REVIEW:SINFUL ENEMY is the third instalment in M. Robinson’s contemporary, adult BECKHAM DYNASTY erotic, romance series. This is rancher Ledger Beckham, and fashion designer Hazel Blakely. SINFUL ENEMY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Hazel and Ledger) SINFUL ENEMY follows the brother’s best friend to enemies to lovers relationship between almost thirty year olds Ledger Beckham and Hazel Blakely. Hazel and her twin brother Chance grew up and were best friends with Ledger Beckham. At nine years old, Hazel fell in love with her brother’s best friend but the night before they left for college, her world imploded leaving a heart broken Hazel to go it alone. Fast forward approximately one year, Ledger would destroy what was left of Hazel’s heart, and if would be close to ten years before Ledger would cross paths with our story line heroine, and one night together was about to upend their worlds for the rest of their lives. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Ledger and Hazel, and the potential fall-out as Hazel struggles to let go of the past, a past that continues to eat away at her heart.

The world building focuses on the broken friendship between Hazel and Ledger. Hazel fell in love with Ledger at nine years of age but as they got older, Ledger was warned away from our story line heroine. Ledger knew, one day, he would claim Hazel as his very own but time, baggage and words said in anger threatened any future for Ledger and the woman he loves. The two families are estranged adding more pain to an already heavy heart.

The relationship between Hazel and Ledger is a brother’s best friend, enemies to lovers in which a lifetime of friendship is destroyed by passion and rage, hatred and grief. Hazel fell in love with a boy who destroyed her heart but one night together would force our couple to reconsider the future, with or without the profession of love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.

The secondary and supporting characters include Hazel’s twin brother Chance, and their embittered and embroiled parents. We are reintroduce to Ledger’s brother Jace and his wife Cove, and their sister Haven and her boyfriend Chase. The friendship between Chance and Ledger will be affected by Ledger’s love for our story line heroine but a surprise pregnancy is about to threaten their friendship going forward.

SINFUL ENEMY is a story of dysfunctional family and broken friendships, secrets and lies, grief and loss, forgiveness and love. The premise is emotional and heart breaking; the romance is fated and impassioned; the characters are struggling but determined and stubborn.
