ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date April 9, 2024

She captured his dragon’s attention and stole his fire.

With her final exams behind her, Ella Kincaid has one weekend to live carefree before entering the grueling world of corporate America to start her dream job. She never expected her one-night stand with Gideon to put her in an ethical dilemma on day one.

As a dragon shifter, all Gideon Hayes wants is his fire and to make jewelry. One incredibly stupid mistake cost him his flame. What’s he supposed to do with a human mate, anyway?

They’re mates who shouldn’t be. If Ella can’t get Gideon out of her head, she’ll lose her career. He’ll be damned if a human negates his fire.

Can they deny what destiny has in store for them? Challenging fate may have worse consequences than they ever imagined.

REVIEW:Another new author for me 😉 and a shifter book (one of my favourite reads) so I’m well happy 😊

Ella, has a strong personality who takes no messing from anyone. She values her work and has worked hard to get where she is now. It might be a family owned business, but didn’t do her any favours. She loves her job (the one thing that puzzled me though… it’s family run, but hardly any of her family wander through or are mentioned!)

Gideon is a dragon shifter. He has the reputation of being a bad boy, but it didn’t really come across that way (well I didn’t to me 🤷🏻‍♀️) He loves his job. He make’s jewellery for the family run business. (Now this is where it differs from Ella, we meet, and hear about his family all the time 🤔)

I liked how the author (through Gideon) explains how the shifter community works. How they shift/meet other dragons and how they live in general, (they are governed by a dragon council) We got the information in a way that wasn’t just an information dump (you get some authors just unload too much too soon!)

Meeting leads to obvious chemistry between Ella and Gideon. One thing leads to another…. The bedroom scenes are spicy 🥵 but there aren’t too many (lately all I’ve been reading is no plot and lots of $ex, it gets a little monotonous)

Did make me roll my eyes when they decided they weren’t going to be together, they wanted to continue their own lives separately. It’s good to have conflict, it’s ok to make them realise they will be happier together. (Nothing worse than no drama) but both Gideon and Ella got a little whiny (that is me skipping a few pages)

I loved Felicity, Ella’s friend/roommate, she’s an absolute blast. Witty and totally out there, but we all need a friend like that. Some of the stuff she comes out with had me chuckling.

So when an opportunity arises that could end they’d bond, will they take it? or will they finally realise what they have really is special?
Storyline is fairly original and straightforward. Characters are well thought out.

It’s descriptive without wasting pages. A recommended read if you like your shifter stories. I’d love Felicity to get a story, that would a fun read.

REVIEW: DRAGONFIRE is the fourteenth full-length instalment in Donna Grant’s contemporary, adult DARK KINGS paranormal/fantasy romance series focusing on the Dragon Kings and the women they love. This is Light Blue Dragon King Roman, and jewellery maker /Romani gypsy Sabina Gabor. DRAGONFIRE should not be read as a stand alone as the current story lines continue to follow an ongoing series arc.

SOME BACKGROUND: The DARK KINGS is a spinoff from Donna Grant’s DARK WARRIOR series which in turn is a spin off from Donna’s DARK SWORD series- all set in the Highlands of Scotland. The Dark Fae and their King Taraeth, along with the Silver Dragon Mikkel have declared war on the Dragon Kings by exposing the dragon’s existence to humankind. The last wars between man and the world of the paranormal saw a great loss of life on all sides but someone or something is determined to push the Dragons back into another war: Queen Usaeil of the Light Fae has set her sights on claiming King Constantine as her mate, and the Dark Fae want the Dragon’s hidden weapon in order to rule Scotland and the rest of the world. With the recent introduction of the Fae executioners known as the Reapers, the number of interconnected series continues to expand.

Told from several third person perspectives including Sabina and Roman, DRAGONFIRE follows Light Blue Dragon King Roman, and Dragon King Vlad aka V, as they go in search of Vlad’s missing sword, stolen thousands of year earlier while V slept in the Carpathian Mountains. Drawn to Romania in search of Vlad’s past, Roman will come face to face with his future-Romani gypsy and jewellery designer Sabina Gabor. What ensues is the slow building relationship between Roman and Sabina, and the fall-out as their search for the sword reveals past events linking Sabina’s family and Vlad, and the powerful magic meant to destroy them all.

DRAGONFIRE is a detailed and revealing story of magic, betrayal, vengeance and hope. With each instalment Donna Grant reveals a little more backstory and slowly exposes the conspiracy surrounding the fate of the Dragons, and the potential for war with the Fae, the Druids, and mankind. The gradual but deliberately slow, evolving series continues to expand, introducing new players and potential dangers as it meanders numerous paths taking the reader along for the ride. Light Fae Rhi continues to lament the rejection of the Dragon King she will always love; and Balladyn, now King of the Dark Fae, is determined to make Rhi his queen.

The Dark King series matures and expands with each subsequent addition. For followers of the series Ulrik and Con have made amends forcing the series to venture into another direction as the Dragon Kings face an old enemy that is determined to control them all. The romance takes a back seat to the increasing prospect of another Fae/Dragon war-a war of which the world may not survive.

ABOUT THE BOOK: Release Date February 19,2018

Constantine, King of Dragon Kings is an enigma. Extremely private, he keeps the details of his past secret. Now is your chance to get another glimpse into a certain time of his life – and the people he encounters that change him.

This is a short story involving Constantine from the New York Times bestselling Dark Kings series from Donna Grant

••••••••••

REVIEW: CONSTANTINE: A History Part 2 is the second short story focusing on the King of the Dragon Kings Constantine, in the Donna Grant’s Dark Kings series.

CONSTANTINE: A History Part 2 reveals how the Dragon Kings began their whiskey distillery in Scotland, and Con’s continuing relationship with a woman that is familiar but not, a woman who speaks philosophically and in circles as she warns Constantine of things to come.

Like Part 1, Part 2 stops at 77%, and the remaining 23% offers up an excerpt from Dark Alpha’s Claim-the author’s series focusing on the Reapers, and the woman known as Death. Once again, the premise is entertaining and engaging but mostly a tease. Constantine: A History Parts 1 and 2 reads like a serialized story line that teases the reader into wanting something more but revealing very little at a time.

Who is Constantine, King of Dragon Kings? It’s a question asked by many. Here is your chance to learn some of this enigmatic leader’s history – and get a unique look inside the Dragon Kings

••••••••••••••

REVIEW:  CONSTANTINE: A History Part 1 by Donna Grant is a short story that focuses on some of the history of Constantine, King of the Dragons, and how he met the woman we have come to know as Death. Although limited in any real background information the author may be leading the reader to believe that Con may have met his future in the guise of a wanderer who may not have been completely human.

The story line stops at 75% , and the remaining 25 % cover the first chapter of Dark Alpha’s Claim (Reaper Book 1) and some promotional information about the author’s series. The premise is interesting but leaves too many questions unanswered. CONSTANTINE is a tease; a quick look back at the King of Kings who struggles in a world that, is once again, threatening the dragons’ existence.

The 20th of April, human year 1746
DreaganI have tried. I truly have. Some might look back and say that I didn’t give it enough, but I will know the truth.
The simple fact is, the mortals have lost their bloody minds.
I knew it was a good idea to have a spy in the English parliament long before Culloden, and Keltan has done a fine job relaying information while keeping his true identity a secret. But learning that the English plan to pass The Dress Act in the next few months that would make wearing a tartan or kilt illegal leaves me flummoxed. And fuming.
Some of the Kings wish to use our magic to stop such idiocy, but we won’t. Just as we didn’t intervene or participate in Culloden or the many other battles before that—or the ones yet to come. We have chosen to live among—but apart from—the humans.
And for very good reason.
It is impossible to look at the mortals without disdain for their stupidity or respect for their accomplishments. Thankfully, the spell I cast prevents such deep emotions within the Kings in regards to the humans. Otherwise, I’m not sure even I could keep from eradicating them.
The years are a blur. They pass as quickly as sand through my fingers.
Worse yet, is that my brethren are terribly, enormously lonely. It’s an ache experienced by all. Each attempts to hide it, but it’s there in their gaze, in their words, and in the very things they do not say.
And, if I’m being honest, I’m lonely, too.
I will never admit it to anyone. It’s difficult enough to divulge it in this journal. It’s a secret I keep concealed, because if I let it show, if I concede that I feel such emotions, then it’s a weakness that can—and will—be used against me by our enemies.
The Fae Wars might be over, and we may be on friendly terms with the Light, but I know the Dark Fae will never give up in their quest to take over this realm. It’s a prime hunting ground for them. They will always be adversaries. And they’re patient enough to wait to strike at the best moment.
Then there’s Ulrik.
He wants to challenge me. Perhaps, he’ll win. Perhaps he won’t.
I try to prepare for all these things. I know they’re coming. It’s a feeling deep within me, like a warning bell. Just as I know that our power, our magic, will draw other enemies to us. Will we be ready?
We have to be. We’ve lost too much already. I will not allow anyone to take what we’ve fought so hard to maintain after everything we’ve given up.
I owe it to the other Kings to ensure that. And I will. Even if it means I forfeit my life. Because, in the end, I am merely one dragon. Any of the other Kings could take my place—even Ulrik. But they are the ones who are important. The dragons are gone from this realm, but the Dragon Kings must remain at all costs.Constantine, King of Golds

EMBER’S KISS (Dragonfire #8) by Deborah Cooke-a review

EMBER’S KISS (Dragonfire #8 ) by Deborah Cooke-a review

EMBER’S KISS is the 8th storyline and October 2, 2012 release in Deborah Cooke’s amazing Dragonfire series. The Pyr are shape-shifting dragon warriors whose job it is to protect humankind but once in awhile a dragon will discover his mate through a firestorm, and the firestorm will bring with it a threat against their own. This is Brandon and Liz’s story.

In the previous storylines we have been following the exploits of an ancient dragon shifter known as Chen. Believing himself to be the most powerful, Chen had found the ‘dragon’s blood’ elixir and was making an army of Slayers to fight the Pyr. But the Darkfire had been released thwarting his plans, and with the approach of a new eclipse Chen was hoping to find the next Pyr who would be at his most vulnerable during the impending firestorm. He needed to find the dragons with affinities to the elements-he wanted their powers. Brandon was his target and their ‘friendship’ would nearly cost Brandon his life. With three missing scales, Brandon was closer to the Slayer than he had realized.

As the estranged son of Brandt, Brandon Merrick had made a name for himself in the surfing world. Currently living in Hawaii, Brandon was riding the waves hoping to make it big, but on the night of the eclipse, he would find himself awash in the firestorm, of which, all Pyr would hope one day to find. Knowing this would be his only chance at a son, Brandon would soon meet the woman who would be his mate. But something was wrong. He was having difficulty controlling his dragon and he blamed his nature and heritage, but there was something about Chen’s magical powder that seemed to fuel the rage burning inside. Knowing he was a danger to his mate, Brandon decided it was time to leave.

Marine biologist Liz Barrett has what she calls a ‘sensitivity to the elements’, but it had been close to 14 years since her special abilities had re-emerged. And the closer to her latest destination and a gorgeous stranger, the stronger her powers became. But the call of a name she had long forgotten proved that she was where she belonged and with a man claiming that the ‘firestorm’ was never wrong. But a cryptic message from an old ‘Asian’ man would have Liz second-guessing the true nature of the Firestorm and her dragon. And she suddenly realized the power that the old man had over Brandon and it was her turn to leave to protect the man in whom she was falling in love. She believed she had to escape her family legacy.

Many of the other Pyr will be called once again to help with the dragon’s Firestorm, but this time something felt off. Both Quinn and Erik sensed a difference as though the Darkfire was holding court with Brandon’s destiny and Sara would receive a portent of warning about this particular Firestorm. They all were heading to Hawaii because Brandon was in trouble-the Pyr and their mates were needed to break the spell that had been cast trapping Brandon in the clutches of a Slayer. But it is the power of love and a mate that will be the ultimate spell in saving Brandon’s life.

EMBER’S KISS is another well-written, fascinating and amazing storyline in Deborah Cooke’s Dragonfire series. Deborah creates a world of beautiful dragons and timeless love. I have loved Deborah’s Dragons since the very beginning and I was immensely pleased that she brought together the Pyr in this amazing tale. And yet again we get a very quick glance at another one of the Pyr, who amazingly finds himself in one too many predicaments.
