He’s her brooding, off-limits boss. She’s his brother’s newest flame, his innocent young cook…and the weakness he’s craved for years.

I went to Paris to become a chef. I came back with a culinary degree, a killer wardrobe, and no intention of falling for my grumpy, gorgeous boss.
Once, I was the invisible kitchen maid. Now, I’m back at the Lyons estate with new skills, new confidence, and a whole new look (even if I am still a virgin). Guess who finally notices? My childhood crush. And his much older, much grumpier brother.
Lucas Lyons—my boss—is all sharp suits, sharp words, and an even sharper mind.
As CEO of the family empire, he’s used to controlling everything—including employees far too young for him. Employees like me.
Unfortunately, his brother’s interest in me is throwing a wrench in his carefully laid plans for the company, his family, and his perfectly predictable life.
But I see the way Lucas looks at me when he thinks I’m not watching. Like he’s fighting something he really doesn’t want to feel. The more time we spend together, the harder it is to ignore how much I like him—more than I ever meant to.
.I came back to chase a dream.
But the grumpy boss trying to keep me from it? He might the real fairytale after all.

REVIEW: BOSS OF THE YEAR is the second instalment in Nicole French’s contemporary, adult BELMONT BILLIONAIRES erotic, romance series set in the author’s interconnected story lines including THE ROSE GOLD series, THE SILVER SPOON series, and THIEF OF MY HEART, all focusing on Marie’s siblings. This is forty-one year old, CEO and billionaire businessman Lucas Lyons, and twenty-five year old, professional chef Marie Zola’s story line. BOSS OF THE YEAR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines and series is revealed where necessary.

Told from first person perspective( Marie) and third person (Lucas) BOSS OF THE YEAR follows the building but struggling relationship between our story line couple. Marie Zola started working for the Lyons family at fifteen years of age, and became a virtual shadow to the ins and outs of the Lyon’s family. Following a year in Paris at the Lyon’s family expense, Marie returns more mature and beautiful, a successful chef, and the romantic target of half-brothers Lucas and Daniel Lyons but our heroine only has eyes for the bad boy Daniel, the man who has starred in her fantasies and dreams for as long as she can remember. An offer from Lucas to travel abroad as his personal chef finds our heroine journeying towards a future but a different future than she could have ever possibly imagined.

BOSS OF THE YEAR is akin to the movie Sabrina™ ; a young woman returns from Paris, different yet the same, and the brothers take notice. The world building follows Marie and Lucas as they quickly develop a friendship that turns into something more but when Lucas’ secrets are revealed, and Marie discovers the truth, our heroine runs without looking back.

The relationship between Lucas and Marie begins as one of mutual attraction but Lucas is Marie’s boss, and our heroine struggles with her place in Lucas’ life, as she continues to pine after Daniel Lyons. Lucas is determined to seduce our heroine as he embarks on a trip overseas but all is not as it appears to be., and our heroine with pay the price with her heart and her soul. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, dynamic, familiar, interesting and sometimes questionable secondary and supporting characters include the return of Marie’s siblings from the aforementioned interconnected series and stories. We are introduced to Lucas’s step mother Winnifred, his father Clifford and promiscuous half brother Daniel, who is all about the next female conquest, chef Ondine, as well as several of Marie’s supportive and fun friends she met previously in Paris.

BOSS OF THE YEAR is a story of secrets and lies, betrayal, power and control, family and friendships, relationships and love. The character driven premise is emotional, heart breaking and captivating; the age-gap romance is seductive; the characters are determined, desperate, and charismatic yet Lucas’ actions are debatable, dubious and problematic as it pertains to our story line heroine.

When not writing fiction or teaching writing classes, she is hanging out with her family, playing soccer with the rest of the thirty-plus crowd in Seattle, or going on dates with her husband. In her spare time, she likes to go running with her dog, Greta, or practice the piano, but never seems to do either one of these things as much as she should.

He’s a grumpy billionaire in need of a fake girlfriend.
She’s a spicy heroine just desperate enough to do it.

Nathan Hunt needs a girlfriend—specifically a fake one.
Yes, the shy, grumpy twin of Henry Cavill who sits at the end of my bar needs to convince his absurdly rich family that he’s capable of a normal social life.
And he’s willing to pay a professional to fill that role.
Who happens to be me.

It helps that I’m just desperate enough to need the cash and not ask any questions.
I’m the obvious choice: Joni Zola, former dancer and forever flirt.
Never too serious. Always a good time.

On its surface, the plan is simple.
First, tell everyone we’re roommates.
Then move on to lovers.
His family will leave him alone, and I’ll have a free place to stay and a full bank account.
Easy, right?

But as our scheme progresses, the lines blur.
Soon casual PDA turns into sharing a bed at night.
On the outside, Nathan Hunt is just my next boyfriend of the hour.
But what if secretly, I might want him forever?

If we can keep things professional, this just might work.
I can forget that kiss if he can.

REVIEW: BOYFRIEND OF THE HOUR by Nicole French is a contemporary, adult, erotic, romance story line set in the author’s Belmont Billionaires world. This is thirty-four year old plastic surgeon Nathan Hunt, and twenty-four year old bartender/ dancer Giovanna ‘Joni’ Zola’s story line. BOYFRIEND OF THE HOUR can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Several characters cross over from a number of the author’s interconnected story lines including THE ROSE GOLD series, THE SILVER SPOON series, and THIEF OF MY HEART, all focusing on Joni’s siblings.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from first person perspective (Joni), and third person (Nathan) BOYFRIEND OF THE HOUR follows several paths including the building relationship between our story line couple. Dr. Nathan Hunt is a plastic surgeon who struggles with his attraction to our story line heroine but all is not well in Nathan’s world, and our hero’s past is vying for control. Meanwhile Joni Zola is the proverbial ‘black sheep’ of the Zola family, a woman who just wants to be loved. Raised by her grandmother, and rebuffed by her siblings, Joni has been left floundering in the wake of her own emotional turmoil. Meeting Nathan Hunt pulls Joni into a world she knows nothing about when she becomes Nathan’s fake girlfriend, and the fall-out is about to send her life spiralling out of control.

The world and character building follow several complicated and idiosyncratic personality traits for both of our story line characters, traits that affect their lives, their emotions, and their concept of the world around them. The individual dysfunctionality and that of each family, has worked to form embittered, emotional and embattled individuals just looking for acceptance and love, but find nothing heartache and condemnation in return. As the story line progresses, we are witness to the fall-out of years of emotional abuse and control, such that the psychological ramifications have now become a permanent part of the individual psyche. Where one will act out, chasing the next proverbial high, the other is willing to remain hidden and secluded, away from anyone who will ever take notice.

The relationship between Nathan and Joni follows several stages from professional, to friendships, to necessity to fake to love. Nathan needs a plus-one, a fake girlfriend to keep his family at bay, and Joni has nothing but willing to accept Nathan’s help in return. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate.

There is a large ensemble cast of family, colorful and charismatic secondary and supporting characters many of whom we have met in the author’s previous interconnected series including Joni’s siblings. We are introduced to Joni’s ex Shawn, her boss Mike, as well as Ethan’s brothers Carrick and Spencer, and their parents Radford and Lillian Hunt. The requisite evil has many faces. Not everyone will survive.

BOYFRIEND OF THE HOUR is a detailed, complex and dramatic story of secrets and lies, power and control, dysfunctional family dynamics, acceptance and love. The premise is tragic and startling; the romance is subtle; the characters are different, desperate and dynamic.
