REVIEW:  COLD TRUTH is the sixth instalment in Toni Anderson’s contemporary, adult COLD JUSTICE: MOST WANTED erotic, romantic suspense series set in the author’s COLD JUSTICE series. This is forty-five year old, FBI supervisory agent/ head of the Hostage Rescue Team (HRT) Kurt Montana, and twenty-seven year old, British librarian Rowena Smith’s story line. COLD TRUTH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several omniscient third person perspectives including Kurt and Rowena COLD TRUTH follows British librarian Rowena Smith as she goes in search of the father she never knew. Rowena Smith knew very little about her mother, and nothing about her father but some letters found with her late mother’s possession has Rowena venturing to Zimbabwe in search of the truth but what she finds is a dead body, and the business card of a US FBI Agent. Kurt Montana was due to return home but a call from our heroine changes Kurt’s schedule of plans, a change that would ultimately save his life. On the run, our couple find themselves targeted by some powerful people but the reality hits much closer to home.

The world building follows Kurt and Rowena on the run as they venture through jungles, and remote villages, eventually finding themselves in Mozambique; captive on a tanker and isolated islands; and struggling to trust everyone they meet. The HRT team back at Quantico believe their team leader is dead but little did they know that Kurt Montana was desperate to make his way back home.

The relationship between Rowena and Kurt begins accidentally but quickly turns into a cross country venture, as our couple try to stay one step ahead of powerful businessmen, dirty law enforcement, and questionable political powers. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of energetic, powerful and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Jordan Krychek, and several members of Kurt’s Hostage Rescue Team and FBI Special Agents. We are introduced to Kurt’s daughter Daisy. Not everyone can be trusted as Kurt and Rowena struggle to survive.

COLD TRUTH is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance; obsession and madness, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love .The action packed premise is detailed, intriguing, dramatic and twisted; the age-gap romance is fated and flirty; the characters are determined, desperate and spirited.

Toni Anderson is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author, RITA® finalist, science nerd, professional tourist, dog lover, gardener, mom.
