ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 26, 2022

Is he an enemy?

Dillon Young is proud that she inherited her aunt’s ranch. The problem: someone is trying to run her off and is willing to do whatever it takes. Strange, dangerous things keep happening. Dillion suspects her no-good neighbor and fellow wealthy rancher Hank Stephens. Never a man to get his hands dirty, he sends others to get the job done. So, when the irresistible Cal Bennett is found passed out drunk on her property, Dillion is on high alert. Until someone takes a shot at her and Cal springs to her rescue. When the hard-bodied, no-nonsense-talking cowboy points out that she may need some help, Dillion is inclined to reluctantly agree.

Or a lover?

Waking up on a stranger’s property with a shotgun in his face is not Cal Bennett’s idea of a good time. Never mind that the woman on the other end of the barrel is one of the most fiercely beautiful women he has ever seen. Things get more interesting when he finds himself shielding her from flying bullets. It’s clear that this smart, savvy woman could use a hand and he is all too happy to lend any part of his body she requires. His proposal: pose as lovers until they find out who is after her ranch. As the danger rises and secrets are revealed, the passion explodes between them. There is no turning back.

REVIEW:THAT COWBOY OF MINE by Donna Grant is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, romance story line focusing on ranch owner Dillon Young, and former bull rider Cal Bennett.

Told from third person perspective THAT COWBOY OF MINE follows in the wake of Dillon Young finding a hung over and injured Cal Bennett in one of her fields. Unable to remember what happened or how he go there, former bull rider Cal Bennett offers to work as a ranch hand, someone of whom Dillon is desperate since the walk out of most of her help. Dillon Young inherited the Bar 4 Ranch from her late aunt Dolly but in the ensuing time the neighbor Hank Stephens has insisted Dillon sell the ranch. Refusing to bend to Hank’s demands, Dillon finds herself the victim of several attacks, and if not for our hero, Dillon’s life would have already been lost. What ensues is the slow building romance and relationship between Dillon and Cal, and the potential fall-out as issues of trust force Cal out of Dillon’s life, ensuring our heroine is an easy target for the people desperate to take control of the Bar 4 Ranch.

Cal Bennett, like his father, has ridden the bulls for most of his life but his recent losses on the riding circuit found Cal wandering with no apparent aim in life. Unable to remember how he arrived at the Bar 4 Ranch, Cal begins an investigation of his own, believing the attacks against Dillon may be connected to his black out the night before. Dillon Young refuses to sell her aunt Polly’s ranch but someone is making life very difficult for our story line heroine. Unable to trust anyone including the man with whom she is falling in love, Dillon pushes everyone out of her life but leaves herself vulnerable to the people trying to take her down.

The relationship between Dillon and Cal begins when Dillon finds Cal alone on her ranch. Cal offers to help with the ranch by way of apology but Dillon continues to struggle with issues of trust in the wake of everything that has been happening until the present. The slow building relationship falters in the face of mistrust, and Cal refuses to be the cause of any further harm to our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are limited but passionate.

We are introduced to ranch hands Emmett Perkins, Dusty and Freddy Miller; neighbor Hank Stephens, attorney Isaac Gomez, Ranger Chet Thompson, and Sheriff Felps.

THAT COWBOY OF MINE is a story of power, greed, betrayal and vengeance. The premise is entertaining-the suspense is limited as most of the people responsible are revealed early in the story; the characters are wounded but spirited; the romance is intimate but limited and slow to develop.

Chapter ThreeCal frowned at the mention of the Ivy Ridge Ranch. “Do you really think a man like Hank Stephens would resort to shooting you just to get your ranch?”
“When you put it like that, no,” Dillon admitted. “He’s an ass, but I don’t think he’s a killer.”
“Then again, he has let it be known he wants your place.”
Dillon didn’t respond until she had taken a left turn and straightened the wheel. “The Bar 4 is only fifteen hundred acres. Hank’s place is four times that size. Though, he has been buying up other ranches and property in the area for years.”
“I should tell you I know Hank.”
“Of course, you do,” Dillon said with a roll of her eyes.
Cal turned his head to her. “Just because I know him doesn’t mean I’m helping him or whoever is after your ranch. I’m not. I give you my word.”
“I don’t know you, Mr. Bennett.”
“And yet, you hired me.”
A beat of silence passed before she said, “So, I did.”
“If I were working for someone else, would I have saved your life this morning?”
Dillon shrugged and blew out a breath. “I don’t know.”
Cal let the topic drop. It was obvious that Dillon was weary and scared, though she hid it well. If he hadn’t witnessed the shooting, he probably wouldn’t have believed the situation was so serious. Individuals and companies tried to acquire huge swaths of land all the time. Few millionaires and billionaires didn’t own land. Cal could well see Hank trying to purchase the Bar 4. But Hank wouldn’t try to kill Dillon for it.
“What else has happened?” Cal asked.
Dillon glanced at him, a frown furrowing her brow. “What?”
“Besides the attempt on your life, what else has transpired? Emmett referenced that things couldn’t keep happening.”
They reached the edge of town. Dillon slowed when she came to the stop sign and waited for her turn before continuing through town. “Small things.”
“Like?” Cal pushed.
Her nostrils flared, showing her irritation. “The gate being open sometime last night and the prized quarter horse stallion I just purchased—Legacy— getting out. A feed container I inspected the day before and found clean filled with rats. Fences that had just been checked ending up cut with cattle getting loose.”
“Do you think it’s someone working for you?”
“What?” she asked incredulously, jerking her head to him. “No. Absolutely, not.”
“You said you lost a couple of workers. Could they be to blame?’
She shook her head. “I saw the letters they received. Whoever sent them told the men to stop working for me or their families would be harmed. They didn’t want to take the chance, so they quit.”
“They could have written the letters themselves.”
“It’s a possibility I’ve considered, but they aren’t the only ones who received them. Everyone who works for me got one.”
Cal rubbed his right temple. “It sounds like someone is trying to make it impossible for you to run your ranch.”
“That’s exactly what they’re doing. I’ve sunk a lot of money into the new stallion. My aunt founded a breeding program that has sustained the ranch far better than cattle ever did. I’m continuing it. Without that stallion, I can’t recoup the money I invested.”
“Not to mention losing two workers, getting rid of the rats, and constantly fixing fence that was purposefully cut.”
She slowed again and put her blinker on to pull into the parking area in front of Ike’s. “Exactly.”
Cal pointed to his ten-year-old black Chevy Z71, the only vehicle in the parking lot. He waited until Dillon parked beside it before saying, “Whoever wants your ranch must not want to wait for you to throw in the towel. That’s the only reason I can think of for things to have escalated to the shooting this morning.”
“I wasn’t supposed to be in that part of the ranch. I was there looking for Legacy,” she said as she met his gaze.
“You think someone let the stallion loose so you would look for him?”
“I do.”
“How would they know where you would go?”
She shrugged and rested both hands on the steering wheel. “I’m the one who found the gate open. The horse would’ve had to go through two pastures to get to the other side of the ranch. It was a clear shot to where I went, which is why I chose it. I called Emmett to let him know what was going on.”
“But you told him you didn’t see any tracks.”
“I saw them leading toward the area you were in. After that, nothing.”
“So, that’s why you said I attempted to steal a horse.”
She twisted her lips. “Oh, you definitely did. Your mistake was trying to take Houdini. No matter what we’ve used to secure his stall, he always gets out. We leave it open if he wants to go in, but he prefers to remain in the pasture at night. I should also point out that he’s not let anyone ride him since Dolly died. Somehow, you managed to get a bridle on him and a saddle out.”
“Well, hell,” Cal said as he looked away, embarrassed. Her words jogged a faint memory of him struggling to get a halter on a horse. “I thought for sure that was a dream. Every time I put the saddle blanket on the horse and turned to get the saddle, I’d turn back around, and it would be on the ground.”
“That’s Houdini.”
He inwardly grimaced. “I’ve never stolen anything in my life. I’ve also never been that drunk. Please accept my sincerest apologies.”
She faced forward and sighed. “You don’t have to return to the ranch.”
Cal was shocked by her words. “But you just hired me.”
“Because Emmett was making a big deal of things.”
“I was there, Ms. Young. It was a big deal.”
Her head swiveled to him. “Call me Dillon. And it doesn’t matter who is around or where I am. If someone wants to kill me, they’re going to do it. You and I both know that.”
Anger sliced through Cal. “The hell they will.”
“You’re one man. What are you going to do?”
“Keep you safe.”

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date March 8, 2022

There is no escaping a Reaper. They are elite assassins, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says a Fae’s time is up, they are who she sends…

The Fae Others think they have me in their grip, but little do they know that I’m working as a double agent. My alliance now lies with the Reapers and Death, and it is my mission and duty to destroy the malignant organization before their rot spreads. Unfortunately, a surprise splits my focus—a more than welcome one. I never thought to reunite with my lost true love. And now that I have, I must find a way to shelter her from the evil Six and convince my new friends that she’s not a threat. Admittedly, there is some doubt. How can there not be? But I trust her. And I haven’t seen her, held her, kissed her for centuries. I loved her then, will love her always, and will do whatever it takes to keep her by my side for as long as we have. Her cunning and courage hold me captive, and our passion knows no bounds. If only the timing were better—and the world safer.

REVIEW:DARK ALPHA’S PASSION is the fourteenth instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult REAPER paranormal/fantasy romance series- a spin off from the author’s Dark Kings series. This is Light Fae Ruarc and Chevonne Quinlan’s story line. DARK ALPHA’S PASSION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is a continuing premise throughout.

SOME BACKGROUND: The Reapers (believed to be a folk lore amongst the Fae) are a group of Dark and Light Fae, selected by Death (aka Erith), on their own deathbed, to do her bidding-Death is the judge and jury; the Reapers are the executioners. The Reapers are not harbingers of death, but are tasked with destroying the Light and Dark Fae who have crossed a line from which there is no return. All Reapers must follow two rules: never to fall in love; and never to reveal their existence to anyone but a group known as the Others, have declared themselves the rulers of the Fae, and their next ‘mission’ is to take down the Reapers, having failed to destroy the Dark Kings.

Told from third person perspective including Chevonne and Ruarc, DARK ALPHA’S PASSION sees a new member added to the ranks of Erith aka Death’s army of Reapers. Approximately three hundred years earlier Light Fae Ruarc broke the heart of the woman he loved, a woman who continues to haunt his fantasies and dreams. Fast forward to present day wherein Ruarc will come face to face with said woman, Chevonne, another Light Fae, but a woman who is about to be pulled into the depths of betrayal and power. A war is on the horizon with the group known as the Others, a war in which Ruarc will not survive. What ensues is the rebuilding romance and relationship between Ruarc and Chevonne, and the potential fall-out as betrayal forces Ruarc and Chevonne to take sides in a battle neither won can ultimately win.

Meanwhile, Aisling continues to search and keep track of Xaneth, a Fae damaged and broken by torture and brutality but a man determined to exact revenge wherever evil lives.

The relationship between Ruarc and Chevonne is one of second chances but Ruarc is caught be head and heart knowing that he is about to betray the people in charge. Chevonne has no idea what is about to unfold, and finds herself forced to make a decision to save the people she loves. The lone $ex scenes is passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful and energetic secondary and supporting characters including the return of several of the couples we have previously met including Erith and her mate Cael, Rordan , Talin and Neve, Catriona and Fintan, Bradach and Maeve, Sorcha and Cathal, Balladyn, Daire, Kyran,Torin, Dubhan, Aisling and Xaneth. We are introduced to Chevonne’s cousin Cillian, her parents Hugo and Clare, and sisters Eileen and Shannon, as well as her father’s sister Lena, and the return of the Druids from the Isle of Skye.

DARK ALPHA’S PASSION is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, family and obsession, and rekindling love. The fast paced premise is entertaining and revealing; the romance is captivating; the characters are charismatic and lively.

He was fucked. There was no getting around that. Any way he looked, every idea he had, fell apart like mist that vanished with the sun.
Ruarc paused in his wandering of the streets and watched the bright streaks of red and orange in the sky. It was a beautiful sunrise. Any other day, he might have taken it as a good omen. But he knew truths now that he hadn’t before. Truths that changed everything.
The rage inside him threatened to explode. He wanted to hurt something. No. He wanted to tear the limbs from the six individuals who had put him in this tenuous position—the Six. There was only one outcome for him. He didn’t fear death. He dreaded everything he would leave behind.
Ruarc leaned a shoulder against a building and dropped his head into his hands. Emotion, viscous and cloying, choked him. He might feel better if he could let out a bellow, slam his fist into a wall, or…something. But he couldn’t. Those who controlled whether his family lived or died watched him. One wrong move, and those he loved could be taken from him. He’d once given up everything for them. How could he let anything happen to his family now?
He lifted his head. Dublin never truly slept. No city did. The dawning of a new day sent the seedier individuals to their holes to await the night, while other opportunistic people began filling the streets. Ruarc didn’t know which he found more abhorrent.
Fae milled among the mortals—Dark and Light, alike. Some Dark didn’t bother hiding their red eyes or their silver-streaked black hair. In this day and age, where humans sported various hair colors and eye shades thanks to contacts, no one paid them any heed. Though mortals were unconsciously drawn to the Fae. Ruarc rarely walked amid humans without lowering his power so they didn’t gather around him. Some Fae got off on having that kind of control over mortals. He never had. He found it a nuisance. It made the humans look weak. No other being reacted to the Fae the way they did. And to most Fae, who were egomaniacs, it gave them a god complex.
Ruarc didn’t hate humans. But he didn’t like them, either. They were simply a part of Earth. Just as the Dragon Kings were. If Ruarc had his preference, he’d be back on the Fae Realm, not having to deal with mortals or the Kings.
But he wasn’t on the Fae Realm. He was on Earth.
“In fekking Hell,” he murmured.
As the morning progressed, the tourists began filling the streets. They were oblivious to the threats walking alongside them. His gaze locked on a woman, staring at him. She had her blond hair pulled back in a ponytail that looked as if she had slept in it. For some unknown reason, mortals thought that was a good look for them. They were wrong.
She was a twenty-something in jeans, a white t-shirt, and white sneakers. It was how she stared at him that got his attention. It didn’t take Ruarc long to realize that this wasn’t just any human. The woman was a Druid.
But why was she staring at him?
Druids were all over the world, but the strongest of them resided on the Isle of Skye. It wasn’t an oddity to find a Druid walking the streets of Dublin. What bothered him was the way she observed him. He quirked a brow, daring her to come closer. She dropped her gaze, and a heartbeat later, turned and walked away.
Ruarc almost followed her. Almost. In the end, he didn’t care that she had been staring. So what if she knew he was Fae? Most Druids’ magic had been diluted through the generations, which meant many hardly had any left. Every once in a while, one was born with significant power and had no idea what it was or how to use it. However, Ruarc had more pressing concerns than the Druids.
He turned his thoughts from the human and back to the matter at hand. The fuckery he was currently mired in. He sighed loudly. His first thought was to run far and fast. If only that were an option. His life wasn’t the one on the line, though. It was his family’s.
Ruarc ran a hand down his face and pushed away from the building to continue walking. He had no destination in mind. It wouldn’t matter if he did. The Others would find him. They always did.
“Fek,” he said as his anxiety rose.
He didn’t only have the Others watching him. Now, there were the Reapers.
“Fekking Reapers,” he said with a shake of his head.
He’d believed that Rordan was his friend. It had been so long since Ruarc had found someone he thought he could trust. In the end, he’d discovered that Rordan had the biggest secret of all. He was a Reaper. It explained so much about his actions on Achill Island. Rordan had been undercover. He hadn’t cared a whit about anyone or anything but his mission.
Even if Ruarc wanted to turn to Rordan for help now, he couldn’t chance it—not that the Reapers would help him.
Ruarc didn’t look around to see if anyone followed. He knew he was being trailed. His every action scrutinized. He’d never hated anyone more than he did the Six who governed the Fae Others. They wanted power. And they didn’t care who died for them to obtain it.

REVIEW:MY FIERY VALENTINE is a novella length story line found in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DARKS KINGS paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is the continuing story of copper Dragon King Vlad aka V, and his mate Claire. MY FIERY VALENTINE can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.

SOME BACKGROUND: For thousands of years the Dragon Kings were lead to believe that conceiving a child with a woman of another species would always end in miscarriage or stillbirth but Claire and V’s pregnancy had been manipulated by the former Queen of the Dark Fae Useail, a manipulation that was intended to kill both mother and child.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Claire and V) MY FIERY VALENTINE follows one day in the life of copper Dragon King Vlad, and his mate Claire, several weeks after the birth of their daughter Pearl. It was Valentine’s Day and Claire wasn’t feeling very beautiful or romantic until an unplanned trip to the spa with the mates of the other Dragon Kings, gave Claire a new hope an evening alone spent with her King. As the other Dragons and their mates argued over who would be best suited to look after baby Pearl, both Claire and Vlad make preparations for a romantic evening together.

MY FIERY VALENTINE is a quick read; a sweet and sexy, fast paced story of romance and love between two people whose path going forward has been changed by the machinations of evil, machinations that have lead to a hope for the future for all of the Dragon Kings and their mates.

REVIEW:  DRAGON UNBOUND is the third instalment in Donna Grant’s adult DRAGON KINGS paranormal/fantasy series-a spin off from the author’s DARK KINGS series. This is garnet dragon Cullen, and banshee Tamlyn’s story line. DRAGON UNBOUND can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is a running premise throughout.

Told from dual third person perspectives (Cullen and Tamlyn) DRAGON UNBOUND follows garnet dragon Cullen as he is tasked by Constantine, King of the Dragons, to search for an unknown enemy that has targeted the dragons living in Zora, the world beyond the portal where the dragon descendants continue to reside but Cullen quickly discovers that things are much worse than he could have ever imagined when the evil hunting the dragons is now focusing on any child believed to be capable of magical powers. Enter banshee Tamlyn, a young woman who ‘hears’ the screams of the children as they face their death, a death Tamlyn is desperate to try and prevent. With the help of our hero, Tamlyn will enter the walled city where the children are being held captive, a city that is hiding a dangerous and invisible secret. What ensues is the building relationship between Cullen and Tamlyn, and the potential fall-out as Tamlyn struggles to save all the children, and the source of the evil is as yet, unknown.

The relationship between Tamlyn and Cullen is one of immediate attraction but Cullen is not welcome in Tamlyn’s cloistered life. Along with an alchemist and an Amazon, Tamlyn is all that is between the young children and death, and in this, Cullen is seen as a deterrent and possible spy for those capturing and killing the children with a magical power. When Cullen reveals his true identity, Tamlyn finds herself working alongside in an effort to save the children from any further harm. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to alchemist Sian, and Jenefer the Amazon, and the return of Teal Dragon King Vaughn, and his mate half fae-half dragon hybrid Eurwen, Eurwen’s brother and twin Brandr, as well as the King of Dragons Con. The requisite evil has yet to be revealed.

DRAGON UNBOUND is a story of power, control, evil and obsession. The premise is dark and intriguing; the romance is seductive; the characters are energetic and intense.

“Who are you?” he asked, his blue eyes wide with fear.
“Tamlyn. I’m here to help you.”
He glanced at the door. “No one can help me.”
“I climbed this wall for you. We can go down together, or you can stay here and see how things turn out.”
He shook his head before she finished. “I don’t want to stay. But…”
“I know,” she said softly. “It’s scary. There’s a chance we won’t make it. But it’s a choice you alone can make.”
He lifted his chin, his slim shoulders squaring. “I’ll do it.”
“Good lad,” she said with a wink. “I’m going to get into place. I need you to climb out and onto my back. Be sure to close the window.”
He glanced down and then nodded jerkily.
“You can do this,” Tamlyn told him.
That seemed to bolster him. She flexed her fingers and hoped she would be able to maintain her grip with his added weight. Tamlyn held onto the sill and dropped down, using her arms to hold her until she got both her footholds.
“All right. Come on,” she urged.
The boy climbed out and scooted to the edge of the sill on one side of her. He closed the window behind him.
“Good,” she said with a nod. “Now, get onto my back. Use my body however you need to, but make sure you have a good hold on me. Just be careful not to choke me.”
The instant he told her that he was in place, she began climbing down. She hadn’t gotten very far when she realized that she would never be able to hold them both. Her fingers were slipping, and her arms were shaking so badly she could barely move them.
And then she lost her grip.
Air rushed past them as they plummeted to the passageway below. Just before they hit, they jerked to a stop. Somehow, they hung suspended in midair for a heartbeat before falling the last few feet. The impact jarred her, but nothing like what could’ve happened.
She sat and turned to the boy. “Was that you?”
He shrugged. “Maybe.”
“Thank you.” She jumped to her feet. “Come on. We’ve got to get out of the city.”
Those at Stonemore didn’t know who was rescuing the children, but each time she came to the city, there was something else that hadn’t been there before. This time it was the soldiers in the forest. What would be next? They would catch her eventually. Until then, she would save as many as she could.
She took the boy’s hand and turned to retrace her steps. The only way out was to go down, and that meant walking across the empty square again. She kept a tight hold of the boy while also making sure their steps were easy and casual. One of the nearby soldiers turned to look at them. He started toward them, but another soldier told him to forget them. No doubt those two would be in trouble shortly, but she couldn’t let her thoughts linger on that. By her reckoning, everyone who didn’t stop the sacrifices was complicit.

REVIEW:  HOME FOR A COWBOY CHRISTMAS by Donna Grant is a stand alone, contemporary, adult, erotic, romantic suspense story line focusing on accountant/bookkeeper Emmy Garrett, and former FBI /Homeland Security Agent Dwight Reynolds.

Told from several third person perspectives including Emmy and Dwight HOME FOR A COWBOY CHRISTMAS follows in the aftermath of our heroine witnessing a murder in Denver, involving the Mob. On the run with Deputy US Marshall Dalton Silva, Emmy finds herself under the protection of former FBI /Homeland Security Agent turned rancher Dwight Reynolds, on his large ranch in Montana. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Dwight and Emmy, and the potential fall-out as the past comes gunning for our story line couple.

Emmy Garrett knew she was in trouble the day she observed a client kill another man but the witness protection program is failing our heroine such that with each new move, her whereabouts are revealed, and an assassin is always one -tep behind. Staying with former FBI Agent Dwight Reynolds doesn’t bode well for our story line heroine knowing the authorities are the ones letting her down. Dwight Reynolds owed his life to his friend US Marshall Dalton Silva, and in this, payback meant protecting the woman with whom he would fall in love. As the days turn into weeks, Dwight begins to think about a future, a future with our story line heroine.

The relationship between Dwight and Emmy is a close-proximity/ woman in peril story line such that our heroine is being hunted by the Mob. Emmy battles between head and heart to trust the man with whom she is falling in love, and as such, believes she may not be alive to see her own happily ever after. Dwight is willing to risk his life for the woman he loves, and risk he will when the Mob comes calling. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

We are introduced to Deputy US Marshall Dalton Silva, as well as Dwight’s sister Victoria, and his right hand man Carlos. The requisite evil has many faces.

HOME FOR A COWBOY CHRISTMAS is a fast paced, character driven, dramatic, and intense story line. The characters are energetic, lively and spirited; the romance is intimate; the palpable sexual attraction is sizzling and hot.

The author has included a bonus short story-WISH UPON A COWBOY.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date October 11, 2021.

There is no escaping a Reaper. I am an elite assassin, part of a brotherhood that only answers to Death. And when Death says your time is up, I’m coming for you…

The latest threat uncovered, it is my honor and duty to oust those responsible for the slaughter of so many and make the Fae Others pay for their crimes. However, nothing could have prepared me for the stunning and curious female that crosses my path. She’s an enigma: equal parts strength and vulnerability. She quiets the rage I’ve carried within me for so long and makes me question Death’s directives for the first time ever. Her tragic, emotional story touches something deep within me, and her bravery is awe-inspiring—which makes it doubly hard to let her return to the enemy and the dangers that await. I never expected her, but I need her. She is everything to me, and I will do whatever it takes to make sure she’s safe and by my side. Forever.

REVIEW: DARK ALPHA’S NEED is the eleventh instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult REAPERS paranormal, romance series focusing on Death’s Reapers. This is Reaper assassin Torin, and Breda’s story line. The REAPERS is a spin off from Donna’s DARK KINGS series which is a spinoff from Donna’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. You do not have to have read any of the previous series to understand the premise but many of the events of the Reapers series, overlap with the events of the Dark Kings series. DARK ALPHA’S NEED can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion.

Told from third person perspectives, following several pathways, DARK ALPHA’S NEED focuses on the hunt for the Others. Ainsley and Torin have located Breda, a young woman, a Fae who has recently escaped the group known as the Others. Hoping to ferret out information from Breda, Torin and Ainsley begin to question our heroine, only to realize she, and thusly the Others, are aware of more than they could have imagined but the appearance of the Other soldiers finds Ainsley and Torin watching from afar when a Fae they long thought dead and missing takes down the soldiers like a trained assassin. While Ainsley goes in search of the long lost Fae, Torin and Breda must face the Reapers, and the woman they have come to call Death, and friend. What ensues is the building relationship between Torin and Breda, as the Reapers devise a plan to take down the Others but in doing so use our story line heroine as a target and as bait.

Breda knows betrayal first hand, and in this, she is reluctant to reveal the truth about her past but Torin suspects Breda is keeping secrets, and in this, he must convince our heroine to trust in an effort to uncover the whereabouts of the Others.

Meanwhile, Ainsley goes on the hunt for Xaneth, the missing and broken Fae who mind and spirit have been tortured and abused. Xaneth is no longer the Fae male he once was, and in this, I suspect the betrayal will make him a candidate for the next chosen Reaper.

The relationship between Torin and Breda is one of immediate attraction but Breda is on the run, and her inability to trust threatens her relationship and friendship with our story line hero. When Torin reveals the truth about his past, Breda must come clean about the abusive childhood she had to endure, a childhood in which her powers would be used for evil rather than for good. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including Xaneth, and several members of the Reapers, and Death.

DARK ALPHA’S NEED is a story of betrayal and vengeance; power and control; retaliation and humiliation; acceptance, relationships, family and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive; the characters are animated and energetic.

I am hers, and she is mine…

Vaughn has spent eons searching for the woman who captured his heart, only to be disappointed time and again. Sure, he sees her in his dreams. May get to touch and hold her. But it’s not the same. As the emptiness inside him grows, he jumps at the chance for a distraction. Setting his eyes on the dragons again in Zora is a balm, but it can’t compare to once again coming face-to-face with the gorgeous beauty who holds a piece of his soul.

With responsibilities comes sacrifice…

Eurwen has never known anything but the burden and joy of ruling the dragons. But unlike her twin, she’s always been curious about Earth and the Kings and felt as if something were missing from her life. When her reunion with her parents brings an unexpected surprise, she can’t help but give in to the pleasure that Vaughn offers. Still, her loyalty lies with her realm, and the hurdles in their way to happiness seem insurmountable—especially with a new and unknown foe seeking to destroy them.

Trust doesn’t come easily, but love conquers all. And no amount of time or space can keep those who belong together apart.

REVIEW:DRAGON MINE is the second instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DRAGON KINGS erotic, paranormal, fantasy romance series-a spin off from the author’s DARK KINGS and the other numerous interconnected series. This is Teal Dragon King Vaughn, and half fae-half dragon hybrid Eurwen’s story line. DRAGON MINE can be read as a stand alone but for back story and cohesion I recommend reading INFERNO (Dark Kings #18), and DRAGON REVEALED (Dragon Kings 1).

WARNING: If you have not read the DARK KINGS series or DRAGON REVEALED, there may be spoilers in my review.

Told from several third person perspectives including Eurwen and Vaughn, DRAGON MINE follows Teal Dragon King Vaughn as he searches for a woman he met hundreds of years earlier, a woman he believes to be his fated mate. When King of Dragon Kings Con and his mate Light Fae Rhi cross the portal into Zora, in an effort to meet the children they never knew and reconnect with the dragons they have not seen in thousands of years, Vaughn asks to go along, believing his mate may be on the other side. Enter half fae/half dragon Eurwen. What ensues is the building relationship between Eurwen and Vaughn, and the potential fall-out as someone or something is targeting the dragons in Zora.

Eurwen and her brother Brandr have lived in Zora for all of their lives. Having never met their met their biological parents, and believing to have been abandoned, Eurwen and Brandr want nothing to do with the Dragon Kings until life in Zora begins to spiral out of control. Vaughn knew the woman he met years before was probably his fated mate but in all the years he has never been able to locate the woman, except in dreams, which were only too real to call fantasies. Eurwen and her brother made a pact never to cross the portal to Earth but Eurwen wanted something more, wanted to know about the dragons and Fae from whence she came. Meeting and falling for Dragon King Vaughn meant Eurwen had to remain in hiding, believing the Dragon Kings would take what didn’t belong.

The relationship between Eurwen and Vaughn began hundreds of years earlier but Vaughn could never find the woman with whom he would fall in love. Eurwen is part Fae, and therefore doesn’t believe in fated mates until she reconnects with our storyline hero, a man who stirs something deep within our story line heroine. The $ex scenes are intimate, passionate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

There is a large ensemble cast of colorful, energetic and familiar secondary and supporting characters including a number of Dragon Kings and their mates: Con and Rhi, V(lad) and Claire, Ulrik and Eilish, Varek and Jeyra. The Silvers will finally have a place to call home.

DRAGON MINE is a story of family, pain and heart break; acceptance and revelations; secrets, truths, love and understanding. The premise is emotional, engaging and captivating; the romance is seductive and provocative; the characters are dynamic, charismatic yet lost. DRAGON MINE is a revealing, tragic and character driven story line.
