ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 28, 2015

Selena Rosenthal left behind her high school sweetheart, who was the love of her life, seven years ago.

Now, she and the once-rebellious Oliver Bowman are back in Chandlerville—after his foster father’s heart attack and Selena’s contentious divorce—to deal with her secrets, the recklessness that caused their breakup, and the almost-strangers they’ve become to each other and their families.

As soon as his father is stronger, Oliver must return to the successful career that helps support a new generation of foster kids. But he’s falling for Selena again, her daughter has a hold on his heart, and he can’t imagine leaving behind his brothers and sisters once again.

More attached by the day to their charming hometown and families, Selena and Oliver fall in love for the second time.

Has fate brought Chandlerville’s prodigal children together again…this time forever?

•••••••••••••••

Let Me Love You Again is a wonderfully romantic and complete storyline of finding the love of your life as a teenager and losing it due to the immaturity and teen drama that most people face. Then years later and a lot of heartache, recapturing that and more.

Anna DeStefano is a very talented writer who creates a world of characters that are incredibly real and yet can be so very different from each other, much like the people you know in real life. She takes the time to weave an intricate and compelling story, allowing it to develop naturally without rushing it to a hurried conclusion.

This romantic and compelling tale unfolds with the hero Oliver returning home, once a foster child with the Dixon family, he’s now an incredibly in demand computer security specialist. Unfortunately, he hasn’t been home since he left seven years before. He sends lots of money to help his foster parents raise more children in their loving home. He finds the love of his life Selena, back at her home next door with a daughter.

That’s all the setup and spoilers I’m going to do! Except to let you know that the author spins a realistic and exciting tale of small town life. She’s given a wonderful picture of foster parents dedicated to helping kids have the family they so desperately need. Even if things don’t always go well. Sometimes kids get into self-destructive things, even with the best parents.

Oliver and Selena (whose father abandoned her and her mother when she was a child) fell in love, but life got in the way. They both became teenage alcoholics and the consequences were devastating for a good part of both of their lives.

The story centers on their old relationship, the lives they have now and Selena’s daughter. Can they become friends or lovers again? Can they get through all the baggage and hurt? Whose daughter is Selena? There is so much great drama and fantastic self-discovery in this heartfelt story, it’s incredibly hard to put down. It entwines the lives of the many children the Dixons have raised, as well as health issues of the father that bring the family back to help.

It’s very talentedly written and believable, a completely captivating read that will alternately warm, break, then rebuild your heart. Grab lots of tissues, your favorite beverage and settle in for a wonderful ride that will play your heartstrings like a violin.

NOTE FROM THE AUTHOR: Oliver and Selena’s second-chance love is one of the most special things I’ve written. Complex and authentic, timeless and unique to the mistakes they made long ago. They’ve never forgotten each other, no matter how hard they’ve tried. But the power of finding each other again is the truth neither is prepared to faced. And that’s where we pick up their story, experiencing the rush and exhilaration and poignant passion of young love, watching it mature into the kind of a soul-deep connection that can last a lifetime. Take a look…

“You kissed me the other night,” Oliver said. “You agreed to talk things through. Then I don’t hear from you for over twenty-four hours. I’m turning myself inside out, destroying potential business opportunities to stay in Chandlerville for my parents—and for you and Camille now.” Staying for himself. Leaving felt more impossible by the hour. Though everyone, including Selena, knew leaving was what he’d have to do eventually. “Hell, Camille’s already figured out most of it for herself. And I bet you’re still trying to think of a way to talk to her, deal with who her father is, without dealing with whatever it is you’re feeling about me. Meanwhile, we can barely keep our hands off each other whenever we’re alone together.”
Resentment, resignation, and then acceptance rolled across Selena’s features. She smoothed both palms down her thighs, drawing his attention back to her toned, trim body. She looked like she could run for days. But she couldn’t run from them now.
He found himself closer. He reached for her shoulders. He held fast when she went to pull away.
“You don’t distrust me nearly as much as you want to.” It had been a stunning conclusion he’d come to somewhere in the middle of last night, puzzling over why she hadn’t called or texted him back. “And you don’t like it one damn bit.”
“No,” she admitted. “I don’t.”
“You’ve wanted me far away from you from the start,” he said, “not just because of your daughter. This has never been entirely about Camille, has it?”
“Of course not.”
“Because you still feel guilty about things you did seven years ago?” He knew better. But he needed to know she did, too.
Selena shook her head, looking like she despised him for his honesty.
He aligned their bodies until Selena’s heart beat next to his. She was still warm from her run. She was looking up at him, seeing and feeling him. She was soft against him, like she’d been a lifetime ago, like the dreams of her that had come to him ever since.
“Because you wouldn’t have been able to stay away from me whether Camille was involved or not,” he said, “and it terrifies you, what that could mean. There’s something in you for me, Selena Rosenthal. There’s something between us still.”
She agreed silently, as if the words wouldn’t find her.
“And you don’t want to trust me again,” he repeated. “Even if this—you and me—could be a part of making Camille feel safe and happy…”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 30, 2014

Live and work together, or lose everything that matters…

The ultimatum tilts Dru Hampton’s contented life in Chandlerville, Georgia, on its ear. The man that Vivian, her cantankerous boss and benefactor, wants Dru to partner with—live with—is Brad Douglas, who’s let Dru down every way a man can.

Sheriff’s deputy Brad Douglas has come a long way since his rebellious youth. He’s back home to care for Vivian, his ill grandmother. He’s stayed out of Dru’s way all these years to make up for the hurt he once caused her. Now, the delightfully mischievous Vivian’s dying wish is for them to rebuild at least a working relationship together…and she’s betting on them rediscovering much more.

The family business and the Douglas home that Dru and Brad both cherish will be sold if they don’t resolve their differences. Can these childhood sweethearts make up and reclaim each other’s hearts before it’s too late?

••••••••••••••••••••••

Review:

Even though Dru Hampton was raised in the foster system, she lucked out. She was taken in by a loving family and has built a life to be proud of. Her biggest regret has always been Brad Douglas. Brad was her older brother’s best friend, and someone she grew up around. Even though they always treated her like one of the guys, she was head over heels for Brad. Until one night changed everything. Acting on impulse, she let him know of her feelings for him, only to have him push her away. Brad’s actions not only broke Dru’s heart, but tore apart her family and then everything changed. Not only was she broken hearted over Brad’s rejection, but her brother left town, as did Brad. After coming to terms with what had happened, she forged ahead and became someone others looked up to. Especially the kids at the YMCA where she volunteered.

However, when Dru’s benefactor, Vivian, fell ill, it was up to Dru to contact Brad to get him to come home so that Vivian could get her affairs in order. When Brad shows up, he and Dru reconnect, even if only to satisfy Vivian. But, once they hear what Vivian asks of them, Dru doesn’t know if she can see it through. Brad had broken her heart and to say she has trust issues is like saying Lake Superior is a cow pond. Even though she feels that she wouldn’t be where she is today without Vivian, she just doesn’t know if she can put herself out there with Brad again, even if he does seem to be trying to make up for his past sins. And, once Dru figures out that there were things set in motion a long time ago for her benefit, and that things weren’t quite what they seemed, she knows that her life will never be the same.

Here in my Heart is a wonderfully written story about coming to terms with one’s past in order to forge a future. Dru is a strong, albeit a little naïve, character. She is everything you’d want your daughter to be with strong character and a huge loving heart. Brad is wonderful as well. He knows he messed up when he was younger, but has steadily moved forward with his life trying to atone for his past mistakes. The secondary characters are wonderful as well, and I can’t wait to read more about them. This is my first book by Anna DeStefano, but it will not be my last. If you’re looking for a quick read with a wholesome and sweet storyline, this one is for you. I shed a few tears at the end and I can’t wait for the next installment. Well done Anna DeStefano, very well done.

One day can change your life forever…Three days change a painful past into a beautiful tomorrow…

Once, Sam Perry had it all. A loving marriage, an amazing job she adored as a preschool teacher, and a beautiful home. She was safe, happy and secure. Then the unthinkable happened… Watching his once carefree wife withdraw into herself was almost more than Brian Perry could handle. The only thing that kept him going was knowing that he loved her more than life itself. Moving her out of New York to Chandlerville, a small, quiet suburb of Atlanta, felt right. Anything, to get her away from the memories of the buildings, and her world, crashing around her.

Now, two sons and many years later, Sam cherishes the new life on Mimosa Lane that Brian built for them. Until lightning strikes twice… Called a hero by her small community, Sam feels more like a coward than ever. Instinct draws her into an altercation at her children’s school- an instinct that also drives her away from the warm cocoon of her family. Brian refuses to lose his wife again. He agrees to give her the space she asks for, but he soon realizes space isn’t something they and their children can afford. He knows their love can still conquer all. But this time he’ll need their entire community to help him win his wife back.

REVIEW: It’s difficult to know where to begin with this story.  It deals with those who have been through intense trauma events and are suffering from some form of PTSD.  The story is one of intense depression, fear and attempts to try to overcome the trauma, which some do not do well naturally.

So, you have Samantha and Brian Perry, who now live on Mimosa Lane, in Chandlerville, GA. They moved from Manhattan after the tragedy of 9/11.  Samantha was a teacher at a school near ground zero, and the trauma of watching and hearing the towers fall and knowing that many of the parents of the children she was caring for were not going to be picking their children up.  The group had to lead the children out of the danger zone through smoke and ashes off the island to a safe zone where families or surviving members could come to pick up the children.

The beginning starts with a day when Samantha is trying to get enough courage to attend a bake sale at her son’s school.  Apparently something she has not been able to do.  So she’s barely hanging on going through the event and her son is involved in another tragedy where one of his friends shoots another one for bullying him.  Samantha helps out, while trying to save her son.  More months of angst, fear, etc. while she moves out of her house and lives next door with friends, and still makes breakfast for the boys and helps them with their homework, saying Brian needs to work on facing that things are not alright.

This book is not one that I would normally read; it was very difficult for me to get through all the depression, fears and somewhat unrealistic (at least to me) mistakes being made.

Through much blame placing, severe trauma with her son not wanting to face his fears and anger, as well as her own mistakes and Brian’s…it was quite a ride.  There were some tender loving moments and even sex in the park, after which she went back to the neighbor’s house and Brian went home???

Eventually, some things get resolved through a lot of tough work and pain.  If you like reading almost real type of dramas that effect people, this would be a great read for you.  I like to read for entertainment, and this just wasn’t it for me.  But that’s me!

This is entirely my own issue, the piece is well written and cleverly put together and does have a nice ending.  I’m sure it’s a good tribute to those brave souls who went through so much in the wake of the 9/11 tragedy as well as others.
