ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 5, 2025

Avery Holcomb is tired of people taking things from him – his place in the family company, his job, even his wife (by his brother, no less). When he’s had enough, he drives away from Clarksville, Tennessee, with nothing but his trust fund to look for a better life. One stop in a convenience store just across the Texas border hands him the chance to have those literal greener pastures and more, and he grabs hold with both hands.

In the blink of an eye, someone is trying to take the ranch he bought for a song, and this time, it’s the former owner’s great-granddaughter. Lydia Kinsey is a thorn in his side. She’s the most aggravating, annoying, persistent, beautiful, sexy hellion who’s ever crossed Avery’s path, and as much as he hates her for threatening him, he wants her with everything in him. The kiss he gives her to shut her up in front of a local diner full of patrons infuriates her, but he has a feeling it also lit her fire just as it did his.

It doesn’t take him long to figure out that Lydia has secrets, and he’s determined to uncover them, even if it means sending her to jail. Her apology is their turning point, and in one smoldering evening, “down on the farm” takes on a whole new meaning for Avery. But some other force is at work there, an evil one, and without intervention, there’s a good chance that they’ll never see the happily ever after together that they both want so badly.

REVIEW: MORE THAN ANYTHING is the first instalment in Deanndra Hall’s contemporary, adult SMALL TOWN SOUTHERN BOYS erotic, romance series. This is Avery Holcomb, and Lydia Kinsey’s story line.

Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Avery and Lydia) MORE THAN ANYTHING follows Avery Holcomb on a new start in life. Fired from the family auto parts business, Avery packs up and leaves Tennessee for something bigger or better, finding himself near Texarkana Texas, and the proud owner of a struggling ranch. Within days, the previous owner’s great granddaughter Lydia Kinsey lays claim to the ranch, and Avery begins a legal and emotional battle for the place he now calls home.

The world building follows Avery and Lydia’s legal and personal battles including Avery’s struggle with the people he left behind. From the outset, the maturity of the main characters is questionable; Lydia finds herself in trouble with her actions and behavior; the locals keep tabs on Avery’s love life.

The relationship between Lydia and Avery is enemies to friends to lovers. Lydia refuses to back down but struggles to reveal why she is so adamant about taking control of her great grandfather’s estate. Avery wanted a new start but never expected to fall in love with our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are provocative and intense.

We are introduced to Avery’s roommate Jason Davidson, his brother Ben Holcomb, ex Shannon, and local girl Danette, whose reputation is infamous in and around the town Avery calls home.

MORE THAN ANYTHING is a story of secrets and obsession, madness and mayhem, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is engaging and interesting but a little different than Deanndra’s usual writing style. The characters are energetic and determined; the romance is impassioned.

Deanndra Hall is a working author living in the far western end of the beautiful Bluegrass State with her husband of over 35 years and small menagerie of weird little dogs. When she’s not writing, she’s editing. When she’s doing neither of those two things, she’s having dinner with friends, spending time with family, kayaking, eating chocolate, drinking beer or moonshine, or looking for something that she put in the wrong place and can’t seem to find (which is pretty much everything she owns).
