ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 7, 2023

In a moment of weakness I sent out a cry for help—one that was answered by my estranged brother’s right-hand man.
A murderer.
A butcher.
He storms into my life with his expensive suit pockets full of sedatives and cable ties in case I don’t approve of his form of protection.
Let me assure you, I don’t.
But when my world falls apart and I have nowhere else to go, I’m forced to escape with him.
To an isolated house.
Just me and him.
Alone.
And it quickly becomes clear that the monstrous people I’ve been afraid of are nothing in comparison to the man in the room next door to mine.

REVIEW:BISHOP is the ninth instalment in Eden Summers contemporary, adult HUNTING HER dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is Bishop aka The Butcher, and Abri Costa’s story line. BISHOP can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bishop and Abri) BISHOP follows the building but acrimonious relationship between Bishop and Abri. Bishop is the right hand man to Abri’s eldest brother Matthew Langston, and collectively the pair were once known as the Butchers of Baltimore but Matthew and his brothers are about to embark on a mission of murder and vengeance, and Bishop has been tasked with protecting our story line heroine, a protection of which Abri wants nothing to do. Abri Costa has been forcibly working for her parents Emmanuel and Adena for as long as she can remember, and this night, Bishop is about to curtail and effectively stop all of Abri’s assignments including the one in progress but Abri is desperate to complete her mission, a desperation that Bishop finds disturbing and wrong. Keeping Abri a virtual prisoner means learning the truth about a woman who is spiralling out of control but a woman desperate enough to risk her own life for the lives of the people she loves. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Abri and Bishop, and the potential fall-out as their time together has an expiry date, and Bishop walks away without looking back.

The world building continues to focus on the crime world of the Langston/Costa family. Matthew, and his brothers Remy and Salvator have implemented a plan to take down the man in charge in doing so, Abri’s inability to get the job one threatens someone close to her heart.

The relationship between Abri and Bishop begins as an assignment. Abri refuses to remain Bishop captive but Bishop suspects there is more to Abri’s story than he could have ever imagined. Bishop struggles to remain neutral in the face of his attraction to Abri but the heart wants something it shouldn’t. Giving into temptation not only threatens Bishop but our heroine as well. Threats against Abri means Bishop will take matters into his own hand, continually earning our hero the moniker of The Butcher. The $ex scenes are passionate and aggressive but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word.

The secondary and supporting characters are dangerous, powerful and psychopathic in nature including Abri’s mother Adena, a mother with questionable parenting skills, as well as her mother’s driver Aaron Geppte. We are reintroduced to Abri’s Uncle Lorenzo, brothers Matthew & Layla Langston (Seeking Vengeance / Ruthless Redemption/Hunting Her 7 & 8), Salvatore and Remy Costa. The requisite evil has many evils.

BISHOP is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, murder and blackmail, dysfunctional family and relationships, acceptance, forgiveness and love. The character driven premise is gritty, complex, detailed and heart breaking; the romance is emotional and intense; the characters are broken, captivating, determined and desperate.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date July 6, 2023

In the grand scheme of things five years isn’t a very long time.
It goes by in a blink, literally.
Waking up with no recollection of the last five years is devastating.
The woman I remember loving is with someone else.
The only family I had is gone, and I’m forced to relive those losses all over again.
I’m now a member of Cerberus, and I can’t even recall if I signed on to get Rivet back or if I got over her before joining.
I have no other choice but to cling to the woman hired to help me recover because she’s the only one that knows less about me than I do.
I was afraid of never getting my memory back, but the closer I get to her makes me terrified of what will happen if I do.

REVIEW:BISHOP is the twenty-seventh instalment in Marie James’ contemporary, adult CERBERUS MC erotic, MC romance series focusing on the members of the Cerberus MC- all former members of the US Marines. This is Brent ‘Bishop’ Porter, and nurses aide/single mother Sunshine Holt’s story line. BISHOP can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading UGLY book twenty-six for Bishop’s back story.

NOTE: If you have not read UGLY, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Bishop and Sunshine) BISHOP follows in the aftermath of the attack by a serial killer against the Detective Lennox Maison (UGLY 26), leaving Brent ‘Bishop’ Porter fighting for his life. Approximately one month earlier, Bishop was working security when Lennox Maison was attacked, and our hero is in recovery at a local extended care home. In an effort to always keep someone on duty, the Cerberus MC hires nurses aide Sunshine Holt, a young woman whose own life is slowly imploding. Awakening from thirty days in a coma, Bishop has no memories from the previous five years but finds himself attracted to the familiarity of our story line heroine. Upon his release, Bishop continues to recover with the help of Sunshine Holt, the woman with whom Bishop will fall in love but all is not well in Sunshine’s life, when Bishop discovers our heroine is keeping a secret, he knows nothing about.

The world building focuses on Brent ‘Bishop’ Porter’s recovery, and regaining the memories of the previous five years. Struggling to understand the loss of the past, and to understand the memories of the present that no longer exist, Bishop finds himself falling for Sunshine Holt, the woman with a past that refuses to let go.

The relationship between Sunshine and Bishop begins as a job when Sunshine is hired to care for our story line hero. Throughout his recovery, Sunshine talks to Bishop about her life, a life Bishop begins to believe is part of his own. As Bishop’s health improves, Sunshine begins to believe she is no longer needed by the man with whom she is falling in love. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the Cerberus MC including Legend and Faith, MC president Kincaid; Sunshine’s ex Travis, and her co-worker Rachel, as well as Bishop’s ex Angeline aka Rivet. All of the members of the Cerberus MC work together to help in Bishop’s recovery, and Sunshine’s ability to move on from her past.

BISHOP is a story of recovery, understanding and acceptance, addiction and trauma, family, friendships, relationships and love. The fast paced premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are dynamic, determined, struggling but surviving.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 14, 2018

Meet the Arizona Vengeance, hockey’s hottest new team. They’re burning up the ice—until a one-night-stand with the coach’s daughter freezes one player in his skates.

Bishop Scott, co-captain. Not too shabby, huh? It’s all part of my fresh start with the NHL’s latest expansion team, and that means new teammates, a new coach, a new city, and a big new contract. Basically, I cannot f***ing wait to show my old squad what they’re missing.

But first, I decide to check out the town before the grind begins. Turns out Arizona chicks are totally smokin’, and I’m fortunate enough to meet one who’s looking for the same thing I am: a night of anonymous, unforgettable, no-strings-attached sex.

Fast forward to the Vengeance arena. It’s the last place I expect to see her again—let alone in her own office. Then bells go off and I finally realize who this girl is: Brooke Perron. My new coach’s daughter. All of a sudden, we’re picking up right where we left off, which means our hands are all over each other. That’s when her dad—my boss—walks in. And before I can get a word out, Brooke’s introducing me as her fiancé.

Sure, she just saved my ass. So why do I get the feeling Brooke’s going to turn my world upside down? Maybe it’s because this fake relationship feels way too real.

REVIEW:  BISHOP is the first instalment in Sawyer Bennett’s contemporary, adult ARIZONA VENGEANCE erotic, hockey, romance series focusing on the men and women of the professional hockey team the Arizona Vengeance. This is twenty-eight year old, Arizona Vengeance co-captain Bishop Scott, and team merchandising director Brooke Perron’s story line. The Arizona Vengeance is a spin-off from the author’s Carolina Cold Fury Hockey series.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Brooke and Bishop) BISHOP follows the fake relationship between Arizona Vengeance co-captain Bishop Scott, and team merchandising director Brooke Perron. The Arizona Vengeance is the NHL’s newest expansion hockey team, and one of their brightest new stars partakes of a one-night stand that quickly develops into something more. Bishop Scott will come face to face with his coach’s daughter, Brooke Perron but getting caught in a compromising position finds Brooke blurting out that she and Bishop were in it for the long haul. What ensues is the fake relationship between Brooke and Bishop, and the potential fall-out as a vindictive woman tries to destroy them all.

Brooke Perron, hoping to save Bishop from her father’s wrath reveals to Coach Perron that she and Bishop had been secretly dating, and were recently engaged to be married. Hoping to keep the ruse up for a little while longer, Brooke and Bishop reveal to a few close friends the truth about the entire situation but betrayal comes at a cost to the Arizona franchise.

The relationship between Brooke and Bishop begins as a one-night stand that quickly morphs into something more-from friendship to the reality of falling in love, Brooke and Bishop find themselves looking towards a future but a future that will hit a road bump when vengeance turns ugly, directed at everyone concerned. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and passionate; the sexual tension is palpable without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to a large number of colorful and animated characters including Brooke’s widowed father and team coach David Perron; Bishop’s mother Marianne; and Brooke’s former co-worker Nanette; as well as the players for the Arizona Vengeance: GM Christian Rutherford, Team captain Tacker Hall, Dax Monahan, Erik Dalhbeck, and Legend Bay.

BISHOP is a flirty, fun but predictable story line that is following a similar pattern to her previous series. The premise is engaging; the romance is hot and steamy; the characters are dynamic and charismatic. BISHOP is an intimate look at two people caught between the truth and a lie that continues to snowball out of control.
