ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 27, 2015

Fighting for redemption…

I’ve lived most of my life in darkness, beneath the shadows of secrets and addictions. The last thing I ever wanted to do was hurt the only girl I’d ever loved-the one who brought me into the light. In my entire life I’d made one promise-a promise I’d intended to keep. I’ve broken that promise and now I have to live with the fallout. Dixie Lark hates me, and I have to tell her that I love her. I also have to tell her a truth that might destroy us forever.

Can she love me even if she can’t forgive me?

Learning to move on…

Gavin Garrison broke his promise to my brother and he broke my heart in the process. I may never love anyone the way I’ve loved him, but at least I won’t spend my life wondering what if. We had our one night and he walked away. I’m finally beginning to move on when my brother’s wedding and a battle of the bands brings us back together.

Our band is getting a second chance, but I don’t know if I can give him one. How do you hand your heart back to the person who set it on fire once already?

••••••••••••

REVIEW: MISSING DIXIE is the third installment in Caisey Quinn’s new adult, contemporary NEON DREAMS romance series focusing on the members of the country band Leaving Amarillo. MISSING DIXIE is the continuing story of fiddler Dixie Lark, and the band’s drummer Gavin Garrison. Dixie and Gavin’s storyline began in book one- Leaving Amarillo. MISSING DIXIE should not be read as a stand alone as there is too much backstory and history revealed in the previous two installments.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Dixie and Gavin) MISSING DIXIE focuses on the rekindling of the relationship between Dixie and Gavin, but not before Gavin must face the demons from his past. At the end of LEAVING AMARILLO Gavin is about to head out on tour with Dixie’s brother Dallas but Gavin has second thoughts and finds himself trying to correct the sins from his past. MISSING DIXIE follows Gavin as he condemns himself to a life without the woman he loves in order to clean up and make amends for everything that went wrong. The reader is front and center as Gavin berates himself for the childhood that was out of his control, and the mother who is unable to get clean and sober.

MISSING DIXIE is a storyline of second chances for Gavin and Dixie, as well as Gavin as he must tell Dixie everything that happened the year she went away. Gavin’s past is mired in drug addiction, sex, alcohol abuse, and a need to escape into the abyss leaving Gavin broken and feeling unworthy of love and success. Gavin fears rejection from the only woman he has ever loved. There is plenty of drama, tension, self-hatred, back and forth, and a definite lack of communication especially as it pertains to Gavin’s past and his current situation. Gavin’s failure to communicate leaves too much to misinterpretation and misunderstanding. The secrets Gavin’s keeps close to his heart are destroying everything he has with the woman he loves. There is some definite reader anxiety as it pertains to Gavin’s inability to tell Dixie the truth. Dixie is willing to forgive and forget; she is a woman who loves her man-unconditionally.

MISSING DIXIE is an emotional and heartbreaking storyline about two people who have known one another for most of their lives. Gavin’s backstory is tragic; full of abuse, neglect, drug addiction and shame. Dixie and Dallas became Gavin’s family; his lifeline when everything began to spiral out of control but Gavin’s mistakes could find our hero losing all that he holds dear-a second chance with Dixie and the band finds Gavin at a crossroads when the past comes back with a vengeance. We will be introduced to a young boy-seven year old Liam-whose own life is eerily similar to the trauma of Gavin’s past but the resolution is technically flawed.

Caisey Quinn writes a passionate story of family and friends; moving forward and letting go; forgiveness and falling in love. The premise is a roller coaster of emotions, anxiety and stress; the characters are colorful, impassioned and heartbreaking; the happily ever after fast forwards the storyline several months to several years.

excerpt

When Dixie finishes, she takes her place across the altar and I can’t tear my stare from her. Her sapphire eyes shine like diamonds with the promise of tears.
I wish I could give you this.
Right as I’m about to look away, her gaze collides with mine. My heart swells in my chest. I have so much to say and no words to say it.
I’m sorry.
I’m trying.
I love you.
She doesn’t even flinch at the turmoil I know is probably apparent on my face. She just gives me a confident smile and a knowing look as if to say, One day.
One day that will be us. A future.
A forever.
I fucking hope so.
I just have no clue how we’ll ever manage to get there.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 17, 2015

Dixie Lark hasn’t had it easy. She lost her parents in an accident when she was young and grew up in a ramshackle house on a dirt road in Amarillo with her ailing grandparents and overprotective older brother. Thanks to her grandfather, Dixie learned to play a mean fiddle, inspired by the sounds of the greats—Johnny and June, Waylon, and Hank. Her grandfather’s fiddle changed Dixie’s life forever, giving her an outlet for the turmoil of her broken heart and inspiring a daring dream.

Ten years later, Dixie and her brother, Dallas, are creating the music they love and chasing fame with their hot band, Leaving Amarillo. But Dixie isn’t enjoying the ride. All she can think about is Gavin, the band’s tattooed, tortured drummer who she’s loved since they were kids. She knows he feels the connection between them, but he refuses see her as more than his best friend’s little sister.

Convinced that one night with Gavin will get him out of her system, Dixie devises a plan. She doesn’t know that her brother has forbidden Gavin from making a move on her-a promise he swore he’d always keep . . . a promise that once broken will unexpectedly change the future for Dixie, Gavin and the band.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: LEAVING AMARILLO is the first installment in Caisey Quinn’s contemporary, new adult Neon Dreams romance series focusing on twenty year old musician Dixie Lark, her brother Dallas, and the man that she has loved for close to ten years Gavin Garrison. Dixie, Dallas and Gavin make up the band Leaving Amarillo.

Told from first person point of view (Dixie) LEAVING AMARILLO follows the Dixie, Dallas and Gavin as they wander the minefield of musical stardom. A chance entry into a five day music festival finds the trio on the cusp of making it big but Dixie begins to feel uneasy when their new manager makes a change to the direction of the band.

Meanwhile, Dixie’s relationship with Gavin takes a step towards something sexual when Dixie offers Gavin one night-no strings- knowing that there will never be any going back once the couple have crossed the line between friendship and sex. Gavin has loved Dixie since the day that they met but a warning from Dixie’s brother not to cross the proverbial line has found Gavin on the outside looking in. Gavin’s earlier years are heartbreaking and traumatic, and he has always had Dallas and Dixie at his back but changes in the band will find our hero losing everything he has always wanted when the band’s new manager pulls the members apart before they have a chance to make it big.

LEAVING AMARILLO is the introductory storyline that focuses on heartbreak and betrayal; anguish and regret; loving and letting go. Caisey Quinn writes an emotional tale that will merit a tear or two for a woman whose life is about to change when the man that she loves searches for his future in another direction. LEAVING AMARILLO is an entertaining and enjoyable storyline about two tortured souls whose lives are about to change.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 16, 2015

Dallas Lark is so close to achieving his dream of making it big in country music that he can taste it. Arriving in Nashville after signing with sexy, successful manager Mandy Lantram, his life goes from tragedy and turmoil to one lucky break after another—except it isn’t really luck because Dallas has sacrificed everything for his career, leaving behind his band, sister, best friend, and high school sweetheart, Robyn, in the pursuit of fame.

Robyn Breeland is a successful marketing coordinator and promotions specialist for a thriving liquor distributor out of Texas. She loves every aspect of her job: coming up with new ideas, traveling, hosting promotional parties and exclusive events—until it brings her face-to-face with the man who broke her heart, prompting her to erect a steel cage around it.

When their paths collide and they’re forced to work together, Dallas and Robyn realize that the old spark they thought they’d extinguished might still be a burning flame.

•••••••••

REVIEW: LOVING DALLAS is the second installment in Caisey Quinn’s new adult, contemporary Neon Dream romance series focusing on the members of the band Leaving Amarillo. This is lead singer and guitarist Dallas Lark, and marketing coordinator Robyn Breeland’s storyline. LOVING DALLAS can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading the series in order.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Dallas and Robyn) LOVING DALLAS is a second chance storyline for two people torn apart by secrets and lies. Several years earlier Leaving Amarillo were about to head out on tour, and Robyn backed out at the last minute saying it was Dallas’s chance to make it big, and she wasn’t going to ruin his chances of success. Fast forward to present day where Robyn is now the marketing and promotions coordinator for Dallas’s tour-a tour that finds Dallas alone on stage without his original band. What ensues is a rebuilding relationship between Dallas and Robyn-a relationship mired in secrets, jealousy and another potential threat from an outside source-Dallas’s manager continues to interfere in his private life-pushing our hero towards the top of the charts.

Dallas and Robyn were high school sweethearts who promised one another the world. But the summer following graduation found Robyn looking at a different future-one that involved a family emergency back home. As Robyn said goodbye to Dallas Lark, Dallas believed everything about his love for Robyn had been a lie. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense. Robyn and Dallas have several years of makeup $ex to explore.

LOVING DALLAS is a fast paced story of second chances; a tale about fated lovers who will reconnect after several years apart. The premise is impassioned; the characters are tragic and intense; the happily ever after is a long time coming.

Guest Post

A NOTE FROM CAISEY QUINN

When I look back on the year it took to write this series, it feels like a blur. A beautiful, bright, neon lit blur. I have to confess that I didn’t know exactly how the Neon Dreams series would end when I began writing it. I knew the band would finally make it big. I knew that they would never want to share their backstory but that it would be a story worth telling. What I didn’t know was how real their hearts and souls would become to me. While Liam may not be Dixie and Gavin’s biological son, I did learn this year that family truly does come in the form of people who love and support you in both the best and worst of times and that it’s not always comprised of people who are related by blood or marriage. Liam was born from that discovery.

When Dallas went on the road and Dixie stayed behind, some people were outright angry. I was. At both of them. I was confused about why this felt right. I didn’t know Liam existed yet. I didn’t know he was going to be wandering by an old house in the backside of Amarillo alone and afraid. I didn’t realize that Dixie had to be there giving piano lessons to other kiddos so that Liam would hear and be drawn to her.
Everyone was exactly where they needed to be—even when I hadn’t yet realized it.

So my first big thank you is for you, for those of you who read this series and allowed me to figure it out as I went. For each of you who leaves a review somewhere—anywhere—and tells a friend to read it, thank you times two. Times ten. Times infinity, as my daughter says.
My second thank you is to my editor, Amanda, who didn’t tell me to take a hike when Liam entered the picture and it meant a rewrite of the second half of the book and that I wouldn’t make my initial deadline. I love you. I thank God for you, for your always having my back and for allowing me to write the story I believed in, the way that I needed to write it.

Thank you to my agent, Kevan, for also not dropping the crazy lady who said “So . . . my life is a mess and I need this book to go a different way and I am going to hunker down into the bat cave until I get it right.” Promise not to do that again . . . at least not on purpose.
To the members of CQ’s Road Crew and the Backwoods Belles, you ladies have been my family this year. You have been my light in the darkness, pulling me out of one of the toughest and most devastating situations I’ve ever been in. I literally don’t know if I could do my job without your unconditional love and support. Scratch that. I couldn’t. I know I couldn’t. Same goes for the bloggers who share, review, post, and rant and rave about all the book things. I love y’all. To the moon and back and around again.

To the amazing authors I am blessed to call colleagues and friends, thank you. I don’t know what I did to deserve you, to even get to know you much less read your work and have my books read and loved on by you, but I’m glad I did it—whatever it was!

Lastly, to anyone who supports music and musicians in general, thank you for existing. Music matters. The epilogue from Liam is very much nonfiction in my world, and I have someone I love dearly that I believe was saved by music. You know that feeling you get when you hear that song—that one that causes you to step off the treadmill or pull the car over or freeze in place and hold your breath and strain to hear because it reaches that deep, dark, hidden place where your secrets dwell—it’s a real, tangible thing, that feeling. It connects us—especially when we are positive no one else in the entire world could possibly understand what we’re going through. And let’s face it, life is better with a soundtrack.

Thank you to every single person who had a hand in helping this series about a small-town ragtag band become more than I ever dreamed it could be.

Thank you for making my dreams come true.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 27, 2015

Samantha Dunbar needs to forget Gibson Andrews. When he trained her to be a domme, she experienced just how hot things could get with the sexy executive. She was ready to hand him everything—including her heart. But Gibson backed away, declaring them incompatible. He’s a dominant, and Sam’s no submissive.

But after an attack shakes Sam to her core, Gibson tracks her down at her family’s rundown farmhouse and makes her an offer. He’ll stay the week and be hers in every way—a helping hand for the renovation and a willing lover in her bed. He swore he’d never give up control to anyone again, but he hasn’t been able to touch another woman since Sam. Maybe a week alone with her will cure him of his relentless craving.

But one taste only makes them want more, and Sam and Gibson are drawn in deeper than ever. The man who won’t give in has just met the girl who won’t give up…

•••••••••••

REVIEW: BREAK ME DOWN follows the D/s relationship between Domme Samantha Dunbar, and her reluctant submissive Gibson Andrews. Gibson is a dominant at the local BDSM Club-The Ranch- but his fantasies find our hero in a position of submission especially as it pertains to Samantha Dunbar-a Domme whose need to dominate and control is beyond anything Gibson has experienced. What ensues is the break down of a man’s control, and a woman’s emotional and psychological need to dominate.

BREAK ME DOWN is a tale of erotica; of sexual, emotional and physical domination by a woman over a man with some dubious consent, and a rape fantasy with the female in the position of the aggressor. Gibson is a man with a past darkened by a controlling father; and Samantha is a woman whose past is mired in betrayal and abuse. Both our of leading characters act out their sexual aggression and fantasies both in and out of the bedroom but for all intents and purpose I felt a line was crossed when the fantasies and sexual domination became more about the power over someone else. Rape is about power, control and anger, and in this, our heroine was acting out against her own perpetrators who, years earlier, took away Samantha’s choices and control. The sado-masochist theme is strong throughout the storyline. There is also a questionable scene where the ‘safe word’ was ignored, and emotional threats against our hero, once again, stepped over the proverbial line.

I have enjoyed Roni Loren’s LOVING ON THE EDGE erotic romance series but BREAK ME DOWN was an uncomfortable read for me with so many questions of consent and coercion. The use of ‘force’ is questioned by the characters, and although the Domme, in the end, refuses to ‘force’ her submissive, the fear and anxiety about the potential situation is a part of the storyline-none the less.

BREAK ME DOWN is a sexually graphic storyline with contents that me be unsuitable for some readers. Gibson Andrews is a submissive who thrives on the pain inflicted by the woman that he loves; Samantha Dunbar is a Domme who must be in control and hold the power at all times but in the end, Sam knows when enough is enough.

The floors creaked as he made his way back to the front of the house. He examined the dining room with critical eyes. It looked like one small patch of floor was left. Sam had been close to done when he’d interrupted last night. Yet another valid reason for her to be mad at him.

He squatted down and picked up the sanding machine. It’d been a while since he’d tackled any home improvement projects. His position as head of PR at Vandergriff kept him too busy. But when he’d first bought his house, it had been in pretty rough shape. He’d taken on weekend projects to get it how he wanted it. He’d learned a lot and messed up more. A handyman, he was not. But he understood the satisfaction Sam probably got from doing this herself. It could be cathartic.

“I don’t suggest you turn that on unless you know what to do with it,” Sam said from behind him.

He turned around, finding her at the bottom of the stairs, raven hair damp and twisted into a messy bun atop her head. Face scrubbed clean. She looked so young standing there. He was used to seeing her with her dark eyeliner and hair done in some quirky way. But this version of her was just as breath-stealing. He held up the sander. “Don’t turn it on unless I know what to do with it. There’s a dirty joke in there.”

She smirked, some of that trademark attitude back, despite the lingering ghosts in her eyes. “So do you? Know what to do?”

“With a woman or home improvement equipment?”

“I already know you know what to do with a woman.”

He tilted his head. Flirty Sam. Yes. Yes, he liked this. “I’m not quite as skilled with machinery, but I can hold my own. Why? Gonna put me to work to earn my keep?”

She walked forward, her beat-up Vans silent on the floors. “Hmm, now there’s an idea.”

The tone of her voice had slipped into a dangerous place, one he recognized. One his body recognized. “I don’t mind helping.”

She tucked her hands in the back pockets of her jeans, her vintage No Doubt T-shirt stretching thin across her breasts as she considered him. “Is that right?”

He lost his focus for a moment just looking at her. Her shirt read Just A Girl, but that was far from the truth. She was so much more. A fucking mystery wrapped up in smarts and sex appeal and kink. He’d only gotten to touch her once, but he hadn’t forgotten how those pert breasts had felt in his palms, how her body had responded to his touch, how it had seemed like the goddamned sun had come out when he’d made her come. His blood rushed south at the memory, and he had to shift his stance to tamp down the reaction. How big of an asshole would he be, getting hard and horny the morning after Sam had been attacked? He cleared his throat. “Yeah, I can help with whatever you need.”

Her smile was quick, not too big, but enough to punch him in the gut. “Those are mighty vague terms, Gib. You should know how dangerous that is in negotiations. I could make you strip naked and clean the bathroom grout with a toothbrush while I sip iced tea and watch.”

He set down the sander and ran a hand over the back of his hair. She’d meant it as a joke. He tried to smile but managed only a tight grimace. Any image where he got on his knees for her pushed that forbidden button inside him. “Right.”

The silver ring in her eyebrow twitched up as if she knew exactly what he’d been thinking. “Nah, never mind. I know how you can help. Leave.”

He’s the love of her life, but he doesn’t know it.
She’s his one moment of sacrifice in a lifetime of survival.

He was damaged and wild, but resilient.
She’s always been obedient. Now she’s restless.

Home for the summer between college and med school, Pearl Torres Frank knows two things: Boyce Wynn is the embodiment of everything she should run from, and everything she wants to run to. Rebellious and loud. Unconcerned with society’s opinion of him. Passionate. Strong. Dangerous.

And one more trait he hides from everyone but her: Sweet

•••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: SWEET is the third installment (and spinoff) in Tammara Webber’s contemporary, new adult Contours of the Heart romance series. This is university student Pearl Frank, and auto mechanic Boyce Wynn’s storylines. Although SWEET is the third book in the series, it can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from previous storylines is revealed where necessary.

Told from clear and concise alternating first person points of view (Pearl and Boyce) vacillating between the past and present through thoughts, flashbacks and memories SWEET follows a rekindling relationship/friends to lovers storyline between the soon to be twenty one year old Pearl and twenty three year old Boyce. When Pearl announces she is dropping medical school for marine biology, our heroine’s mother sends her only daughter packing. Homeless and with no available source of income, Pearl contacts Boyce Wynn-the man who, years before, saved not only her life but her heart and soul-wherein the romance and sexual relationship will begin to grow.

The friendship and connection between Pearl and Boyce has been growing since our heroine was five years old when a then seven year old Boyce rescued a drowning girl only to find himself falling in love from the very start. Through the years, Pearl would be drawn to Boyce, over and over again. Boyce was Pearl’s first and only true love, and in this, Boyce has always been her anchor and protector when the going gets tough. The $ex scenes are provocative and compelling. There is an absolute chemistry and sexual tension between our leading couple.

Boyce is a survivor; he and his older brother Brent were abandoned, by their mother, and left with their alcoholic and abusive father. When Brent entered the military, Boyce was left behind to pick up the pieces of his life and his father’s auto mechanic business. Fast forward and Boyce, once again, finds himself alone except for the one bright light in his life-Pearl Frank-and when it comes to Pearl, Boyce wears his heart on his sleeve. When Boyce’s mother resurfaces, our hero knows it is time to move on.

Several of the secondary and supporting characters include Boyce’s friends- Landon/Lucas Maxfield from the original Contours of the Heart series, and Randy Thompson; Boyce’s new mechanic in training Sam, and Boyce’s long lost mother Ruthanne. We are introduced to Pearl’s parents Dr. Thomas and Essie Frank; her BFF Melody Dover who is the bane of Lucas and Boyce’s existence; some of Pearl’s fellow marine biology students, and Pearl’s ex boyfriend Mitchell who is having a difficult time letting go.

SWEET is a wonderful storyline; an emotion laden tale about two friends from different backgrounds who never stopped loving one another over the years. The colorful characters are engaging, enjoyable and charismatic. Boyce and Pearl’s relationship is intimate, passionate and hopeful; from wondrous childhood dreams to sexually intense scenes of romance and imagination Tammara Webber pulls the reader into a storyline that will take hold and never let go.

In four years, nothing had erased or even dimmed my memories of Boyce. His kiss. His touch. The disorienting intensity of his gaze. I was a different person now, and so was he, but apparently those transformations didn’t matter to this thing I felt. For my heart, he was a grounding wire, the needle of a compass, a gravitational pull.
Of all the possible scenarios I’d imagined for this summer, living in a trailer with Boyce Wynn hadn’t been one of them. A trailer that at the moment contained one bed. “I guess I’ll just sleep—”
“In my bed.”
The hand gesturing toward the living room froze midair. I’ve heard people say My heart stopped—which of course isn’t possible unless you’ve just died—but I now understood where the perception might originate. “Uh.”
“I’ll take the sofa,” he said.
Embarrassment washed over me. He wasn’t propositioning me. He was being courteous. I lowered my hand, half-convinced I’d fallen into an alternate universe where my mother kicked me out of the house and Boyce Wynn was proper. “You don’t have to do that.”
He arched a brow, his eyes glowing with mischief. “You want me to sleep with you?”
Or not.

Yours to HoldABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 24, 2015

Years ago, golden-boy Kyle Archer left Ribbon Ridge without a word. Now, with heartbreak on the verge of tearing his family apart, the black sheep is back and he’s determined to earn their trust by uncovering the truth behind Alex’s death. But the moment he confronts Maggie Trent—the therapist his parents blame for the tragedy—Kyle is stunned by his powerful attraction to the beautiful doctor… and drawn to her like no woman he’s ever met before.

When gorgeous, charismatic Kyle approaches Maggie about his brother’s death, she agrees to help him search for answers. And as they piece together Alex’s last days, their undeniable chemistry turns too hot to ignore. After their relationship becomes more serious than either anticipated, Kyle may be forced to choose between the woman he’s desperate to hold on to and the family he almost let slip away.

•••••••••••••••

REVIEW: YOURS TO HOLD is the second full length installment in Darcy Burke’s contemporary adult Ribbon Ridge romance series focusing on the Archer family sextuplets (Evan, Sara, Alex, Tori, Kyle & Liam) of Ribbon Ridge and their younger brother Hayden. This is chef and Archer family black sheep Kyle Archer, and therapist Maggie Trent’s storyline. The Archer family owns several successful breweries and pubs, and most of the siblings play a role in the daily business operations. YOURS TO HOLD takes place a few months after the events of books 1-Only in My Dreams-as the family begins preparations for Derek and Chloe’s wedding and rebuilding the old Monastery left to the siblings in Alex’s will. Derek is the Archer family’s ‘adopted’ son. The series should be read in order as each timeline follows on the events of the previous book.

Told from alternating third person perspectives, the storyline follows Kyle’s investigation into his brother Alex’s suicide and the first person he is going to confront is Alex’s therapist Maggie Trent. Maggie closed up practice and moved out of town within days of Alex’s death, and Kyle is determined to place blame directly on Maggie’s lap. What ensues is a building relationship between Kyle and Maggie as they begin a search for the person responsible for supplying Alex with a means to end his life. But Kyle has a secret of his own; one that has caused a major tear in the family and sent Kyle in search of a new start in life. After a four year absence Kyle’s returns comes with accusations and family tension, and yet he is still unwilling to reveal the truth behind the reason he left.

The relationship between Kyle and Maggie begins acrimoniously as Kyle is determined to blame Maggie and find fault with her therapy methods. His need to uncover the truth behind his brother’s death finds our hero at continuous odds with both Maggie and his family. As their relationship turns sexual, Kyle is reluctant to reveal her true identity to the family knowing that her presence in their lives will only cause more heartache and blame. The $ex scenes are seductive, provocative and emotional; Maggie is caught between professional ethics and a relationship with Kyle Archer.

The entire Archer family is present as they prepare for the upcoming nuptials of Derek and Chloe, although family matriarch Emily Archer remains in France with her youngest child Hayden. The family dynamics are stressful and heartbreaking; there are a number of emotional, physical and mental issues the family continuously endures- most likely due to the early birth of the sextuplets. In this, there is plenty of anxiety and problematic scenarios addressed throughout the series. The Archer’s are a once close-knit family whose secrets are slowly revealing-one child at a time.

YOURS TO HOLD is an emotional storyline. Before his death, Alex Archer wrote a letter to each family member, in the hopes that lessons learned will begin to heal their broken hearts. Kyle received his letter following his admission and reconciliation with his father. Each letter is heartbreaking, tear inducing and painfully honest; there is an intimacy between siblings in death that was never there in life.

Darcy Burke will astonish you with her remarkable and realistic look at the dysfunctional family dynamics of the Archers of Ribbon Ridge. There are moments of incredible family love and support followed by accusations, jealousy and intense pain. The RIBBON RIDGE series is passionate and addicting; Darcy Burke will pull you into a world of emotional highs and lows. You will want to return to Ribbon Ridge again and again.

Only in my DreamsABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 17, 2015

Fed up with her self-imposed single life, successful event planner Sara Archer heads to a bar for a night of dancing … and bumps into Dylan Wescott, the high school crush she hasn’t seen in years. A little harmless flirting leads to a hot, completely uncharacteristic one-night stand; but when she wakes up alone, Sara knows her life is too complicated for a relationship and there can’t be a repeat.

Dylan, a divorced, ex-military construction contractor, limits himself to casual flings—his failed marriage proves he’s better off alone anyway—but he can’t stop dreaming about Sara. And when his firm is hired to oversee the renovation project run by the Archer siblings, Dylan and Sara are unable to resist their explosive chemistry.

But when their secret affair grows beyond “friends with benefits” and neither is willing to admit they want more, family drama and emotional scars may ruin their chance at a love they believed was only in their dreams.

•••••••••••

REVIEW: ONLY IN MY DREAMS is the second installment in Darcy Burke’s contemporary, adult Ribbon Ridge romance series focusing on the Archer Sextuplets of Ribbon Ridge. The Archer family owns several successful breweries and pubs, and most of the siblings play a role in the daily business operations. This is event planner Sara Archer and construction contractor Dylan Wescott’s storyline.

Told from alternating third person perspectives the storyline follows the building relationship between Sara and Dylan- a friends with benefits situation-that becomes more secretive when Dylan’s construction company is hired by the Archer clan to renovate a monastery bequeathed to the siblings. Each sibling has been assigned a task, as per the request of the will, and in this the family dynamics begin to crumble when each member has his or her reasons to back out and pull away.

ONLY IN MY DREAMS follows a family struggling with suicide; a death nobody foresaw but one that has affected Sara most of all. Sara is a woman who suffers with SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder) and struggles with the environment around her. The tragic death finds Sara returning home to oversee the coordination of the events program in the newly renovated monastery. From there, Sara’s personal business begins to fail, and the Archer family dynamics spiral out of control. The one constant is her –former one night stand/no strings attached- relationship with Dylan Wescott that soon turns into something more. But when Dylan realizes that sex with the boss may affect his future employment, he stops at nothing to put an end to what they had already started.

ONLY IN MY DREAMS has a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters. We are reintroduced to the entire Archer clan-a set of sextuplets (Evan, Sara, Alex, Tori, Kyle & Liam) and their younger brother Hayden made famous by a television reality show ‘Seven is Enough’ that placed the family front and center on the entertainment pages, along with their ‘foster’ brother Derek (Where The Heart Is .5). There are secrets and misunderstandings shrouding the family happiness; even the parental units are no longer communicating following the death of one of their own.

The storyline ends with a happily ever after, but it was a struggle seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Dylan and Sara continued to push and pull at one another for a majority of the story, while Sara’s siblings fought constantly about control and issues of the past. I can understand why some of the siblings needed to take a break and walk away. A death affects everyone differently; a suicide leaves too many unanswered questions and blame.

ONLY IN MY DREAMS is a well written, emotional and powerful tale; a tragedy that continues to tear apart a family that now struggles with the loss and unanswered questions. Darcy Burke brings drama, passion and heartbreaking pain to a storyline that will captivate your imagination.

But this year he meets the fun and sexy Chloe, whose optimism and sense of joy are incredibly contagious. Can she help him face his bleak past so they can forge a happy future?

••••••••••••••••

REVIEW: WHERE THE HEART IS is the first installment (novella) in Darcy Burke’s Ribbon Ridge romance series focusing on the Archer sextuplets (Evan, Sara, Alex, Tori, Kyle & Liam) of Ribbon Ridge and their younger brother Hayden. This is the Archer family best friend and Archer Industries CFO Derek Sumner, and art teacher Chloe English’s storyline. The timeline follows a few weeks prior to the Christmas holidays wherein Chloe finds herself homeless and dependent upon the charity of friends.

Told from alternating third person perspectives WHERE THE HEART IS introduces the reader to the well-to-do and successful Archer family of Ribbon Ridge including the infamous sextuplets who, as children and tweens, were featured in a reality television series Seven is Enough. The Archer family own a series of microbreweries and pubs, and in this Archer Industries has been established. The focus of the storyline follows the Archer family’s ‘foster son’ Derek Sumner-a volunteer firefighter, amongst other noteworthy professions- as he embarks on a relationship with the woman whose burned out apartment finds her in desperate need of housing and friends.

Derek will introduce Chloe English to the Archer family who welcome the young woman like one of their own. When the Archer family patriarch Robert, reminds Derek that his own family home is currently available for the now homeless Chloe, Derek’s own horrific memories of the past begin to overwhelm and take control.

The relationship between Chloe and Derek is very quick to develop-one of instant attraction, lust and love that is tempered by Derek’s constant need to run when memories of the past haunt his thoughts. Offering Chloe his family home sets into motion a series of misunderstandings and heartbreak as Derek runs when the going gets tough. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative but I did take issue with the lack of condoms.

The Archer family of Ribbon Ridge is not perfect. They are a close knit family but due to the inherent and potential issues with multiple births-and in this case 6 babies at once-the now adult sextuplets are not without some emotional, mental and physical problems including OCD, Asperger’s syndrome, SPD (Sensory Processing Disorder), chronic lung disease and depression. Each storyline will end with a happily ever after but getting there will be heartbreaking and emotional.

WHERE THE HEART IS is a quick read; a novella length storyline that introduces the Archer family with all of their quirks and problems, issues and struggles, and the never ending stream of people who come and go in their lives. Darcy Burke does a fantastic job building a world where the potential for future storylines is but a heartbreak away. A passionate, intelligent and intriguing look at an extraordinary family trying to maintain an ordinary life.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 15, 2015

“She’s beauty for my ashes. And I’m hope for her heartache.”—Cole Danzer.

I don’t know what makes a great love story. Is it that instant attraction when boy meets girl? The passionate kisses and the fairy-tale ending? Or is it a lifetime of tragedy, paid in advance, for a few stolen moments of pure bliss? The pain and the suffering that, in the end, you can say are worth it for having found the missing piece of your soul?

The answer is: I don’t know. I don’t know what makes a great love story. I only know what makes my love story. I only know that finding Cole when I did, when Emmy and I were running from a nightmare, was the only thing that saved me. That saved us. He was more broken than I was, but somehow we took each other’s shattered pieces and made a whole. If that is what makes a great love story, if that is what makes an epic romance, then mine…ours is the greatest of them all.

•••••••••••••

REVIEW: POCKETFUL OF SAND is the latest romantic, contemporary, adult storyline from author M. Leighton. This is former pro football star Cole Danzer and single mother Eden Taylor’s storyline.

Told from alternating first person points of view (Eden and Cole) the focus of the storyline is the building relationship between two people who believe they are broken beyond repair. Both with painful, heartbreaking backstories that have all but destroyed each of their lives, our hero and heroine have struggled with haunting memories, grief and guilt.

Eden and her daughter Emmy are new to Miller’s Pond-a shy, quiet seaside town of 2000 inhabitants. On the run, Eden is determined to keep Emmy safe and protected. Meeting Cole Danzer was never in the cards but Eden is drawn to the reclusive, former football player whose heart and soul are shattered by the past. Cole wants nothing to do with relationships or love but meeting Eden gives Cole a hope for the future.

The secondary and supporting characters include some of the people from Miller’s Pond including brother and sister duo Jordan and Jason Bailey as well as a few regulars at the local restaurant and café.

We are privy to Eden and Cole’s histories through reflection and memory-each relating their experiences and nightmares about the past and the present. Eden is determined to keep Emmy safe while Cole is determined never again to lose his heart.

M. Leighton pulls the reader into an intense, emotional and heartbreaking story where the trauma of the past continues to haunt the present. POCKETFUL OF SAND is captivating, compelling and seductive; the hero and heroine are passionate, broken and tragic. When fated lovers meet, anything is possible to overcome, including that which we believe is insurmountable and lost.

A Single Kiss

Amazon.com / Barnes and Noble / KOBO / The Book Depository

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date January 6, 2015

A single kiss can change everything…

In the first novel of the Sweetest Kisses series, Hannah Stark has set her sights on corporate law to assure her a career of paperwork, predictability, and conservative suits. Contracts, finance, and the art of the deal sing to her, while the mess and misery of the courtroom do not. But her daughter needs to eat, so when Hannah is offered a temporary position in a small town firm’s domestic relations department, she reluctantly accepts.

Trent Knightley is mightily drawn to his newest associate, though Hannah is as protective of her privacy as she is competent. When their friendship and attraction heat up, Hannah’s secrets put her heart and Trent’s hopes in double jeopardy.

•••••••••••••••

4.5 out of 5 for this reader folks!

Ok .. so … as many of you know Grace Burrowes is one of my absolute fave historical romance authors. When this book came to me and I learned it was contemporary I have to admit I was very hesitant (disclaimer … historical’s are preferred to contemporaries where my tastes are concerned). I know what to expect with her historical romances and I was fearful that a contemporary would taint my beloved historical writer. NOPE .. NOT AT ALL! As hesitant as I was, it did not take long for me to settle in and come to love and recognize the way Grace writes. Seriously I adore this woman!

Hannah is a single mom, lawyer, has an unfortunate past in the foster system as a child, and is looking to make a better life for her family. Although she isn’t interested in practising family law (she is hoping to go down the corporate road), she finds a job in just that .. family law. Hating that she will see other families dragged through the system in way she was, she puts on her big girl panties and decides to deal.

Trent is one of the brothers who run this firm and just so happens to be a book boyfriend I’d like to tuck away for a real crummy day. He is WONDERFUL and so ideal for Hannah. Smart, straight shooting without insult, handsome, strong, opinionated and able to back up his statements with fact, he is Hannah’s perfect guy. He is also clearly into her and although fraternization is a no no, these two really have no choice but to go “there”.

Hannah and her daughter have secrets though, and this prevents Hannah from fully letting Trent get in. I love that Grace Burrowes didn’t spill the beans right away about this past, leaving a bit of a mystery for the reader to guess at. The contemporary issues were real and completely believable adding to this story. I only knocked off 0.5 because I have given all her other books 5 (again historical is my fave) and I cannot say I loved this one as much as I do her historical’s. Maybe that isn’t fair, but it’s how I feel!

A great start to another fabo series by Grace Burrowes. I will ABSOLUTELY be reading the remainder of this series. If you love a good contemporary that touches on domestic family issues with a side of law and love, give this book a read!

HAPPY READING! 🙂

Q&A

Three Questions With Grace Burrowes

1. What challenges or difficulties (research, logistics, background) did you encounter while writing A Single Kiss?

One of the heroine’s heartaches is that she was raised in foster care, and never developed much of a support network. Hannah is trying to remain emotionally self-sufficient but so, so tempted by the respect and trust the hero offers her.
From an author’s perspective, Hannah had no sidekick, nobody to process with, and that could have meant a lot of internal reflection, if other characters weren’t drafted into temporary duty.

2. When writing the storyline, did the characters direct the writing or did you direct the characters?

I have my ideas about how things should proceed, but invariably, the characters come up with better material.

3. What three things would you like to accomplish in the next five years?

I’m not that attached to goals. I’d like to write books that people enjoy, be a loving member of the species, and not burden anybody unnecessarily.

excerpt

James stood beside Mac at the window in Mac’s office, watching the head of the domestic relations department escort his newest associate to her car.

“Why isn’t that idiot sneaking in a little kiss here and there?” James asked. “He’s not even touching her. Didn’t offer his arm, hasn’t got his hand on her
back.”

“Some of us appreciate a more subtle approach,” Mac said. “Some of us with a little discretion and tact.”

“I about sat her in my lap at lunch earlier this week. She said I was flirting my eyelashes off, and laughed at me.”

“Laughed?” By a little blue Prius, Trent handed Hannah her briefcase. “You have my condolences, James. You must be losing your touch. We depend on you to carry
the Knightley standard into the bedroom of western Maryland, but it looks as if at long last – well, one hopes it’s
long last-”

“Shut up,” James smacked Mac’s shoulder for good measure. “It’s just as long and lasting as it ever was, but Hannah Stark has been inoculated against my devastating
charms by the only thing that has ever protected a female from falling for me.”

“Common sense?” Mac drawled. “A functioning brain? A sense of humor? An accurately calibrated ruler?”

“She’s fallen for him,” James said, gesturing towards the parking lot. “We have reason to hope.”

••••••••••••••••••••••

REVIEW:

I just have to say, as much as I do love my paranormal and fantasy genre books, these sports themed stories by Jaci Burton are fast becoming my 2nd favourite genre. I just love her Play-by-Play series and Holiday on Ice is a nice addition to this very hot and steamy series. This novella is Stella and Trick’s story, and we were introduced to them in Melting the Ice. Even though Stella and Trick were secondary characters in Melting the Ice, it was very plain to see the chemistry and connection these two characters had with one another and I was very glad to see Ms. Burton has written a novella for them. Their story is one about love and hope lost, heartache, learning to believe in love and hope again, and going for what you truly believe in.

Stella and Trick are not only perfect for each other, but they burn up the pages in this one. Seriously, I don’t know how Ms. Burton’s keyboard, computer screen, etc, don’t catch fire when she writes this series. Her heroine and hero are combustible in this one, just like all her previous books in this series. The sexual chemistry sizzles through the pages between Trick and Stella from their first scene together when they walk back into each other’s lives.

Trick always knew there was something special about Stella and seeing her again, only proves to him he wants her back in his life on a permanent basis. He’s ready to leave behind his playboy image and get serious with one women, Stella. Now if only he can convince her of this. Stella having been badly hurt where love and her heart are concerned, doesn’t want to tread back into that area because it’s just too painful. However, seeing Trick again, and spending time with him is making it harder for her to keep her motto of, love’em and leave’em.

The romance between Stella and Trick is steamy to say the least, but also has a very sweet and charming side to it as well. Trick is the perfect hero, he’s strong, sexy as hell, charming, understanding and very patient with Stella. He knows she needs time and space and doesn’t rush her into anything. He knows she’s always had one foot out the door in this ‘relationship’ cause she refuses to call it a relationship. After a misunderstanding and coaxing from Trick, Stella finally opens up to him about her past relationship and love. The scene where they finally admit they love each other, and then when Stella opens up to Trick about her past are perfectly written. They were sweet, touching and very heartfelt. Having their story centered around the Christmas season is just the right touch. It gave them the chance to spend time together Christmas tree shopping, decorating the tree, playing in the snow, going ice skating and just having fun, falling in love with each other during a special time of the year and seeing what it would be like to be with that person everyday for the rest of their lives. These scenes just added another layer to a beautifully, charming and steamy storyline. Oh and lets not forget the hockey scenes. Since this is a sports themed story, and our hero is a sexy hockey player, those scenes were supercharged with engery and action and made me feel like I was sitting at Trick’s games with Stella cheering him on. What can I say, there’s just something about a man in a hockey uniform that gets me going. 😉

Once again Jaci Burton has written a fun, sexy, steamy, and fast paced story about romance, love and hockey. It kept me involved from start to finish, and made me feel like I was sitting in my local hockey arena cheering on my team. I just love these sports themed romances, and mixing in a little Christmas magic to this one was sheer perfection on Ms. Burton’s part IMO. Who can resist a sexy hockey player anyway. 😉

Until next time, happy reading and Merry Christmas everyone!!!

REVIEW: Has this bone chilling weather been leaving you feeling down or trapped indoors unable to go out for some fun? Well worry not my peeps! Curl up with this cute yet sexy book, a warm fleece throw, and most importantly a hot toddy laced with rum and why not top that off with lots of whipped cream? Might as well splurge on this guilty pleasure.

Enjoy this fast paced read with Jamie Fielding and Wyatt Tremaine who are in the wrong relationships run into each other. The chemistry and attraction is instant. I admit at first I thought it was Jamie being emotionally vulnerable since her boyfriend bailed on her and filled her with doubt whether he is faithful to her or not but as the book goes on you realize her boyfriend is a mega jerk to her that she should’ve of chucked the guy sooner. The same goes for Wyatt, his girlfriend came off as a conceited, egotistical Barbie doll who loves herself too much to love anyone else.

Even though this book is really short at a whopping 50 some pages, the author makes up for intensity of the attraction and the couple love scene. She also has some very likeable elements. I really appreciated that Jamie was relatable. I like that the woman was voluptuous with curves because us average women need love too. Both Jamie and Wyatt were likeable though I would’ve desired to get to know them more had the book been longer.

Overall this book was a fun and sexy play on fantasies. So if anyone ever fantasized about being with a hot doctor or canoodling with a lover in a comfy ski cabin then this is your chicken soup right here.
