SINCE I SAW YOU (Because You Are Mine #4) by Beth Kery

ABOUT THE BOOK: May 6, 2014

When enigmatic billionaire Ian Noble sets Lin the task of “taming” his brilliant yet half-savage brother Kam Reardon, she eagerly accepts. She’s more than curious about the solitary genius and everything she’s heard about him. During their electric first meeting, her fascination increases a hundredfold. Kam practically oozes raw sex appeal. Lin is interested…very interested. But does her intense attraction and willingness to go places with him she’s never gone before in the bedroom really have to do with Kam? Or is her carefully hidden desire to blame for wanting a man she knows she can never have?

An elusive outsider, Kam avoids intimacy, yet never shies away from satisfying his erotic appetites. But there’s something different about Lin—a reserve he’s anxious to break. She’s a woman he’s eager to take his time withand possess completely. A sophisticated beauty like her would never want him anywhere but in bed, but he finds himself unable to resist her.

Immediately Lin’s smooth facade is undone by Kam’s overwhelming masculinity and by his irresistible erotic demands—a lesson in subjugation that leaves Lin confused, reeling, and open to things she never thought possible. Now, as the unpredictable nights between them grow darker, Lin and Kam are certain of only one thing: they’re made for each other.

REVIEW: SINCE I SAW YOU is the fourth full length instalment in Beth Kery’s contemporary, erotic, adult romance series-Because You Are Mine. The focus is on Lin Soong (Executive at Noble Enterprises) and Ian Noble’s half brother Kam Reardon to whom we were first introduced in book three-Because We Belong. Kam is a recluse with a brilliant mind who has created the next big thing in medical technology. Lin has been assigned to assist and groom Kam for his visit to the US but along the way she will lose her heart to the man whose public persona is less than kind.

The storyline follows the building of both a professional and personal relationship between Kam and Lin but Kam knows that Lin’s heart has been set on someone else for years. There will never be a chance at a happily ever after for Lin as the man of her dreams has found his soulmate but Kam is hoping to that he will be the one to open Lin’s heart to love someone else. As Lin prepares Kam to meet potential investors, Kam prepares his heart for the eventual fall.

The relationship is quick to build. Kam and Lin are both mature adults who know what they want but Lin’s heart still holds out for the one that got away. Kam, like his half brothers, is a man who likes to experiment in the bedroom and he hopes to draw Lin into a world where Kam is the only man for her.

SINCE I SAW YOU is a sexually graphic storyline with some light BDSM. Beth Kery writes a sensually seductive and romantic storyline where two people will find their perfect match while trying to navigate a business venture in a world of billionaires and executive class snobs.

Several of the previous storyline characters play secondary roles including Ian and Francesca, Lucien and Elise. SINCE I SAW YOU advances the series by approximately nine to ten months and will come full circle with Ian and Francesca’s continuing story.

In Because We Belong Ian and Francesca return to reignite the exquisite passions that drew them together, and to finally face the intimate secrets that threatened to separate them forever. REVIEW: BECAUSE WE BELONG is the third full length instalment in Beth Kery’s Because You Are Mine contemporary, erotic adult series. Kery is known for her ‘serial’ style of writing including the first set in the series ‘Because You Are Mine’. I am not a fan of the serial style novel therefore I was more than pleased that Because We Belong was released as a full-length novel from the outset.

The premise of Because We Belong continues the story of Ian and Francesca who were the focus of the first series Because You Are Mine. Francesca is the young artist hired to paint a scene for billionaire Ian Noble’s lobby and in the ensuing weeks to months, the couple will fall in love but not before the reality of Ian’s lifestyle demands have Francesca reconsidering what her heart really wants. Ian has a dark and kinky side-likes to experiment in the BDSM lifestyle-and hopes to draw Francesca into his life. But Ian also has a secret-one that involves his ailing and mentally ill mother –and the truth of the situation continues in Because We Belong.

There is also a second serial novel When I’m With You’ focusing on Ian’s best friend Lucien and herein lies a bit of a conundrum for me. I did not read this particular instalment and therefore I am not sure how much information was revealed about the relationship between Lucien and Ian that is addressed and continues in Because We Belong. Are you confused? Well, so am I. On to the review.

Ian Noble is missing. Not that he is lost or abducted but no one has heard from Ian (including his now fiancé Francesca) in over six months. The prologue of the story finds Ian hinting at life without Francesca and within a few pages and a fast forward of six months we learn that Ian has packed up and left control of his billion dollar enterprise to Francesca. With a new deal on the horizon, Francesca is pulled into the Noble family dysfunctional dynamics and eventually finds herself the target of a mad man for reasons not yet known. With an invitation to celebrate the upcoming holiday anniversary of Ian’s grandparents (in England), Francesca and the family will finally come face to face with Ian where Francesca is once again targeted-but the who and the why will soon become suspect.

Ian and Francesca’s sexual relationship picks up immediately even though Ian has been missing without any explanation for six months. Their attraction to one another is visceral, almost palpable and yet, Francesca had been destroyed by Ian’s disappearance and subsequent silence. The sex scenes are sensual, hot, disturbing and aggressive. Ian needs Francesca at the basest level to survive, yet his actions of the previous six months leaves Francesca reeling when Ian refuses to tell her why. And to complicate matters, Ian is expected to disappear once again.

As the storyline progresses, more about the family history and Ian’s mother’s illness are revealed. And so much more about Ian’s birth father and family will play a pivotal role in Ian’s disappearance.

Because We Belong is an erotic storyline about a second chance at love; at family; and the realization that not everything and everyone is what or who they claim to be. The family tree reaches beyond what anyone could have imagined and those caught up in the branches are innocent of the father’s sins just as those that are guilty of the family lies. This is a story of jealousy and betrayal; love and hate; heartbreak and sorrow; love and understanding. And about one woman who has stood by her man through everything-good and bad.

Beth Kery pulls the reader into a richly detailed story of one man’s descent into the unknown at the hands of a man he never knew. Kery reveals plenty of background information about the recent history of one family and their fight to save one of their own. And in the end, Francesca’s love for Ian will be the catalyst that allows Ian to begin the long journey to recovery.

BECAUSE YOU ARE MINE-Because You Tempt Me by Beth Kery

BECAUSE YOU TEMPT ME is the first novella in Beth Kery’s 8 part novella “Because You Are Mine” series. Each week beginning July 31, the publisher will release a subsequent novella in the series culminating on September 18 with Because I Am Yours.

Ian Noble is a billionaire Internet mogul. Making his first billion before the age of thirty Ian thought he knew what he wanted. Descended from royalty, he dined with the rich and famous, required order in his life, and a felt the emptiness of being alone. But a piece of art, painted by Francesca Arno called to his very soul. Had she known whom she had painted?

Francesca Arno is a starving artist struggling to finish her master of fine arts degree. But finishing first in the “Far Sight’ art competition would land her commissioned work in one of Chicago’s newest buildings owned by Noble Enterprises and help pay her debts for a very long time. And when Ian Noble suggests she paints the skyline seen from his penthouse window, it is all she can do not to question his motives. She was in way over her head.

Ian kept his distance. Travelling for days at a time, he suddenly had the urge to find Francesca. His thoughts were constantly turning to the beautiful woman with whom he wanted something more. But Ian had a secret-demons that road him hard. And his need to control overrides a desire to love.

Fencing with his friend Lucien, Ian had a secondary outlet for his pent-up frustrations and pain. But the day Francesca walked into his fencing studio, all bets were off, when she agreed to pick up the blade and duel with the billionaire mogul in more ways than one.

BECAUSE YOU ARE MINE-Because You Tempt Me is a very fast read. Basically a couple chapters in length, the novella quickly introduces the two main characters about whom the series will focus. Ian Noble has many secrets and considers himself a reluctant Dom, but at this point in the story we are privy to one ‘sexual’ encounter of a personal nature, and he was definitely the dominant at the time.

With the popularity of Fifty Shades, the similar storylines are flooding the market-the heroes are hiding a secret past and trying to find their way in life. Success and money definitely do not buy happiness or peace of mind. Guilt and shame, acceptance and love are the overriding themes to the premise of these novels. Because You Tempt Me only hints at the potential for such a storyline but the character of Ian is screaming for help without ever considering the consequences of his actions.
