REVIEW: DIAMOND KISS is the fourth and final instalment in Pepper Winters’ contemporary, adult THE JEWELRY BOX dark, erotic, series focusing on twenty-nine year old, Henri Mercer-Ward, and Ilyana Sharma. DIAMOND KISS should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book three SAPPHIRE SCARS. Henri Ward is the half-brother to Q Mercer (Monsters in the Dark).

SOME BACKGROUND: A desperate need to know about the family history, and acceptance by his brother Q, Henri Mercer-Ward is tasked with infiltrating a human trafficking ring known as The Jewelry Box but Henri must first seduce a potential jewel, a woman to be trained, to be broken, to be claimed as his own.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Henri and Ilyana) picks up immediately after the events of book three in which Henri must prove to Master Victor, the owner and proprietor of the Jewelry Box, that he is worthy of the title Master but Henri has fallen in love with the jewel he calls Ily, and it is his love for Ily that will prove the downfall of our story line hero, threatening his life, his sanity and his sense of self worth. As Henri fights for his life, the jewels will get help from an unlikely source.

The world building continues to focus on the sadistic, the madness, the unthinkable. The dark proclivities and deadly desires of madmen whose need to use and abuse goes beyond. The increasingly dark and brutal action are difficult to read, to comprehend and to acknowledge as anything but inhuman.

DIAMOND KISS is the final chapter in the author’s Jewelry Box series focusing on Q’s half-brother Henri, a man who had struggled with the who, what and why of his own existence. Once again, the premise is dark, dramatic barbarous and merciless; the characters are broken, destroyed, damaged yet desperate and determined.
