ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 23, 2017

I’m Ivy Clarke. Bartender, best friend, and disbeliever in love.
And now I’m in over my head, trying to flip a house all by myself.
Thanks, HGTV.

I’m not too proud to admit I need some help. Too bad the only one who can help me is the same man I want to throw out this house’s second-story window.
Jackson Gamble and I can’t be in the same room together for more than a minute without devolving into a sparring match.

Except for that one time…

But enough about that. Jackson’s looking for forever, and I don’t believe in love, remember? Get in. Renovate. Get out. Keep my heart firmly in tact.
Because it’s much easier to fix up a house than a broken heart.

Full of humor and dripping with delicious tension, Nailed It proves that every heart can be ready for a little rehabilitation, if only you’re willing to open it up.

•••••••••

REVIEW: NAILED IT by Cindi Madsen is a stand alone, contemporary, adult romance story line focusing on building contractor Jackson Gamble, and bartender Ivy Clarke. We were first introduced to our couple in the author’s 12 Steps to Mr. Right. Ivy is Lincoln Wells’ cousin; Jackson is Savannah’s brother.

Told from first person point of view (Ivy Clarke) NAILED IT follows the acrimonious relationship between bartender Ivy Clarke, and building contractor Jackson Gamble. Ivy is hoping to ‘rehab’ and flip the house where her fondest memories of childhood began but our heroine struggles with the overwhelming amount of work, and a lack of funds to complete the job. Enter carpenter and contractor Jackson Gamble, Ivy’s ‘one week stand’, and her best friend’s brother. What ensues is the building relationship and love between Ivy and Jackson, and the fall out as Ivy struggles with her inability to trust, and her mother’s history of broken relationships.

Ivy Clark wants nothing to do with relationships, love or a long term commitment. Her mother’s history of different men, in and out of our heroine’s life, leaves Ivy struggling with an inability to trust or ever fall in love. Ivy has her own ’12 Step’ program she follows to ensure that her own happily ever after never occurs but she battles the loneliness of an empty bed, and a series of hopeless one-night stands. Jackson Gamble is hoping to settle down but the woman that calls to his heart refuses to acknowledge her attraction to, and the palpable sexual energy between them. As Jackson slowly works his way into our heroine’s heart, Ivy believes their time together expires with the sale of the house.

The relationship between Ivy and Jackson is a second chance romance. Years before Ivy pushed Jackson out of her life when their relationship began to take on something more permanent. Months of caustic back and forth banter would lead to a temporary truce as the couple battle their attraction working together. The $ex scenes are mostly implied or fade to black.

NAILED IT is a sweet story of romance; of one woman’s struggle to rise above her mother’s past; and one man’s battle with his attraction to a woman too jaded to give love a chance. The premise is cute and endearing; the characters are lively; the romance is delightful and charming.

Confessions of a Former Puck bunny

Amazon | Amazon Australia | Amazon UK | Amazon Canada | Barnes & Noble | iBooks | Kobo

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 8, 2017

Confession #1: I used to be a puck bunny, but after a hockey player broke my heart, I gave up all things hockey. Now I’m just focused on finding a way to pass my math class so I can graduate college.

Confession #2: Ryder “Ox” Maddox’s deep, sexy voice sends fuzzy tingles through my entire body, and I’m powerless to stop it. Which is a big problem since the hot, surprisingly funny hockey player is my new math tutor.

Confession #3: I can’t stop thinking about how ripped Ryder is from all his hockey training, and how fun it’d be to cross lines with him.

Confession #4: I kissed a hockey player and I liked it.

Confession #5: If I’m not careful, I might relapse and fall for Ryder, and then I’ll be totally pucked.

••••••••••

REVIEW:CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER PUCK BUNNY is the fourth installment in Cindi Madsen’s contemporary, new adult TAKING SHOTS hockey, romance series focusing on the members of Boston College hockey team. This is rookie Ryder ‘Ox’ Maddox, and journalism student Lindsay Rivera’s story line. CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER PUCK BUNNY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

DEFINITION: ‘Puck Bunny-noun-A female ice hockey fan whose interest in the sport is primarily motivated by sexual attraction to the players rather than the enjoyment of the game.’

Told from dual first person points of view (Ryder and Lindsay) CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER PUCK BUNNY follows Lindsay as she struggles to pass her final class of university math. Enter rookie hockey sensation Ryder Maddox, Lindsay’s latest math tutor, and the man with whom Lindsay will fall in love. What ensues are Lindsay’s attempts to keep her distance from everything hockey, hoping to heal her reputation and forget about the past.

Lindsay Rivera is a former puck bunny whose reputation with the players precedes our heroine’s introduction including her failed attempt to seduce then destroy team member Hudson Decker and the BC hockey team (Anatomy of a Player #2). As a rookie, Ryder Maddox is unaware of Lindsay’s reputation, or her previous one-night stands with the members of his team. Ryder’s attraction to Lindsay will be complicated when the past reveals more than either one knew.

The attraction between Ryder and Lindsay is immediate but Lindsay struggles with her past reputation, staying clear of all things hockey related including the members of the team. One year ‘clean and sober’ from the world of hockey Lindsay fears falling back into old habits when Ryder Maddox enters her life. Ryder intends to prove to Lindsay that the past is in the past; his pursuit of our story line hero is sweet and romantic. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

All of the previous couples play secondary and supporting roles including Lyla and Beck, Whitney and Hudson, Megan and Dane. We are introduce to Ryder’s parents: his father, a former professional hockey player, and his long suffering mother who struggles with sins from the past.

The world building follows the BC hockey team as they vie for the playoffs towards another championship season. Ryder and Lindsay’s relationship continues to build although Lindsay struggles with her previous behavior and reputation.

CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER PUCK BUNNY is a predictable story line with a couple of twists that add some outside conflict into an already struggling relationship. The premise is realistic and engaging; the characters are spirited, colorful and animated; the romance is fated and passionate. CONFESSIONS OF A FORMER PUCK BUNNY is an enjoyable and welcome addition to Cindi Madsen’s TAKING SHOTS new adult, romance series.

Vince shows up right when Cassie needs him most. In a world of confusion, the rugged stranger is the one thing that makes sense. But little does she know, she’s found refuge in the arms of the very man who’s been sent to kill her.

•••••

REVIEW: TAKING CARE OF THE TARGET by Cindi Madsen is a stand alone, romantic suspense story focusing on waitress Cassie Dalton, and restaurant manager Vince DaMarco.

Vince is the nephew of one of New Jersey’s mob bosses but refuses to get involved in the ‘illegal’ side of the business. His attraction to waitress Cassie Dalton finds our hero battling his allegiance to the family, and his need to protect Cassie when a shake down goes wrong. Cassie will be the prime witness in a murder but an accident will leave our heroine without any memory, and Vince DaMarco is sent to ensure that Cassie doesn’t survive to testify. What ensues is the relationship between Cassie and Vince, and Vince’s struggle to keep Cassie one step ahead of the mob.

The relationship between Cassie and Vince is slow to build as Vince is all about protecting the woman with whom he is falling in love. Vince has been ordered to kill Cassie before her memory returns but our hero finds himself Cassie’s personal security fearing his uncle will call in someone else to finish the job. Cassie is unaware of her previous friendship with Vince, and Vince has yet to tell Cassie the truth. The attraction between Cassie and Vince is palpable; their chemistry is intense; the $ex scenes are mostly implied.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Vince’s troubled brother Bobby, and their uncle Carlo Rossi. We are introduced to a number of friends, law enforcement, acquaintances, employees, and members of the Rossi crime family-most of whom are very loyal to Carlo Rossi.

TAKING CARE OF THE TARGET is a slow building story line as Vince struggles between duty and love. The premise is suspenseful; the characters are dynamic and colorful; the romance is emotional and passionate. TAKING CARE OF THE TARGET is a spirited and intimate look at two people whose lives are thrown together by circumstance and the mob.

Crazy Pucking Love

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date November 7, 2016

I just met the girl of my dreams.

Megan Davenport is funny and smart, and she’s as much of an insomniac as I am. She’s also my team captain’s little sister, which I only found out after our passionate kiss.

Megan is completely off-limits—her brother makes that very clear—and I know better than to think I can keep a relationship going during hockey season anyway. But that doesn’t mean we can’t be late-night friends, right?

The only problem is, love makes you do crazy things, like breaking all the rules.

•••••••••

REVIEW: CRAZY PUCKING LOVE is the third installment in Cindi Madsen’s contemporary, new adult TAKING SHOTS romance series focusing on the members of a Boston college hockey team. This is hockey player Dane Kowalski , and college student Megan Davenport’s story line. CRAZY PUCKING LOVE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Megan is Beckett Davenport’s (Getting Lucky Number Seven #1) younger sister-and as such is off limits to the guys on his team.

Told from dual first person points of view (Dane and Megan) CRAZY PUCKING LOVE follows the building romance and relationship between Dane Kowalski and eighteen year old Megan Davenport. Unbeknownst to Megan, Dane is a member of the college hockey team- a team in which her brother Beckett is a member and his over protective alpha attitude has placed Megan in the ‘hands off’ category as it pertains to his fellow team players. Dane’s attraction to Megan finds our hero pushing away the young woman with whom he is falling in love leaving a heartbroken Megan to deal with the anxiety of another failed relationship. Megan’s ‘Fresh Start Checklist’ – a bucket list of things to accomplish while at college including finding a guy with boyfriend potential -begins to fall apart when Dane walks away because of his past and Megan’s brother’s warning.

Dane and Megan’s backstories are heartbreaking and full of angst and lost opportunities. Megan’s parents were killed years before, and Dane’s parents were all but absent throughout most of his life. To escape his home town Dane walked away and never looked back but recent events find our hero battling more guilt than his secret relationship with Megan Davenport. The $ex scenes are mostly implied reading more like a YA story line than a new adult formula.

Several of the previous story line couples plays secondary and supporting roles including Beckett Davenport and Lyla Wilder (Getting Lucky Number Seven #1) as well as Hudson Decker and Whitney Porter (Anatomy of a Player #2).

CRAZY PUCKING LOVE is a bit of a frustrating story line in that Dane is reluctant to cross an invisible line as it pertains to his relationship with Megan, and his friendship with teammate Becket Davenport. For all intents and purposes the situational anxiety was unfortunate in that I was disappointed in the overall feel of the story. The push and pull of the relationship was tempered by the possibility of Beckett’s discovery, and in this, their ‘dirty little secret’ felt more like an affair than a growing love.

CRAZY PUCKING LOVE is a story of ‘forbidden love’; a young woman on her own for the first time falling for an older man who is friends with her over-protective brother. The premise is entertaining but maddening; the characters are caught between friendship and love; the romance is a struggle towards a happily ever after.

12 Steps to Mr.Right

Amazon.com / Amazon.ca / B&N / KOBO /

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date September 26, 2016

12 steps to finding Mr. Right, composed by dating coach extraordinaire Savannah Gamble

1: Admit to being powerless over your attraction to the wrong type of guy. (Like Lincoln Wells, who broke your heart after an unforgettable one-night stand.)
2: Believe Mr. Right is out there.
3: Take inventory of past mistakes. (See step #1.)
4: Make a list of qualities you want in a man. (Avoid charming baseball players/reason you made these rules in the first place)
5: Take charge of your own life.
6: Learn to love yourself.
7: Sort the hookup guys from the relationship guys. (Avoid a painful brushoff after an amazing night together.)
8: Never, ever settle. (Even if the chemistry is off-the-charts.)
9: Don’t believe you can change a guy. (Once a commitment-phobe, always a commitment-phobe)
10: Communicate your needs.
11: Open your heart & love fully. (Still working on this one…)
12: Don’t ever, ever stray from the steps.

••••••••••

REVIEW: 12 STEPS TO MR. RIGHT by Cindi Madsen is a stand alone, contemporary, adult romance focusing on dating coach Savannah Gamble, and former baseball player Lincoln Wells.

Told from first person point of view (Savannah) 12 STEPS TO MR. RIGHT follows ‘board certified’ dating consultant and coach Savannah Gamble as she struggles with her attraction to former friend and one-night stand Lincoln Wells-the man who triggered Savannah to ‘write’ the 12 Step Program for women in the dating world. Linc’s return to Atlanta Georgia comes with renewed heartbreak for our heroine as the memories of the past continue to control her current way of life.

Five years earlier Savannah fell for her best friend Ivy’s cousin Lincoln Wells, and following a drunken one-night stand Linc walked away without a backward glance. Fast forward to present day and Linc has returned to Atlanta Georgia, his baseball career never amounting to stardom, and hoping to reconnect with our story line heroine. As Linc continues to pursue Savannah, Savannah adheres rigidly to her 12 Step Program and is unable to get past the heartbreak of the past. Savannah’s strict adherence to her rules of dating make some for uncomfortable moments throughout the story as she is constantly applying the rules to her own relationships, and isn’t willing to step away or give benefit of the doubt.

The romance between LInc and Savannah is very slow to build as our heroine refuses to accept that Linc has changed; Linc is a man who is unaware of Savannah’s hurt, or what it is he did to destroy her faith in all men. The $ex scenes are implied and fade to black.

We are introduced to Savannah’s brother Jackson Gamble who has some sort of history with her best friend Ivy. Ivy refuses to acknowledge Jackson’s existence, and in this there is plenty of tension that adds to the already tense relationship between Savannah and Linc. Savannah’s extended family of aunts, as well as her own mother, complicates the matter as they see our heroine as a lonely spinster, without any prospects to settle down.

12 STEPS TO MR. RIGHT has moments of fun and humor; heartbreak and romance; realization and letting go but I did have some difficulty liking the heroine with her strict adherence to her own set of rules so much so that it affected her own relationships, and oft times that of those she coached. The 12 Steps seemed more like laws to be enforced rather than suggestions for a happily ever after.

••••••••••

REVIEW: THE BAD BOY’S BABY is the third installment in Cindi Madsen’s contemporary, adult HOPE SPRINGS romance series focusing on the people of Hope Springs . This is retired soldier Cam Brantley, and single mother/designer Emma Walker’s story line. THE BAD BOY’S BABY can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Cam is Heath’s brother whom we met in book two-Crazy for the Competition.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cam and Emma) THE BAD BOY’S BABY is a story of second chances for our leading couple. Following a one night stand with Emma three years earlier, Cam was deployed to the Middle East and never knew that the town to which he would return held a few more surprises than when he had left.

Emma was the high school nerd; the smart girl who had a crush on the town bad boy Cam Brantley-a young man who barely knew that Emma ever existed. A planned seduction of the man of her dreams results in an unplanned pregnancy and the destruction of her future dreams. When Cam returns to Hope Springs Emma knows it is time to reveal the truth about her daughter’s parentage considering she (Emma) and Cam would be working together. The story line follows the building relationship between Cam and Emma, as well as between Cam and the daughter he never knew. There is someone else vying for Emma’s affection which sets off a series of events that throw Cam into a meltdown.

THE BAD BOY’S BABY is a sweet, romantic read about two people thrown together by a one-night stand. There are no graphic sexual situations; all $ex is implied and fades to black. Due to his dysfunctional family at home Cam never wanted to have children but meeting Zoey, the little girl with blonde curls and her father’s eyes, finds our hero falling in love with both mother and daughter. Most of the previous story line couples and characters play secondary and supporting roles. Cam and Heath’s father is trying his best to make up for the sins of his past but sometimes the memories are too hard to overcome.

So much for her “nice, conservative boys” rule.

Heath has his own reasons for bidding on Mountain Ridge, and he won’t give in without a fight – even to the red-lipped hottie with a sailor’s mouth. But when their rivalry shifts into an unexpected zing of chemistry, Heath realizes he’s in deep trouble. Because it’s inevitable that emotions will get involved, and he needs to keep his eyes on the prize before they both get hurt.

••••••••••••

REVIEW: CRAZY FOR THE COMPETITION is the second installment in Cindi Madsen’s adult, contemporary Hope Springs romance series focusing on the people of Hope Springs, Wyoming. This is auto mechanic/ musician Heath Brantley, and real estate agent Quinn Sakata’s storyline. CRAZY FOR THE COMPETITION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty . Any important information from the previous storyline is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual third person perspectives CRAZY FOR THE COMPETITION focuses on the building relationship between Quinn and Heath, as well as their competing proposals for restoring and renovating the old Mountain Ridge Bed and Breakfast. Quinn is hoping to restore the B&B to its’ original purpose, while Heath has plans to develop a hunting lodge that he and his older brother Cam will run together. When the local council is unable to make a decision, Heath and Quinn are roped into building a float for the local parade.

Quinn has had a crush on Heath since high school but three years his junior, Quinn was never on Heath’s radar. Heath has a bit of a reputation with the woman; Quinn is saving herself for marriage. Quinn’s Japanese ancestry finds our heroine caught between worlds: her family’s honor and Quinn’s relationship with a man considered less than desirable by her mom and dad. As the council considers both propositions for the run down B&B, our leading couple will find themselves falling in love knowing one or both will lose in the end.

The relationship between our couple is that of a developing friendship to falling in love. Because Quinn does not believe in sex before marriage, there is no $ex or sexual imagery although the desire for one another is off the charts.

Royce and Sadie from book one –Second Chance Ranch- plays supporting roles; Sadie is Quinn’s best friend, and the lead singer in the band with whom Heath plays. We are introduced to Quinn’s well to do and over protective Japanese parents whose image of their eldest child is less than positive. Quinn is a woman who seems to disappoint her parents whatever it is she plans to do. In this, much of Quinn’s self esteem hinders on her parent’s approval and love. Heath’s family situation finds our hero embarrassed by his father’s lifestyle, and his own need to protect his younger brother.

The blurb notes that Quinn has a ‘sailor’s mouth’ but truth be told, the language our heroine uses is not even close to bad….if one believes the use of the word ‘sh*t’ constitutes bad language then they haven’t really heard a true sailor mouth at work. In fact, I believe the word sh*t is only expressed three times in the story and one of those times by Quinn’s sister Maya. As this is truly a story of romance with no $ex or sexual situations, I believe the blurb is slightly misleading with its’ description of Quinn Sakata’s ‘sailor mouth’.

CRAZY FOR THE COMPETITION is a sweet story of romance and building love; family and friendship. The characters are engaging and realistic; the storyline enjoyable and fresh; the happily ever after heartwarming and wonderful. If you are looking for a simple, uncomplicated and ‘clean’ read, CRAZY FOR THE COMPETITION

Getting Lucky Number SevenAmazon / Barnes & Noble / Kobo / BAM

Description:
What’s your lucky number?

Lyla Wilder is done being the shy, chemistry nerd extraordinaire. While every other college student is out having fun, Lyla is studying. With her cat. Well, she’s played it “safe” quite enough, thank you. So she creates a “College Bucket List”―with item #7 being a night of uninhibited, mind-blowing sex…

But she needs some help from her man-whore best friend.

Hockey player Beck Davenport thought Lyla’s transformation would be subtle. Man, was he wrong. With every item she ticks off, Beck finds himself growing seriously hot for his sweet, brainiac best friend. And if he’s not careful, he’ll end up risking their friendship in order to convince Lyla that he might just be her lucky #7…

Review

Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen was a fun and enjoyable romance. Lyla wants to step out of her comfort zone and complete a college bucket list, which includes getting a makeover and being more easy going around guys. She enlists her best friend’s help, knowing how much Beck “gets” her and will understand her need to do this.
But Beck is a guy, in fact he is a hockey player, a jock, and a total babe magnet. So who better than her best friend to help her change from nerd to sexy.

The dual point of view took me a few chapters to get into, but once I settled, it was fun reading both sides if this love story.

Yeah it was a little predictable, but who cares, I totally loved the book. It’s well written, the characters are well thought out, and very three dimensional.

There is lots of funny one liners, poor Beck as he struggles with his feelings for his friend, and the labels that go with college, “jock” and “nerd”.

And I’m sure you all want to know, does she get her number 7 on the list ? And if so, who was it ?

Well……….,

Nope, can’t do it to you, it would spoil it for you.  🙂

The secondary characters of Jeff, Megan, and Whitney made the book even more entertaining and I really hope that they get their own book. I really hope that this book turns into a series as I could definitely read more about this group of people.
