Description:
It’s not the heat…it’s the pixie dust.

The day her brother died, Gwendolyn Moonsoar fled from her veil of pixies. Grief drove her away, but a broken heart made her stay gone for good. Lucky for Gwen, Brimstone Inc. was there to break her fall. Now, as a special courier transporting the most valuable and dangerous items of the supernatural world, Gwen is good at her job. Damn good. After all, disappearing is her specialty.

Dragon shifter Asher Kato will always be haunted by his best friend Goran’s death. Although a promise he made gave him no choice, Asher will never forgive himself for the role he played…or the fallout it caused with Goran’s younger sister, Gwen. Burying himself in his role as second-in-command of the blue dragons is his only escape. Unfortunately, the peace they fought so hard for isn’t meant for a warrior like him. So, when a courier transporting a rare basilisk egg goes missing, Asher volunteers to track her down.

Except Asher’s mission leads him straight into the arms of the one pixie who would rather vanish forever than spend a single second with him…

Review:

An Accident Waiting to Dragon by Abigail Owen is the 3rd book in her Brimstone Inc. series. I’ve read most of this authors works. And I’m slowly reading her older books. But I couldn’t download this fast enough. I loved her Brimstone Inc. series and devoured both her Fire’s Edge and Rising Inferno series. You don’t have to read the three previous series to enjoy this one, but for fans it’s a great addition, and for new readers to her books it will have to wanting to read the backlog 😉

So…..

Asher is second in command to the blue dragon King Ladon (Ladon, who we met in his book The Blood King) he is a dragon of action and all this sitting around is making him and his dragon restless.

Gwen is a Moonlight Pixie (but no ordinary one, she can transport rare, dangerous and hard to obtain objects to the Green Dragon Queen’s kingdoms.) So this new task is just right for her.

These two have a previous relationship, they’ve known each other for years (Asher’s best friend was Gwen’s brother) but an unfortunate incident split the friends apart…Asher didn’t think he would see Gwen again, after the death of her brother (by Asher’s own dragon fire!) Gwen avoided him and then fled her home and world!

Gwen has no idea what she was flying into with her latest mission, but she would complete it as was her reputation on the line… And when Asher is sent on a mission to rescue her, his dragon makes it clear it wants Gwen(I think they must have meant a little more than friends to each other as Gwen is resistant to Asher and his rescue attempt!)

As always this author has you on the edge of your seat. The action is fast paced and full of drama. The world in which this is based is rich in description and the authors imagination is a thing of wonder and beauty.

So can Asher convince Gwen that he only wants to help? Can Gwen move past the fact the friend she knew from her childhood has grown into an honourable dragon and the past was something he couldn’t change?  And when Asher tries to do the right thing, will Gwen run again, or will she stay by his side to fight?

Another highly recommended read from me. Give it a go if you love this author/dragons/action and adventure. You won’t be sorry.

Description:
Alasdair Blakesley is the head of the Covens Syndicate. He shouldn’t need to look beyond the witches and warlocks he governs, or his own abilities, to solve any problem. But a demon infestation means he can’t trust anyone who may be possessed. The last person he wants to ask for help is also the only person who can fix this, so he sucks up his pride and storms into her office.

And she turns him down cold.

As the owner of Brimstone Inc., Delilah’s passion is helping others with their supernatural problems. But Alasdair is the last man Delilah wants to tangle with. The infuriating man sees too much and demands even more. And did she mention the way he sets her body on fire?

Not that it matters—demons are the only things with which she cannot interfere. Too bad a higher power steps in and sends them both on a crash course of each others’ pasts, presents, and futures.

How is a Christmas Carol nightmare supposed to solve his demon problem without breaking the rules she’s bound by?

Reading Order:
Brimstone Inc Series

Book 1 The Demigod Complex
Book 2 Shift Out of Luck
Book 3 Bait N’ Witch
Book 4 Try as I Smite

Review:

Try as I Smite by Abigail Owen is the 4th book in her Brimstone INC series. I’ve read many of the books written by this author, but only one in this series. (Bait N’ Witch).  You don’t need to read the others, they are only loosely connected via the characters, but not vital to read.

Alasdair Blakesley is leader of the Coven Syndicate, he monitors all the witches and warlocks. We meet him briefly in the last book, but you don’t need to read them to know what’s going on in this book.

We’ve also met Delilah in the previous book, she owns Brimstone Inc (it’s like a dating agency amongst other things) she’s a Seer, she uses her powers to help people and the supernatural to find love and solve problems) But Alasdair is a blank, she can’t see his future, and that scares her a little!

Alasdair and Delilah have met on numerous occasions, and it’s usually a battle of words and wills, but today Alasdair needs help from the woman that haunts his nights!  But he needs help sorting the demon possession troubles out, too many accounts are being reported, as much as it pains him, Delilah is his only hope!

But they aren’t a fan of one another, he thinks she’s an interfering busy boy, Delilah thinks he’s a pompous and overbearing warlock, but he is rather easy on the eye! But she can’t help him with the demon possessions, no matter what he threatens! It took a lot for Alasdair to ask that Seer for her help, and to say no!! But there is a reason why she can’t help, but she can’t tell anyone why! And she feels Alasdair’s frustration. She tries to tell him of another person who could help…..

I loved Delilah she loved winding up Alasdair, and I have to admit it was fun to read. I can now see why both Delilah and Alasdair aren’t a fan of Christmas…..Alasdair was a little aloof, but with good intentions, he’s head of the coven for a reason, sympathetic but sensible, and his control is legendary.

It’s a fun seasonal read, loved how the characters are lead through their pasts to see how connected they are. There are a few twists in the book that did have me reading the sentence again. Delilah and Alasdair are so suited for one another, her free spirit and generous nature would balance his control and dominance perfectly. But when Delilah’s past is fully explained, will Alasdair listen? The Coven needs him, but he needs her!! Could it get anymore tangled?

I would have loved this to have been longer, but the story is told within the confines of a short story. Nothing is rushed, nothing is overlooked, details are given and explanations are fully met. Well written, with the descriptions coming alive on the page. A little sexy time thrown in for good measure.

So…. can Alasdair and Delilah contain or remove the threat of demon possession on a huge scale? At one point I’d would have said it was a huge task, at the end….. nope, not telling you, I’d rather you pick the book up and find out for yourself. Bah humbug ?

Bait N Witch by Abigail Owen – a Review

Bait N Witch by Abigail Owen – a Review

Description:
Rowan McAuliffe has been hiding most of her life. Secretly trained in her powers by an unusual source, she’d been taught not to trust anyone. Especially other witches. However, after she was forced to perform a hateful act against her will, she now hides from the Covens Syndicate and their judgement.

Greyson Masters is the Syndicate’s best hunter. On top of the danger of his job, Greyson is trying to raise his triplet daughters alone, budding new witches who display an alarming combined power no one understands. Too bad he doesn’t have a clue how to deal with them. Until Rowan walks in and the chaos settles for the first time in…well, ever. Little does Greyson realize that his new nanny is the very witch he is hunting, and she’s been hiding right under his nose this whole time.

Review:

Bait N Witch by Abigail Owen is the 3rd book in her Brimstone Inc series. Greyson is a powerful mage, he works for the Covens Syndicate (it’s like a witches and warlocks council.) Basically finding witches or warlocks that break the rules set by the council. He either brings them in for judicial system to sort, or he can dispense justice there and then.

Rowan is a witch on the run, after being held against her will and made to do evil things, she escaped. But she always has her eye on the road, she can’t stay long. The nanny job is a great way to hideout until her trail has gone cold.

I liked this book. You could probably read without reading the previous books, I did, but I felt I was missing things. So I may have to go back and start at the beginning. Well written, very descriptive.  I sense there is more to Rowan than just a simple witch (do previous books give us more?) am I right? Read it and find out?

Grayson has pre-teen triplet daughters, his wife died in childbirth, so a succession of nannies have tried to help him. But his daughters aren’t having any of it, they don’t need a nanny (so reminds me of the film “The Sound of Music”)  and try to cause trouble for Rowan at every turn. But slowly she wins them over, she treats them like young adults rather than little children. Grayson also has a hard time with his daughters, he’s not sure how to relate to them, and when they ask about their mother, what does he say?

Rowan knows what it’s like to lose someone, her parents were killed in an accident, the woman/demon/witch who looked after and cared for her like a daughter was killed by the werewolf that took her. So Rowan can’t get attached to the teens, and certainly not the dad!!

The attraction between Grayson and Rowan was fun to read, the lust was practically instant, the trust comes later, (along with a few scorching kisses) but with both of them hiding secrets from one another, how long will it be before secrets coming tumbling out?

And how will the witch hunter react when the witch he’s hunting is right under his nose?
