ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 11, 2024

I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth.

Mine was gold, diamond encrusted, and held in place by household staff.

With a trust fund I’d never be able to blow through, I didn’t need to work a day in my life. I sure as hell didn’t need the kind of job I had.

But I wasn’t in it for the money. It was for personal satisfaction. A love of a job well done. What’s that saying about never working a day in your life if you love breaking fingers and burying bodies where they’ll never be found?

I might be paraphrasing, but it was still the truth.

My boss’ wife called me a goon—and she wasn’t wrong. As second-in-command, I did whatever needed to keep Black Resorts running smoothly. That often included the aforementioned violence since Vegas wasn’t short on people who deserved it.

The rarity was those who deserved protection.

Like Mila.

Liar. Thief. And my little ray of pessimistic sunshine.

Her spoon wasn’t silver. Hell, it wasn’t even a spoon. It was a plastic spork that she hustled and fought for, and she’d always done it alone.

But that changed the second she nearly passed out in my arms.

She called me a behemoth.

I wanted her to call me Daddy.

REVIEW:Little Sunshine is the second installment in the Black Resorts series by the brilliant Layla Frost. As a long time fan of this author, I recommend reading book one in the series before dipping your toes in with Ash and Mila, while it is not required, the book can be read as a standalone, but one is just as yummy. Little Sunshine is a slow burn, age gap, BDSM romance.

Mila life has its own personal little black rain cloud 🌧️ that has followed her around since…well birth if I think about it. Her Mom is the worst, and with her latest round of crazy has put poor Mila in one of the worst positions ever. A position of desperation. One that leads her to do something so stupid, but even more, it may have just saved her life. After getting caught stealing at her job, she is caught by Daddy Ash, insisting she return what she took, Mila takes off. Fight or flight and all that right? Too bad for Mila though, flight is always her go to. Now don’t get this story wrong, Daddy Ash isn’t a knight in shining armor. He is an anti-hero through and through, but one in designer suits and ready and willing to get his hands dirty for her.

Throughout this slow burn romance, I was waiting for a few things to happen and when they did, boy oh boy was the slow burn worth the wait! When Mila FINALLY stands up to her hella shady Mother was one of the best parts of this book lol Seeing Mila learn to trust Ash, and him finally earning that trust from her was so so good. And lets not forget the spice that this book has because of course there is plenty, the rope play was personally a hand fanning moment for me. Overall I can both read and feel how much love and care Ms. Author put into her work and I am so pleased to have read it. If you love an anti-hero who will do anything for his love, Daddy/Dom play and a HEA then this is definitely the read for you!

REVIEW: A well thought out book, with a plot that is fast paced, full of twists and OMG moments!

Leila is the town healer, but she hides a huge secret, the only other person who knows this is her closest and only true friend. Being a blood mage has her hiding her ability, it’s a rare calling. Her blood can heal. So it makes her valuable, vulnerable and in her eyes just a commodity!

The story starts with a claim that the lost princess has been found and is being held hostage! It makes Leila chuckle, but mirth soon disperses and in its place is worry and caution. The Crimson Clan are coming to her town, and with their arrival, her world that she has created, slowly unravels!!

Hiding for ten long years from (we find out eventually) her past, Leila has worked hard to conceal her actual identity. So when the Crimson Clan come, it confirms her worse nightmare, then twist one comes into play….

There is a lot going on in this book, it actually felt longer than it was. Twists/turns/betrayal and allies who aren’t really what they seem! The book takes you on a rollercoaster of a ride. Your emotions will be all over the place by the time you read the last page. I didn’t leave it alone until I hit the last jaw dropping page….

You have to admire Leila as the hits just keep coming. She’s a loyal and compassionate character. So to hide from her family had to have been hard (although after reading certain parts of the book I do understand why) 🤫 people she thinks are friends betray her! And she’s even tortured by a so-called friend!

Ronan/Prince Caelan and even brother Prince Marcellus have roles to play. I’m not sure I really trust any of them at this point! But Leila can only see the good in them (that’s going to bite her on the a$$!!)

So, if you’re a fan of hidden identity, betrayal, romance and heavy on the angst then you are going to just inhale this book.

I’m looking to seeing where book two (Lost Heir) will take us.

REVIEW: Could not put this book down! It’s full of danger/intrigue/betrayal and twists. It has characters you will cheer for, and some you will want to see justice for how they treated leila.

This book picks up where the last book left off, so you definitely need to read them in order.

There are twists and betrayals almost from the beginning, we see characters true colours emerge (some will shock, others will have you saying to yourself that you were right not to trust them!)

And I was surprised at Leila’s parents. Her dad was great, her mother, well let’s put it this way, maternal feelings were definitely amiss!!

In this book, even more danger and intrigue are thrown at Leila! This character doesn’t really get a break!

I did get a little confused when characters kept calling Leila, Lyanna. But if you remember she’s in hiding, so took on an assumed name! 🤔

Leila wants to help Ronan, but when she does, all it does is put her life in peril!! But she’s resourceful (so I’m hoping there is a backup plan in place!)

We also see Leila slowly come into her power, her full potential isn’t there yet, but when it does, she’s going to be unstoppable.

I’m still on the fence about her brother (Prince Marcellus) and Prince Caelan, I’m waiting for them to choose what side they are really on! Ronan although part of the Crimson Clan (those want to rid the realm of Leila) is definitely trying to redeem himself with Leila. But it’s hard to trust someone that has betrayed you already!

But even Ronan will have to adjust to betrayal that is thrown his way! They really are going to have to work together to find away through this.)

Oh CLIFFHANGER warning!! It took me by surprise. And now I have to wait for the next book to find out what happens next!

So if you like an action-filled paranormal romance with lots going on, I highly recommend the previous book and this one. I don’t think you’ll be disappointed.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date June 10, 2024

She’s a sunny, sassy photographer.

Jolie Prescott has always been in love with love. She spent most of her life walking around with hearts in her eyes and immediately jumped at the chance to start a wedding planning company with her two best friends. So when her own fiancé called off their wedding and immediately started dating someone else, it was a major blow she never saw coming. The gossip about it finally starts to die down in her small town. Then her ex announced he’s engaged again. And his new fiancée just happens to be Jolie’s worst enemy. Which makes it really inconvenient that she can’t seem to stop thinking inappropriate thoughts about that woman’s moody half-brother.

He is the ultimate grump.

Vaughn Cavanagh never thought he’d set foot back in Pembrooke, Wyoming after moving away when he was thirteen, but when his father gets sick, he uproots his life to try to repair their frayed relationship. The only thing standing in his way is his spoiled brat half-sister, her determination to throw the ultimate wedding, and her beef with a certain wedding photographer he can’t get out of his head.

When one impulsive act leads to Vaughn announcing he and Jolie are dating, the two have no choice but to fake their relationship to save face. But when feelings enter the picture and lines start to blur, Vaughn has to decide if he’s willing to give up his quiet, solitary life and stay in Pembrooke for a woman he never intended to fall for, or if he’s going to risk losing everything because he’s too afraid to take that leap.

•••••

REVIEW: As a reader and a long time fangirl of JP’s books, I was over the moon to get my hands on the latest release of the Pembrooke saga. Should Have Been Me is book four in the series and can be read as standalone, but as always, I recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of it. SHBM is a grumpy-sunshine, fake dating romance that is sure to bring joy to all its readers. Not to mention the spice is just….yum!

Jolie is a girls girls, she has the best friends a girl could ask for, a family that loves and supports and a dream job that makes her happy. The only thing missing is love, a guy to spend that with. She had thought she found that in her ex, but nope, he turned out to be a total dud and not worth the years they spent together. Now she is focusing on her business that she and her two besties have, an event coordinating business with a focus on weddings. Life is good that is until her smooshy faced cat escapes and Mr. City Slicker crashes into her life.

Vaughn is a Pembrooke native, returned to his hometown to help his newly diagnosed father with her health. Over the years his relationship with his father took a hit, and the health scare gave him the much needed kick in the rear end to fix their relationship. Vaughn is cold, distant and grumpy and he is fine being that way, when you’re raised like the mother he had, there really isn’t any wonder. Determined to not let this change affect him or his work, Vaughn does his best to stay away from people and the town of Pembrooke, no use in getting comfortable when he isn’t staying for long.

Or so he thought.

Vaughn and Jolie are everything. They aren’t your typical relationship and I love that for them. Jolie doesn’t take Vaughn’s personality laying down, she thrives off it just like he does off hers. She doesn’t try to change him, she protects him and loves him the way he is and that is why their relationship works as well as it does. The goofy grin I had on my face for the majority of this book made me look all kinds of silly, but it was just that good. This couple proves that opposites not only attract, but make the best kinds of partners. Give me a guy that calls me Calamity any day of the week! Way to go to Ms. Author!

“Get it off!” His voice was muffled beneath Smoosh’s considerable fur. It might have been short, but it was thick as hell, and it looked like she was trying to suffocate the poor guy. “Getitoff, getitoff!”
I was trying, really, but the man’s flailing was making it difficult. “Smoosh, bad!” I scolded, reaching up and grabbing her around the middle. I gave her a tug, earning another one of those death screams as she dug her claws into his suit even deeper. Given my job, I’d seen my fair share of tuxes and suits, and I knew how to spot expensive fabric and high quality from a mile away, and the one this guy was wearing—that Smoosh was currently destroying—probably cost double my monthly mortgage payment.
That sound must have freaked the man out as much as it did me, because his flailing became more frantic. “What the hell is that?” I couldn’t see his face, thanks to my cat, but I could hear the panic in his voice. “Is this thing about to kill me? It’s trying to kill me, isn’t it?”
I tugged again, but the dude was so tall, it was difficult to get a good hold on her. “Just be still. And maybe crouch down for me. That’s it. A little lower,” I guided when he bent his knees so we were face to face—or face to cat fluff.
I wrapped an arm around her middle and really pulled. “Ah, fucking fuck! It’s clawing the shit out of me! Get it off, goddamn it!”
“I’m sorry. I’m sorry! Just hold on. I’ve got her.” Holding Smoosh by the middle with one arm, I used my hand to pry her claws out of the man’s wide shoulders. “Almost got her . . . there!” I let out a breath of relief once I managed to extract Smoosh’s claws from the expensive material and curled her up to my chest.
Just then, Tarryn came running up, the cat carrier swinging wildly from the handle she was gripping. “I got this!” she exclaimed proudly, hoisting the plastic bin that had caused all the problems to begin with. “Holy crap! That was insane! Your cat’s totally nuts, babe.”
From the sounds she was making, I knew Smoosh was gearing up for another meltdown, and I didn’t want to risk her getting free again. “Hurry up. Open the door!”
She flung it open, and I shoved the feline in, despite her wailing, slamming the door closed and latching it on a relieved breath. “Thank God that’s over,” I started as I turned back to the man, able to see his face for the first time. “I’m so so—” The apology died on my tongue, because holy chiseled perfection, Batman! This dude didn’t just have a body of sin packed into an expensive suit. He was freaking gorgeous.
His features were sharp and masculine, from his high, cut cheekbones to the straight ridge of his nose to a jaw that looked like it had been carved from marble. But his eyes hit me dead center in the chest and stole all the air right out of my lungs. I’d never seen eyes like his before. They weren’t blue or brown, but an insane combination of both, somehow. The color around the pupil was a gorgeous blue that reminded me of the clear turquoise waters of the Caribbean ocean, but the iris was rimmed with a band of burnt umber. His eyes reminded me of oxidized copper, trailing from dark to light, and were so unique, that even the rage in them just then didn’t detract from their beauty.
I shook myself out of my stupor and cleared my throat before trying again. “I’m really sorry about my cat messing up your suit, but thank you so much for stopping. I don’t know what I would have done if something happened to her.”
Unfortunately, when he opened his mouth and spoke, all that awe-inspiring beauty was clubbed to death like a caveman going to town on a woolly mammoth.
“I’ll tell you what would happen. The world would be a better place for it. That feral creature needs to be put down,” he declared, lips curled back from his teeth as he brushed fruitlessly at the front of his clothes—like brushing the cat hair off would undo the damage her claws or, what looked like an entire cup of coffee, had already done. “Do you have any clue how much this suit cost?”
“Uh . . .” I’d forgotten all about Tarryn standing there until that moment. She cleared her throat uncomfortably and reached to take the carrier from my hand. “I’ll just go put this little hellion in your car.”
I offered her a grateful smile over my shoulder before turning back to the six-foot-three wall of muscle and pissed-off energy standing in the middle of the road with me.
I curled my lips between my teeth to keep my snippy retort at bay. “I don’t suppose offering to pay for dry cleaning would make the situation any better?”
His nostrils flared on an exhale, reminding me a lot of an angry bull. An angry bull that just so happened to have the prettiest eyes I’d ever seen. “You really think dry cleaning is going to be able to fix this?” He waved his hands down his front.
“In my defense—or, well, my cat’s defense—we didn’t do the coffee.”
I could have sworn I heard a low growl from deep in his chest. “I spilled the coffee all over myself when I had to slam on the brakes to avoid hitting that menace to society over there!”
I slammed my hands on my hips indignantly. “Hey! Don’t call her that. It was an honest accident. She was just scared about going to the vet and tried to make a break for it.”

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. Jessica is the mother of a perfect little boy–she refuses to accept that he inherited her attitude and sarcastic nature no matter what her husband says.

In addition to being a wife and mom, she’s also a wino, a coffee addict, and an avid lover of all types of books–romances still being her all time favs. Her husband likes to claim that reading is her obsession but she just says it’s a passion…there’s a difference. Not that she’d expect a boy to understand.

Poverty is an understatement when it comes to describing my circumstances. My mother is a lost cause I can’t get rid of, and I work my fingers to the bone just trying to keep my head above water.

To ease the stress bearing down on my shoulders, I like to dance. Working as a janitor at a ballet company makes it easy for me to steal thirty minutes at night when the place is empty.

Or so I thought. Just my luck that the dangerously handsome owner catches me red-handed. He thinks I’m a hardworking ballerina, and I don’t bother correcting him… because, you know, I’d like to keep my job.

Dario La Rosa has every girl at the company swooning, hoping she’ll be the one to end his bachelor status. Me? I just want to keep my secret and try to avoid the man at all costs.
But then my mother’s sins burst through my dilapidated front door, and my life takes a turn for the worse.

Turns out Dario isn’t who I thought he was, and the man has the power to not only change my entire life, but to keep me from losing it.

Even though I’m drawn to the darkness coming off him waves, I’m not sure whether I should run or stay.

What would you do?

••••••

REVIEW:Dario La Rosa, 31, is one of the Cosa Nostra’s Mafia leaders. He is also the new owner of The Ballet Company, now named La Rosa Opera Ballet. That is where Eden Taylor, 24, works. Well one if her jobs. She’s a janitor there and she has heard tell about the how handsome and rich the new owner is.

Unfased, she has work to do. And every night she steaks away into one of the studios and just dances her stress and cares away. Its on such a night that Dario sees her. Unbeknownst to him, he has no idea who she is or that she even works for him. And after weeks of trying yo get this woman and her dancing out of his head he finally tracks her down.

There is chemistry that he has never felt before, with anyone. He wants nothing more than to get to know her. Eden knows that Dario is way out if league. She doesn’t belong in his circles. She barely makes ends meet and his is super rich. But she loves how he watches her dance. And how he wants to get to know her. But how will he feel when he finds out she is the janitor at his company. And what will happen when she finds out he is a Mafia King.

Their worlds collide in a beautifully well written dance, that leaves you wanting for more. But Eden’s past catches up with her and her life is at risk. Can Dario save her from the predicament she finds herself in? Will he get to her in time?

As with all of the Mafia Kings books, this one was sweet and beautifully written. I highly recommend each book in this series!

Armed with nothing but heroic courage and skills born from their childhood dreams, Jack and his friends fight a battle against an enemy who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. REVIEW: This isn’t my usual read. But I was going on holiday, so I thought I’d try it out….

I did like the profiles of the characters at the front of the book, and I did pop back several times to check them out as they appeared in the book. I also really liked the camaraderie between them.

Phil/Peter/Collin and Jack were a blend of personalities that worked well together. So when Jack finds out that a friend of his sisters is being bullied, he rallies the troops and takes a stand. But you have to wonder if they’ve bitten off more than they can handle? Someone wanting revenge on Kelly’s father (he’d been sent to prison and now they want to settle a score!)

Great characters, well thought out and the plot although a little used, was given a new slant. It’s a teen book, it’s not that dark, but it certainly gave a few authors that write this genre a run for their money. It had something that was childlike, but also quiet grown up, I mean who takes on people that would 💀you and not think twice, and doing this as a teen (ok your a teen until nineteen)

It certainly wasn’t Nancy Drew/ Famous Five and the Secret Seven (all classics in my generation,) now readers want more of an edge and less innocent times!

It’s a YA book, but I’d happily watch this at the cinema (as long as it stayed true to the book.) I could not put it down until the last page. Definitely a book I’d read again on holiday.

It’s a fast paced, action and adventure story. Lots going on, a few twists thrown in for good measure.

Highly recommended if you’re a fan of Percy Jackson/Harry Potter/Inheritance Games. I did think of a younger James Bond at one point 😆

Especially when I hear him say “my wife.”

Or feel his hands on my skin. Taste his kiss or see the way he looks at me with those blue eyes and know that our carefully crafted rules will shatter.

Right alongside my heart.

•••••

REVIEW: The final book in the Whitlock Family series; Forgotten Desires is a passionate book filled with drama, love and just the right amount of suspense. As always, I recommend reading the series in order to get the most out of it, but if the reader so choses, each book can be read as a standalone.

Brynlee and Crew are our main couple and their story starts years ago at a missed chance at love. Fast forward to the present, and now they have a second chance at their romance in the form of a marriage of convenience. This is the typical romance story, he needs something, she needs something and they help each other to get it. Neither Bryn or Crew were expecting the feelings they had to grow and become what they are.

I really enjoyed reading the trio of Bryn, Crew and his daughter Layla together, those moments were sweet and really made the story. Overall I really enjoyed the book, the plot and the characters, CM fans will be happy with the series ending, but also like myself just a little sad to not have more coming.

Five… minutes. That’s how long I was supposed to be there. Get in, get out. Job done.

Four… guns pointed at my head. It wasn’t supposed to go down this way.

Three… years old, and she clung to her mum as we sat huddled together on the floor, chained to the pipes on the wall.

Two… choices, when my time finally came. To let it all play out or fight with everything I had.

One… split second that changed the course of my life… forever.

My name is Tyler Evans. They call me The Thief. But on that day, the last thing I expected to become was the hostage.

REVIEW:It’s funny how in other stories Tyler comes across as a totally different character. He fades into the background, other voices are louder and stronger. But in this book, Tyler is up front and totally the main character.

If you’re new to the series, it’s totally fine to start here, each book stands on its own, and no need to read any of the previous books. But I can assure you like many of her other fans, you don’t want to miss any of the other stories, and after reading this, you’ll probably want to know how the rest of the soldiers meet their women. 😉

So if you’re new, here’s a quick rundown….

The Soldiers of Anarchy are young men who formed a vigilante group, they had a clear vision of what they wanted to do….. Keep the people of Brinton Manor safe from low life scum who would take advantage of them. People knew where to go, and who to talk to if they needed help. They are always one step ahead of the police, and they are careful never to leave any evidence to tie them to anything suspicious.

I loved how we got to meet young Tyler before he became a loyal brother and soldier. He wasn’t a nice teen, he stole, he lied and he didn’t give a damn about other people…. Not until he meets and witnesses the soldiers brand of justice! Slowly Tyler learns that it’s better to help others, it gave him a sense of purpose.

We also get to meet the love of his life at an early age. But it’s more dislike at first sight rather than love 😆

Jess definitely knew of the young lout Tyler. He’s rude/loud and a thief. She makes it clear that he’s scum and will always be scum. But Jess didn’t have all the facts, and Tyler wasn’t going to put her straight.

Moving to the present day, and Tyler is in the bank minding his own business chatting to a cute mum and daughter. When the unthinkable happens….A bank robbery!!

Tyler thinks of nothing but protecting the cute daughter and mum. Placing himself front and Center, he’s going to do everything he can to take on the robbers! It’s only when the mum starts to protest and ask him to be calm, he realises he’s going to do as she asks. He’s fallen for this cute duo and now it’s all he can think of!!

Jess can’t believe she’s in the queue with Tyler! He doesn’t recognise her, but she sure remembers him, she also remembers how she treated him and all the unkind words she said. But before she can jog his memory, the bank is being held up by masked men!! Her priority is keeping her daughter safe!! She doesn’t need a hero getting himself 💀!!

We spend a fair amount of time in the bank. They really aren’t nice guys, shooting because they can. Making horrible threats and even carrying a few out! And when one of the gang member wants to assault Jess, Tyler just about loses it. Making himself a target to keep Jess safe, is going to get him 💀!!

Revenge and finding out who the bank robbers are, has Tyler scouring the manor. Someone has to know who they are. And he’s not above using violence to get their names. His brothers in arms are willing to help Tyler in anyway he needs. If one needs help then they pull together and get it done.

This is the last book in the series. And it’s sad to say goodbye to Brinton Manor and the soldiers. But the good news is we get to have a book full of previous characters.

There are triggers in the book, please read the warning the author gives you.

I’m sad to see the boys go. But I’m happy that they all get a HEA 💜💜💜

A highly recommended read. Grab the book, grab the series, then grab the spin off series (Sandland)

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date May 28, 2024

Some days I can almost see the person I used to be. See the version of myself that felt joy, even passion. But she’s gone…just out of reach.

Life moves on for everyone else, though, and as my best friend’s maid-of-honor, I have a bachelorette party to plan—in Jamaica, no less. And that means working side by side with the best man: Benjamin Black.

Billionaire. Workaholic. Ultimate bachelor. The perfect catch for any woman—unless she’s lost her sense of self.

Apparently my body hasn’t gotten the memo. Because from the second we meet, something begins stirring, warming my blood.

And when our hands touch, it’s a heady reminder that even if I feel numb, my heart still beats.

He’s nothing like I thought. Every moment with him unshackles a little more of my fears, cracks another layer of ice.

But I should be afraid—and so should he. Because the past never lets go so easily.

Trigger Warning: My Heart Still Beats is a dark, emotional romance with a happy ending. However, the story includes elements that might not be suitable for all readers. Sexual assault, physical assault, rape, child molestation, suicidal thoughts, suicidal ideation, depression, anxiety, PTSD, panic attacks, murder, and blood are shown in the novel. REVIEW:Check the triggers on this one folks. For readers that have anxiety/depression, this is not a book I would recommend reading unless you have your person ready and available to you. That being said, Helen Hardt introduces a new book in My Heart Still Beats; a lengthy, intense emotional journey about self growth and forgiveness. In one word, traumatic.

There is much to unpack in this book. The story and plot really focus on people’s connections, how to heal and find those people in your life that are meant to be in it, to help you even when you don’t know what you need, when connection is more important than touch. The author is more than amazing in this book and the connections she draws with her characters, even more so with Ben. He is so different at the end of the book than when his journey first starts.

The plot to the story (while hard for me to read) was easy to keep up with, even if it was heartbreaking, the family ties, the lies, the grief and of course the end, where love begins to heal all wounds. My Heart Still Beats is raw and emotional. As a long time reader and fan of this author, this new standalone book is one that absolutely broke my heart, healed it, and gave me a little hope back to humanity all in one sitting.
