COLE’S REDEMPTION (Alpha Pack #5) by JD Tyler
ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 4, 2014
Once, they were Navy SEALS. Now they are the Alpha Pack: a top secret team of wolf shifters with Psy powers who take on the darkest dangers on Earth. But sometimes the greatest danger lies within their own hearts….
Healer and black wolf shifter Zander Cole has survived horrors that would have broken a weaker man. But when a battle leaves him deaf and his powers dimmed, Zan is devastated. Believing himself to be a burden to his team, he sees only one option: leave the Pack forever.
White wolf shifter Selene Westfall knows pain—she is certain her father was responsible for her mother’s death. And she lives to exact revenge. So when she is challenged by a savage black wolf, she puts up a vicious fight—only to become the black wolf’s Bondmate as a result of his bite.
Two damaged souls—one filled with hatred and one who’s lost his reason for living—are forced together as they come to terms with their unlikely, turbulent bond. A love neither expected may be all that stands between them and a killer trying desperately to keep the past dead and buried…

REVIEW: COLE’S REDEMPTION is the fifth full length storyline in JD Tyler’s contemporary, adult, paranormal shifter series-Alpha Pack-focusing on a top secret team of shifters and other supernatural beings with Psy powers and special abilities. This is wolf shifter and psychic healer Zander Cole and, white wolf Selene Westfall’s storyline. If you are a follower of the series, you will recognize Selene’s last name as her father-Nick Westfall- is commander of the Alpha Pack. Although this is the fifth storyline in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without too much difficulty. Most of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles in Cole’s Redemption and their history is revealed when it is necessary to the current premise.
The premise follows Selene as she is determined to destroy her father and move on with her life. Selene has been led to believe that her father killed her mother and walked away leaving a young Selene to deal with the fall out of her mother’s death and father’s presumed abandonment. Fast forward several years, and Selene has the opportunity to take down the man she blames for the horrors in her life. But attacking the Alpha pack leader is no easy feat when there is always someone guarding his back. Enter Zander Cole-the man who goes for the kill only to discover the small white wolf under his jaws is his bondmate and the woman he will die to protect.
The current focus of the Alpha Pack is to uncover the whereabouts of a rogue band of vampires that has launched a series of attacks against the human population. Every opportunity pulls the Alpha Pack into dangerous territory until a final confrontation leaves a dying Zander and the Alpha Pack leader considering his future and the rest of his life.
The reader is pulled into a storyline of misunderstandings when a young woman has been led to believe that her father is not the man she had adored as a child. Threats, lies and betrayal had forced Nick Westfall to walk away all in order to protect the only person left in his life and his heart. But the people closest to Selene are the very people who continued to perpetuate a lie that hardened her heart against a man who never stopped loving his little girl.
The relationship between Zander and Selene is sensual and sexy. There is no angst about the bonding: Zander and Selene are well aware that many shifters never find the ‘one’ and they move into a sexual relationship and become a mate-bonded pair fairly easy. The writing is simple; there is no complicated scenario and the reader doesn’t need a thesaurus to understand what is happening and why.
JD Tyler writes an engaging and interesting series about a group of former Navy SEALs who got caught in the crossfire of a Middle East war. We learn what happened to the SEALs six years earlier; the men they lost, how they came to be and the people behind the attack. And the attacks come full circle when the Pack uncover the truth about the vampire rogues and their connection to their past.
