Rodeo superstar Carson “Thunder” O’Malley is forced to start over when his career ends after a violent bull destroys everything he’s ever worked for. However, Marilee is shocked by the stranger’s kindness and generosity. After discovering who he really is, she lets down her guard and sparks fly.

Just as Marilee and Carson set out to build their dreams, it’s clear that someone wants to destroy them both. Land is the ultimate goal—and they have what their unidentified enemy wants. Nobody is safe. Now it’s up to Carson to protect Marilee and their future together. Can he save their farms before everything blows up right before their eyes?

REVIEW:KINDRED SPIRITS -Moonlight and Moonshine is the sixteenth instalment in Deanndra Hall’s contemporary, adult BLUEGRASS DYNASTY erotic, romantic suspense series. This is forty-two year old, former rodeo superstar and single father Carson ‘Thunder’ O’Malley, and forty-three year old, rancher /horse breeder Marilee Parker’s story line. KINDRED SPIRITS can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from third person omniscient perspective KINDRED SPIRITS follows in the wake of Carson ‘Thunder’ O’Malley’s purchase of the land adjacent to Marilee Parker’s ranch in Moonlight Hollow, Taylorsville, Kentucky. Carson O’Malley has retired from the rodeo circuit in the wake of a devastating accident that all but destroyed our story line hero. Wanting to start a ‘moonshine’ and bourbon operation, Carson is the winning bid on the ranch adjacent to Marilee Parker, a forty-three year old divorcee who needs the land for her expanding horse breeding operation but with the winning bid Carson finds himself the target of the residents of Moonlight Hollow as they gather to protect one of their own. Carson isn’t the bad guy, he offers up a large parcel of land to our story line heroine, the woman with whom Carson will fall in love. Enter Marilee Parker, horse breeder and trainer, and the target of her past. A large development corporation is desperate for the land upon which Carson wants to build his fledgling moonshine operation, and they are willing to do anything including murder to get what they want. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Carson and Marilee, and the potential fallout as our couple stand in the way of some powerful men.

Carson O’Malley is a broken man who struggles in the aftermath of a devastating accident on the pro rodeo circuit that has left Carson a shell of his former self. Heartbreaking memories often take Carson to his knees but with the support of Marilee Parker, Carson is hoping to start anew in Moonlight Hollow but someone has targeted our story line hero taking aim at the woman with whom he is falling in love. Marilee Parker had thought she had moved on from her past but the past is demanding everything and more. From violence and destruction, Carson and Marilee find themselves on the defensive when they refuse to hand over their land.

The relationship between Carson and Marilee begins as competing bids in an auction for more ranching land. Carson is willing to ‘share’ the land with our story line heroine and realizes the people of Moonlight Hollow are quick to defend one of their own. Marilee Parker doesn’t immediately recognize her neighbor as the former rodeo champion but the man knows his horses, and begins a slow seduction of our story line heroine. With a target on both of their backs, our couple are often facing down threats from many directions, threats that make good on several occasions. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including Vic and his brother Tony Walters (Legacy of Love/Legacy of Memories), several locals, law enforcement, friends and family but for all of the interested parties, I struggled with the lack of any real help for our story line couple, who were often left to their own devices in the face of death threats, physical harm and animal abuse. Many of Deanndra Hall’s story lines include a ‘community’ of secondary characters that jump in to help when there is trouble but the lack of any definitive assistance from the locals or security was concerning- Carson had to become the proverbial judge, jury and executioner to protect their lands and the woman he loved. The requisite evil has many faces.

KINDRED SPIRITS is a story of power, desperation and control, greed, money and obsession, family and friendships, acceptance and love. The character driven premise is intriguing and emotional; the characters are determined and dynamic; the romance is seductive and provocative.

Staring into his eyes, Marilee moved into him and pressed her lips to his. Carson felt that moment of panic, and then something else, something warm and wild, as her hands found their way around his neck and up into the back of his hair, her fingers wrapping into it and pulling gently.

Carson’s hands wound around her waist and pulled her against him, flattening her to him, her breasts pressing into his chest until he felt weak. But this time, her tongue pressed against his lips until they parted and explored his mouth, and he reciprocated and met her halfway, tasting her, savoring her, waiting to see if the next instant would be better than the one they were in. And it was. He felt her hips rock until her lower body pressed into his, and every inch of hardness he’d ever had went harder than it had ever been. She felt right in his arms, every soft bit of her, and if he’d ever dreamed of a kiss that he never wanted to end, that kiss would’ve been it.

When he pulled back, all he could whisper to her was, “Marilee, I’m broken.”

“So am I. I think maybe we could fix each other.” She pulled back and looked straight into his eyes. “I’d like to try, at least. Could we do that?”

But can he find Justice for Samara before it’s too late and she’s just another statistic?

REVIEW:JUSTICE FOR SAMARA is the sixteenth instalment in Deanndra Hall’s contemporary, adult BLUEGRASS BRAVERY erotic, romantic suspense series, a part of the multi-authored Police and Fire: Operation Alpha series with characters first introduced in author Susan Stoker’s series. This is twenty-seven year old Chief Deputy Michael Edwards, and thirty-five year old Detective Samara Futrell’s story line. JUSTICE FOR SAMARA can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

WARNING: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Samara and Michael) JUSTICE FOR SAMARA follows the search for a serial rapist. Michael Edwards’ first assignment as the new Chief Deputy in the Trigg County Sheriff’s Department is to hire two new detectives, and with a lack of racial and gender diversity in the department, Michael and Sheriff Carter Melton set their sites Detective Samara Futrell, a veteran police officer looking to make a move. Within days of arrival Samara and Michael begin to act on their attraction to one another but a deadly house fire pushes the couple together in an effort to take down a potential serial rapist. Samara and Michael suspect the person responsible is someone they may both know but Samara’s struggle to get information from a number of victims places everyone in the direct line of fire including our story line heroine. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Michael and Samara, and the potential fall-out when Samara’s past takes aim at our story line heroine.

Meanwhile, Samara and Michael’s interracial relationship becomes an issue when Michael’s mother, and Samara’s parents are unable to deal with their children’s choices but when Samara’s life hangs in the balance, Michael’s mother Marjorie is the first to take a stand in support of the woman Michael loves.

The relationship between Michael and Samara is one of immediate attraction that has the blessing of the Trigg County Sheriff. Michael’s relationship history has always been a black hole where it concerns his fellow officers, and Samara’s past is about to make like more difficult for everyone concerned. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense-our couple like to talk dirty in the bedroom.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful secondary and supporting characters, many of whom we have me in previous story line.

REVIEW:FIGHTING FOR AMETHYST by Deanndra Hall is the first instalment in the multi-authored contemporary, adult Police and Fire: Operation Alpha: Tarple VFD romance series based on characters created by author Susan Stoker. This is forty three year old, volunteer fire fighter/ former US soldier turned rancher Jackson Frame, and twenty-one year old Amethyst Meadows’ story line.

Told from third person perspective FIGHTING FOR AMETHYST focuses on the building romance and relationship between forty-three year old, volunteer fire fighter/ former US soldier turned rancher Jackson Frame, and twenty-one year old Amethyst Meadows. Days after discovering she was pregnant, twenty-one year old, college student Amethyst Meadows found herself alone, struggling to make ends meet, and despondent about her lack of a future. Heading home with her proverbial tail between her legs, Amethyst would come face to face with her future in the guise of volunteer fire fighter/ former US soldier turned rancher Jackson Frame when her car ran out of gas. Within days of meeting, Amethyst would move in with our hero but Amethyst’s past was refusing to accept our heroine’s choice for the future, and was determined to end any and all connections to her past. What ensues is the rapidly building romance and relationship between Amethyst and Jackson, and the potential fall-out as Amethyst’s past is resolved to destroy our heroine’s life.

Jackson Frame is a former US soldier whose time spent in service left our hero a shell of his former self. Meeting Amethyst Meadows, the daughter of his friend and fellow volunteer fire fighter Gant Meadows, gave Jackson thoughts for a future, a future he never thought he would have again. Amethyst Meadows world was spiralling out of control. Her boyfriend of several years had been making her life miserable and with the announcement of her pregnancy, Amethyst found herself afraid and alone. With the only option of going home, Amethyst knew that to protect her baby, she would have to ensure a future for them both.

The relationship between Amethyst and Jackson is an age-gap, May-December, insta-love relationship wherein Jackson is determined to claim Amethyst and her unborn child as his own. Amethyst has only known and met Jackson Frame a handful of times but without hesitation, Amethyst is willing to move in , and start a new life with the man with whom she had instantly fallen in love. The limited $ex scenes are passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text but saying that I didn’t feel the palpable sexual attraction between our leading couple, and the insta lust-love was totally unbelievable under the circumstances. The relationship wreaked of desperation for both parties.

We are introduced to Amethyst’s father Gant and her wife Lorna, Amethyst’s sister Sapphire, and their step brother Tank; Jackson’s brother Wyman and his wife Chimlin, as well as several members of the volunteer fire fighters, and Amethyst’s ex boyfriend Craven Bradshaw.

FIGHTING FOR AMETHYST is a story of betrayal and vengeance, loss and grief, relationships, family and love. The premise is engaging but I had a difficult time enjoying a story that I found hard to believe. In fact, the writing does not ‘feel’ like any of the previous Deanndra Hall’s instalments in the multi-authored Police and Fire series-the heroine was childish and immature; the male/female sex oriented roles were classically defined, and our heroine’s ‘nickname’ for Jackson was …just…icky. FIGHTING FOR AMETHYST was a bit of a struggle for this reader-here’s hoping future instalments are more to my liking.

REVIEW:JUSTICE FOR JOELLA is the eleventh instalment in Deanndra Hall’s contemporary, adult BLUEGRASS BRAVERY romantic suspense series, and the latest instalment in the multi-authored POLICE AND FIRE: OPERATION ALPHA series focusing on a number of characters created by author Susan Stoker. This is disgraced surgeon turned EMT Brandon Fox, and Detective JoElla Tompkins story line. JUSTICE FOR JOELLA can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

NOTE: Some of the events in JUSTICE FOR JOELLA are based loosely in fact, following a similar case seven years earlier in Illinois and Kentucky.

Told from dual third person perspectives (JoElla and Brandon) JUSTICE FOR JOELLA follows in the aftermath of Dr. Brandon Fox’s suspension from his position at the hospital, and ultimately separating from his wife in the process. Working as an EMT was beneath Brandon’s station in life but Brandon needed a job, and was well aware of the requirements to save a life. Meanwhile, JoElla Thompkins , suspended from her own job as a police detective finds herself a potential witness in a murder and the abduction of her neighbour. In the fall out, JoElla is reassigned as a detective at the local precinct in Taylorsville, Kentucky, working on the case she knows only too well. A night out with her co-workers, brings her up close and personal with doctor turned EMT Brandon Fox, and in the ensuing days and week , JoElla slowly releases the pent up anger that has been controlling her life. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Brandon and JoElla, and the potential fall-out as the case of the missing woman begins to take a familiar but twisted turn.

JoElla Tompkins was once a respected Detective but a routine call was anything but. In the aftermath, JoElla was shunned and ostracised by her co-workers, and her partner was promoted to chief of police. Suspended by the man in charge, JoElla walked away from the life that she loved, leaving behind unanswered questions about the who, how and why. Dr. Brandon Fox screwed up both his personal and professional life, and no amount of grovelling was going to fix what happened or why. Needing a job and a place to live, Brandon moves in with his estranged twin Landon, and begins working at the local fire department as a fully trained EMT. Meeting JoElla stirred something deep within our story line hero but JoElla was all kinds of feisty and fire, angry at the world, with issues of trust and self-esteem but a woman whose life had completely spiralled out of control.

The relationship between JoElla and Brandon struggles with JoElla’s acerbic attitude towards life, in general, but more so towards the people who wanted to get close. Brandon Fox had been estranged from his family, in part, due to his own preconceived notions based upon the ways in which he was raised. Neither Brandon nor JoElla were perfect; both had questionable morals and judgement but life cut them both off at the knees, and they had to start from the bottom up. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate, without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic, and familiar secondary and supporting characters including Brandon’s twin brother Landon and his wife Jerrica (Shelter for Jerrica), their sister Liella and her fiancé Breckin (Justice for Liella); Sheriff Roy Billings; detective Michael ‘Mick’ Hovekamp; police chief Lance Margolis; lieutenant Quint Axton (Bluegrass Dynasty); several members of the police and fire departments; as well as Brandon’s parents. The requisite evil has many faces.

JUSTICE FOR JOELLA is a story of murder, betrayal, conspiracy and revenge; a story of family, friendships, secrets and lies; acceptance, forgiveness, romance and love. The premise is engaging, intriguing and tragic; the characters are energetic, broody, broken but surviving; the romance is spirited and intense.
