Firefighter Reggie Morgan is done with love, done with relationships, and done with complications. The girl and the puppy are a handful, but the girl’s mother, Maggie might just be the woman to melt Reggie’s icy heart. Reggie has loved and lost before and the pain nearly broke him. REVIEW: HOT FOR YOU is the third instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult TURN UP THE HEAT erotic, firefighter, romance series. This is thirty-three year old, former US Navy Sonar Tech, and firefighter Reggie Morgan, and twenty-nine year old, primary school teacher/divorcee/single parent Maggie Swanson’s story line. HOT FOR YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives HOT FOR YOU follows the building romance and interracial relationship between firefighter Reggie Morgan, and primary school teacher Maggie Swanson. Called to the scene of a hit and run, Reggie Morgan finds himself falling for the victim, single mother Maggie Swanson. Having previously met Maggie’s precocious, six year old daughter at a children’s firefighter event, Reggie felt a kinship towards our story line heroine but Reggie has always had a need to help, to fix someone broken, and in this, Reggie believes Maggie is ripe for the picking. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Maggie and Reggie, and the potential fall-out as Reggie’s past retains control of our story line hero.

Maggie Swanson is a feisty, independent, strong willed, sexual woman who refuses to be anyone’s victim. Meeting firefighter Reggie Morgan stirs something deep within our story line heroine, something Maggie long thought buried and gone but Maggie’s first priority is her six year old daughter Emily, a young child who has stolen the heart of our story line hero. Reggie Morgan has loved and lost, and in this, Reggie struggles to move on from the past. Seeing a second chance with Maggie Swanson, Reggie begins a slow seduction of the woman with whom he will fall in love, a woman whose need for Reggie is outmatched by Reggie’s want to be needed by Maggie Swanson.

The relationship between Reggie and Maggie is one of immediate attraction but Reggie struggles with demons from the past. Maggie is a highly sexual woman who knows what she wants in the bedroom, and isn’t afraid to talk dirty when the situation arises. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary characters are flirty and fun-what comes out of the mouth of six year old Emily is priceless. We are reintroduced to Reggie’s fellow firefighters and EMTs: Brad Battle (Make Me Burn), Tex McGovern (Burning Desire), Mack, Hernandez and Washkowski; Reggie’s sisters Lisa and Nadia, and their father Harry Morgan; Maggie’s neighbors and Emily’s pseudo uncles Doug and Benny, as well as Maggie’s ex Stephen, their daughter Emily, and Reggie’s ex Amy.

HOT FOR YOU is a story of family, friendships, relationships and love; a story of betrayal, need and obsession; of love and acceptance. The premise is entertaining and engaging –the world building is detailed but I found myself skipping over what I thought were unimportant details like several paragraphs/pages of 80s movies and pop culture references; the romance is provocative; the characters are energetic and dynamic. HOT FOR YOU is another wonderful instalment in Marie Harte’s TURN UP THE HEAT sexy, firefighter series.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Firefighter Tex McGovern struck out with Bree Gilchrist the first time. And the second. And the third… He should probably just stay away. After all, Bree’s father is his boss, and pursuing her goes against the firefighter brotherhood. No matter how much he desires her, Bree is off limits. Period. But as things start to heat up between them, Tex decides some codes are meant to be broken…

Bree distrusts Tex. The displaced cowboy-turned-rescue-worker is too wild and wicked for his own good. Then she sees him helping people with no thought to himself, and she can’t help wondering what could be if she were suddenly his. But her father will not have his daughter dating a firefighter, and he can break Tex’s career. That’s a heavy burden to place on anyone, and Tex and Bree are forced to decide if the sparks between them are enough to risk the fallout to them both.

REVIEW BURNING DESIRE is the second instalment in Marie Harte’s contemporary, adult TURN UP THE HEAT erotic, romance series focusing on a group of first responders in the Seattle Fire Department. This is twenty-nine year old, former US Marine turned Seattle firefighter Roger ‘Tex’ McGovern, and twenty-seven year old, photographer Bree Gilchrist’s story line. BURNING DESIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary.

Told from several third person perspectives including Tex and Bree, BURNING DESIRE follows the building but forbidden romance and relationship between twenty-nine year old, former US Marine turned Seattle firefighter Roger ‘Tex’ McGovern, and twenty-seven year old, photographer Bree Gilchrist. After three disastrous attempts to date Bree Gilchrist, firefighter Roger ‘Tex’ McGovern has been assigned as Bree’s tour director while our heroine photographs the firefighters at rest and on the job but Tex has been forewarned by Bree’s father, the Seattle battalion chief, that to mess with his daughter could mean the end of his job. Trying to keep their distance was a complete and utter failure but falling for one another would prove to be the hardest secret of all. What ensues is the forbidden romance and relationship between Breen and Tex, and the potential fall-out when Bree’s father discovers what has been going on behind his back.

Tex McGovern has been trying to ‘woo’ our heroine for several months but every attempt is met with disaster and failure. ‘Assigned’ to tag along with our story line heroine, Tex sees his chance to seduce Bree Gilchrist until orders from above threaten his job with the Seattle FD. Bree Gilchrist is an award winning photographer whose father is unable to cut the chord. Threatening our hero with the loss of his job means Chief Gilchrist is about to face the wrath of his daughter but not before facing the wrath of his own man.

Throughout the story line we are introduced to Bree’s step-sister Melissa, and her step-mother Charlie, as well as her best friend and attorney Carrie. Melissa and Bree’s relationship is slowly spiralling out of control, and when Carrie interferes, Bree may not only lose her sister, but her best friend as well.

The relationship between Bree and Tex begins acrimoniously as one disaster after another befalls their attempts to get to know one another. Tex is determined to claim Bree as his own but Bree struggles with her father’s threats, threats that may destroy the man that she loves. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters include shift lieutenant Ed O’Brien, battalion chief John Gilchrist, EMT Brad Battle and Avery (Make Me Burn 1), Reggie, Air Force Mack, Hernandez, Washkowski, Marcus, as well as Tex’s brother Wyatt, and his cousin Josh.

BURNING DESIRE is a story of power and control, family and relationships, acceptance and love. The premise is edgy; the sexual tension is palpable-the chemistry is hot; the characters are animated and feisty.

The First Novel in G.L. Ross’s Sexy “Flyboy” Trilogy:

Captain Lance Miller has dreamt about his green eyed goddess for twenty years and has almost given up any hope of finding her, of course that hasn’t prevented him from being the biggest playboy flying with International Air, that is until he meets new hire Flight Attendant Lisa Price. The gorgeous, virginal blond is physically attracted to the tall, dark, Air Force pilot, but his egotistical, manwhore tendencies shock and frighten her naïve religious upbringing. Despite a series of turbulent starts the pair cannot deny the passion sizzling between them, and once their relationship takes off, Lance cannot get enough of his curvy goddess, whereas Lisa is terrified of the consequences if she admits her feelings for Lance, so she keeps her cards close to her chest.

Turbulent Passion is a sexy, steamy love story, with a touch of BDSM. Lance and Lisa’s love story introduces the reader to: Texas and the great city of Austin, country music, Tex-Mex food, male dominance, redemption, Air Force camaraderie, along with an ending which leaves the reader eager for book two of the Flyboy Trilogy.

•••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: TURBULENT PASSION is the first storyline in G.L. Ross’s adult, contemporary, erotic Flyboy Trilogy. This is airline pilot Captain Lance Miller and Flight Attendant/psychologist Lisa Price’s storyline.

Told from two distinct first persons POV (Lisa and Lance) Turbulent Passion follows the building relationship between Lisa and Lance. Lance is off limits as far as Lisa is concerned. With his reputation as a love’em and leave’em flyboy, one night stand sort of man, Lance is the epitome of a manwhore. But for all her protestations, Lisa is drawn to Lance. His beauty, his powerful build and his vibrant personality all call to Lisa’s heart. The only problem is that Lisa is an inexperienced virgin who has been holding out for her wedding night.

Part of the premise of the story is Lance’s twenty plus years of dreaming about a green eyed goddess. Everywhere he looks, he searches for the woman who haunts both his days and his nights. When he spots Lisa at the airport, he knows he has found his soul mate and pursue her with dogged determination.

The sexual tension between Lance and Lisa is palpable. Their attraction to one another is immediate but Lisa has a difficult time accepting Lance’s past. As Lisa endeavors to see other men, Lance waits impatiently for Lisa to acknowledge their mutual attraction. As the storyline builds, so too does their emotional and sexual relationship. From adversaries to friends to lovers, Lisa and Lance will begin to fall in love but life has a way of destroying everything that was meant to be. The sex scenes are provocative, entertaining and arousing.

The secondary characters include several of Lisa and Lance’s fellow co-workers including pilots, flight attendants and airline employees. The world building is awash with airline terminology, on board flight rituals and a behind the scenes look at what pilots and flight attendants do in their down time.

There are several instances where the author uses character ‘aside comments’ or ‘inner dialogue’ in the text; expressing themselves in relation to something that has happened or has been said. This particular literary device was a bit of a distraction to the overall enjoyment of the story.

I did have some concern about the ‘inexperienced virgin’ premise as the author played the Christianity/religious card quite often in the early stages of the storyline. And as for the inexperienced virgin, all it took was one night of sex and our heroine could compete with the most experienced of lovers. Not quite believable but it is, after all, a story of fiction.

TURBULENT PASSION is a provocative storyline about two completely different people whose attraction to one another is intense and electric. There is a slight touch of BDSM (as the blurb explained) but it is secondary to the storyline and almost inconsequential to the overall premise. The storyline ends on a major cliffhanger, so beware, Turbulent Passion is the first in the series and ends with a heartbreaking and staggering final chapter.

REVIEW: BURNING DESIRE is the second instalment in G.L. Ross’s adult, contemporary, erotic romance Flyboy Trilogy focusing on the continuing relationship between airline captain Lance Miller and flight attendant Lisa Price. Burning Desire is not a stand alone novel and therefore the series must be read in order.

Told from several first person points of view, BURNING DESIRE picks up immediately on the cliffhanger from book one Turbulent Passion. Trying to avoid spoilers is difficult because Burning Desire’s entire premise focuses on the aftermath of a plane crash that has left our couple trying to recapture their love and their feelings for one another but it is difficult when there is nothing but the present. Lisa’s personality has been dramatically altered and in this, her character is, at times, difficult to like. Lance is determined to prove to Lisa that she is the love of his life but Lisa is determined to prove that she needs no one but herself. She doesn’t like Lance’s over protective nature and his need to control leaves something to be desired.

BURNING DESIRE focuses more on Lance and Lisa’s relationship. The secondary characters include Lisa’s parents, a few of their fellow co-workers as well as some new introductions to the storyline. The world building continues with the investigation into the crash and the after affects of a devastating loss.

If you are a fan of FSOG you will see many similarities between the Flyboy Trilogy and the number one best selling series. The Flyboy Series is about a man who loves a woman beyond reason but there are setbacks, anxious moments and a near loss of life that add to an already tumultuous relationship. And when the past comes roaring back, we will find Lisa and Lance facing another possible setback and loss. G.L. Ross takes the reader on a roller coaster of emotional highs and lows, as one couple struggles to overcome both the present and the past.

Burning Desire 1-4

BURNING DESIRE -the complete storyline- will be released September 30, 2014

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / Amazon.uk/ Barnes and Noble / KOBO / The Book Depository

Reviewing a storyline in serial format is difficult without giving away too many spoilers or sounding repetitive with each instalment. As the storyline builds, each episode reveals a little bit more information as well as the continued growth of the hero and heroine-their relationship and their love. And because each portion, in and of itself, is not a complete storyline it is difficult at times to be selective with the information passed along.

Because BURNING DESIRE continues the Dragon Kings storylines, the series should be read in order. Most of the characters from the previous storylines, and the original series and spinoff play a secondary role throughout. The Dark Kings is a spinoff from Donna’s Dark Warrior series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s Dark Sword series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. Each novella is approximately 70-75 pages in length.

BURNING DESIRE Part I by Grace M. DeLeesie

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 2014

Seattle Detective Christopher Fury is about to have his life turned upside down. In a world where creatures known as Interdimensional Species, or IS, are discriminated against and treated like they are worth less than the dirt humans walk on, the half-fae detective must hide his bloodline so he can continue to have the resources of the Seattle police department available to him to hunt down his father’s murderer. But when Chris stumbles across his fire-pixie mate, how can he turn against his nature when she’s everything he’s ever searched for?

His world continues to spiral out of control when he learns that his fae father was the leader of a disbanded IS Rebellion. Now the IS want him to take his father’s place and lead them to freedom. As he gains friends and allies, Chris also makes enemies, and one so powerful he never saw them coming: the human government. He wants to keep his human mother and pixie mate safe, but he also can’t sit back and watch as his people continue to suffer. In a desperate move that changes the fate of not only his life, but also the IS Rebellion, Chris takes a stand—and fights back.

••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: BURNING DESIRE is the first instalment in Grace M. DeLeesie’s contemporary, adult, paranormal storyline focusing on the upcoming war between the Interdimensional Species and humans. When their existence on Earth became known decades earlier, the IS as they have come to be known, were thrown into a world of discrimination, specieism, prejudism and inequality. Tagged, registered and controlled the IS have waited for their ‘savior’ and now have reason to hope that Chris Fury is the man to lead the rebellion-once again.

The storyline focuses on the developing relationship between police detective Chris Fury-half fae/half human-and fire pixie Vivian Fires. As destined mates, Chris and Vivian are quick to accept and acknowledge their connection; their destiny together and their need to consummate the union. There is none of the anxiety, angst or pushing away-this couple know there is only one mate for each and they are one of the lucky ones to have found theirs. The sexual chemistry literally burns with the pixie fire but their mating must be kept secret because Chris’s true identity has never been revealed.

The premise follows Chris as he and his fellow detectives must investigate the ritual slaying and murders of a triad of witches with connections to the highly addictive street drug ‘witches brew’. The investigation will throw Chris into a world of secrets, hidden deceptions and more trouble than he could possibly imagine. Chris is destined to lead the next uprising of the IS and his reluctance will be tested when he discovers the abuse and torture of so many supernatural beings. And leading the charge against the IS is one of their very own.

Grace M. DeLeesie introduces a number of Interdimensional species including shifters, witches, pixies, fae, warlocks, strange beings and so much more. The copious amount of information and interconnected stories fill the pages of BURNING DESIRE creating a network of potential storylines and future tales.

Told from Chris Fury’s first person point of view Burning Desire is a slow building storyline where the premise, at times, becomes lost in the background development and history of the characters and species. The male POV can be a trepidatious writing style; it is a difficult POV for some readers to accept and understand, but in this, Chris’s POV comes across as more female oriented than male.

The writing style is simple; the sex scenes are intimate without being overly gratuitous; the main characters are likeable-you can feel their heartbreaking sorrow for those who have suffered at the hands of the Department of the Interdimensional Species. With such flagrant disregard and disrespect for the IS, the humans have set the tone for a future of unrest and rebellion.

BURNING DESIRE is an interesting storyline where the IS hide in plain site; where secrets will be revealed; and where bloodlines will pit the humans against the Interdimensional species. Grace M.DeLeesie pulls the reader into a story of discrimination and inequality that is fueled by the hatred of one of their own.

I would suggest a new cover-something a little more professional looking.
