4 out of 5 for this reader folks!

ONE HOT READ! LOL

Okay so I am going to begin this review by discussing the authors notes first. Eden Davis captivated me right from the get go as she addresses the topic that is taboo to many now a days … STEAMY KINKY SEX! She expresses her reasons for writing this book and to develop a platform for couples (or friends) to discuss openly how to add some VA VA VOOM to the bedroom .. or office … or kitchen … or car … well you get the idea! LOL I absolutely love that she does that. I was travelling in a car with my hubby while reading this book and we had the most awesome chat .. so there you go EDEN DAVIS, one reader for sure got your message! 😉

We meet our leading lady Lena Paskin immediately. She is in a bar enjoying the Super Bowl game when she meets Jason Armstrong (our leading man) and they end up flirting and carrying on until the inevitable one night stand happens. Both are playing a game with each other allowing their naughty personalities a chance to come out to play without the responsibilities of a relationship. In fact, this is what is so darn enticing.

Lena, is a serious professional woman, early 40’s, competing for a top CEO position at a TV network, normally straight lace and organized (man she knows her business). She opts to jump into a fantasy role of “Pocahontas” with Jason by playing the vixen who flies by the seat of her pants in the bedroom and is game to pretty much anything. Jason, is a serious sports agent, cool as a cucumber, gorgeous and well dressed, organized and knows what it takes to succeed. He also jumps into the fantasy with Lena by playing “Big Johnson”, the man who demands, give, takes what he wants and makes no apology for it.

When these two cross lines professionally, they realize they have the makings of a great long distance, “booty call” kind of relationship that is built on bets, winner takes all. However, they really start to get to know each other and they realize they just fit so well together. They both seem to bring out the best in the other, and push each others limits when it comes to their sex life.

Through the building of this relationship, they deal with the trial and tribulations of Lena’s competition (asshat who is also competing for the CEO position, T.J.), her busy body needs her rear end kicked secretary, family members and well meaning friends. Business agreements are tampered with, manipulation and secrets are used to destroy reputations, and one sex tape that can blow up all they have built personally and professionally makes an appearance.

PAGE TURNING! 😉

So why not a 5 out of 5?? EASY! There are certain words that I like to hear when enjoying an erotic story and certain words that just make me cringe. Some of the terminology and descriptions in this book just had an adverse effect on me. This is a personal preference and by no means takes away from the story and the chemistry these two have.

If you like SPORTS and SEX mixed together in a book .. well have a look at this one! You will be indulged in both!

HAPPY READING!

  1. Wonderful review Rachel.

As you know I am not a fan of certain words in my erotic, romance, storylines. When we ‘talked’ yesterday about another book, it was rife with a certain words that were strictly for shock value…not only did they NOT shock me , the words turned me off and forced me to write a negative review based on the storyline presentation. Erotic novels are meant to be sensual, seductive and arousing…..but sometimes certain words can turn a nice story into written porn…..although written porn usually has NO plot or premise…

    • Exactly! This did have a sensual feel to it, and the story was incredible! The terms used were terms that i do not use or exist among my personal lifestyle .. so it took a bit away from me! Perhaps if i was exposed to those words in my day to day life, this wouldn’t be an issue! Does that make sense!? LOL

      • I don’t even think that constantly exposing one’s self to certain words it makes it any less easier. There is ONE word in particular that I can’t say and have a difficult time reading. And almost ALL erotica books use this word. I know, I know it is only a word but it is the implications and connotations of said word that give me the creeps.

      • Hi Rachel,

Eden Davis here. First, thank you for your lovely review. I’m so glad that you and others are enjoying Dare to be Seduced. I am reading with fascination the comments about language. It’s so funny because in my real life, I don’t really use these words either (w/ the exception of f*ck…it’s such a great says-it-all-in-all -situations kind of word 😉 As a writer of erotica, I do also try to stick those words in the character’s mouths that would use them, and use them sparingly in the mouths of those who do not. I also find that it’s hard to find words to describe certain body parts and actions over and over without sounding contrived or ridiculous. But I intentionally use naughty words during sex reasons because as a sensuality coach (under my real name), one of the top requests from women is wanting to learn to talk dirty to their spouses. And because I am a big believer in erotica being an important part of a grown and sexy woman’s self-help bookshelf, characters with potty mouths can help.

Anywho, those are my reasons. I hope you’ll pick up the first book Dare to be Tempted, which is about a married couple, and Dare to be Wild, which features a breast cancer survivor taking advantage of her new ‘sexual’ lease on life. Thanks again for the review!
        Eden

  2. Great review Rachel. Love the sound of this storyline especially the idea of a 40year old woman as the object of sex, love, romance and erotica. Too many authors focus on the 20 something. Although I love and adore the new adult genre, it is nice to see a change .

And I agree with Sandy, and Alexiis, and therefore obviously you 😉 that there are certain words-one in particular-that never evoke a feeling of sensuality or pleasure in any novel-ever!

  3. Bitchin review Rachel . I am looking forward to checking this read out . And I to do not like a Certain word in my books it has never and will never be a turn on for me and like Sandy it would totally ruin the book for me . And I also like that the Women was 40 , I have to say it’s nice to read that the person is older or a little heavier but I guess that is my fantasy .

  4. Very nice review. I have read a few of these types recently, and agree that it’s being a bit overdone. I also do not like some words, but you have my curiosity, so I may just take a peek.

  5. I am all about my erotica naughty and sexy! I love to seduced and put in the mood by simple words! Seriously though .. some of these words used were deflating .. she did however give me some yummy words too!

I love that her heroines are middle aged woman who are coming out of their shells and indulging the inner sex kitten. The novel if anything stresses that great sex, loving sex and kinky sex isn’t only for the young, but fro woman who statistically hit their sexual peeks at older ages. She has at the end of the book a bunch of questions that can inspire book club conversations .. I totally loved that, as it did get me chatting with the one person who takes care of my business!!! 😉

    Well done Eden Davis! 🙂

    • I agree..deflating is a good way to describe the use of certain words. There storyline goes along and then ..bam…stomach drops and you think..wow, why did they use that word.

And I too, love that the heroine is a 40 something woman. I look at so many of the male models today and even some of the models turned actor and they should realize that making derogatory comments about cougars and the like (or placing all women into the cougar category over the age of 30) is demeaning. and these woman are their biggest fans and promoters.

  6. Great review Rachel. I have always wondered why some authors feel the need to use certain words. It is kinda degrading and demeaning to women (especially). I am not about to expound on the rights and views of feminism but these are stories written by women ( in most cases) for women(in most cases ) and some of the terminology is used people to degrade women.
