REVIEW: EXPLOSIVE UNION is the seventh instalment in Brooke Summers’ contemporary, adult MADE dark, erotic, Mafia, romance series. This is twenty-four year old Jade Gallagher, and Rocco Gallo’s story line. EXPLOSIVE UNION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Jade and Rocco) EXPLOSIVE UNION follows the arranged marriage between twenty-four year old Jade Gallagher, the only daughter of the head of the Irish Clann, and Rocco Gallo, the heir to the Italian Mafia. Five years earlier Jade Gallagher took the blame for a murder she did not commit in order to protect someone she loved but five years of abuse and torture at the hands of the prison guards found Jade planning her retribution one repayment at a time. Upon her release Jade would discover the family had entered into a contract with the Italian Mafia, a contract that would see Jade marry their eldest son. Enter Rocco Gallo, and the man with whom Jade would fall in love. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Jade and Rocco, and the potential fall-out as Rocco struggles to accept his new bride’s independence and her need to seek revenge, without his help.

Jade Gallagher is determined to take down the people who tried to destroy her life but first our heroine is expected to get married. Marrying into the Italian mob would join two powerful underworld families, families that have more in common than she could have imagined. Rocco Gallo doesn’t want to get married but the Gallo family is bleeding money, and their power is being questioned by those involved. Merging with the Irish Clann makes for a dominant and authoritative powerhouse family, a family that will be threatened from outside and from within.

The relationship between Jade and Rocco is an arranged marriage meant to push the families to the top of the proverbial food chain. Neither Jade nor Rocco wants anything to do with an arranged marriage but both know that to keep peace within the criminal underworld, they must perform their duty for the sake of the family. Rocco believes as the husband he must protect and guard the woman he loves but Jade is an independent and powerful young woman who has suffered more than anyone could have imagined. The $ex scenes are passionate, erotic and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including parents, siblings, and over the top, headstrong and questionable grandmothers.

The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are charismatic, dynamic, head strong and broken.
