I’m so glad I had the chance to read and review another Jennifer Shirk novel. I really enjoyed the first one I read by her, and Wrong Brother, Right Match didn’t disappoint.
Wrong Brother, Right Match is a sweet, charming, feel good read filled with much romantic frustration for our hero Matt and heroine Kennedy. Even though the story moves along at a brisk pace, I never felt rushed as I read along. We had the chance to learn who Matt and Kennedy are. We see why Matt feels the way he does about relationships, but can’t stop thinking about the beautiful woman from the Vegas elevator, and how Kennedy truly believes in her computer software for matching the right couples, but is having troubles keeping thoughts about the handsome stranger out of her head since the Vegas incident.
The overall story is heartfelt, and makes you want to root for Matt and Kennedy, but also feel sympathy towards Matt’s brother Justin who’s clueless to the whole situation, not realizing his brother is the guy who kissed his fiancée in a Vegas elevator all those months ago. Ms. Shirk also brings her humour in this one thanks to the situation that Matt and Kennedy are thrown into. They are trying hard to do the right thing, stay out of each other’s way and stop thinking about the other, but Justin is nowhere in site over the Christmas holidays due to his work schedule, and Matt is asked to step in and help keep Kennedy company while he’s away. Yup, fat chance at keeping naughty thoughts about each other at bay. Watching them try and fight their attraction, denying they are slowly developing feelings they shouldn’t be having about each other is quite comical at times, and at other times frustrating. I was kind of hoping Matt’s brother Justin was having an affair so that it would’ve been easier for Matt and Kennedy to justify their growing feelings for each other, and for me to feel less sympathetic towards Justin but, nope, things can’t be that easy for all of them. However, once the truth comes out and everyone is now on the same page, there is a little family drama between Matt and Justin, but in the end, all is forgiven and Justin steps aside and gives Matt the green light to go after Kennedy. Matt and Kennedy get their HEA, and I absolutely loved his proposal to her. It’s a perfect fit to their relationship, and it looks like his brother could possibly be on his way to finding true love with one of Kennedy’s staff members.
If you enjoy propping your feet up by the fire with a glass of wine and settling in to enjoy a good read that’s fun, and will warm your heart, then Wrong Brother, Right Match by Jennifer Shirk is the book for you.
