Release Date: December 15, 2012
One of the fiercest soldiers the Phrixians have ever produced, Maris Sulle has been an outsider the whole of his life. He grew up with a secret that cost him everything- His birthright, his family and his military career. In all his life, he’s only had one love and he has sacrificed his own happiness to see his best friend reunited with the woman he loves. But now that his good deed is done, he feels lost and adrift. Even though they do their best to include him in their new family, he’s once again on the outside looking in.
Ture has spent his life hiding from everyone around him while trying desperately to fit in. His family, the world, you name it. Badly hurt by everyone he’s ever known, he trusts no one except his own best friend. And honestly, he can’t understand why he trusts her. Nor can he believe her when she describes a loyalty between friends the likes of which he’s never seen.
But when he is in his darkest hour, he’s saved by a hero he thought only existed in novels. A man who is every bit as scarred and mistrusting as he is. One who has no interest in being dragged into another relationship with anyone.
Having spent his life as a living study of doomed relationships, Maris is well aware of the courtship and fiasco that invariably follows. Still, there is something about Ture he can’t resist. Something that won’t let him walk away when he knows he should.
But when old enemies return to threaten them both, they either have to stand together or die alone.
Good catch Sandy. I saw this late last night on twitter and was going to forward it to Barb this morning. Thanks for posting it, I’m reading Born of Silence right now and let me tell you, it’s killing me. What has been done to Darling, oy vey, and I thought Kenyon couldn’t surprise me anymore after Ash’s book. I fear for my sanity as the book goes on. I’m glad to see she’s writing a story for Maris, I’m loving his character right now in Born of Silence, actually have liked his character since I met him a few books ago.
I’ve been waiting on this one for a long time Marcie!!!! I’m finishing up Black Dawn (Morganville Vampire) and will read this one next!!!!!!!!!! I have loved Darling from his first appearance. You just knew downt to your toes that there was so much more to him!!
there is a lot more to Darling then you know Vickie. Wait till you read what kind of life he lead and what was done to him at the hands of his uncle and mother. Honestly my heart is breaking for him. I have taken to keeping my kleenex close by for his book now.
I agree Darling’s book is like the Ash of The League series…it was so riveting and just appalling I knew things had to turn out okay but I tell you want I wanted blood as much as Zarya did for the hurt Darling went through. I didn’t think I could feel for anyone more than Ash but Darling is right up there. When I met Maris in Born of Shadows I thought he was just such a doll and I didn’t realize how much I’d fall for his sweet character too – then in Born of Silence you get to know so much about him and how he fits into Darling’s life which was SO neat! I think everyone needs a Maris for a friend 😀 I am seriously chomping at the bit to read this book…while I’ve long been a DH & CON fan I took a chance with The League (not a huge fan of sci-fi) but Nykyrian stole my heart from the beginning and each hero since has piqued my love for the series 😀
I haven’t read Born of Silence..and hopefully it is NOT as bad as Acheron…my heart and mind could not stand another round of sobbing
Well Sandy lets just say it’s not a pretty life Darling has lead and it hasn’t been all rainbows and butterflies for him. My hear is breaking for him over the injustices that were done to him at the hands of his uncle and his mother, then by ppl he thought were friends. I say keep some kleenex handy.
My first thought when I saw this was how did I miss knowing about an SK upcoming book… I am usually on top of these things… I also noticed that it isn’t even available yet for pre-order, maybe that is where I missed it. I have the whole series in my TBR pile… I know, but I fully plan on reading it soon. This summer, the TBR pile is getting smaller. Looking forward to the time spent with my nose in these books, everyone tells me they are great.
Me who doesn’t like the sci-fi genre or anything futuristic and our there Mary Ann loves this series. I picked up the first book Born of Night on a whim and couldn’t put the book down. It’s a great series, you’ll really enjoy it, especially if you love her Dark Hunters and Chronicles of Nick Series
