ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 11, 2018

Erin Dawson had the perfect life growing up in a perfect home with a perfect family. Her parents gave her and her sister everything a child could want. But after learning that the man she’s called “dad” her whole life isn’t actually her biological father, Erin is determined to find the man who is.

Armed with her original birth certificate, she finds her father, but begins questioning if her mom had been right all along to keep this information buried. It turns out he is the president of a motorcycle club, which could not be further from the life Erin leads. But, she’s determined to get to know the man who she gets her striking blue eyes from. Despite getting what she wants and finding her biological father, it’s the slightly older, much rougher but incredibly sexy biker Ace that catches Erin’s eye.

As the new “princess” of the Cursed Ravens, Erin is learning a whole new world, but her father has made it clear she is off limits. Will Ace follow his President’s orders or will he put his heart ahead of his duty?

••••••••••

REVIEW: ACE OF HEARTS is the first instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult THE CURSED RAVENS MC erotic, romance series focusing on the men and women of The Cursed Ravens MC. This is twenty-eight year old MC treasurer Carson ‘Ace’ Kendrick, and twenty-one year old nursing student Erin Dawson’s story line. The Cursed Ravens MC is a spin off from the author’s Wind Dragon MC series and advances the new series arc several years.

Told from first person point of view (Erin Dawson) ACE OF HEARTS follows Erin Dawson as she goes in search of her biological father. Always believing the man that raised her was her father, Erin Dawson soon discovers her original birth certificate naming someone else-Gage Liam Parker-the president of the Cursed Ravens MC. Determined to discover the truth, and meet the man who donated half of her DNA, Erin sets out to find the Cursed Ravens MC. Enter club treasurer Carson ‘Ace’ Kendrick, and the man with whom Erin will fall in love. What ensues is the ‘forbidden’ romance between Erin and Ace, and the potential fall-out as Erin is targeted by someone in the Cursed Ravens MC.

ACE OF HEARTS introduces the players and characters within the Cursed Ravens MC. From the over protective father-figure and president Gage Parker, to the smooth croonings of Rogue, Erin’s new bestie Knuckles, Gage’s girlfriend Veronica, and bartender Dreads. From the outset Erin is welcomed as one of their own but someone is obviously not happy as she is targeted not once, but twice in an attempt to end her life. Erin’s new college roommate is Clover Black-the daughter of Sin and Faye (Wind Dragons MC).

Chantal Fernando pulls the reader into the world of the motorcycle club but most of the work and happenings of the MC takes place behind the scenes. The premise is flirty; the romance is provocative and passionate; the characters are colorful, charismatic and fun. ACE OF HEARTS is a bit of a vanilla story line as it pertains to the Cursed Ravens MC. I am hoping for a more ‘palpable and intense’ look at everything MC.

But he never expects taking this client would turn his entire world upside down.

He didn’t even know she was getting a divorce, and now he’s stuck defending the man who wants to screw Riley out of everything. Feeling like he’s betraying her, Hunter vows to settle this case as quickly as he can by any means possible. Because after months of flirting with Riley at the pub, and now knowing that she’ll soon be free, Hunter is determined to make her his.

But as the proceedings get messier and secrets are revealed, Hunter’s running out of tricks to keep both parties happy. And when someone sets Riley’s pub on fire, he can’t help but suspect his own client. Torn between his professional code of ethics and his intense connection with Riley, Hunter finds himself at a crossroads wondering whose interests he’ll ultimately protect.

REVIEW: LEADING THE WITNESS is the fourth instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult CONFLICT OF INTEREST erotic, romance novella series focusing on the legal team at Bentley and Channing Law. This is family law attorney Hunter Brayze, and bar owner Riley McMahon’s story line. LEADING THE WITNESS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Hunter and Riley) LEADING THE WITNESS follows the building relationship between attorney Hunter Brayze, and bar owner Riley McMahon. For over a year Hunter and the partners at the law offices of Bentley and Channing have frequented Riley’s bar-a local bar and tavern serving great food and the perfect atmosphere for our story line her. Meeting Riley McMahon gave purpose to Hunter’s late night fantasies but what Hunter never expected to be the lawyer for the opposition in Riley’s divorce against her pr*ck of an ex. Without the ability to help the woman that calls to his heart, Hunter makes it possible so that Riley is able to get the best defense against the accusations and threats by her determined ex. With Riley’s divorce behind them, Hunter begins his slow seduction of our story line heroine only to be brought back to reality when said ex makes another attempt to destroy any happiness for Riley, this time going after the attorney in question. What ensues is the building romance between Riley and Hunter, and the potential fall-out as Riley’s bar is targeted, and ethical misconduct threatens on the horizon.

Riley McMahon can’t soon be rid of her maddening ex-husband but embarrassment and pride stopped Riley from approaching the gang at Bentley and Channing. Hunter Brayze had no idea that his newest client was Riley’s soon to be ex-husband, a man Hunter considers a douche and an a$$hole.

The relationship between Riley and Hunter is one of immediate attraction but Hunter knew Riley was married, and he was never willing to cross the line into dangerous territory. For close to a year Hunter has dreamed about making Riley his own but it wasn’t until they were seated across from one another during the divorce hearings did Hunter ever consider making Riley his own. The $ex scenes are limited, intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text. Hunter Bentley is the epitome of perfection from looks to suits, seduction and acceptance of our story line heroine.

Most of the previous story line couples plays secondary and supporting characters. We are introduced to Hunter’s parents, and his struggling sister Cleo as well as Riley’s employees: restaurant cook Cheffy, bartenders Izaac and Preston, server Callie, and Riley’s ex-husband Jeremy Rodgers.

LEADING THE WITNESS is a sexy story with limited conflict, low level angst and great sexual chemistry. The bulk of the drama is between Riley and her ex-husband, a man who is hoping to destroy out story line heroine. From the outset Jeremy Rodgers is hoping for a clean sweep leaving Riley with nothing including the loss of her bar. The premise is entertaining; the romance is slow to build, passionate and seductive; the characters are energetic and lively.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 19,2018

A tenacious, resilient female judge must find a way to work with her carefree clerk as they find themselves in danger when a fugitive sets his sights on revenge in the third book in New York Times bestselling author Chantal Fernando’s sexy and thrilling Conflict of Interest Series.

Trinity Williams, known as “Medusa” for her stony expressions and unyielding reputation, constantly has her guard up—how else is the youngest female judge in the country supposed to survive in such a male-dominated profession? She made the decision long ago that laughter and a carefree attitude have no business in a courtroom and achieving her professional goals is the only thing she has left. It’s just her luck that her new law clerk, Callum Hopkins, believes the exact opposite.

Callum Hopkins thinks that nothing should ever be too serious in life—why can’t he mix business with pleasure? When he first starts working for his hot new boss, they clash at every turn. He makes it his mission to get Judge Williams to see things his way for once.

But when Callum finds himself in the wrong place at the wrong time as an escaped convict comes after Trinity, he realizes it’s not all fun and games anymore. Now in witness protection together until the authorities can catch the fugitive, this unlikely pair must learn to trust one another and work together to stay alive. Far away from the courtroom, Trinity and Callum are suddenly free to stop butting heads, and stop fighting the growing attraction between them.

••••••••••••

REVIEW:APPROACHING THE BENCH is the third instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary adult CONFLICT OF INTEREST erotic, romance legal novella series. This is thirty-one year old judge Trinity Williams, and twenty-five year old law clerk Callum Hopkins’ story line. APPROACHING THE BENCH can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary. Callum was first introduced in books one and two- Breaching the Contract and Seducing the Defendant.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Callum and Trinity) APPROACHING THE BENCH follows the forbidden relationship between Judge Trinity Williams, and her law clerk Callum Hopkins. Since her early career Trinity Williams has had a reputation as a cold and calculation person, something that does not go unnoticed by our story line hero but when a threatening letter lands on her desk, Trinity is willing to dismiss even if Callum suspects something more sinister is going on. An attempted kidnapping of Trinity Williams finds both Trinity and Callum in protective custody, where their attraction to one another will grow into something more. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Callum and Trinity, and the potential fall out when their whereabouts are discovered threatening any semblance of peace and security that was slowly beginning to build.

The relationship between Callum and Trinity is one of forbidden attraction as Trinity is Callum’s boss, and workplace romances are frowned upon even in the legal system. Callum continues to push the boundaries of a working friendship as Trinity struggles to remain professional in the face of their growing attraction. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Callum’s father Richard, his half-brother Justin, and best friend Eddie. The requisite evil is a familiar face to our story line heroine.

APPROACHING THE BENCH is a quick read; a reversal of power structure in that our heroine has all of the control at work while Callum has all of the control in the bedroom. The premise is entertaining; the romance is sexy and hot; the characters are energetic and inspiring.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 14, 2017

Jaxon Bentley is a hardnosed criminal lawyer whose entire life revolves around his work. He’s been asked to represent Scarlett Reyes, a woman accused of murdering her police officer husband in cold blood. All the evidence points to Scarlett being guilty and Jaxon is sure it’s an open and shut case.

But when he meets his client, he can’t help but feel that she’s innocent and that there’s more to the story than meets the eye. With a bit of digging, he uncovers a connection to the notorious Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club and realizes that Scarlett’s case is a complicated and difficult one. It certainly doesn’t help that the two share an immediate and passionate attraction. Will Jaxon be able to prove Scarlett’s innocence or are the two doomed to fail both in court and as a couple?

••••••••••

REVIEW: SEDUCING THE DEFENDANT is the second instalment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult CONFLICT OF INTEREST erotic, romance legal series. This is attorney Jaxon Bentley, and heiress Scarlett Reyes’ story line. SEDUCING THE DEFENDANT can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story line is revealed where necessary. There is a slight cross-over with the author’s Wind Dragon MC series.

Told from dual first person points of view (Jaxon and Scarlett) SEDUCING THE DEFENDANT follows the building relationship between high-powered defense attorney Jaxon Bentley, and heiress Scarlett Reyes, a woman wrongfully accused of killing her husband. Two years earlier Scarlett’s police officer husband Derrick Melvin disappeared without a trace but many suspected Scarlett knew something about his apparent demise. Fast forward to present day wherein Derrick’s bullet riddle body is discovered in the waterfront river, and our heroine is immediately arrested and charged with his murder. Enter defense attorney Jaxon Bentley, and the man with whom Scarlett will fall in love. What ensues is the building romance between Scarlett and Jaxon, and the potential fall out when Jaxon’s past comes looking for a second chance, and Derrick’s sins come looking for revenge.

All of the circumstantial evidence points towards our story line heroine but Jaxon begins to suspect something amiss as Derrick Melvin’s past begins to unravel. Hoping to prove his client is innocent Jaxon sets into motion a series of events involving the local Wind Dragon MC that reveals a much darker and sinister background to our heroine’s one-time husband.

The relationship between Jaxon and Scarlett begins as attorney and client but will slowly escalate once the charges against Scarlett have been dropped. The sexual tension is high but Jaxon bides his time under the circumstances, and in the face of potential professional misconduct he will wait until the media circus has cleared. The $ex scenes are erotic, seductive, provocative and intense.

We are re-introduced to Jaxon’s law firm partners Katerina Dawson and Tristan Channing: office intern and law student Callum Hopkins; Jaxon’s best friend Demon; and several members of the Wind Dragon MC including Irish, Valentina Sullivan, Faye Black and MC president Arrow.

SEDUCING THE DEFENDANT is an interesting and entertaining story with little conflict or building angst. The ‘defense’ aspect of the story line is quick to resolve by 28% ; the seduction and growing romance between Jaxon and Scarlett remains the focal point of the remainder of the story but saying that the story line felt disjointed as it jumped between the dual points of view; there was more telling than showing that results in the aimless feel of the building romance; the character development is rather one-dimensional- I had a difficult time relating to, and connecting with the story line couple. The conflict and resolution almost felt anti-climactic and separate from the original story. SEDUCING THE DEFENDANT was a bit of a struggle. I love the author’s WIND DRAGON MC series, and welcomed the one-on-one banter between Jaxon and Demon, as well as Demon and Scar.

REVIEW: BREACHING THE CONTRACT is the first installment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult CONFLICT OF INTEREST erotic, romance series of novellas. This is attorney Tristan Channing, and attorney Katerina Dawson’s story line.

Told from first person point of view (Katerina) BREACHING THE CONTRACT focuses on the building relationship between lawyers Katerina Dawson and Tristan Channing. Kat is a recent grad, and the new associate at one of the top law firms in the city. Hired by Jaxon Bentley, Kat finds herself thrust into the legal world of research and litigation but an emergency pulled Jaxon home leaving Kat under the mentorship of Tristan Channing- a man with a reputation hard as steel for making the newbies quit and cry. What ensues is the building romance between our leading couple, and the potential fall out when someone else’s past transgression could potentially destroy Tristan’s well –ordered world.

BREACHING THE CONTRACT is a quick read: a fast paced story line about two people thrown together in both their personal and professional lives. The story line conflict is limited to Tristan’s attraction to Kat, and the upheaval in his personal life at home. The premise is sexy; the characters are colorful and passionate although I would have liked more information about their individual history and background; the romance is seductive and intense. BREACHING THE CONTRACT is an energetic and hopeful story of romance, second chances, and a happily ever after.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 2017

On a random night out with her girlfriends, Taye experiences something she hasn’t before.

Instant attraction.

Between vodkas and dance moves she probably shouldn’t be doing in public, never mind on a podium, she meets him.

She’s never had a one night stand before, and to have one is on her list of things to experience in her life.

Not only that, but the chemistry is off the charts.

Decision made.

She’s going home with this man, and she’s not going to regret it when she leaves him in the morning.

Or at least that’s what she thinks

••••••••••

REVIEW: THE LIST by Chantal Fernando is a stand alone, erotic romance story line that follows a few years in the life of our leading couple –Taye and Eli.

Told from first person point of view (Taye) Taye wants to be a romance author but our heroine is a bit of an introvert when it comes to men and relationships. A night out with friends finds Taye focusing on the sexy Eli, a man who is only in town for a short time, but a man who is everything that Taye has been looking (for). Hoping to check off her sexual bucket list of things to do, Taye opts for a one night stand that turns into something more. What ensues is the on again, off again relationship between two people on differing paths, and with different expectations in life.

THE LIST follows our heroine as she struggles to keep her feelings in check when it comes to the man that calls to her heart. Eli never promised forever, in fact, he never promised more than a one-night stand, but attraction is what it is, and our transient and world traveling hero continues to make an occasional appearance in our heroine’s life rendering Taye pining for a man who isn’t capable of anything more. The $ex scenes are intimate; the attraction is immediate but something felt off in the story line presentation-a story that was ‘told without an invitation to come inside’

The first person perspective faltered with THE LIST. The presentation felt more like a series of journal entries; a recounting of events such that the emotion was absent, and the reader is but a remote viewer of events. There are too many details missing; we know very little about the leading characters; the lack of information left me wanting….more.

I am a big fan of the author’s Wind Dragon MC series but THE LIST missed the mark. Chantal Fernando states that some of the events in the book are fictional although loosely based on a real story. I always have difficulty with books based on real-life events because the ‘background information’ and the colorful events are likely to be altered such that they are no longer recognizable and the real emotion is missing. I am hoping the real-life heroine did find her HEA with or without her Eli.

LAST RIDE (Wind Dragon MC #5.5) by Chantal Fernando-a review

Last Ride

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 7, 2016

The Wind Dragons MC couple who started it all is back! We met the stars of Chantal Fernando’s bestselling series in Dragon’s Lair, and now Sin and Faye are ready for more—and with these two, that means more passion, more action, and more of the best kind of trouble.

Sin, president of the Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club, doesn’t mind that things have quieted down since he got married—with Faye at his side, he’ll never be bored. Plus, they’ve got their little girl Clover to keep them on their toes. But when new MC brother Talon needs help rooting out a traitor in his old club, Faye’s the first to volunteer. She’s more determined than ever to get involved and put her law degree to good use, but Sin soon finds himself riding to the rescue. Because he’ll kill anybody who touches a hair on Faye’s head—if she doesn’t get to them first. One way or another, tonight’s going to be someone’s last ride

••••••••••••••

REVIEW: LAST RIDE is novella 5.5 in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult WIND DRAGON MC romance series focusing on the men and women of the Wind Dragon’s Motorcycle Club. This is Dex ‘Sin’ Black and his wife Faye’s continuing story, and can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Sin and Faye) Faye finds herself the victim of a kidnapping aimed to bring the Wind Dragon MC president to his knees. While Sin searches for the woman that owns his heart, Faye discovers the who and why of her recent abduction. Meanwhile Talon (Wild Ride 4.5), the president of the Wild Men MC, comes to a decision about his current place within the Club, as he continues his search for the betrayer in their midst.

LAST RIDE focuses on Faye Black-attorney and wife of the Wind Dragon’s MC president-a woman who is both strong in mind and body- and isn’t willing to accept her fate as a kidnapping victim. When trying to talk her way out of the situation fails, Faye uses every means to escape her captors. Faye’s popularity within the Club is tantamount to rock star status, and I question the amount of endearing love bathed upon our story line heroine.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including most of the previous story line couples as well as a look at the growing families and potential new members for the MC. There are a few twists and turns; acts of betrayal; relationships that suffer; and family members who have a difficult time accepting what has happened. Faye and Sin’s relationship continues to be highly sexual, intimate and romantic.

There are some upcoming changes to the Wind Dragon MC. I am hoping for a full-length story line focusing on Talon and his new direction in life. The premise is subtle in its presentation of what is and what is going to be: the characters are entertaining-Faye’s night with the other women is full of laughs and surprises. The romance is a continuation of Faye and Sin’s happily ever after. LAST RIDE is a quick read; a story line that changes the direction of the series, and with it comes a few surprises, reveals, and the introduction of a few new members.

WOLF’S MATE (Wind Dragons MC #5) by Chantal Fernando-a review

Wolf's Mate

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date August 16, 2016

Vinnie was once the youngest prospect at the infamous Wind Dragons Motorcycle Club but finally, he’s going to be initiated as a full-fledged member! But when Vinnie (now known as Wolf) puts on that WDMC leather for the first time, little does he know what he’s in for. The Wind Dragons have made enemies, and being a member means being on the front lines

••••••••

REVIEW: WOLF’S MATE is the fifth installment in Chantal Fernando’s contemporary, adult WIND DRAGONS erotic, romance, MC series focusing on the men and women of the Wind Dragons MC. This is club member Vinnie aka ‘Wolf’, and Shayla Anderson’s story line. WOLF’S MATE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Vinnie and Shayla) WOLF’S MATE follows the building relationship between Vinnie and Shayla. Vinnie has been assigned to ‘babysit’ Shayla Anderson. Shayla is the younger cousin to Wild Men’s MC president Talon, and a woman targeted by the Mafia and the FBI. Shayla’s father is an accountant and is currently in prison for money laundering and fraud. Our heroine is suspected of knowing where her father hid some important information, and her life is to be forfeited for what she may or may not know. Enter Vinnie aka Wolf of the Wind Dragon MC, the man whose marker has been called in by Talon, and the man who would fall in love with our story line heroine.

Shayla is first introduced to the reader as a pampered princess; a spoiled young woman with attitude to spare but in reality she is a woman who has been caught up in a world she knows nothing about. Vinnie comes into the story on the offensive as it pertains to our story line heroine, not willing to give her the benefit of the doubt believing the rumors he has heard about the woman with whom he will fall in love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and seductive.

Several of the previous couples and story line characters play secondary and supporting roles including the wives, girlfriends and ‘old ladies’ of a number of Wind Dragon MC members. These interactions are playful and fun; Faye is a force unto herself when she is determined to ferret out information and gossip about the newest member to join their Club.

WOLF’S MATE is a slower building story line than previous installments in the series. The focus of the premise is keeping Shayla Anderson safe and out of harm’s way but in reality the ‘conflict’ barely scratches the surface of the story and the action is limited to behind the scenes. There is no interaction between Shayla and those wanting to destroy her life; for all intents and purposes the story focused on the relationship between our leading couple, and everything else, including the threats against the story line heroine became background noise and little else. The action and any potential chaos are missing; the conflict resolution, like most of the action, is behind the scenes, and the reader learns what happens ‘after the fact’.

WOLF’S MATE is a fated tale about two people brought together by circumstance and a debt owed. The premise is a water-downed look at the world of the MC and because so much of the action takes place ‘off camera’ and ‘behind the scenes’ I had a difficult time accepting that the threats against Shayla were real or imagined. The characters are an eclectic mix of fun, dynamic and passionate; the romance is intimate and intense.
