REVIEW:BANE & BOUND by Crimson Syn is an adult paranormal/fantasy romance story line found in the multi-authored TWISTED LEGENDS collection focusing on gods and demons, the fallen and their prey. This is H*llhound/vessel Beau Kavanaugh, and book store owner/demon hunter Elora Wolfsbane’s story line. BANE & BOUND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalments is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Beau and Elora) following several times lines, BANE & BOUND focuses on the hunt for a soul. Beau Kavanaugh lost his life early in the twentieth century but given a choice between eternal damnation or a vessel for H*ll Beau chose to work for the Devil himself. Opting to be bound with a H*llhound, Beau became a soul collector, tasked with capturing one million souls, returning them to Lucifer for all eternity but when his final task was revealed, Beau would come face to face with his H*llhound’s fated mate, a woman whose soul is Beau’s final task. Having to outwit and outrun Ashdemai, the demon of lust, and perform a task for Kimaris, the demon of hidden treasures, our couple quickly discover the soul Beau is looking for has been bound to someone else. What ensues is the building but tempestuous relationship between Beau and Elora, and the fall-out as Beau makes a deal for a life and Elora’s soul.

The relationship between Beau and Elora begins when Beau is tasked with one final collection, retrieving Elora’s soul for Lucifer but Elora’s soul have been bound to someone else, and Beau and his H*llhound have fallen for our story line heroine. Elora is something not quite human, and the power that surrounds our heroine is a power bequeathed from someone else. As the attraction and need between Beau and Elora continues to grow, there may be no happily ever after for a couple cursed to live their life in H*ll.

The secondary and supporting characters include Lucifer; the fallen angel turned demon Kimaris; Ashdemai, the demon of Lust, as well as Elora’s best friend and witch Karma.

BANE & BOUND is a fast paced story of sins and sacrifice, penance and love. The premise is dark and heart breaking; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are powerful, dangerous, determined and cursed.

REVIEW:DESPERATION is the first instalment in Crimson Syn’s contemporary, adult DARK MAFIA ROMANCE series. This is forty-two year old, new head of the Mexican American Mafia Gabriel ‘El Rey’ Falcon Aguirre, and twenty-one year old Sol Dominguez’ story line.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from several first person perspectives (Gabriel, Sol, Ivan, Jeronimo) DESPERATION follows in the aftermath of the assassination of Gabriel Aguirre’s father Ernest Aguirre, the head of LaFamilia Aguirre. As the new leader, Gabriel is expected to continue the ruthless reign of his father but Gabriel has spent most of his life running his legitimate business, and wants nothing to do as his father’s heir until Gabriel comes face to face with another wounded bird, in the guise of twenty-one year old Sol Dominguez, a young woman sold by her family into sexual slavery for a debt owed, then forced to marry a man just as evil as Gabriel’s father but all is not well in La Familia Aguirre, as someone else is pulling the strings behind the scenes, throwing Gabriel into a war with the Mexican and Columbian Cartel. What ensues is the tempestuous, age-gap relationship between Sol and Gabriel, and the fall-out as the dead refuse to die, and Gabriel discovers that that he and Sol have been used as pawns for bigger and more dangerous control.

The relationship between Sol and Gabriel is one of the forbidden. Sol is married to an abusive man but Gabriel wants someone he cannot have. A surprise awaits Gabriel with the arrival of our story line heroine, an arrival predicated up the death and assassination of someone else. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, powerful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Gabriel’s uncle Ivan Aguirre; Sol’s husband Jeronimo Dominguez, as well as several capos, security, and Gabriel’s housekeeper Lupita. The requisite evil has many faces.

DESPERATION is a fast paced, novella length story of power and control, desperation and obsession, murder and vengeance, and dysfunctional family dynamics. The premise is dark, gritty and raw; the romance is provocative; the characters are colorful, dangerous and powerful. DESPERATION ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.

This is thirty-six year old, Thomas ‘Riddick’ Jensen, and nineteen year old, Abigail Beaumont’s story line. WRECKED FROM MALICE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but for back story and cohesion, I recommend reading the series in order as several events cross over from previous story lines or series, or are as of a direct results from earlier developments.

This is firefighter and MC member Lieutenant Mason ‘Brimstone’ Hudson, and Inn owner Soul Montgomery’s story line. SOUL FIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading THE ENFORCER’S HOLIDAY PACKAGE for background and history as some of the events of the current timeline are as of a direct result of the events in the aforementioned story.

Told from three first person perspectives (Soul, Brim, Siege), set approximately thirty years earlier focusing on the OG, SOUL FIRE follows in the wake of a deliberate fire that set ablaze Soul Montgomery’s Mountain Inn in Port Townsend. Rescued by Lieutenant Mason ‘Brimstone’ Hudson, Soul would quickly become a part of Brimstone’s life but another deadly fire would see the Lieutenant reconsidering his career as a firefighter, as well as his membership in the RBMC. Struggling between head and heart, believing himself unworthy in the face of loss, Brimstone would play a game of push and pull with our storyline heroine, a game that would place Soul’s life in the direct line of fire when the Russian Mafia demands payment in return for someone they lost. What ensues is the back and forth, building but often heart breaking relationship between Soul and Brim, and the potential fall-out as Russian Mafia take aim at the women of the RBMC.

The relationship between Brim and Soul is one of instant attraction but a deadly fire finds Brim struggling with the loss of life, and the ensuing guilt surrounding the death of someone else.Needing Soul yet continually pushing our heroine aside, Brim battles his attraction and desire for a woman he believes he doesn’t deserve. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include Siege and Harmony (The Enforcer’s Holiday Package) , Saddle, and Paul ‘Bulldog’ Jameson, club secretary Silencer, and Detective Noel ‘Cipher’ Garcia. We are introduced to Detective Aiyana Locklear.

This is RBMC enforcer Adam ‘Siege’ Young, and twenty year old, nursing student Harmony King’s story line. THE ENFORCER’S HOLIDAY PACKAGE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Harmony and Siege) THE ENFORCER’S HOLIDAY PACKAGE follows a case of mistaken identity, and a secret baby. Harmony King’s twin sister Amber is wanted by the Russian Bratva but Amber is dead, and Harmony is about to pay the price for sins of the past. With her sister’s infant son Gabriel left to her care, Harmony goes to find Adam Young, the child’s father, and hopefully, the man who can rescue our heroine from the Russian mob. What ensues is the quick building sexual relationship between Harmony and Siege as Siege believes our heroine is Amber King, and the fall-out as the Russian Bratva continue to target our story line heroine. As Harmony finds refuge at a local B&B, the proprietor Soul, suffers at the hands of the men looking fore revenge.

The relationship between Siege and Harmony is quick to develop. Within hours of meeting Siege and Harmony are physical with one another, while the Russian Bratva are only minutes behind. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense; Siege wants to be called Daddy, and our couple both like it rough in the bedroom.

We are reintroduced to former Fire Chief Brimstone, the woman he loves Soul, as well as several members of the RBMC and their Prez Bulldog. Brim and Soul’s story line is next.

THE ENFORCER’S HOLIDAY PACKAGE is a fast paced, short read that sees another RBMC member find his own happily ever after. The MC is gearing up for a potential war with the Russian Bratva, as no conflict resolution came to fruition, and the Bratva plot line was overall, somewhat confusing and never truly explained. The premise is engaging but felt rushed; the romance is intimate and seductive but I struggle with the hero wanting to be called ‘daddy’, and calling the heroine his ‘sl*t’; the characters are energetic and dynamic but the development is limited. THE ENFORCER’S HOLIDAY PACKAGE was a bit of a struggle, somewhat confusing, needing a little more fleshing out.

This is Julian Scorn and school teacher Kristin Youngblood’s storyline . AFFLICTED WITH DESIRE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Told from dual first person perspectives (Julian and Kristin) including a chapter from Jameson AFFLICTED WITH DESIRE follows in the aftermath of Julian Scorn’s life spiralling out of control. Ten years earlier, Julian was a married, father of one but discovered his wife had been cheating with a member from another MC. Taking his daughter, and leaving his wife with her now dead lover, Julian found the only person he could trust with raising his child, a woman who would suffer upon Julian’s return. Fast forward to present day wherein, Julian aka Scorn, is a member of the Royal B*stards MC New Orleans chapter, and has been assigned to protect the daughter of a local businessman. Enter Kristin Youngblood, and the woman with whom Julian will quickly fall in love. What ensues is the building relationship between Kristin and Julian , and the fall-out when Kristin reports a suspected case of child abuse, and the MC will be targeted for protecting Kristin Youngblood.

Kristin has always wanted to work with children struggling with emotional and physical handicaps. An opportunity to ‘purchase’ and start her own school comes with the protection of the Royal B*stards MC, a protection that finds Kristen facing the man with whom she will fall in love but all is about to spiral out of control, and with it, lives will be lost, as Kristin struggles to trust her heart and the man that she loves.

The relationship between Kristin and Julian is one of immediate attraction but Julian has been warned-off of seeking anything beyond a protection assignment, an assignment that will see Julian lose someone he loves. As Julian begins to fall for our story line heroine, threats to her life, place Julian in the direct line of fire. The $ex scenes are aggressive and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include several members of the RBMC: New Orleans, as well as Kristin’s father Ray Youngblood, as well as Julian’s mother, and his daughter Amanda. The requisite evil has many faces.

AFFLICTED WITH DESIRE is a story of family and relationships, betrayal and mistrust, murder and vengeance, acceptance and loss. The fast paced premise is gritty and tragic; the romance is startling and provocative; the characters are edgy and impassioned.

Solange is immediately attracted to ‘Father Julien’, and Julien begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine but it is not until Solange turns eighteen years old, does Julien up his game to seek vengeance against Antoine Voliere. The $ex scenes are erotic and intense.

The secondary and supporting characters include Solange’s father Antoine, as well as several female members at the all-girls school who see ‘Father Julien’ as their dirty little secret.

BLESS ME, FATHER is a gritty and raw story line of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, retribution, lust, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is dark and edgy; the romance is provocative ; the characters are broken, energetic and determined.

We are introduced to Fallen Kings MC president Kremlin (aka Adrian Desnokov), as well as Stiletto and Phoenix (aka Ryder Stone) of the V-Twin Valkyries.

TANGLED WEB is a quick read; a fast paced, insta-lust to love, erotic, reverse harem novella that introduces the reader to Crimson Syn’s new V-Twin Valkyrie MC series. The premise is entertaining; the romance is provocative and intense; the characters are energetic and determined but I had hoped for a little more character building for the three males leads.
