REVIEW: DEMAND is the second installment in Lisa Renee Jones’s contemporary, adult Careless Whispers romantic suspense series focusing on billionaire Kayden Wilkens, and Ella Ferguson. The Careless Whispers series is a spin off from Lisa’s INSIDE OUT series. Ella is Sara McMillan’s (Inside Out Series) best friend and has gone missing following a trip to Europe. You do not have to have read the INSIDE OUT SERIES to follow the premise of DENIAL. DEMAND should not be read as a stand alone as the story line continues upon the events of book one. The author prefaces the book with a quick synopsis of the previous book, and a breakdown of the characters already introduced.
SOME BACKGROUND: While in Italy, American citizen Ella Ferguson was found battered and bruised from an attack that left our heroine with a concussion and traumatic amnesia. Waking up in the hospital beside a beautiful stranger found Ella in a world of confusion with no memories including her own identity and the reasons for her present situation. Enter Kayden Wilkens, American billionaire and the man who claims to have saved Ella’s life.
Told from first person point of view (Ella) DEMAND continues to focus on Ella and the recovery of her memories as well as the issues of trust between Ella and the man with whom she is falling in love. Kayden Wilkens is a man of mystery, power, and money, with direct connections to the Italian mob that may or may not have something to do with Ella’s current dilemma. While Ella struggles with flashbacks and the slow recovery of her past, she refuses to heed the warnings of the local police about the man who owns her –heart and soul.
DENIAL is a story of mystery, intrigue, secrets and lies. The story line advances the series but a few days wherein Ella’s memories slowly return but with it the possibility that her past is catching up with her present. The premise is revealing and engaging; the characters are emotional and intense; the romance is provocative and passionate. The $ex scenes are seductive and erotic. Lisa Renee Jones adds another spirited installment to our reading library.
