Review:

Mistletoe and Mischief by Debbie Macomber is set in her wonderful Cedar Cove series.  There are two Christmas holiday stories, A Cedar Cove Christmas and 1225 Christmas Tree Lane.  

A Cedar Cove Christmas

We meet Mary Jo Wyse, who is pregnant, and the father of her baby is nowhere to be found.  With her 3 brothers making decisions to find the man responsible and force him to marry Mary Jo; she leaves in the middle of the night, and heads to Cedar Cove.  She expects to find her ex-boyfriend there, or meet his parents; but when she arrives, the boyfriend is not in Cedar Cove, and the parents are away.  There are no openings in the local inn, but Grace Harding invites her to her ranch, knowing that Mary Jo needs help, and her pregnancy is close.

Mary Jo meets a local paramedic, Mack AcAfee, who will later help her when she goes into labor. Mack finds himself having feelings for Mary Jo, as she will too; as they will make a wonderful couple.  I loved the animals, which were cute.  Her brothers end up in Cedar Cove, and many of the local people celebrated the birth of Noelle.  This was a wonderful and heartwarming story.

 

1225 Christmas Tree Lane

This story also takes place in Cedar Cove, with many wonderful residents who played a large part in this story.  The story revolves around Beth Morehouse, as she finds a basket of puppies at her doorstep. What follows is Beth determined to find good homes for the 10 puppies for many of the residents at Cedar Cove; with many of the residents having their own chapter, with Beth dropping buy to bring them a puppy.  Very cute stories. 

Beth is also celebrating Christmas with her two daughter’s home from college; with both girls determined to bring their mother and father together again, as they have been divorced for a few years.  To Beth’s surprise, her ex brings along a coworker.  Is she just a co-worker, or is there something more?  

There were a few surprises, as well as Beth bringing the puppies to each resident, who wanted one.  Lots of fun, and felt like visiting old friends. 

This was a quick enjoyable read for both stories; in a Christmas theme.  Once again Debbie Macomber gives us sweet heartwarming stories.   Well done.

Review:

The Holiday Cottage by Sarah Morgan was a wonderful heartwarming modern Christmas story. We meet Imogen, who is very successful and happy in her marketing job; as she devotes all of her time to her job and clients.  Privately everything she reveals to her co-workers are in actuality illusions; such having, a boyfriend, family, and a dog.   Imogen had a terrible childhood, with a mother, Tina, who wanted nothing to do with her daughter, other than giving her money.  When Imogen is called to the hospital to visit her mother, she is late to a work-related project; which leads to her boss telling her she is burnt out, and needs to take a break for month away from her job.

Dorothy is one of Imogen’s favorite clients, and when she learns that Imogen is taking a break, she offers her to come to Cotswolds, and stay at her picturesque guest Holly Cottage for the month, which is close to Dorothy’s house.  Imogen accepts the invitation, where she will spend the Christmas holidays at the cottage.  Dorothy seeks her own redemption of her past, which will also change Imogen’s life forever.  Dorothy’s daughter Sara, who lives close by, with two children and her husband; as she fears that the secrets of the past, could cause a crumbling effect, if truths are revealed.

Imogene is thrilled to be able to stay at the cottage during the holiday season, and when she meets Dorothy’s family at the house, she accidently sees photos of her mother, and Dorothy’s family.  Imogene is shocked, and leaves the house, planning to go home; but when she slips in the snow, she is rescued by Miles and his dog. Imogen will learn from Miles many of the truths from the past, which make her willing have Miles and the dog help her go back to the cottage, where Sara and Dorothy find her.  As both Sara and Dorothy open their hearts revealing how they loved her, before Tina took her away. 

Slowly, Imogene learns the truths, and together Imogen, Sara and Dorothy will forge a bond, that brings them together, as a family.  Imogen realizes that her mother, was evil, and took away the family she never knew she had.  Her relationship with Miles also changes things, as they both will find love; not to mention the wonderful addition of the dog. 

The Holiday Cottage was a wonderful heartwarming story of family, friendship, hope, love, and discovering to cherish to their new found bond that will enrich their lives.   The Holiday Cottage is so very well written by Sarah Morgan. This was a captivating story filled with many emotions along the way.  I suggest you read The Holiday Cottage.

This is restaurateur Jameson Franklin, and florist Devon Pratt’s story line. CHRISTMAS IN CAPE MAY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from omniscient dual third person perspectives (Devon and Jameson) CHRISTMAS IN CAPE MAY follows the building but contemptuous romance and relationship between our story line couple. Cape May restaurant owner Mac was taking a leave of absence, and brought in his cousin Jameson Franklin to manage the popular family restaurant known as Vintage but from the outset Jameson’s need to make changes sets everyone on edge including florist Devon Pratt. Jameson refuses to host the upcoming fund raiser for the local animal shelter, and Devon is about to show Jameson the power of small town control. As Jameson continues to alienate the folks of Cape May, Devon sees behind the pain, and into the heart of a man who’s struggling to thrive. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Devon and Jameson, and the potential fall-out as Jameson’s time in Cape May comes to a close.

The world building focuses on Jameson’s need to update and change his cousin’s restaurant but the people in Cape May like things the way they are, and Jameson is about to rile the proverbial feathers of the tight-knit small town. Devon Pratt warned Jameson Franklin that his changes would not be approved but Jameson struggles with the approaching holidays, and wants nothing to do with tradition or songs.

The relationship between Jameson and Devon begins acrimoniously as our couple butt-heads from the first time they met. Jameson need changes, and Devon warns that change is not good, nor has it ever been approved. With the arrival of the world’s largest puppy, Devon and Jameson find themselves sharing custody of a dog no one wants, and in the end, the love for a puppy becomes the love between two people battling the loneliness of the holidays. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The secondary and supporting characters are familiar and fun: Avery and Carter, Bella and Gabe, Taylor and Pierce. We are introduced to restaurant owner Mac, his employees, and Bear.

CHRISTMAS IN CAPE MAY is a fast paced, quick read; a story of family and friendships, love and acceptance. The premise is entertaining, engaging and sweet; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and enthusiastic.

REVIEW: I know what I’m adding to my Christmas this year. Three over the top Bratva alpha’s. Mika Lane’s latest release is most definitely an early Christmas present for her readers. My Bratva Christmas is a reverse harem romance filled with spicy scenes, funny comments and all the hot alpha’s you possibly need to keep warm at night.

When Lily’s simple job at an art gallery lands her in the arms of three of the hottest men she has ever seen, she isn’t sure if her luck has changed or if it’s run out. What do they want from her? They say they want to protect her, but the look in their eyes is anything but protection, it’s more carnal. More primal. Will Lily, the party planner give in to the three men or is her fate already sealed?

Artem, Grisha and Valentin are Bratva brothers and they have finally found their one. Lily. Put into a not so great situation, the mafia brothers must not only protect her, but also convince her that she is theirs. To protect her though, they must kidnap her, to keep her from something much more dangerous. Now and forever. But can they make the relationship work?
