REVIEW:  LOVE LIES AND WHISKEY is the fifth third instalment in Melissa Foster’s contemporary, adult THE WHISKEYS: DARK KNIGHTS REDEMPTION RANCH erotic, romance series focusing on the Whiskey family- a part of the author’s numerous interconnected series. This is veterinarians Dr. Seeley ‘Doc’ Whiskey, and Dr. Juliette Chambers’ story line. LOVE LIES AND WHISKEY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives including Doc and Juliette, using present day and memories from the past LOVE, LIES AND WHISKEY follows the rekindling romance and relationship between veterinarians Dr. Seeley ‘Doc’ Whiskey, and Dr. Juliette Chambers. More than sixteen years earlier eighteen year old, Seeley Whiskey fell in love with sixteen year old Juliette Adkin, a summer intern working at Redemption Ranch but Juliette’s well connected father flexed his muscle, threatening Seeley Whiskey, and the family he loved. Fast forward to present day, Juliette has moved to Weston Colorado in the hopes of starting anew but coming face to face with Seely Whiskey threatened Juliette’s hard fought control, and the secrets she was about to reveal. As Juliette and Seeley rekindled their relationship, past lies and secrets were about to reveal an horrific betrayal, as well as a life changing surprise.

One again, the world building follows several intersecting paths including the support of the large extended Whiskey family; their horse and animal shelter and rescue; devastating news in which everyone gathers for support, and the return of the past who is determined to destroy them all.

The relationship between Juliette and Doc is one of second chances; a rekindling romance destroyed by power, betrayal and control, and one man’s need to dominate and destroy anyone who got in his path. Doc is determined to prove he is worthy of Juliette’s love, and in doing so, the Whiskey family pledges to stand behind them in sickness and health. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top,sexually graphic language and text.

As per Melissa’s style of writing, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Doc’s parents and siblings, their significant others, as well as the familiar names of characters crossing over from the interconnected series.

LOVE, LIES AND WHISKEY is a story of power and control, betrayal, intimidation and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and friendships, forgiveness, support and love.
