    • Having read so many books, to pick one favorite is impossible for me, as I had so many wonderful books on the top of the my list for 2014. Instead, I will post my 2014 thoughts.

Nalini Singh continues to be on the top of my list having had two sensational books this year. Shield of Winter (Psy/Changeling) & Archangel’s Shadows (Guild Hunter).

The Winter King by C.L. Wilson was a welcome return after being away for a couple of years.

Demon Storm by Dianna Love proved that The Belador series will continue to be great with Dianna assuming full control of writing this series.

Opposition by Jennifer L. Armentrout was a wonderful and befitting ending to her terrific Lux series.

Jeaniene Frost ended her Night Huntress series, which brought tears, as we will miss Cat & Bones.

Sarah Harian’s debut novel, The Wicked We Have Done was a fantastic start in her career.

Murder of the Crows by Anne Bishop continued the trend for fantastic stories in her fabulous The Others series.

I am still a fanatic fan of J. D. Robb’s In Death series.

I found a little time in the later part of 2014, and started a new series based on a recommendation by Sandy. I read G.A. Aiken’s Dragon Kin series and I loved it. Consider me now a major fan of Shelley Laurenston/G.A. Aiken.

There are so many more I could mention for a wonderful 2014. But then I would have to write a book. 🙂

  1. Best book this year: ABENGONI: FIRST CALLING by Charles Sanders (MV Media, Fayetteville, GA) ISBN# 978-0-9960167-2-8. Undeservedly obscure indy publisher presents a new fantasy by African-Canadian writer who founded the sub-genre of Sword and Soul Fantasy – stories wherein people of color predominate as characters and in cultural backdrops. The results are refreshingly different and exciting, esp., in this brand new book set in a magical invented universe African civilization whose religious leaders must confront crisis at home and from abroad. Creativity and compelling characters, vivid writing, and strong female protagonist make this one a must read!

I hope this will enter me in the Give Away. Thanks!

  2. Such a good question! I have been fortunate to read many good books this year. My immediate automatic response to this question was that my very favorite book of the year was also part of my very favorite series: Lauren Willig’s The Mark of the Midnight Manzanilla. It is book 11 of the Pink Carnation series. The final book is coming out later this year. This last one had me both laughing out loud with sheer delight and tearing up at touching moments. I loved the characters.

I lack the ability to adequately convey this series. It is about Napoleonic spies, but that sounds so dull. These books are witty and fun. I found this series a few years ago when the cover of The Mischief of the Mistletoe caught my eye in a bookstore. A blurb on the title said something about Jane Austen for the modern girl and I grabbed it. If anyone like audio books, these are excellent. If you enjoy the story of The Scarlet Pimpernel, you may like these books. They are a wonderful combination of historical fiction, romance, mystery, and fiction or chic lit.

  3. It’s so hard to pick just one! so I’ll post my five favorites! I loved Cinderella Screwed Me Over by Cindi Madsen, The Winter King by C L. Wilson, The World of Fae series by Terry Spear, The Gods’ Trilogy by Debra Holland and Love Potions by Michelle Pillow!

  4. I would have to say The Faces of Evil series by Debra Webb was my favorite series this year. Depraved, the last book, was fricking AMAZING!
Thanks so very much for this giveaway. Hope you all have a GREAT New Year.

  5. I discovered and devoured so many wonderful “new to me” series in 2014–especially since getting my Kindle Paperwhite in October. Among my favorites, The Cardwell Ranch series by B.J. Daniels, The Hope series by Jaci Burton, The Annihilate Me series by Christina Ross, and the one I’m now obsessively reading #11 of, The Hell Yeah! series by Sable Hunter. Sleep is highly overrated, so count me in on the giveaway!

Liked on Facebook and Goodreads as Donna Bayar Repsher, gemgal14@gmail.com

  6. My favorite book of 2014 was Lovely Trigger (bk #3 Tristan & Danika series) by R.K. Lilley. It was a beautiful and perfect end to their heartbreaking story. I also loved the Here & Now series by Lexi Ryan, and all books by Jill Shalvis and Kristen Ashley! =D
    I am a fan of your page Sandy including #’s 3-6 🙂
Hope you have a very Happy New Year!

  7. I had a wonderful reading year so I think it might be easier to select a couple of series.

The first is Lost in Oblivion by Taryn Elliott & Cari Quinn. If you haven’t checked it out I encourage you to do so. The authors share the writing duties by each handling their specific characters. I am blown away by the stories.

Maggie Shayne’s Brown and de Luca series was my big surprise this year. What I thought was going to be an interesting story turned out to be something extraordinary. It starts as a mystery with paranormal and romantic elements and continues until the romance blossoms naturally. The series has everything…humor, thrills, suspense, mystery, romance. This one’s a gem.

  8. Favorite series of 2014 w=is Paradox series by Rachel Bach. Unbelievably good!

I also have to add in the Lucky Harbor series by Jill Shalvis. I loved ONE IN A MILLION. I’m sad this series is ending, but I loved seeing more of Lucille in this book.

  20. First, thanks for all the reviews and great books I’ve won this year. My favorite book of the year was (and still is) free. Blind Seduction, Book 1 of the Team Red series, is a little bit romance, a little bit paranormal and a little bit mystery all rolled in humor. T. Hammond has written a great series in the Team Red series.

  21. Done all of the above. Happy New Year! Congratulations on the blogoversery! I read tons of fabulous books this year and I really would have a hard time choosing one as my favorite, but I did find a new series for me this year. D B Reynolds Vampires in America. I really love these vampires and can’t believe it took me so long to find this series, but I get them as fast as they come out now.

  22. Happy New Year! Looking forward to another great year with TRC. Hard to pick just one book. I loved J.R. Ward’s The King. Jennifer Estep’s Black Widow was great too. There are many more.

  23. I loved many of the books I read in 2014. I look forward each year to the new book Anne Bishop has for her The Others series. Laura Kaye has a few this year from her Hard Ink series. Sherrilyn Kenyon’s The Son of NoOne was good.

  24. Happy New Year and thanks for all the fabulous reviews this past year! I’ve read a lot of great books in 2014 so it’s really had to pick a favorite. Honorable mentions goes to Kristan Higgins’ The Best Man, Jill Shalvis’ Rumor Has It, Sophie Barnes’ The Trouble With Being A Duke and Pamela Palmer’s Wulfe Untamed. I loved The Singer, Book 2 in Elizabeth Hunter’s Irin series. (This one sat on my TBR stack for a couple of months, actually, because I didn’t want to be interrupted while reading it, and because I didn’t want to finish it and have to wait for the next book in the series.) Susan Mallery’s When We Met finishes out my top of 2014!
