REVIEW  EL REY is the second instalment in Crimson Syn’s contemporary, adult LA FAMILIA AGUIRRE dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is the continuing story of forty-two year old, new head of the Mexican American Mafia Gabriel ‘El Rey’ Falcon Aguirre, twenty-one year old Sol Dominguez, and Sol’s husband Jeronimo Dominguez. EL REY should not be read as a stand alone as it picks up shortly after the events and cliff hanger of book one DESPERATION. Some of the events of El REY cross over with, and run parallel to some of the events in book one DESPERATION.

SOME BACKGROUND: Sol Dominguez was sold to Jeronimo Hunter as payment for a debt. Gabriel ‘El Rey’ Aguirre knew he needed to rescue Sol Dominguez but an assassin’s bullet put Gabriel in the grave leaving Sol to suffer at the hands of the man she was forced to marry.

Told from four first -person perspectives (El Rey, Sol, Jeronimo, Hunter) EL REY follows in the wake of the abduction of our story line heroine. After the assassination attempt against Gabriel Aguirre, Sol found herself a slave to Jeronimo Dominguez. Months of abuse and torture forced Sol to give in and give up until the day she was abducted by the man she once loved. Calling himself El Rey, Gabriel would imprison our story line heroine, refusing to accept that she was as much of a victim, if not more until a closer look by his cousin Paola would reveal there was more to Sol’s story than he could have ever imagined. What ensues is the rebuilding but tempestuous relationship between El Rey and Sol, and the fall-out when Sol offers to sacrifice her freedom for the man that she loves.

EL REY is a quick read; a story of betrayal and vengeance, abuse and power, acceptance and sacrifice. The dark premise is intense, gritty, dramatic and heart breaking-pay careful attention to the trigger warnings; the romance is virtually non-existent; the characters are broken, damaged, terrorized and abused. The age-gap relationship between Bulldog and Aiyana is one of immediate attraction but Bulldog is a suspect, and Aiyana knows to get involved could be the end of her career. Unable to stay apart, Aiyana finds herself falling for Bulldog, a man who sees betrayal when the truth is revealed. This is H*llhound/vessel Beau Kavanaugh, and book store owner/demon hunter Elora Wolfsbane’s story line. BANE & BOUND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Elora is something not quite human, and the power that surrounds our heroine is a power bequeathed from someone else. As the attraction and need between Beau and Elora continues to grow, there may be no happily ever after for a couple cursed to live their life in H*ll.

The secondary and supporting characters include Lucifer; the fallen angel turned demon Kimaris; Ashdemai, the demon of Lust, as well as Elora’s best friend and witch Karma.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, powerful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Gabriel’s uncle Ivan Aguirre; Sol’s husband Jeronimo Dominguez, as well as several capos, security, and Gabriel’s housekeeper Lupita. The requisite evil has many faces.

DESPERATION is a fast paced, novella length story of power and control, desperation and obsession, murder and vengeance, and dysfunctional family dynamics. REVIEW: WRECKED FROM MALICE by Crimson Syn is a contemporary, adult, dark, erotic, MC romance series set in the multi-authored/ multi-chapter Royal Bastards MC series fourth run. This is thirty-six year old, Thomas ‘Riddick’ Jensen, and nineteen year old, Abigail Beaumont’s story line. WRECKED FROM MALICE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as several events cross over from previous story lines or series, or are as of a direct results from earlier developments.

Told from several first person perspectives including Riddick, Abigail, Jameson & Malice, following two times lines WRECKED FROM MALICE focuses on Riddick’s latest assignment –to guard and protect New Orlean’s Mayor Beaumont’s daughter Abigail, a young woman Riddick ‘met’ six months earlier but Abigail refuses to become a prisoner in her own home even in the face of threats against her own father. Meanwhile, Riddick has spent ten years searching for the man that killed his sister, a man who is determined to finish what he started. What ensues is the sexual relationship between Riddick and Abigail, and the fall-out as Riddick’s past comes full circle, in an attempt to destroy our story line couple.

The relationship between Riddick and Abigail is one of the forbidden, Six months earlier, Abigail tried to exert her independence, spending a few glorious minutes with our story line hero. Riddick never forgot about Abigail but never knowing her last name, Riddick was unable to locate the woman that starred in his fantasies and dreams. Working for the Mayor of New Orleans, Riddick and the New Orleans chapter of the RBMC will discover the Mayor is not as clean as he leads everyone to believe. Riddick knows to get involved with Abigail Beaumont could mean the end of his affiliation with the RBMC but the past is about to ravage and consume what’s left of our story line hero. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense with some scenes of discipline, bondage and ‘daddy’ kink.

REVIEW: SOUL FIRE is a prequel novella in Crimson Syn’s contemporary, adult RBMC: New Orleans MC romance series. This is firefighter and MC member Lieutenant Mason ‘Brimstone’ Hudson, and Inn owner Soul Montgomery’s story line. SOUL FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading THE ENFORCER’S HOLIDAY PACKAGE for background and history as some of the events of the current timeline are as of a direct result of the events in the aforementioned story.

Told from three first person perspectives (Soul, Brim, Siege), set approximately thirty years earlier focusing on the OG, SOUL FIRE follows in the wake of a deliberate fire that set ablaze Soul Montgomery’s Mountain Inn in Port Townsend. Rescued by Lieutenant Mason ‘Brimstone’ Hudson, Soul would quickly become a part of Brimstone’s life but another deadly fire would see the Lieutenant reconsidering his career as a firefighter, as well as his membership in the RBMC. Struggling between head and heart, believing himself unworthy in the face of loss, Brimstone would play a game of push and pull with our storyline heroine, a game that would place Soul’s life in the direct line of fire when the Russian Mafia demands payment in return for someone they lost. What ensues is the back and forth, building but often heart breaking relationship between Soul and Brim, and the potential fall-out as Russian Mafia take aim at the women of the RBMC.

The relationship between Brim and Soul is one of instant attraction but a deadly fire finds Brim struggling with the loss of life, and the ensuing guilt surrounding the death of someone else.Needing Soul yet continually pushing our heroine aside, Brim battles his attraction and desire for a woman he believes he doesn’t deserve. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include Siege and Harmony (The Enforcer’s Holiday Package) , Saddle, and Paul ‘Bulldog’ Jameson, club secretary Silencer, and Detective Noel ‘Cipher’ Garcia. We are introduced to Detective Aiyana Locklear.
