ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 6, 2023

In the grand scheme of things five years isn’t a very long time.
It goes by in a blink, literally.
Waking up with no recollection of the last five years is devastating.
The woman I remember loving is with someone else.
The only family I had is gone, and I’m forced to relive those losses all over again.
I’m now a member of Cerberus, and I can’t even recall if I signed on to get Rivet back or if I got over her before joining.
I have no other choice but to cling to the woman hired to help me recover because she’s the only one that knows less about me than I do.
I was afraid of never getting my memory back, but the closer I get to her makes me terrified of what will happen if I do.

REVIEW:BISHOP is the twenty-seventh instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic, MC romance series focusing on the members of the Cerberus MC- all former members of the US Marines. This is Brent ‘Bishop’ Porter, and nurses aide/single mother Sunshine Holt’s story line. BISHOP can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading UGLY book twenty-six for Bishop’s back story.

NOTE: If you have not read UGLY, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bishop and Sunshine) BISHOP follows in the aftermath of the attack by a serial killer against the Detective Lennox Maison (UGLY 26), leaving Brent ‘Bishop’ Porter fighting for his life. Approximately one month earlier, Bishop was working security when Lennox Maison was attacked, and our hero is in recovery at a local extended care home. In an effort to always keep someone on duty, the Cerberus MC hires nurses aide Sunshine Holt, a young woman whose own life is slowly imploding. Awakening from thirty days in a coma, Bishop has no memories from the previous five years but finds himself attracted to the familiarity of our story line heroine. Upon his release, Bishop continues to recover with the help of Sunshine Holt, the woman with whom Bishop will fall in love but all is not well in Sunshine’s life, when Bishop discovers our heroine is keeping a secret, he knows nothing about.

The world building focuses on Brent ‘Bishop’ Porter’s recovery, and regaining the memories of the previous five years. Struggling to understand the loss of the past, and to understand the memories of the present that no longer exist, Bishop finds himself falling for Sunshine Holt, the woman with a past that refuses to let go.

The relationship between Sunshine and Bishop begins as a job when Sunshine is hired to care for our story line hero. Throughout his recovery, Sunshine talks to Bishop about her life, a life Bishop begins to believe is part of his own. As Bishop’s health improves, Sunshine begins to believe she is no longer needed by the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Cerberus MC including Legend and Faith, MC president Kincaid; Sunshine’s ex Travis, and her co-worker Rachel, as well as Bishop’s ex Angeline aka Rivet. All of the members of the Cerberus MC work together to help in Bishop’s recovery, and Sunshine’s ability to move on from her past.

BISHOP is a story of recovery, understanding and acceptance, addiction and trauma, family, friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are dynamic, determined, struggling but surviving.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 30, 2023

Callum Russo is a meticulous man all about information, leverage, and control. Known only in the most exclusive circles, Callum is the man with the plan and he gets results by any means necessary. That is, until a blonde bombshell walks into his carefully curated life like a pretty, pink wrecking-ball. She has the potential to break through every one of the carefully constructed masks he’s spent years hiding behind.

Lexie West knows who she is and where her life is going. As a plus-size ER nurse working in New York City she thought she was prepared for anything that could be thrown at her. When she trades her travel contract at the hospital for a job house-sitting a luxury penthouse apartment, her only plans are to drink margaritas, try a few recipes, and find a good karaoke bar.

Until one night, when she rounds the corner to find a dangerously attractive giant standing in the penthouse kitchen who claims to own the apartment she is staying in.

She’s seen it all.

But she never could have expected him.

A knock on Lexie’s bedroom door in the middle of the night changes everything. Suddenly, she’s being swept into a world of violence, crime, and influence by a man who solves impossible problems for powerful people. She’s an unexpected wildcard in his perfect game but he’ll do anything he can to have her… by any means necessary.

••••••••••

REVIEW: ? Any Mean Necessary is the debut novel by Lila Herron, and I can honestly say I am so happy to have found this author. Before I even start on this review, fellow readers, check the trigger warnings on this, there is a lot that happens and we don’t want anyone blindsided or uncomfortable.

AMN is an amazing mix of dark romance meets grumpy sunshine trope, enemies to lovers, mafia/medical romance. What makes this book even better is that it’s a plus size female main character, and not one that changes (loses weight) as her relationship with her fella progressive. Lexie is a strong minded, plus-size character that knows her worth and who she is and who isn’t afraid to be just that, herself, her WHOLE self.

Callum is everything a reader could want in an over the top alpha guy. He is dark and brooding, his taste in women is the thicker the better and he doesn’t let anyones opinion on that change his mind. Callum is the hype main for morally gray main male characters. He has a code and he sticks to it, it may not always be what others think is right, but his code is law.

Lexie is a ER Nurse on an extended break, when a tragedy strikes at work, it shakes her to her very core and she needs time to get her head on straight. During this period of time, she takes over house sitting for another traveling nurse that she knows. A simple, no drama job in a sweet penthouse where she can recoup. She should have known it was too good to be true. When Lexie meets Callum it’s instant lust, but she doesn’t want him to know that, Callum however has no issues with sharing with her just how attractive he finds his new house guest.

Callum isn’t your everyday businessman, and Lexie can tell that from the first hello, she just didn’t know just how different his business was. Lexie is now at Callum’s beck and call as his personal nurse, except this gig comes with more than PTO and a sweet pad to crash in. This one comes with bullet holes, broken body parts and more drama than she ever expected.

Callum doesn’t want attachments, but Lexie is changing more than one thing around the penthouse, his heart included. When things finally start getting down and dirty, the spice level is ?, their chemistry is spot on, their relationship is built on more than just sex, they are both caring and protective of one another. Of course, Callum wouldn’t be a man if he didn’t put his foot in his mouth at least once, and boy oh boy when he does…No Spoilers! Just read!

Thank you for the new expectations of men that I know they will never reach Ms. Lila!

In the Weeds by B.K. Borison – a Review

Description:
Evelyn St. James isn’t the kind of woman you forget.

Beckett Porter certainly hasn’t. One incredible weekend in Maine, and he’s officially a man distracted. He’s not unfamiliar with hot and heavy flings. He knows how it goes. But Evie wove some sort of magic over him during their tumble in the sheets. He can’t stop thinking about her laugh. Her hand pressed flat against his chest. Her smiling mouth at his neck.

Also, her eyes. And her legs.

So when she suddenly appears on his farm as part of a social media contest, he is … confused. He had no idea that the sweet and sexy woman he met at a bar is actually a global phenomenon: social media influencer Evelyn St. James. When she disappears again, Beckett resolves to finally forget her and move on.

But Evelyn St. James has a problem.

Feeling disconnected from her work and increasingly unhappy, she’s trying to find her way back to something real. She returns to the last place she was happy, Lovelight Farms and the tiny town of Inglewild.

It has absolutely nothing to do with the hot farmer she spent two incredible nights with.

Nothing at all.

In The Weeds is a sweet and steamy second-chance romance about finding your happiness. It features a grumpy farmer, a no-nonsense social media influencer, a small town of busybodies, and four very cute kittens. In The Weeds is a standalone romance and is part of the Lovelight series.

Review:

In the Weeds by B.K. Borison is the second book in her Lovelight series.  Beckett Porter, is in charge of the farm aspects in Lovelight, with Stella the owner, and Layla, who runs the bakery.  Beckett is an introvert, not a talker, but everyone at Lovelight, in town and his family all love him.  When he attends a conference, he meets Evie at the bar, with both of them immediately attracted to one another.  They end up having a wild unforgettable two-night stand during the weekend; and Beckett can’t stop thinking about her.  To his surprise, he discovers the woman who he met in Maine, was social media influencer Evelyn St. James, who was in town featuring Lovelight Farms, in her contest.  Though she is there for the contest that she is running, she spends time getting to know Beckett, and how he has a hard time dealing with crowds and people.  Though he can be grumpy, Evie sees how wonderful and caring he is, especially with homeless kittens and a duck. When she leaves, to continue her work, Beckett figures he needs to forget about her.

Evie’s job is beginning to pressure her, and her friend tells her she is feeling burnout, and suggests for Evie to go somewhere where she last felt happy.   She decides to go to Lovelight Farms, where she last felt happy.  She ends up staying in Beckett’s house, since he has a few rooms, and finds herself happy to be on the farm, as well as participate in learning the chores to help, not to mention loving the people who live in Inglewild.  Evie was the perfect person for Beckett, as she was always helping him through his noise issues, and social anxiety; she was the sunshine to his darkness.

What follows is a sweet lovers’ relationship between Beckett and Evie, who had such awesome chemistry between them.  The journey to find happiness was wonderful and endearing; and Evie was so caring and understanding helping Beckett.

Evie was a wonderful heroine, as she was sweet, independent, and caring.  Beckett was totally hooked into Evie from their first night stand, and he constantly worshiped her, always worried that she would eventually leave.  The secondary characters were all so great, which included Stella, Layla, Luka, Dane, etc.  I got a kick out of the cute kittens.

In the Weeds was another fun, cute, sweet romance, great couple, terrific secondary characters in this continuation of the Lovelight series.  I look forward to reading Layla story. I suggest you read this series, as it’s a fun story, and very well written by B.K. Borison.

And neither was Mooky.

Mooky has a plan to get his life in order and win Blue back. There is a light at the end of the tunnel. There has to be.

Turns out, that light is from a cop car. Their bad situation surpassed Tragic and landed firmly in Abysmal. Otherwise known as jail

Can Mooky put an end to the chaos and to the police pressure on the club? Or will he and Blue find themselves at the doorstep of Náströnd?

•••••

REVIEW: BLUE is the sixth instalment in Victoria Jayne’s contemporary, adult ODIN’S FURY erotic, MC romance series. This is the continuing story of club member/tattoo artist Charles ‘Mooky’ Retz, and Dakota ‘Blue’ Frost. BLUE should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events and cliff hanger of book five MOOKY. If you have not read MOOKY, there may be spoilers in my review.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Mooky and Blue) BLUE follows in the aftermath of the break up of our story line couple. For all intents and purposes Mooky is a married man, although he has been separated from his wife for a very long but the separation has come at a cost. A rookie cop with a vendetta targeting Mooky Retz , threatens not only his children but the woman he loves. As Mooky struggles to stay one step ahead of the dirty cop, Blue is about to pay the price for sins of the past. What ensues is the rebuilding relationship between Mooky and Blue, and the potential fall-out as Blue is targeted in the name of revenge.

Mooky Retz tried to keep the marriage together for the sake of the kids but the vitriol, cheating and anger were too much to bare. A quicky divorce was out of the question but threats to Blue meant someone else was about to become the target of the ODIN’S FURY MC. Dakota ‘Blue’ Frost fell in love with Mooky while mentoring at his tattoo shop but sometimes loves is not enough, and Blue found herself, on the outside looking in, when Mooky’s past refuses to let go.

The relationship between Mooky and Blue is a second chance relationship. Blue is a former clubgirl with the Odin’s Fury MC but is hoping to make a name for herself as a tattoo artist, on her own. With Mooky doing work for the club, Blue finds herself struggling with her own direction in life, reconsidering the path on which she was about to embark. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

We are reintroduced to Odin’s Fury MC-club VP Dash, president Clark, Cajun, attorney Nate Sawyer, as well as Blue’s BFF club girl Sarah, and tattoo artists Mammoth and Stella; Mooky’s soon to be ex-wife Angela, their children Star and River, and Officer Dylan Holt.

BLUE is a story of vengeance and obsession, betrayal and bitterness, forgiveness, acceptance and love. The fast paced, anxiety-ridden premise is tragic, raw and dramatic; the characters are dynamic and stubborn; the romance is spirited and edgy.

Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon -Dual Review

Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon – Dual Review

Amazon / B&N / Kobo / Google Play / Apple / BAM / Bookbub

Description:
Chandler Cohen has never felt more like the ghost in “ghostwriter” until she attends a signing for a book she wrote—and the author doesn’t even recognize her. The evening turns more promising when she meets a charming man at the bar and immediately connects with him. But when all their sexual tension culminates in a spectacularly awkward hookup, she decides this is one night better off forgotten.

Unfortunately, that’s easier said than done. Her next project is ghostwriting a memoir for Finn Walsh, a C-list actor best known for playing a lovable nerd on a cult classic werewolf show who now makes a living appearing at fan conventions across the country. But Chandler knows him better from their one-night stand of hilarious mishaps.

Chandler’s determined to keep their partnership as professional as possible, but when she admits to Finn their night together wasn’t as mind-blowing as he thought it was, he’s distraught. He intrigues her enough that they strike a deal: when they’re not working on his book, Chandler will school Finn in the art of satisfaction. As they grow closer both in and out of the bedroom, they must figure out which is more important, business or pleasure—or if there’s a way for them to have both.

Review:

Business or Pleasure by Rachel Lynn Solomon is a standalone sexy romantic novel. We meet Chandler Cohen, who loves writing, but can’t get her career started; so she writes other people’s stories as a ghost writer. Chandler shares a house with her bff/ cousin, who happens to work in public relations, making a lot more money, and helps pay their expenses. After a fiasco, where the author, who she ghosted, did not even know her; Chandler ends at a bar, and meets a sweet and fun nerd, and they end up in a one-night stand.  But the sex was a disaster, the worse experience she ever had.  The following morning, Chandler’s agent, arranges a meeting with actor Finn Walsh and his agent to discuss writing Finn’s memoirs.  Of course, when she meets Finn and his agent, to her shock, Finn was the man she had the one night with.  At first, Chandler was going to turn down the offer, but the money was double what she normally did, and accepts the job, which will allow her to travel.

Chandler learns more about the TV show (cult paranormal), Finn, and his co-stars were on, with many hoping for the show to find a way back.  She meets all the co-stars, and sees how popular they all became, especially when they attended the comic cons. Chandler admits to Finn, that their one-night stand was a terrible disaster.  Finn wants Chandler to teach him to learn how to seduce woman, including talking dirty.  Chandler accepts the challenge, and suggests they will need to practice. They start off with kissing, and soon they will begin to explore each other’s bodies, with Chandler teaching him what she likes; and soon they grow closer, both in and out of the bedroom.

What follows is a slow burn romance, that is very steamy, and I really did find myself caring about Chandler and Finn. The made a great couple, with a wonderful fun connection between them; with their friendship & flirting, not to mention their openness with sex. Personally, I did think there were so many sex scenes, that on occasion I did skip some.

Business or Pleasure was very well written by Rachel Lynn Solomon.  I have loved her books so far, even if I thought this one was steamier then the others.  If you like very sexy romance, I suggest you read Business or Pleasure.

_______

Sandy’s Review:

BUSINESS OR PLEASURE by Rachel Lynn Solomon is a contemporary, adult, erotic, romance story line focusing on thirty-four year old, former teen actor Finn Walsh, and thirty-one year old journalist/ghost writer Chandler Cohen.

Told from first person perspective (Chandler) BUSINESS OR PLEASURE focuses on the building romance and relationship between thirty-four year old, former teen actor Finn Walsh, and thirty-one year old journalist/ghost writer Chandler Cohen. Chandler Cohen is a journalist by degree but a ghost writer by career, and her latest assignment ends with an awkward one-night stand meant to forgettable and uninvolved, only to discover said one-night stand is Chandler’s next assignment, the man with whom she spent one uncomfortable night. Enter former teen actor Finn Walsh, and the man with whom Chandler will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Chandler and Finn, as Chandler must navigate ghost-writing a memoir for the man who is asking for so much more.

The relationship between Chandler and Finn begins as a bumbling one-night stand of which Chandler was hoping never to remember but Finn, having lied about his true identity to our story line heroine wants Chandler to write his story, and teach him how to please a woman in the bedroom and beyond. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

The world building continues to focus on Finn’s career as a teen heart-throb, his emotional struggles, and his ineptness with the opposite $ex but also focuses on the growing relationship and love between our story line couple.

Finn Walsh’s character overcame many obstacles in his life but his development throughout the story reveals a man who is struggling with his success and his life. Falling for Chandler was never in the cards but fall he did for the woman who knew more about Chandler than anyone else.

Both Finn and Chandler are likeable characters but from the outset Chandler battles with what she remembered about their one night stand, and the discrepancies with what Finn is about to reveal.

The sexual tension is palpable especially in light of their mutual attraction and failed one-night stand, a night Finn believes was a success. As the story line builds, Finn will discover there is more to $ex than reaching the end.

BUSINESS OR PLEASURE is a slow building story line about family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is engaging, entertaining and captivating but there is limited conflict other than neither one knowing what happens next. The characters are determined; the romance is fated and fun. Like most of author’s books I have read, she does address the Jewish faith in her story line.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date

When my grandmother found out she didn’t have long to live, she embarked on a crazy trip—jumping out of airplanes and scuba diving with sharks.

After I repeatedly voiced my concern, Gram blocked me—her own grandson—on text and social media, leaving me only her travel companion Eleanor’s number.

Eleanor started sending me pictures of Gram’s adventures. At first she seemed nice, but when I attempted to persuade her to talk some sense into her friend, she told me where I could stick my advice. After that, photos arrived with snarky comments, and Eleanor and I got into it on more than one occasion.

When I heard Gram’s upcoming plans were more dangerous than ever, I hopped on a plane.

Since I arrived late, I headed to the bar for a drink, figuring I’d surprise her in the morning.

To my delight, I met a gorgeous woman looking for a no-strings-attached night. Nora was just what I needed. She invited me back to her room, telling me to give her a ten-minute head start. But when I went to pay her bar tab, I realized how much she’d had to drink. As much as I wanted to ignore it, I couldn’t. So I stood Nora up.

I knew she’d be pissed, but I also knew I’d never see her again.

Except never came a little early. Namely, the next morning when I went to meet my grandmother and her evil-spinster friend. Because old Eleanor turned out to be young Nora from last night. And if I thought the woman disliked me before, that was nothing compared to how ticked-off she was now. Or how unhappy she was going to be that their party of two was about to become a party of three.

REVIEW: SOMETHING UNEXPECTED by Vi Keeland is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, erotic, romance story line focusing on businessman Beckham ‘Beck’ Cross and Eleanor ‘Nora’ Sutton.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Nora and Beck) SOMETHING UNEXPECTED follows the building romance and relationship between businessman Beckham ‘Beck’ Cross and photographer Eleanor ‘Nora’ Sutton. An accidental meeting at a bar introduces our couple to one another but Beck did not make a great impression, and Nora Sutton went on her way. With the help of her friend, Beck’s grandmother Louise is hoping to fulfill a bucket list of activities before she dies but said friend is a burr up our hero’s behind. Never expecting to come face to face with the woman from the bar, Beck will discover his grandmother’s friend is the woman currently starring in his fantasies and dreams. Enter photographer Eleanor ‘Nora’ Sutton, and the woman with whom Beckham will fallen love but Louise’s health is deteriorating fast, and Beck struggles with letting go of the woman who raised him and his brother. Often meeting up with Nora and Louise, Beck begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine, a woman who demands nothing more than friendship, and no happily ever after. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Beck and Nora, and the potential fall-out as Nora’s secrets and lies threaten to break Beckham’s heart.

Nora Sutton has her secrets but she refuses to cross the line from friendship to love. Hoping to complete Louise’s bucket list of travels, Nora sets out with Beckham’s grandmother but Louise’s health is too frail to continue. Beckham, along with his brother Jake, were raised by their grandmother, and she is the only family the brothers have left. Struggling to accept his grandmother’s fate, and her desire to travel near the end of her life, Beck often finds himself ‘stalking’ Nora and Louise, something that brings Beck up close and personal with our story line heroine.

The relationship between Nora and Beck begins as an accidental meeting but Beck has no idea as to Nora’s relationship with his grandmother, a relationship that is both purgative and cathartic for our story line heroine. As Nora and Beck’s relationship continues to build, Nora pushes Beck out of her life, keeping secret the true nature of her need to journey alone. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate and provocative.

We are introduced to Beck’s brother Jake, their grandmother Louise, as well as Nora’s father William Sutton.

SOMETHING UNEXPECTED is a twisted story of secrets and lies, struggle and battles, acceptance and death, understanding and love. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive ; the characters are desperate and determined.

But Sebastian has never had the feelings for her that she has had for him, the crush of a young girl and then the love of a woman. NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers including violence, BDSM and Daddy/baby girl dynamic (but no age play).

Told from several intersecting paths and dual first person perspectives (Matteo and Maria) MAFIA BEAUTY focuses on the building romance and relationship between thirty-one year old Matteo, and twenty-nine year old, radiologist Dr. Maria Mancinelli. Matteo and Maria are/were childhood friends but Matteo’s connection to the Mancinelli meant our hero watched from afar as the woman he loved moved on with her life. Threats against Maria Mancinelli forced Matteo to claim our story line heroine as his own, threats that are about to take aim the entire family.

Matteo was raised alongside the Mancinelli family, best friends with Maria’s older brother Luca. Matteo has been in love with Maria for close to eleven years, and it is time he claimed our heroine as his own. Like all of the previous relationships in the author’s series, there is a Daddy/baby girl dynamic (but no age play or littles). The $ex scenes are provocative and intense.

Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of powerful and colorful secondary and supporting characters including many members of the Irish Mob, Italian Mafia (aka Cosa nostra), Russian Bratva, Mexican Culiacan Cartel, Japanese Yakuza, and Albanian mobs including the large extended Mancinelli Brotherhood family including Maria’s brothers Luca, Lorenzo and Marco, their parents Massimo and Nicoletta; cousin Carmine, and Carmine’s best friend/brother Gabriele; uncle Salvatore Mancinelli (don of New York), and his wife Sylvia, all who play an active role throughout the series.

MAFIA BEAUTY is a a story of jealousy, betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family, friendships, relationships and love. The premise is detailed, complex and entertaining; the characters are numerous, powerful and determined; the romance is passionate, seductive and erotic.
