ear. Except that shell narrowed to a point, and when he followed that track, he saw her wings, framed inside the V-top of the cross and fluttering in uncertain agitation.

It brought him back to his senses. He’d cut his dick off before he’d put it inside a Fae.

Unfortunately, that part of his body didn’t care. His fingers itched to tease her heated wetness, his mouth wanted to taste. He wanted to slide into her so deep he’d reach all her mysteries, open up whatever magic she was spinning on his senses.

Her waiting on him so obediently, while her need grew, didn’t help. She’d kept her hands where he’d ordered them, her body on display, an unconscious invitation, and it made him angry. But he managed to speak in an even tone.

“The Dom straps your wrists up like this. Your ankles to the bottom pieces. He can choose to keep you facing him, or turn you around, depending on what he wants to access.”

Her breath flitted across his mouth like the brush of a feather. “What does he do, once he restrains me?”

“Whatever he wants.”

Her grey-green eyes became even softer, the color of down. “What would you do to me, my lord?”

He stepped back, releasing her so suddenly one of her feet left the platform. Her hands slipped away from the handles and she gripped the frame to steady herself. Emotions flipped across her face. Surprise. Hurt. Thoughtfulness. She straightened, linking her hands together, knotted fingers pressed to her abdomen.

“One moment, you look at me with desire,” she said. “Interest. Hunger. The next moment, what’s in your eyes becomes hatred. So much it hurts.”

“Hurts who?”

“Me. You. Everything.” The break in her voice betrayed her emotions. “It coats everything around you in reds and oranges, the colors of rage.”

He stared at her. “Put your arms and feet back where I had them.”

“Why?” She set her jaw, her fingers digging against her stomach. She was having trouble standing against his will. Knowing why only made him sink deeper into trouble.

“Because I told you to.” He touched her chin to bring her eyes from his throat up to his face. “I still won’t hurt you.”

He hadn’t said the words with any kind of gentleness, but he meant them. Even though the volatile reaction boiling in his gut told him he couldn’t do this much longer.

Since the handles were still where he’d moved them, she reached up with a graceful arch of her body, another unconscious sexual offering, especially with her thighs spread along the bottom legs of the cross.

Red and orange were the colors for passion as well. And rage and passion could get along well enough.

He closed the distance, bringing them almost nose to nose. She had a sweet one, small and straight, nostrils flared from her agitation. When he put his hands over her slim wrists, her lips parted. It made him want to unsheathe his fangs.

“I can hate what you are and have you all the same,” he said, low. “Make you beg for more. You’ll cherish my hatred, what I can summon from those fires to turn your body to flame.”

She trembled. Her eyes, so big and filled with the colors of earth, beckoned him to tumble into their depths. Into the heart of the earth itself, which was flame, too. A different kind of flame.

Her head turned, and she started. Her reaction pulled him out of his turmoil, such that he followed her gaze.

Whatever influence he’d had on her mind and emotions had resulted in a resurrection of the wood. The cross now had several cracks in its veneer, tiny shoots coming forth, green leaves unfurling.

“Life doesn’t respond to hate, my lord,” she said softly.

Joey W. Hill writes about vampires, mermaids, boardroom executives, cops, witches, angels, simple housemaids . . . pretty much wherever inspiration takes her. She’s penned over forty acclaimed titles and six award-winning series, and been awarded the RT Book Reviews Career Achievement Award for Erotica. But she’s especially proud and humbled to have won the support and enthusiasm of a wonderful, widely diverse readership.

So why erotic romance? “Writing great erotic romance is all about exploring the true face of who we are – the best and worst – which typically comes out in the most vulnerable moments of sexual intimacy.” She has earned a reputation for writing BDSM romance that not only wins her fans of that genre, but readers who would “never” read BDSM romance. She believes that’s because strong, compelling characters are the most important part of her books.

“Whatever genre you’re writing, if the characters are captivating and sympathetic, the readers are going to want to see what happens to them. That was the defining element of the romances I loved most and which shaped my own writing. Bringing characters together who have numerous emotional obstacles standing in their way, watching them reach a soul-deep understanding of one another through the expression of their darkest sexual needs, and then growing from that understanding into love – that’s the kind of story I love to write.”

Take the plunge with her, and don’t hesitate to let her know what you think of her work, good or bad. She thrives on feedback!

REVIEW:Mika Lane must have a plethora of imagination and more time on her hands that she knows what to do with. *Giggle* Her Dirty Jock is the twelfth, yes that’s right, the twelfth book in the Men at Work series, Lane’s awesome reverse harem romance series.

Franki is a college tutor, her current clients; three walking, talking sexy athlete gods, Garrett, Atlas and Zane. Franki’s current challenge, get the guys to understand and then pass their statistics course. As her sessions with the guys progress, they grow closer and closer, soon the guys are more interested in Franki than passing their course. As always, drama rises and the four deal with the crazy that comes with it.

What a steamy read, this must be one of my top three favorites in the Men at Work series. Franki is so funny, and I am all about the giggling in a book. You get friendship, you get drama, you get sass. Mika always has a way with her steamy short novels that I will always find my way back to.

Her Dirty Rockers
Men at Work #1
Release Date July 14, 2020

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk / Amazon.au /

I LOVE when authors share their wonderfulness on Kindle Unlimited! Her Dirty Rockers kicks off the Men at Work series, a reverse harem, enemies to romance.

In high school, all those years ago, Coral was still sporting her baby fat, and thus wasn’t what you would call a popular girl. Just like all those cheesy 90’s movies, there is always a popular group of guys that think it’s cool to bully, well these ones made poor Coral’s life a living hell. But like a phoenix rising from the ashes, years later, the baby fat has turned into killer curves and Coral is a beautiful baddie, with her dream job. That dream job that now has their biggest client ever.

Dirty Bandit, the current number one rock band. It’s members? None other than the three horsemen of her high school life.

Ennis, Stone and Hugh.

Dirty Bandit’s label has hired Coral’s firm to clean up the band’s image, and now Coral has to face the bitterness of her past with the three people she would rather run over with her car. But what happens when she must tour with the boys? Can she keep her sharp edges or will getting to know the guys turn her in their favor?

What a fun read! So sexy and sassy. I like that for a shorter read each character had a nice little backstory to lead with. Coral is a queen and I am living for it. I can’t wait to see what the next book holds.

Her Dirty Teachers
Men at Work #2
August 17, 2020

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk / Amazon.au /

I think my college education was lacking compared to Senna! Book two in the Men at Work series; Her Dirty Teachers is a triple threat taboo, a reverse harem, age gap, student teacher relationship. How exciting!

While this was a quicker read than I would have preferred, it was still filled with hot sexy fun and giggle moments. Senna is a university student, who like many know how expensive it can be to get a higher education. So, she does what makes the money; dancing. The exotic kind.
Enter in one of the hottest men Senna has ever seen, she gives him a dance, only to come and find out that he is none other than one of her Professors at school. Shocked, and more scared than she cares to admit, Senna waits to see if Benno will turn her in.

Does he?

Not in the way he should. Soon not only can Benno not keep his distance from Senna, but neither can his friends and fellow Professors, Jamie and Chase. All in all, the plot is O.K, some drama occurs, and the guys defend Senna and help her continue with school. It was a worthwhile read and I recommend it to those who like the genre. I am curious what comes next.

FRANCES (FRANKI) CRAWFORD“That’s not going to work for me.”
The head of the campus tutoring center gave me a look that said, in no uncertain terms, that he couldn’t give a shit about what did or did not work for me.
And that’s when I knew I had a problem.
I looked at the slip of paper he’d given me, my first assignment as a tutor, and found the guy I’d be helping drag his ass through statistics class was none other than State football star Garrett Stevens, someone I’d not known until last week.
If you wanted to be technical, I still didn’t really know him.
Although I’d slept with him.
Yup, after having a rough couple days that included premenstrual horniness, needing rebound sex to forget the douchebag I’d dated over the summer, and feeling generally pissed off at the world, I indulged in one of those sleazy rite of passage one-night stands that college is famous for.
That’s all it was. Seriously.
“Um, Max if you could match me up with another student, I’d really appreciate it,” I said, doing my best to sound breezy and casual while boob sweat collected in my bra.
He studied me, trying to read between the lines. Finally, he sighed. “Franki, you signed up to work here two weeks into the semester. That’s about three weeks later than everybody else. You don’t get your pick of students to work with. Sorry.”
He clicked his computer keyboard one more time and looked at me with a forced smile that indicated it was time for me to get the hell out of his office.
I was getting desperate, and because of that, wasn’t above begging. Or flattering.
“I know you’re super busy, Max, and I hate to keep you from your work, especially at the beginning of a semester. But this is kind of important.”
That should drag some empathy out of his tired, overworked ass.
Who knew a campus tutoring center would be such a hubbub of activity? I supposed if you used tutoring services, you’d know that well. But since I was a pretty good student who managed to muddle my way through even the worst of the classes that made up my freshman year, and who’d never needed a tutor, it was all new to me.
Also new to me this year was taking on a job to pay for school. Mom and Dad were flat out of money, leaving me to scramble for student loans and part-time work. Tutoring was one of the best-paying jobs on campus, and the director let me know that by working with student athletes, I’d actually get paid a little extra.
I couldn’t say no to that. Next semester’s tuition bill was coming like a freight train, and the financial assistance my parents had offered my older brother and sister for their schooling, dried up just in time for me to hit my freshman year. Now that I’d entered my sophomore year, their situation wasn’t getting any better. I was pretty much on my own.
Lucky me.
Yeah, my fortunate siblings had gotten fully-paid rides to private universities. Me, not so much. By the time my turn came, Dad was ready to retire. My parents had spent almost their last cent on my brother and sister, so it was decided I would attend State, which was loads cheaper.
I wasn’t bitter. Really.
Even when faced with having to tutor a burly football player who I just happened to have gotten down and dirty with not one week earlier.
I’d thought I was so smart. Figured I’d never see him again. After all, State was one of those universities bigger than some towns. You could get lost, stay anonymous, keep your head down, and hardly ever see the same person twice.
How was it then that I was now faced with having to tutor the one guy on campus I’d fucked in a moment of sexy weakness?
Thinking I was clever, I’d left my panties behind, hanging on his bedroom doorknob. Show him how the cool girls do it. Give him something to think about because he was never going to see my ass again. I lied about my major, which dorm I lived in, where I came from, you name it. I hadn’t even given him my real name, instead pretending to be a Susan. Seemed sufficiently bland enough to be forgettable.
I hadn’t lied about the orgasms, though. They were quite something. And god knew I needed them.
Not that he asked for it, but I wouldn’t have given him my contact info, anyway. Like he would have ever called me. Guys like him were famous for ghosting. So I beat him to the punch. Used him before he could use me, and all that.
And at the time, I’d felt pretty good about it.
Now, not so much.
Max sighed when he looked up from his computer monitor to see I was still sitting there. “Franki, you are right. I am busy,” he said impatiently.
“Max, I… I don’t think I can work with Garrett Stevens.”
He frowned. “Why? Is he an ex or something?”
Should I tell Max I’d fucked the guy and really didn’t want to have to make nice with him and that, oh by the way, I couldn’t stand jocks, anyway? That they were creeps with little or no interest in academics, who also had jumped my brother in high school and pummeled the shit out of him?
I could hold a grudge. I wasn’t proud of it.
“No. He’s not an ex,” I said, keeping my drama to myself.
Satisfaction settled on his face. “Great. Then you will be tutoring three students on the subject of statistics.” He wrinkled his nose. “God, I always hated stats. Too bad I didn’t have someone like you to help me out back in the day. I’m sure I would have been motivated to study my ass off.”
Looking me up and down, he gave me a giant, smarmy grin and waited for me to thank him for his cheesy compliment.
I stood to leave, holding my backpack in front of me to limit his hungry gaze. “I guess some people just aren’t smart enough for stats.”
Ooh. Did I really just say that?
His smile faded. “Well, it’s not that—”
But I didn’t hear the rest of what he had to say.
I’d gotten the work I needed to make it through the semester and pay for at least part of the next. I was out of there.
I’d tutor Garrett Stevens, even if all I could think about the whole time was how talented his tongue was…
“Whattup, Frank?” my BFF Daniel said, answering my call before the first ring had even finished.
I took a seat on the front steps of the student union, Daniel’s voice nearly drowned out by the buzz of giggly undergrads, beleaguered professors, creaky university shuttle buses, and rumbling food trucks.
“Hey. I got a job tutoring stats,” I told him.
“Wow, look at the big brain on my girl,” he screeched.
God, I missed him. We’d had a fun summer, and I’d almost cried when I left for school and he stayed behind.
Said college just wasn’t his thing. Driving for Uber was about as far as his ambition went.
“Big brain, you’re so funny. But get this. My first student is that guy I had the one-nighter with last week. Doesn’t it just figure?”
A couple heads snapped in my direction at the mention of ‘one-nighter.’
“That’s what happens when you’re a ho,” Daniel said gleefully. “I hope he at least had a good-sized dick, honey.”
In the background, I heard a turn signal click-click-click and realized he was driving.
“Dan, you don’t have anyone in the car with you, do you? You know, a passenger who might be listening to you talking about big dicks.”
Discretion was not one of his strengths.
He cackled. “I most certainly do, Frances Mary Crawford. Just so happens I have a couple ladies I’m taking to their card game at the senior center. Everything good back there, girls?” he called.
I didn’t hear them respond.
“Okay, Dan, I’m gonna run. But you might try to keep your conversations rated G, at least when you have passengers.”
“Oh, honey, everyone likes the booty. Don’t be ashamed. You did nothing wrong.”
Easy for him to say. He was a walking one-night stand.
Besides, if I had nothing to be embarrassed about, why was I dreading facing Garrett Stevens?

Writing has been a passion of mine since, well, forever (my first book was “The Day I Ate the Milkyway,” a true fourth-grade masterpiece). These days, steamy romance, both dark and funny, gives purpose to my days and nights as I create worlds and characters who defy the imagination. I live in magical Northern California with my own handsome alpha dude, sometimes known as Mr. Mika Lane, and an evil cat named Bill. These two males also defy my imagination from time to time.

A lover of shiny things, I’ve been known to try to new recipes on unsuspecting friends, find hiding places so I can read undisturbed, and spend my last dollar on a plane ticket somewhere.

I have several titles for you to choose from including perennially favorite Billionaire and Reverse Harem stories. And have you see my Player Series about male escorts who make the ladies of Hollywood curl their toes and forget their names? Hottttt…. ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 11, 2021

The three sons of a notorious mercenary should never have met…but now that they are sworn allies, the Scottish Borders will never be the same…

Denied his rightful legacy, Maximilian de Vries devised a plan to avenge himself upon his father and see his own future secured. Allied with his two forgotten half-brothers, he descends upon ancient and mysterious Kilderrick, determined to claim it at any price. A woman rumored to be a witch is the sole one bold enough to defy him but Maximilian has a solution—he will take her to wife, whether she be willing or nay, and seal his claim.

But this powerful warrior has yet to match wits with Alys Armstrong, a maiden with a thirst for vengeance and a fury that might exceed his own. Alys has no intention of capitulating to the proud and illegitimate son of the rogue who stole everything from her, and she does not share his avowed compulsion to fight fair.

Bitter enemies from the outset, Maximilian and Alys’ match is a battle of wills. When anger turns to passion, will either of them be able to resist temptation? And when Kilderrick itself is in peril, will they be able to join forces to save the unexpected love they have come to value above all else?

REVIEW: THE WOLF AND THE WITCH is the first instalment in Claire Delacroix’s adult, historical, BLOOD BROTHERS medieval romance series. This is mercenary Maximilian de Vries aka the Silver Wolf, and Alys Armstrong’s story line.

Told from several third person perspectives including Maximilian and Alys, THE WOLF AND THE WITCH follows in the aftermath of the demise of Jean le Beau, Maximilian De Vries’ father, a wicked man whose death was grieved by no one including his long-suffering wife and numerous illegitimate children. Denied his rightful claim to the family estate and titles, Maximilian, along with his two half-brothers Rafael and Amaury, and a large contingent of former employees and friends, head out to rebuild the ruins of Scotland’s Kilderrick castle, and in doing so, Maximilian discovers the rightful heir to Kilderrick is alive and claiming to be a witch. Enter Alys Armstrong, and the woman with whom Maximilian will fall in love. What ensues is the acrimonious and embattled relationship between Maximilian and Alys, and the potential fall out as the past returns seeking revenge against our story line couple.

There is a large ensemble case of secondary and supporting characters many of whom find safety and solace with Maximilian’s band of travelling forgotten. We are introduced to Maximilian’s estranged half brothers Rafael and Amaury, as well as Alys’ fellow ‘witches’ Elizabeth, Ceara and Nyssa, three woman seeking refuge from painful pasts and forced servitude. The requisite evil has many faces.

THE WOLF AND THE WITCH is a story of family, betrayal, vengeance and loss. A tale of hope and forgiveness, secrets and lies, love and a happily ever after. The premise is intriguing and edgy; the romance is intimate and passionate; the characters are spirited, strong and inspiring.

But I married the devil himself, and when I vowed to obey, I lied.

Book two of three in the The Dilustro Arrangement.

REVIEW:Never has there been a Mafia romance quite like this one. CD has a way of displaying her character so open, that you can’t help to see what makes them tick. Mafia King is a heart-pounding, violent romance that will leave your hands shaking and your mind reeling. In one word, suspenseful.

Book one is recommended as a first read, Mafia Bride is the beginning of it all, and this story branches off from that. Violetta is stuck between a rock and a hard place by her own making, her hate for him starts to become love and the life she wants them to lead together slowly becomes something she yearns for. However, nothing is ever simple with a DiLustro.

Mafia King is much more fast paced than the previous book was, there is so much happening at all times. Secrets and lies, vows and loyalty are tested and the cliffhanger! OMG! The cliffhanger! That was cruel and unusual punishment to make us wait until the next book!!! I can’t wait to see what CD has in store for Violetta and Santino.

CD Reiss is a New York Times bestselling author. She still has to chop wood and carry water, which was buried in the fine print. Her lawyer is working it out with God but in the meantime, if you call and she doesn’t pick up she’s at the well hauling buckets.

Born in New York City, she moved to Hollywood, California to get her master’s degree in screenwriting from USC. In case you want to know, that went nowhere but it did give her a big enough ego to write novels.

She’s frequently referred to as the Shakespeare of Smut which is flattering but hasn’t ever gotten her out of chopping a single cord of wood.

If you meet her in person, you should call her Christine.

REVIEW: ORBITING MARS is the twelfth instalment in KL Savage’s contemporary, adult RUTHLESS KINGS MC: LAS VEGAS erotic, MC, romance series focusing on the members of the Ruthless Kings MC, Las Vegas chapter. This is the continuing story of Sunnie and Patrick Neil aka Pirate. ORBITING MARS can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading PIRATE for some back story of our leading couple.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sunnie and Patrick) ORBITING MARS continues to focus on the building relationship between Patrick ‘Pirate’ Neil, and his old lady Sunnie but Patrick begins to spiral out of control, and the results are going to force Sunnie to reconsider her future with the man that she loves. Patrick is unable to let go of the past, and Sunnie is about to make a life changing announcement that sends Patrick over the edge, an edge that neither may never come back.

ORBITING MARS also focuses on the next generation of Ruthless Kings MC as the pregnant old ladies including Reaper and Sarah, Doc and Joanna welcome their new arrivals but, once again, not everything goes according to plan including a heart breaking loss for someone close.

KL Savage pulls the reader into an emotional, thought provoking, raw and gritty look at addiction and recovery, hope and loss, love and acceptance. The premise is edgy and dramatic; the characters are broken and struggling; the romance is raw and needy.

No one knows where I am. I have my phone off. I didn’t tell anyone where I was going, and I didn’t speak a word to Sunnie about it. I’m too afraid to. After all the progress I’ve made and all the steps I’ve taken, I’m starting to relapse.
I want rum.
I want it so fucking desperately it keeps me up at night. I dream about it. When I drink coffee, I find myself wishing rum were in the cup instead. I’ll settle for anything at this point. Vodka. Whiskey. Gin. I don’t care. My mouth is watering for it.
My body aches for it. My muscles hurt and spasm, and there is this constant throb in the base of my skull.
Slamming.
Pounding.
Screaming at me to give in.
I rub my temples and exhale a shaky breath. My fingers tremble around my sobriety chip as I fumble with it, twisting and flipping it in my palm.
The room fills with people, and the cheap metal chairs scrape against the floor, echoing in the wide-open space. To the left is a table topped with coffee, tea, water, and soda. To the left of the coffee maker are packets of sugar in a container and a bottle of coffee creamer.
Maybe I just need to drink something, and the craving will stop. I stand, rubbing my sweaty palms against my jeans. There are a few new faces here tonight, and they’re hovering around the beverage table, away from the regulars. Ah, I remember standing in the back, hoping to not be seen. It’ll get easier. It helps being surrounded by people with the same struggle.
I grab a Styrofoam cup and fill it halfway, adding a dash of creamer. I don’t bother stirring in it. It isn’t to wake up. It’s just to do something other than think about alcohol. I take a sip and let the hot java sear my throat, hoping like hell it burns the addiction right out of me.
A younger woman, possibly no more than eighteen, is stirring her tea next to the table. She looks like she’s seen better days. She has bright blue hair, which I think is so cool. I’ve never seen anyone pull off a color like that. She seems sad and is a bit too thin. By the track marks on her arms, I’ll say that has something to do with it.
Maybe I can introduce her to Sunnie.
“Hi, I’m Patrick.” I introduce myself to try and break the ice, showing her that we aren’t a scary bunch.
“Poppy.” Her hand meets mine in a firm shake.
I thought it would be limper, considering how she looks.
“So, what’s your vice, Poppy?” I lean against the pillar and sip the bitter coffee.
It sure the fuck doesn’t go down as smooth as rum.
“Heroin and Vodka. You?” She lifts her eyes to mine, and the dark circles take me back to the early days of recovery.
“Rum, but I drank just about anything.”
She nods as if she understands. Her eyes dart around the room. I can tell she’s feeling overwhelmed. “I don’t know if I can do this,” she admits.
“I get it, but don’t put so much pressure on yourself. You don’t have to speak, but it helps.”
“Is this your first meeting?” she stares at me, hopeful.
I snort, bringing the cup to my lips. “Try my thousandth, maybe? I don’t know. It’s up there. I don’t come much anymore because I’ve been doing better.”
She cocks her head and analyzes me. “Why are you here today?”
“Because right now, I wish this coffee was rum, and I’m this close,” I hold my finger and thumb barely apart, “this fucking close, to saying fuck everything just to get a drink.”

K.L. Savage decided they were tired of looking for the kind of books they wanted to read. They had an itch that needed to be scratched, and as every girl knows, nothing scratches better than an alpha.

They write about gritty, alpha males, sometimes their dark sides, and the women they love.
If you have the same itch, their alpha males should fix that.

She is his enemy. He is her nightmare.

Three football stars who have it all: looks, money, talent and the world at their feet. No one messes with the Devils. You’re either with them or against them…and you’d have to be stupid to be against them.

Ava isn’t stupid, but one night of being in the wrong place at the right time is coming back to haunt her. One of the Santo boys—Jett—is out for blood. Specifically, her blood. Thankfully, he doesn’t know who she is, and Ava plans to keep it that way.

Sophomore year threatens to stop Jett’s progression to the championships and, more importantly, his plan to play in the NFL. All because of some mystery blonde. But he has a plan: find the threat and eliminate the threat. Jett is ruthless in his pursuit to find the girl who threatens his career.

They say there’s a thin line between love and hate, and neither is prepared for the consequences when they cross that line.

REVIEW: RUTHLESS HEART is the first instalment in Eve L Mitchell’s contemporary, new adult RUTHLESS DEVILS college, romance series focusing on brothers Jett and Gray Santos, and their cousin Ash. This is college sophomores, nineteen year old Ava Bryant, and football star Jett Santos’ story line.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jett and Ava) RUTHLESS HEART follows the enemies to lovers relationship between college sophomores, nineteen year old Ava Bryant, and football player Jett Santos. A random drug test came back positive, and star college football player Jett Stantos was suspended for two weeks, putting his future professional career at risk. Struggling to understand what happened or why, Jett goes in search of the blonde girl he found passed out in his bed earlier that week. Jett doesn’t do drugs, and in this, our hero, along with his brother Gray, and their cousin Ash, go in search of a stranger he’s about to destroy. Enter college sophomore Ava Bryant. What ensues is the acrimonious and tempestuous relationship between Ava and Jett, and the fall-out as our heroine becomes the target of harassment, bullying, and threats in the face of Jett’s need to destroy her life.

Ava Bryant had no idea what happened the night of the party but waking up in Jett Santo’s bed felt all sorts of wrong especially when she had no memory of what happened the night before. Days would pass where rumors unfolded about Jett’s desperate search for the woman whose life he was about to destroy, and with it, Ava began to question what happened and why.

The relationship between Ava and Jett is caustic and bitter but initially Jett has no idea who was the woman he awoke to in bed. From the outset, Ava and Jett’s introduction is acerbic and bitter, yet Jett has no idea that Ava is the woman whose life he is about to make a living h*ll. From harassment to bullying, physical and emotional abuse, Jett among others, begin to tear down our heroine, in the hopes of destroying and damaging her life. The $ex scenes are dramatic and intense. I want to add, although the author claims there is no non-con (non-consensual ) sex, in my opinion, someone who is drunk and drugged, is unable to give true consent, so there is a grey line as it pertains to the non-consensual element.

In addition, the college teachers and professors begin a campaign against our story line heroine. Ava is presumed guilty because the Santos school legacy takes president over our heroine’s innocence or guilt.

We are introduced to Jett’s brother Gray, and their cousin Ash-all Cardinal Saints College football stars, as well as Jett’s parents; Quinn, close family friend who ensures Ava’s life continues to spiral out of control; Dante Spence, quarterback for the opposing team; and several members of the Cardinal Saints Football team including Derrick, Jamie and Coach Bowers, as well as Ava’s friend Mia, and Wade. Quinn’s story line is next.

RUTHLESS HEARTS is an emotional and melodramatic story of betrayal and revenge, power and control, family and acceptance. The premise is thought-provoking, raw and haunting; the characters are feisty and stubborn; the romance is unconventional and twisted, tragic and raw.

Again, a warning about potential triggers, as the heroine’s treatment is abusive from everyone concerned.

Just a note, because the author is from Scotland, there are few terms that may not be familiar to North American readers.
