He doesn’t realize he’s sleeping with the enemy…

Our dream vacation turned into a living hell when Mom and I were kidnapped.

The cartel wants to use me to exact revenge on La Cosa Nostra, and my mother is the collateral damage.

To save her, I agree to their vile plan and return to New York, faking my way into Don DiPietro’s home as a nanny to his adorable son.

Seducing my boss is the goal. I need to gain his trust and then betray him.

Except the longer I’m around Cristian and Elio, the more I realize I can’t hurt them.

Especially when I develop genuine feelings for the hot single dad who has sacrificed so much for his adopted son.

The attraction isn’t one-sided, but Cristian seems determined to maintain boundaries.

Until we both reach a breaking point and cave to our desire.

One touch, one taste, is all it takes to fall desperately in love.

Cristian is everything I’ve ever wanted, but he doesn’t know of my deception.

I’m on borrowed time.

And when it all comes crashing down, I’m not the only one who pays the price.

REVIEW:PROTECTING WHAT’S MINE is a contemporary, adult, dark, Mafia romance story line set in the author’s Accardi Twins and Mazone Mafia worlds. This is thirty-two year old, Don Cristian DiPietro, and twenty one year old nanny Sloane Barton Clark. PROTECTING WHAT’S MINE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Several characters cross over for cohesion and back story.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sloane and Cristian) PROTECTING WHAT’S MINE follows Sloane Barton Clark in the aftermath of her and her mother’s abduction by the Mexican Cartel. After seven months of suffering at the hands of the Cartel, Sloane will discover she is about to become a pawn in a much larger game, aimed at taking down Don Cristian DiPietro, and should she fail, her mother will forfeit what’s left of her life but Sloane never expected to fall in love with our story line hero, a man who is determined to protect the woman with whom he is falling in love. As a member of the five New York Mafia families, Cristian has a target on his back but never expected the betrayal to come from within.

The world building is riveting, and focuses on Sloane and Cristian’s building relationship and the secrets Sloane struggles to hide-including her role in taking down our story line hero. As Sloane’s deception begins to spiral, the reality of what is happening is revealed, and our heroine, once again, finds herself on the run to save her life.

The relationship between Sloane and Cristian begins as a lie when Sloane is hired to be Cristian’s son Elio’s nanny. Cristian struggles not to cross the invisible line between professional and personal but his attraction to Sloane makes for complicated bedfellows when he discovers Sloane is not whom she claims to be. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

The large ensemble of secondary and supporting characters are determined and dynamic including the return of many familiar faces from the interconnected series : Natalia Mazzone: Don Joshua Accardi and his wife Gia: Don Caleb Accardi and his wife Elisa ;Don Fiero Maltese and his wife Valentine; Don Massimo Greco; Rowan and Tullia; We are introduced to Cristian’s parents Josef and Beatrice DiPietro; Elio’s maternal aunt Isotta and grandfather Rafaelo Da Rosa.

PROTECTING WHAT’S MINE is an emotional and captivating story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, secrets and lies, angst and mistrust. The premise is dramatic, dark and gritty; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are desperate, broken and charismatic.
