ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 30, 2013

Left on bended knee, with nothing but a ring in his hand and a gaping hole in his chest, Ivan Rusilko lost everything when Jaden Thorne said, “I can’t.”

Now, six months later and despite her endless attempts to reach him, finding forgiveness for Jaden’s indiscretion is last on his list of things to do. Dr. Ivan is married to his career now, and his professional success is taking him places he’s never been before. But even the glow of accomplishment can’t heal his devastated heart. Determined to recover, to move forward at any cost, he now finds moments of respite in distractions that leave him emotionally bankrupt. He’s empty, a shadow of his former vibrant, life-loving self. On the outside, he may seem to be the man he always was. But inside, a terrible desire threatens to rip him apart and ruin him forever.

Meanwhile Jaden is haunted by the memory of the moment she saw the light wither and die in Ivan’s eyes. She knows it died at her hand. After months of trying to explain herself, of begging for mercy, she takes herself back to Miami, back into Ivan’s path, for one last chance at redemption. Can she entice him back into her arms? Convince him to give her a second chance? She’s determined to do whatever it takes to find forgiveness—even if all that’s left is forgiving herself.

REVIEW: The Winemaker’s Dinner: Dessert is the final installment in the trilogy of the same name. The previous two storylines were co-authored by Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond, but with Desserts, Ivan has gone solo and endeavored to bring about a resolution to the previous storyline’s heartbreaking ending. As well as emotionally bankrupt, Ivan ‘s character must question his morals when he seeks to satiate his internal demon’s need for sex and retribution against the woman who broke his heart.

TWD: Dessert continues six months post break-up and follows Ivan as he searches for something or someone to dull the pain of betrayal but an invitation to dinner by an old flame puts Ivan face to face with the woman he was hoping to forget. When the not-so-deeply-buried feelings resurface, Ivan and Jaden give it one more try, but thoughts and images of betrayal once again find themselves front and center in their lives.

TWD: Dessert delves deep into the psyche of a man pushing the proverbial envelope of sexual promiscuity as well as personal failure. It is a storyline that is slightly darker than the previous two installments as the leading character fights and looses an internal battle over and over again. Much of the storyline content focuses on Ivan’s struggle to quell the anger and emotional upheaval of the betrayal he believed Jaden brought into their lives.

The Winemaker’s Dinner: Dessert is the conclusion to a journey that began a few years ago with an idea-an idea to tell the story about a man’s struggle to find love with one woman, only to lose that love and perhaps the woman, in the end. Although smooth in his approach, the character of Ivan is enveloped in a deep-seated anger and looks for an outlet to satisfy the beast. At times, his internal dialogue almost verges on obscene, especially when he views his sexual encounters as nothing more than an outlet for his needs. Although it takes ‘two to tango’, there is still something to be said about a man looking for ‘love’ in all the wrong places. All I kept thinking was…This man earns his living promoting sexual health but it seems to be the last thing on his mind when the ‘demon’ wants control.

Fans of The Winemaker’s Dinner series will see a different side to the man they have grown to love and admire. And like all romance storylines, there is a resolution and a healing of sorts, when the truth about what happened is finally revealed. A happily ever after is not that far from the horizon. Now, let’s hope the real Ivan Rusilko found a different path to travel when heartbreak and betrayal were his companions during the many feasts of The Winemaker’s Dinner.

SUMMARY:

Dr. Ivan Rusilko has got it bad. He’s in love—with life, his work, and his baby girl, Jaden Thorne. The nearly 3000 miles between Miami and L.A. that once threatened their happily-ever-after now seem nothing more than a mere geographical challenge—nothing a few hours on a plane and a sexy weekend rendezvous can’t trump. No time apart is too long to keep him from wanting her in his arms and in his bed. He’s absolutely sure Jaden is his dream come true.

Jaden Thorne is living the life she’s always wanted. She’s got her one-in-a-million job on a TV cooking show, she’s achieved celebrity chef status, and she’s in a committed relationship with her perfect guy… Then the network’s surprise decision to add a co-host to her show takes a bite out of her perfectly balanced life and career. With a new man in the mix, living the dream gets a whole lot more complicated both personally and professionally.

When the emotional, mental, and physical paths of true love’s course collide with frustration, secrets, and assumptions, will Ivan and Jaden pay the price? Does their dream-come-true cost something neither can afford?

The Winemaker’s Dinner: Entrées is a decadent meal of passion, sex, and secrets, inspired by the real romantic life of Dr. Ivan Rusilko. Authors Everly Drummond and Dr. Ivan Rusilko have turned up the heat in this emotional follow up to The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizers, expertly executing their unique recipe for blending fact and fantasy, with more than a dash of passion and sex.

EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT to The Reading Cafe:

Classic rock streamed from the docking station where Ivan had plugged in his iPhone, but he was nowhere to be seen.

Wandering from the bedroom to the living room, she detected a faint trace of cigar smoke and noticed that the balcony door was ajar. There, leaning against the rail, his muscular physique illuminated by the setting sun, was Ivan. A cigar dangled from his mouth and his hand held a glass of wine. A simple white towel was the only thing he wore, and he appeared to be deep in thought. Bare feet, bare skin, and flowing brown hair that just reached the top of the tattoo inked across his back. The sight was almost perfect. If only he’d lose the towel, she thought. This man, a man she trusted implicitly and loved with every fiber of her being, a man who loved her back just as much, was a miracle. Finding what they now shared had been a once in a lifetime chance…and they’d been lucky to find it at all.

She watched him stand in silence, enjoying the fading blues, reds, and purples that painted the warm California sky. He pulled deep on his cigar, occasionally blowing a smoke ring. She could watch him for hours and be completely content, but she couldn’t bear to waste a second of their precious time together, so Jaden cleared her throat and alerted him to her presence. When he turned and stared at her, his eyes full of love, she could tell he’d been thinking something along the same lines as she had only seconds before. As their gazes locked, she knew this was for real. Despite the distance—the thing Ivan had feared the most—they were making it work. And someday, when the time was right, they’d be able to close that distance between them.

In anticipation of the upcoming release of THE WINEMAKE’S DINNER: ENTREES Omnific Publishing is offering TWO ebook copies of the first book in The Winemaker’s Feast Trilogy THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER: APPETIZERS.

THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER: Appetizers by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond-a review

The Winemaker’s Dinner: Appetizers (The Winemaker’s Feast #1) by Dr.Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond

THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER-Appetizers by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond

THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER –Appetizers is the first novel (July 31, 2012 release) in The Winemaker’s Feast series co-written by Dr. Ivan Rusilko and Everly Drummond. The storyline has been labeled a fictional account of Dr. Ivan’s life and love. But I wondered- How much of the book is fiction and how much of the book is fact? Of course, it doesn’t hurt, when a reader is able to put a face to a hero, and a face that is derived from reality and not from our imaginations. Then again, a good imagination allows the reader to place themself into the novel and experience the storyline first hand.

Dr. Ivan Rusilko is a successful doctor and businessman, but something or someone was missing from his life. And meeting Ms. Jaden Thorne brought everything into perspective-he was missing the other half of his soul. Having loved and lost, Ivan was afraid to put everything he was back into a relationship, but Jaden could be that someone. Knowing what he was going to do, would take time, but eventually everything would fall into place. But when dreams do come true, there may be someone needed to gather the pieces of a broken heart with the realization that sacrifices have to be made.

Jaden knew she had made a mistake. She wasn’t the type of girl to do a one-night stand, but she knew she was out of his league. Yet on the night Dr. Ivan sat with his friends, dining at her restaurant, Jaden knew she had made a bigger mistake then leaving without saying goodbye. If the tears staining her face were not a giveaway to her feelings, then the overwhelming joy at Ivan’s words, would certainly inspire a woman to fall head over heals for the stranger she had met only days before.

Throughout the story, the reader is taken on a trip of romance, of sex and fun. Ivan’s ability to make Jaden feel like she is the only woman in the world sings praises for a character who once thought he was destined for a string of failed relationships. His family’s acceptance was instantaneous, and the couple’s love grew with every encounter and morning after. Ivan is a man capable of melting a woman’s heart with a smile and a kiss. If only there were more men like the hero of this story.

Jaden was on the cusp of making a name for herself in the culinary world. Her position, as executive chef, had garnered a few turns of the head but it was her skill and her abilities that caught the attention of some very famous people-or so she had thought. But to everyone’s surprise except Ivan’s Jaden was thrown in to a spotlight that would eventually find her facing a boardroom of executives offering to make all of her dreams come true. But choices will have to be made, and the biggest sacrifice will come at the expense of a broken heart and a shattered soul. Sometimes the heart will not survive the separation of thousands of miles, and sometimes the heart knows exactly what it wants and needs.

THE WINEMAKER’S DINNER is a sweet story about finding love when and where you least expect it. As an erotic storyline, it was tamer than most, but the sexual energy was palpable and flowed smoothly between the pages of the book. The storyline was fast paced without the usual playing hard to get like many romantic tales-Jaden and Ivan were two adults who knew what they wanted and went into the relationship with their eyes and their hearts wide open. An interesting storyline, that makes you wonder, how much of the novel is fiction and how much is the real Dr. Ivan Rusilko. I have no doubt that comparisons will be made and most of us will never really know where reality and fiction blurred-but it was fun trying to guess. Congratulations to Dr. Ivan and Everly on their new release. I am looking forward to their next collaborative effort in The Winemaker’s Dinner series.

Dr. Ivan Rusilko-An Interview

Dr. Ivan Rusilko-Interview with The Reading Cafe

The Reading Cafe is very pleased to welcome Dr. Ivan Rusilko.

Many of our friends and readers, first “met” Dr. Ivan–when his image was used voraciously ( in a fantasy cast of characters) as the representation for the adult version of Nick Gautier from Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Dark Hunter series. The funny thing–many will still see Ivan as Nick–we can’t help ourselves.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TRC: Would you please tell us something about your childhood, growing up in Pennsylvania? What were your interests?  In what sports did you participate?
Dr.Ivan: My childhood consisted of hunting, fishing and hockey… the simple pleasures. To help “build character” my father insisted that I work on a farm where I bailed hay, milked cows and shoveled shit. As much as I disliked it at the time I am so thankful for it now because I really appreciate what hard work is. My family is very close and we celebrated many holidays together throughout the year and still continue to do so. I was offered the option to pursue a childhood dream, playing professional hockey, but chose to accept a position in a accelerated medical program right out of high school truncating 4 years of undergraduate education into three with my fourth year becoming my first year of medical school. I was very blessed growing up.
TRC: Do you keep in contact with any of your childhood friends?
Dr.Ivan: Yes, I do. The nice thing about coming from such a small town is that the friendships you make are solid ones.
TRC: When did you become interested in bodybuilding and why?
Dr.Ivan: I got into bodybuilding in college. I used to strive to be the biggest and strongest guy in the gym but came to find I was impressing the wrong sex, ahah. I made the decision to slim down and get myself into a more athletic look and bodybuilding was a great way to do it.
TRC: You are a very gifted athlete and bodybuilder.  Did your parents have any influence on your decision to become a bodybuilder? Who or what were your influences? Mentors?
Dr.Ivan:  My father was the one who sparked the interest in this field. He was a former bodybuilder himself and had a make shift gym in our downstairs which became my personal gym throughout my childhood years.
TRC: Please describe your daily workout ethic.  Do you follow any particular diet?  Regularly? Or only during training and preparation for competitions?
Dr. Ivan I follow a very clean and healthy diet. I cycle carbs in and out depending on what I am currently doing and the look I am going for. I created a rather unique way of exercising that combines the knowledge I gained in medical school to the trial and errors of personal experience. Exercising for me is the only time of day I get to relax!
TRC: Are you still active in bodybuilding competitions?
Dr. Ivan:  I am planning on doing a show this year… a new years resolution!!
TRC: What is your current involvement with competitive bodybuilding?
Dr. Ivan:  I am not actively doing shows but do maintain a physique that is close to contest shape. Living in Miami Beach one comes to realize that your body is in an essence your business card. With the work I do in the cosmetic, anti aging and exercise fitness medical fields I try to practice what they preach. No one should take advice about weight loss from a doctor who needs to loose weight himself!
TRC: Have you ever participated in a competition where everything went horribly wrong or something happened that was so humorous, you still talk about it every time you get together with friends?
Dr. Ivan:  I tend to not take my posing routines too serious. My first show I used the song “Sweet Dreams” song as my music and got a great laugh from the crowd. I could barley pose due to the fact I was laughing so hard. If you cant laugh at yourself someone else will.
TRC: What do you say to young body builders about the dangers and abuse of anabolic steroids?
Dr. Ivan:  I believe that everyone should be educated on what anabolic steroids are. One of the biggest problems is people using them without any knowledge about what they are.
TRC: Along with bodybuilding, you are a model and spokesperson.  A very prolific model including calendars, wineries, Gold’s Gym, GNC .  Which do you prefer-runway, print or fashion model and why?
Dr. Ivan: Honestly I love runway because it is very relaxed and I find it enjoyable. Many models find runway stressful but I love it.
TRC: What do you say to anyone involved in the modeling business and nude photo shoots? Do you adhere to a no-nude photo policy?
Dr. Ivan:  I have never done nudity but I believe that if done artistically it is a beautiful thing. The human body is a miracle and appreciating it in every way, as long as it is tasteful, should be encouraged.
TRC: As a spokesperson, you represent many companies and their products.  You have represented several nutrition and, sports and fitness products.  Have you ever refused a product or company, based on poor standards or false representation?
Dr. Ivan: I have never been approached by a company with inferior prodcuts or ones I wouldn’t personally use. Lucky me!
TRC: Do you test any of the products prior to endorsement?
Dr. Ivan: Yes, I would never pitch something that I don’t personally find effective.
TRC: Tell us something about the wine business.  Do you own your own vineyard?  Your own label?
Dr. Ivan: I wish! My father and I love to experiment with making wine and beer. We travel to various New York vineyards where we get our grapes and juicesOnce back in PA we get to work tasting and testing all sorts of different blends.
TRC: If so, are any of your wines available at the retail/restaurant level?
Dr. Ivan: Nope… just for friends and family.
TRC: You are involved with several community projects and volunteer programs such as Habitat for Humanity and the Ronald McDonald House, as well as membership on several different boards. Tell us about your most recent volunteer project.  Do you travel often for these programs?
Dr. Ivan:  Giving back is something everyone should do. I have been so lucky getting to where I am and love to help out wherever I can. The Little Lighthouse Foundation is a local children’s charity in Miami headed by a great group of philanthropists and it is always great to see what they are planning next!
TRC: You are a doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.  Would you please explain, what is involved with Osteopathic Medicine?
Dr. Ivan:  Osteopathic Physicians combine traditional western medicine with a holistic and preventative approach. They view the body as a single unit composed of Mind, Body and Spirit which work together in a harmonious relationship. They receive the same education, perform the same procedures, and can prescribe the same medications that MD’s do.
Personally, I chose to pursue this form of medicine due to my upbringing and my involvement in the fitness and nutrition fields from a young age. My father is a chiropractor and thanks to his frequent adjustments I never had any issues with headaches or back pain growing up. Being involved in sports like hockey and bodybuilding I came to appreciate how exercise and proper nutrition can contribute to a healthy lifestyle. When it came time to make the decision on attending medical school I found the osteopathic approach of “prevention first” very appealing and decided to pursue a career in this field.
A key difference is that D.O.’s have the ability to perform manipulation techniques to bones and muscles which restore optimum structure and intern optimum function. This is termed Osteopathic Manipulation.
TRC: Your father is a Chiropractor.  How much of an influence did your father have in your decision to go into medicine?  Osteopathic medicine?
Dr Ivan:  A lot. He is the reason I was so interested in the osteopathic field.
TRC: Did your bodybuilding career assist in your medical career decision, or vice versa?  How difficult was it to be actively involved with competitive bodybuilding while attending school?
Dr. Ivan:  Time management is something I have done rather effectively my whole life. Being able to plan ahead and set aside time to do things you are passionate about is a must when trying to enjoy life. If done correct you can many things.
TRC: How much of your medical practice revolves around holistic healing, sports training and alternative medicines?  Do you specialize in professional sports medicine?  If not, would you ever consider being a sports medicine specialist for a specific team or sport?
Dr. Ivan:  My whole practice is based on these modalities. Preventative medicine should be a focus of every practitioner. I would love to become involved in sports medicine more but I do love where I am at currently.
TRC: What do you do for fun?
Dr. Ivan:  Anything and everything. The most enjoyable thing I do though is actually photography. The hardest part is finding people who are as passionate about it as I am.
TRC: We read where you are interested in acrylics and writing.  Have you ever sold any of your artwork?  What are you currently writing?  Have you been approached to write your memoirs?
Dr. Ivan:  Yes, I have sold numerous paintings and I have also co authored my first novel… The Winemakers Dinner... which is a story based on my past triumphs and tragedies in love. I have found these two outlets extremely relaxing and mentally stimulating.
Dr. Ivan: Beauty is not solely about looks… personality is a large part of it. Smiling makes you seem much more inviting and pleasant to be around. I can jam all the Botox and fillers into someones face but with they don’t smile it is all for naught.
Quote:  “I view life as a book that is constantly being written with the decisions we make every day.  Some decisions create sentences while others chapters.  We must take every chance we are afforded to create the most unique story as possible.  I am currently writing the most inspiring drama, action, comedy and love story to date!!
TRC: I (Sandy) personally love and admire this statement.  It speaks volumes as to your character and life choices. I wish everyone would adhere to such a belief.  Would you please describe the ‘importance’ of this statement and why we should ALL apply this to our daily lives?
Dr. Ivan:  Thank you. Life is a beautiful thing that most people take for granted. Every day is a chance to create a memory that will live with you for the rest of your life. People tend to wait for the weekend to go crazy or have fun which results in the majority of your life going to waste. I suggest taking every opportunity you come across because sooner or later they will run out.
TRC: Do you have any regrets?
Dr. Ivan:  Everyone has regrets… if you don’t it means you have never lived. Would I change anything… absolutely not. I wear my regrets as battle scares of a life well lived.
TRC: What are you currently doing?
Dr. Ivan:  Anti aging, cosmetic, and fitness based medicine in the sexiest city in the world… Miami Beach
TRC: Have you ever appeared in any big screen movies or television programs? If so, which ones?
Dr. Ivan:  Not yet
TRC: Would you please tell us something about yourself, that we may not know?
Dr. Ivan: If I didn’t pursue medicine and modeling I would love to have become a chef or a photographer. These are my secret passions.
