Description:
A warning ignored…a love denied

Four years ago, Commander Jack Ballantyne followed Special Agent Lowry Fisk into a death trap. Fortunately, both of them lived to tell the tale, but when he had Lowry drummed out of the British Intelligence Service for her own safety—and his own peace of mind—he knew she’d never forgive him.

Lowry Fisk knew, she just knew, that the Assassins, the secret black-ops unit of the Service she and Jack belonged to, had a mole. And as the Assassins Commander, Jack should have believed her, even though she had little evidence beyond a gut feeling. But when he hadn’t, she’d taken it upon herself to find the traitor—and ended up assaulted, shot, and left for dead. Jack had come to her rescue, but it had been too little, too late. Now all she wants to do is forget the attack, the Service, and the sexy, steely-eyed Commander with the power to make her feel weak.

But the mole is on the move, and he’s coming for Lowry to finish what he started. Jack has to get the stubborn, dangerously gorgeous woman to let him back into her life and allow him the Assassins to protect her—without allowing her to worm her way into his heart.

Review:

Hard to Forget by Incy Black is the 2nd book in her Hard To series.

Lowry ‘bloody’ Fisk (Jack’s nickname for the female in this book) wants to be a special agent in the British intelligence service, the best of the best is Jack’s assassin Team, so she works hard, and gets a place on the team. End of story, so you would think, but that is just the start of the story. There is instant attraction, but as neither can act on it, the attraction is buried under animosity.

Lowry begins to suspect there are traitors in the service in which she serves in, so begins a campaign of investigation, and instead of keeping it quiet until she had more evidence, she voices her opinions often and probably the wrong people.

Lowry is a pain in Jack’s butt, her conspiracy theories are unfounded, but she sure is cute, and she brings out the alpha in him, he wants Lowry, but not enough being her superior. It’s not supposed to happen.

Everything comes to a nasty ending for Lowry, she ends up on the wrong end of a kidnapping and sex slavery ring. She is brutally attacked (thank goodness we only get the bare facts) and to add insult to injury, Jack (in his defense he believes he is looking after her) Shoots her !!! She is dishonorably discharged. Lowry disappears to lick her wounds (everyone is unaware of her rape, hell will freeze over before she tells anyone)

4 years later …..

Lowry is now an artist and is doing her first exhibition. But the memory of the attack and the fact no one believed her about the leaks in the service has left her wary and still very afraid. When she bumps into both Jack and her attacker, Lowry’s flight instincts kick in, and she prepares to disappear.

Jack is there to silence Lowry one way or another. He thought he had seen the last of this woman. After shooting her, then drumming her out of his unit, he thought his life would return to normal, but he never forget her. Jack carries a lot of emotional baggage, and we see his struggle through the book.

Jack and Lowry team up to clear her name, and once he gets the whole picture, Jack swears the attacker will rue the day he crossed HIS woman.

The book is full of emotion and angst, and I LOVED it. The tears from Lowry had me joining in, and I felt all the emotion from both Jack and Lowry ‘bloody’ Fisk. The book is fast paced and full of some great twists.

If you like a James Bond type, then Jack is the man for you. And here’s hoping Jack’s brothers all get their stories
