ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 17, 2024

I have fought.
I have bled.
I have wreaked havoc for my family.

Anyone who threatened us, tried to break us, I broke them instead.

Then, there was peace.
Marriage.
Children.
Life was good.
Life was great.

Until my phone rang one night.

Retired, I was no longer in the NFL.
We’d recently moved back to Fallen Crest.
So I should’ve known.
I should’ve remembered.

There is no peace in Fallen Crest.

War wasn’t coming.
It was already here.

REVIEW:KADE is the ninth and finals instalment in Tijan’s contemporary, new adult / adult erotic, romantic suspense series. KADE is the culmination of the previous eight instalments focusing on family, friendships, betrayal and lies, and the introduction of the next generation. KADE should not be read as a stand alone as much of the current timeline has been affected by events from the past. For fans of Tijan and her numerous series, there is a slight cross over with the author’s Bennett Mafia series.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from three first person perspectives (Mason, Samantha, Maddy) KADE follows in the aftermath of devastating loss for the Kade family. Mason and Logan Kade are the new owners and proprietors of Kade Enterprises but passing of the torch comes with secrets once thought buried and gone. Meanwhile, Mason and Samantha’s daughter Maddy is openly defiant of the rules laid down by her over protective family, rules Maddy continues to abuse and disobey but all is not as it appears to be, someone else is taking aim at the Kade Family dynamics.

The world building follows several intersecting and interconnected pathways including some ongoing issues the family thought were resolved. The next generation of Fallen Crest alumni is growing, taking aim at their future with the inclusion and acceptance of the past, taking up where their parents left off.

There is a large ensemble cast of familiar, charismatic and sometimes questionable yet dangerous secondary and supporting include Channing, Heather and Max; Nate and Quincey; the popular jocks, and mean girls; business associates and investors; the Bennett Mafia, and the Red Demons MC.

KADE is a story of secrets and lies, power and control, betrayal and vengeance, madness and murder, obsession and ruination, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is dark, dramatic with some humorous moments; the characters are struggling yet moving forward. KADE ends on a bit of a HEA for now as the author has plans for a spin off focusing on the next generation in CAIN UNIVERSITY SERIES.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 1, 2024

As the eldest daughter of one of England’s most influential families, Lady Eva Riddle has no time for love. Since the tragic accident that claimed her parents and fiancé, she has devoted herself entirely to raising her younger sisters. But when a cryptic letter surfaces regarding her parents’ past, it directs her to seek out a former Bow Street Runner, Garrett Dryden—a strikingly handsome rogue with a wicked smile and the only man who can help her uncover the truth.

Garrett Dryden, once accustomed to a life of privilege, now sells his skills to the highest bidder. Romance is the last thing on his mind; that is, until a captivating new client arrives at his door. Lady Eva is poised, breathtakingly beautiful, and a symbol of everything he despises about high society. Though he knows the mystery she seeks to unravel will lead them both into peril, Garrett reluctantly agrees to help.

As their partnership deepens, so does the undeniable attraction between them. But trust is hard-won for a disillusioned rogue, and Eva’s lingering doubts about Garrett’s shadowy past could leave her reputation—and her heart—in jeopardy. In a world where scandal can destroy even the most enduring love, will they risk everything for a chance at happiness?

The first in The Riddle Sisters series, Lady Eva’s Fallen Rogue is a Regency romance filled with endearing characters, secrets, and a love that defies all odds.

••••••••

REVIEW: A new series by an author I’ve not read before.

Lady Eva Riddle’s parents and fiancé are killed in a tragic carriage accident, and for over a year now, she’s looked after her younger siblings. One day she received a package and a letter, it advises her to talk to no one about the contents, but to seek out an ex Bow Street Runner.

Garrett Dryden is now a book binder, well that’s his cover, he’s actually private investigator (or thief catcher) down on his luck, he was once a man of wealth and title. He’s quick to judge the wealthy as they usually come across and rude and arrogant. But secretly longs to restore his good name.

He’s approached by a young woman who asks for his help in solving a case. At first he’s not really interested. But something about the case intrigues him….

Together they set off to uncover the mystery of the package and the “supposedly” accidental death of her parents and fiancée.

Both have trust issues, and it does take a little time for that trust to be earned. And even it does, then Garrett is convinced she is the last for him! But can he keep her safe from the danger that soon befalls them?

A clean/sweet romance is what I usually read when I’ve overloaded on dark/mafia and heavy topics. And this one hit the spot.

Both Garrett and Eva are really great characters, technically from the same background, until Garrett falls on hard times (do we find out why? 🤐) both are hard workers, both want answers to the puzzle that surrounds them.

A few plot twists (a few I saw coming, but one or two did surprise me.)

How will Eva take the news that her parents and fiancée were not all they seemed? And will she be able to serve justice on their behalf?

It’s the first book in a new series, and I can’t wait to see where the next one takes us. This one ends well, but leaves it open for the next book. So I’d probably advise reading in order.

If you like your romance with no smut, but with plenty of mystery, then I think you’ll like this one.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date December 12, 2024

I want something true.

Torin

Hiding behind my mascot mask has always worked in my favor. As someone with social anxiety and paralyzing shyness, the ability to be out in the world without being seen is the only way I’m able to function. It also means I can long for my crush from afar without him knowing.

I’m invisible inside my costume and try to go unseen otherwise. Except that Hugo always sees me because he’s such a sweet, kind, thoughtful man. Is it any surprise that I’m completely in love with him?

What starts out as an accidental anonymous text turns into a date but there’s just one problem. Hugo thinks he’s texting a girl. What happens when he finds out that’s not the case?

Hugo

When my closest friends all pair up, I’m left as the unpartnered ninth wheel, which becomes awkward and makes me feel out of place. That’s where my new friend, Torin, comes in.

The face behind the Surry the Seal is Torin Jonah. He’s so quiet and nice, I try to always make sure to say hi to him when I see him. It’s not hard to make sure someone knows that you see them.

We start hanging out all the time – having sleepovers, platonic cuddling, maybe a little throwback to teenage mutual jerking sessions in the shower amongst bros. When I tell him that I’ve been talking to this girl and I think I like her, suddenly I feel like I’m being unfaithful to him.

Now I’m not sure what to do. Date this girl or maybe see if Torin could possibly be interested in me and see what happens.

•••••

REVIEW:I absolutely loved this book. It’s my second favourite in this series.

Yes it’s a slow burn (but I’m so glad it was) is there plenty of hockey? (yes there is) do we catch up with regulars from the series? Absolutely.

Torin although part of this series, hasn’t really been seen in previous books. He’s the clubs mascot. Hidden behind a mask is just how Torin likes it. Suffering from crippling anxiety meant Torin can’t really get a job that he’s seen! So hiding gives him a wage and a sense of purpose.

Torin also has a HUGE crush on Hugo. It started also as soon as Torin spots Hugo, and when he says hi, or waves to him, it just makes his crush grow.

But Hugo is straight, and Torin wouldn’t ever put himself in a position to say hi.

Hugo is a defender, it’s his job to keep the puck away before it gets to the goal. He’s a big guy, and has been told often he’s just a “jock”, he’s been told to think before he speaks as he often offends! He loves his team mates, and he loves what he does…..

But….. Hugo is lonely! He’s watching his friends pair off and find their happy ever afters. And the puck bunnies don’t really hold any interest for him anymore. (In fact, there is a part in here that makes me 😱 and then 😢)

Torin starts the ball rolling by accidentally texting Hugo! (I’m not going to give that part away, as I did chuckle at that incident.) Hugo responds, and they start a conversation…..

Meanwhile Hugo has started coming over and saying hi to Torin, and a friendship begins…..

Hugo is socially awkward, he just says whatever he thinks or feels. (Not really the done thing, but I found it endearing) he likes the friendship that is growing between Torin and him, but he’s also looking forward to the texts he receives from his new friend. And as his feelings for both of the people, start to grow, he has to make a choice….

So what happens when Hugo goes on a date with his text “girl” and meets the man who has slowly taken over Hugo’s every waking moment?

OMG!! There is apart in here, that absolutely broke me 😢 I kept fingers, toes and everything in between crossed 🤐

The storyline is absorbing, the characters had my attention from the first word, until the last one. I just wanted this story to go on and on and on.

I like the words we get from the author in the beginning of her book, and at the end. Usually very thought provoking.

REVIEW:SHADOW OF JUSTICE : THE FALL AND RISE is the first instalment in Jules Macleod’s contemporary, adult, paranormal, police thrillers focusing on thirty three year old NYPD Detective Josh Watson, and his partner Detective Robert Cooper.

Told from several omniscient third person POVs including Josh Watson, and numerous and limited perspectives SHADOW OF JUSTICE: THE FALL AND RISE follows NYPD Detective Josh Watson as he hunts for the killer of his NYPD partner. Detective Robert ‘Bobby’ Cooper was gunned downed, and in the aftermath, Detective Josh Watson begins to spiral out of control. On a leave of absence then suspended for disobeying orders, Josh goes in search of a killer, aided by the ghosts from the past. Meanwhile, the Colombian Cartel is at work in New York, and Josh finds himself at the center of another investigation wherein a journey to South America forces Josh to reconsider everything he left behind.

The world building follows several paths, two investigations, and an action packed search for the truth. Although Detective Robert Cooper’s murder is quickly resolved, Josh Watson, with the help of his ‘spirit guide’ finds himself at a crossroads going forward but saying that the jump between points of view is often frenetic as is the bounce between limited and omniscient perspectives.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, powerful, dangerous and questionable secondary and supporting characters including several NYPD law enforcement; staff psychiatrist Dr. Jacqueline Bradshaw ; Colombian police and special forces COPES; and several members of the Colombian Cartel.

SHADOW OF JUSTICE is a slow building, intriguing and engaging story of murder and vengeance, secrets and the supernatural; acceptance and decisions. The premise is captivating but there is more telling than showing, and once again the jump between characters and perspectives can be disconcerting. There is a mix of written narrative, contemplation and reflection. SHADOW OF JUSTICE ends on a bit of a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

REVIEW:SHADOW OF JUSTICE: MOVING ON by Jules Macleod is the second instalment in the author’s contemporary, adult, paranormal, police thriller focusing on thirty three year old NYPD Detective Josh Watson, and his partner Detective Robert Cooper. MOVING ON should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up after the events of book one THE FALL AND RISE.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several omniscient third person POVs including Josh Watson and numerous limited perspectives SHADOW OF JUSTICE: MOVING ON follows Detective Josh Watson as he reconsiders his future. Having left the police force to start anew as a private investigator, Josh finds himself working alongside his former colleagues as his latest assignment continues to focus on the Colombian Cartel. Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of energetic and charismatic secondary and supporting characters including NYPD law enforcement, Captain Sam Granger and Colombian Special Forces aka COPES.

SHADOW OF JUSTICE: MOVING ON is another dramatic and engaging story of secrets and the supernatural, power and control, acceptance and moving on. The premise is intriguing and entertaining but like the first instalment the jump between characters and perspectives (often between paragraphs) can be disconcerting

REVIEW:Bleeding Heart: A Holiday Romance is the fourth book in the Sara Browne series by Tricia T. Larochelle

Scott is working at an architectural firm, and Sara is working at a middle school with special needs students. They are building their lives together. Scott is building their dream home.

Sara loves her work and just wants a peaceful, calm life with Scott.

While she struggles at times to overcome the trauma of her past, she works hard to try and keep it in check. That is until a infamous murderer escapes, and Sara’s world is turned upside down. Their small town is on high alert, and this brings Sara’s trauma and emotions to the surface again.

While she struggles, she is faced with a difficult choice. Will this choice threaten her future with Scott.
Can they get through the turmoil that has once again overtaken their lives.

This book was a wonderful holiday addition to the Sara Browne series. It can be read as a stand-alone, but I recommend the entire series. This book, as with all of the books by Tricia, takes you on a whirlwind journey through emotions, twists and trauma. I not only love the main characters in these books, but the sub-characters of Amy and Luke are also amazing. I highly recommend if you want a twisty, turn of emotion’s this holiday season.

I turned over to face my clock that flashed 2:33 a.m. with its neon-blue digits. Why was I awake? A dry mouth answeredme. Thirst. I did eat a lot of pizza, and I did have two cosmos. I sat up, trying to rouse my mind enough to head to the bathroom to get some water.
All at once, a noise came out of nowhere. What was that?
I froze. Was it the wind hitting the house? The forecast had called for high winds, the enemy of outdoor Christmas decorations. Plus, this house was new, and I needed to get acquainted with its creaks and gentle moans. A nearby oak cast its shadowy branches across my window, and I found myself imagining it waving hello.
I lowered my feet to the floor and stood, my body suddenly cold. After making love, I often slept naked next to Scott, but in the winter, my shoulders had a way of chilling the rest of my body. Realizing this, I shuffled over to my closet and grabbed a nightshirt and pants made of brushed cotton.
Another sound came from … upstairs? I gazed at the ceiling. Was it a scrape or …? I struggled to process.
And then bang.
My heart practically leaped out of my chest.
Okay, that wasn’t the wind. And that wasn’t a tree, either, unless one was coming through
our second floor right now. I crept over to Scott and shook his shoulders. “Scott, I heard a noise upstairs.” Terror engulfed my senses, making it difficult to breathe.
All I could think was is it the escaped convict, Randy?
