REVIEW: HIS RESCUED MATE is the first instalment in Delta James’ contemporary, adult ALASKAN TAILS erotic, paranormal romance series, a spin off from the author’s MYSTIC RIVER SHIFTERS. This is wolf shifter Max Renner and journalist Alexa Carrington’s story line.

Told from dual first person perspectives (Max and Alexa) HIS RESCUED MATE focuses on the building romance and relationship between our story line couple. Alexa Carrington’s latest assignment finds her on Kodiak Island where she will come face to face with her future in the guise of wood carver Max Renner. When Alexa’s guide is injured, Max reluctantly volunteers, a position that reveals his new guest is his fated mate. Exploring the island together, Max and Alexa will discover buried secrets, long forgotten treasure, and a family mystery revealed for our story line hero. Max is desperate to claim his mate, a woman who is unaware of Max’s powers and his Alpha wolf.

The world building follows the growing relationship, as well as the search for the truth. Max’s aunt went missing years earlier, disowned by her family, and Max and Alexa will uncover the clues, and a possible love affair not approved by the family.

The slow building relationship between Max and Alexa is one of fated mates but Max is biding his time claiming the woman that calls to his wolf. Alexa is unaware of the existence of a supernatural world, and in this Max is determined not to frighten the woman with whom he is falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative.

The secondary and supporting characters are limited. We are quickly introduced to Alexa’s co-workers, as well as the return of wolf shifter Asher Wells (Mystic River Shifters).

HIS RESCUED MATE is a novella length story of secrets, loss, acceptance and love. The premise is entertaining and engaging; the romance is seductive; the characters are determined and dynamic-Alexa easily accepts the existence of shifters, and her status as a fated mate.
