REVIEW: ENZO is the third instalment in Eva Winners’ contemporary, adult LEGACY OF HEATHENS dark, erotic, Mafia romance series, a spin off, set in the author’s interconnected Mafia worlds -Thorns of Omerta, Belles and Mobsters, Kingpins of the Syndicate. This is thirty-three year old,heir to the Omerta Criminal Empire Enzo Marchetti, and twenty-one year old, medical student Penelope DiMauro’s story line. ENZO can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment or interconnected series is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three first person perspectives (Enzo, Penelope,Luca) ENZO follows the arrange marriage and union between our story line couple. Before she was born, Penelope DiMauro was promised to the eldest son of the Omerta crime family, and the day would come when our heroine would have to face her future but Penelope is unaware of the man with whom she is about to marry, a man who has kept close tabs aka stalked our heroine from close up and afar. Secrets would be revealed, as Penelope and Enzo’s relationship slowly turned into something more but Penelope’s sister is fighting for her life, and Enzo is determined to fine help, even if it killed him in the process.

The world building follows several paths including a look at the past, a history of secrets that expose the reality of the Omerta Crime Family, and the early days of the current Marchetti empire. From mental illness to murder, betrayal and heart break, the family line struggles with too many skeletons in their closet, but skeletons that reveal a deadly past. As Penelope’s sister Amara struggles to survive, Enzo will uncover the dark and sordid betrayal, one that will place him in the direct line of fire.

The relationship between Penelope and Enzo begins acrimoniously. Penelope wants nothing to do with an arrange marriage or our story line hero but her defiance sets into motion the revelation of secrets that push our heroine to edge of her limits. Enzo finds himself falling for a woman that despises the ground upon which he walks but a woman who will quickly realize Enzo is willing to protect our heroine with his life. The $ex scenes are limited but erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and dynamic secondary and supporting characters including Penelope’s sister Amara, their parents Margaret and Luca Di Mauro( Belles and Mobsters: Luca ), and Enzo’s brother Amadeo, and their parents Isla and Enrico Marchetti (Thorns of Death).

ENZO is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal and vengeance,obsession and madness, family and relationships, forgiveness and acceptance. The character driven premise is dark,tragic and edgy; the romance is emotional and dramatic; the characters are desperate, determined and lively.
