Description:
Lúthien is a powerful Elf with a talent that has been hunted to the brink of extinction by the Demons. She is a daughter of the sun, one who is able to lead a soul back through the darkness and into the light. Her talent is to spread light amongst her people and in extreme cases to Elves who have lost their way. With the rescue of Garoldth’s brother, Golradir her powers have never been needed more for his treatment at the hands of the Demons over the millennium have left him scarred both mentally and physically.
Golradir would have been King instead of Garoldth if he hadn’t been captured by Demons. He has been held captive for over fifteen hundred years, during that time he was tortured mercilessly and now that he is free he only wants to be left alone to die in peace. It is not that simple in the Elven world though, and especially when the one person who can help heal both his body and his soul is his Life Mate. Will he let her? Or will he allow the darkness planted in the deepest recess of his soul swallow them both?
Review:
Luthien’s Song by M.A. Abraham is the 7th book in her Elven Chronicles series. For those who may not know about this series, it is a fun fantasy storyline about Elves, with some wonderful delightful characters that make you laugh, even in the midst of tense action. Luthien’s Song picks up after King’s Daughter left off. Golradir, is in horrible condition, after being abused for over a thousand years at the hands of the demons. The elves who rescued him bring him to Daroth to put together a team of the top known healers in the Elven lands, to handle the horrific task of trying to rebuild Golradir’s body from head to toes.
Luthien is a daughter of the sun, who has the ability (mostly kept secret) of healing ones soul, in the hope of bringing them back from the deepest dark depths to the light. When Luthien comes at the call from Daroth, she recognizes right away that the man (or whatever is left of him) lying in front of her is her lifemate. Golradir has buried himself deeply in his mind, where he found protection from the horrors done to him by the demons. Though he senses comfort, as Luthien enters his mind, and brings him to a peaceful place, he fears it is another trick by the demons.
I found this to be an amazing story, as M.A Abraham gave us a look at the healing powers of the Elves, many of whom have had their own stories (Eden, Haylo, Tamarak, Eol, Lothariel, etc), and some new healers we meet in this story. We watch at every step the healing done by the team of men and women working together to bring back a former king. What was so amazing was that Abraham made everything so real, detailing all that was done to this poor man and made us feel like we too were participating in the effort by all the Elves.
Luthien gave so much of herself to lessen Golradir’s pain by taking some of it, while she offered him her love in their private place in his mind. After time has passed, when Golradir became conscious, much to Luthien’s dismay, he rebuffed her love, because he feared he was tainted.
The recovery of Golradir will take three years, as we follow it all. The demons are still around and have set their sights on Luthien, who is a powerful elf that they want.
What follows is an exciting adventure to save Luthien, with all of our favorites trekking back to Demon land to find her. Golradir is now able to help; he knows he must save his lifemate from the fate he suffered, and he also wants revenge. Luthien’s Song is also a very nice romance that slowly builds.
Luthien’s Song is a poignant and passionate story of destructive evil, heartbreak, and the healing power of love. This book will pull on your emotions throughout, as M.A. Abraham has outdone herself with this amazing story. Well done!!
